ROE v WADE
Norris: Twice as many people condemn plastic straws than abortion
This Friday, Jan. 22, marks 48 years since abortion became legal across the United States. On Jan. 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court declared its decision regarding the case of Roe v. Wade, when the highest court in the land ruled that individual state laws banning abortion were unconstitutional. From that point onward, abortion-on-demand was legalized in all 50 states. […] It is staggering to think that, since 1973, over 62 million Americans have lost their lives in the womb due to being aborted or terminated by their parent. […] As the Reformed Perspective news put it: So, someone might have had their elderly mother euthanized, or had their unborn baby aborted, but they feel like a good person since they used a bamboo, not plastic, straw. Am I missing something? Do you value bamboo straws more than human life? In the womb? Some might retort that the Angus Reid poll surveyed Canadians’ views, not Americans. However, do we really expect U.S. poll percentages on the issue to be any different than our northern neighbors, especially since America legalized abortions 15 years earlier than Canada’s legalization, in 1988?
(A story of redemption) Kupelian: How God redeemed the doctor who gave America legalized abortion
The original abortion-rights slogans from the early ’70s – they remain virtual articles of faith and rallying cries of the “pro-choice” movement to this day – were “Freedom of choice” and “Women must have control over their own bodies.” “I remember laughing when we made those slogans up,” recalled Bernard Nathanson, M.D., co-founder of pro-abortion vanguard group NARAL, during a lengthy interview I did with him in 1990. Reminiscing about the early days of the abortion-rights movement in the late ’60s and early ’70s, he confided, “We were looking for some sexy, catchy slogans to capture public opinion. They were very cynical slogans then, just as all of these slogans today are very, very cynical.” Besides having served as chairman of the executive committee of NARAL – originally, the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws, and later renamed the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League – Nathanson was one of the principal architects and strategists of the abortion movement in the United States. He told me an astonishing story. […] “Repeating the big lie often enough convinces the public. The number of women dying from illegal abortions was around 200-250 annually. The figure we constantly fed to the media was 10,000. These false figures took root in the consciousness of Americans, convincing many that we needed to crack the abortion law. “Another myth we fed to the public through the media was that . . . NARAL’s brilliantly deceitful marketing campaign, bolstered by fraudulent “research,” was uncannily successful. […] “Anyway,” Nathanson told me, “as a result of all of this technology – looking at this baby, examining it, investigating it, watching its metabolic functions, watching it urinate, swallow, move and sleep, watching it dream, which you could see by its rapid eye movements via ultrasound, treating it, operating on it – I finally came to the conviction that . . . […] In 1985, intrigued by the question of what really happens during an abortion in the first three months of pregnancy, Nathanson decided to put an ultrasound machine on the abdomen of a woman undergoing an abortion and to videotape what happens. “We got a film that was astonishing, shocking, frightening,” he told me.

NOTABLE QUOTES
Bruce Bawer contributor to American Greatness wrote: No, Joe Biden can’t train us to see the world anew. But with enough power, he and his party may well be able to compel a great many of us to pretend to see it as they say we should.
Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted on Thursday: I just filed Articles of Impeachment on President @JoeBiden
Abigail Shrier author of IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters tweeted: On day 1, Biden unilaterally eviscerates women’s sports. Any educational institution that receives federal funding must admit biologically-male athletes to women’s teams, women’s scholarships, etc. A new glass ceiling was just placed over girls.
Washington Examiner reported: Gone are the flags of the branches of the military that Trump displayed behind the Resolute Desk. Biden has installed an American flag and another with a presidential seal.
Candace Owens: “Domestic terrorist.” “White supremacist.” “Nazi.” “Racist.” “Fascist.” “Deplorable.” “Evil.” The people who spent 4 years calling you these vile words now have complete and total power. Power over the White House, over Congress, over the media, over the internet, over our own lives and thoughts.
Daniel Greenfield contributor to FrontPage Magazine wrote: Democrats and lefties love talking about democracy. As many commenters on Hail to the Thief pointed out, Communist and Marxist dictatorships make a point of calling themselves, “democratic”. But what does democracy actually mean to them?
Michael Devon contributor to American Thinker wrote: . . . after searching the Internet for a few hours, there only remain questions, and no answers about Ashli’s shooting. My only assumption can be that the hard facts concerning the shooting are so egregious, and so threatening to the incoming Democratic Congress and new Biden Administration that the American people are once again being treated as mushrooms; we are kept in dark and fed piles of stinking manure.
PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
Kedhi: The True Legacy of Donald Trump
Donald Trump is a difficult man to understand, to say the least. He says controversial things, is a stranger to political correctness and yet his actions steer towards patriotism and conservatism. Truthfully, as conservatives, we reject and abhor the cult of the individual. We believe in the sanctity of life, in the paramount freedoms of thought, speech and religion and in the purity and sacredness of family, country, tradition and history. Quite often, conservatives are left alone in defense of these values. Many times they feel bullied, excluded, unwanted guests in their own countries by the media, the left, the so-called woke mobs and even right-wing politicians, who desperately seek inclusion in elite circles. In this context, most conservatives see Donald Trump as the protector and champion of these beliefs. They rise to the defense of someone who finally stood up for them. Without understanding the deep chasm between the common people and the elites, it is impossible to comprehend the rise of Donald Trump and the devotion of his supporters around the globe. Yet, the establishment refuses to grasp this reality. They detest those who are not obedient. Hence, Donald Trump did not divide Americans. He was a defense mechanism of the common people in an environment of deep divisions and cultural conflicts. In a rarity in national politics, President Trump does not leave a legacy merely to his own people, but to the entire world.

Skurkiss: The ruling class against Trump
It was incredibly sad to see Donald Trump depart the White House. As my wife watch his farewell address, there were tears in her eyes. She saw him as a good, decent man who was maligned at every turn, all because he strove to put the interest of ordinary Americans first. The unending harassment Trump had to deal with as president will not abate. There’s the vindictive second impeachment coming, which now is apparently supported by senior Republican senator Mitch McConnell and other GOPers. Heaven only knows what else private citizen Trump will be forced to endure in the future for himself, his businesses, and his family. For as sure as God made little green apples, the ruling class will not be satisfied that he is out of office. The elites have to ruin the man as payback for having the gall to challenge them, to deflate his base of support, and to discourage another Trump from rising in 2024. Looking back at the hate, the lies, and even criminal actions directed at Trump, one might ask, what was his crime? Strip away all the superficial charges of his coarseness and lack of knowledge of Washington, and what remains is what Angelo Codevilla wrote. It was Trump’s challenge to the prerogatives of the ruling class, who for years have been enriching themselves at the expense of the country.

GOP
Davis: It’s This Simple: Liz Cheney Must Go
I’ve spent years admiring Liz Cheney. Her ascent to Congress in 2016 was a satisfying extension of a public life that had already led many to identify her as an important voice for conservatism. Her unapologetic clarity made her a pleasure to watch in the middle of the Obama years during her frequent appearances on Fox News. Her service as Wyoming’s lone member of Congress has been no less impressive, as she has rocketed to the top levels of Republican leadership, installed after her first re-election as Chair of the House Republican Conference, third-ranking Republican in the chamber. With a path this promising and a future this bright, it is impossible to fathom what led her to mortgage an entire political career by joining the malicious and baseless impeachment effort against Donald Trump, a doomed exploit that attracted the confused enthusiasm of nine other Republicans. Reaction was swift and decisive. From the ranks of congressional Republicans to no small number of Wyoming voters, her fitness for that leadership position fell into immediate question. Appearing on Fox Wednesday morning, she was asked immediately about the impeachment gambit. This was an opportunity to explain to a nation of baffled supporters her reasons for joining the ranks of Trump critics who believe he is responsible for the January 6 Capitol riots. It did not go well. “All of us have an obligation . . . “ This was the same tired index card wielded a year ago by every Democrat lamely stretching to justify the first Trump impeachment. […] On Fox, she telegraphed exactly what she will attempt with voters in her state: . . .

The Right Scoop: McConnell CENSURED after blaming Trump for Capitol riot
Liz Cheney isn’t the only Republican in Congress getting censured. Mitch McConnell just got one too from the local Republican Party in Kentucky: KYSTANDARD – The leadership of the Nelson County Republican Party unanimously approved issuing a formal rebuke of U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell Tuesday evening.
The unanimous vote of the 11 members of the executive committee came about six hours after McConnell took to the U.S. Senate floor and said President Donald Trump provoked a violent mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. A censure, or formal rebuke, issued after the vote accused McConnell of . . .

Kantor: A ‘Restoration Caucus’ for Resisting the Globalist Occupation Regime
A place to start the purification of the Republican Party as a vehicle for national restoration is by creating a caucus that relentlessly primaries globalists and pushes an America First agenda. The James Buchanan presidency is now upon us. I hoped that things would work out differently, that somehow President Trump—despite his many faults—would carry the day. The final outcome, however, did not surprise me. Now is a time for choosing. I have accepted the fact that I can no longer remain in my chosen profession of public education. I can no longer work for an institution that is in the hands of a globalist occupation regime, a regime whose only unifying characteristic is its implicit hostility to the historical American nation and its descendants. I am changing careers and moving to Red America. Why “globalist occupation regime?” Because it sums up the essence of our situation. It is globalist. It sees the world—nations, cultures, localities, religions, and people as replaceable Legos. The globalist is a “citizen of the world,” which is to say a citizen of nowhere. The globalist is just as likely to be a capitalist as he is to be a Communist. Not understanding this fact is perhaps the greatest oversight made by right-leaning thinkers for at least a half-century. They believed that . . .
