Agostin: WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION EXPANSION IS ANTITHETICAL TO AMERICAN SELF GOVERNANCE

Analysis: The World Health Assembly (WHA) is the governing body of the World Health Organization (WHO) and in 1969 it adopted International Health Regulations (IHR) in hopes of controlling the spread of six diseases through quarantine. Since then, the IHR has been amended several times, but most recently in 2005. There were proposals to add enforcement measures in the wake of China’s delayed reporting of the 2002-2003 SARS outbreak, however the IHR still does not have an enforcement mechanism. For example, following adoption of the IHR mandates that countries build internal capacities in 2005, Member States had 2 years to come into compliance, by 2012, only 20 percent of countries reported to WHO that they were in compliance. Despite regulatory mandates of the IHR, WHO does not have authority to enforce the regulations and there are no legal consequences for IHR violations. This means that even if China were found to have violated its obligations in its response to COVID-19, there would not be international law repercussions, though member states still individually retain the sovereign power to sanction those countries that they feel are acting in a harmful manner. This also means on the front-end of an outbreak WHO cannot compel a country to take specific actions. As with China and COVID-19, a country may or may not cooperate with WHO. The amendments proposed by the Biden administration do not include an enforcement mechanism nor does the WHO Constitution include strong mechanisms to force compliance with the regulations. However, as has already been indicated by the WHA, these regulations are not the end-game. The final goal is . . . The WHO recently announced plans for an international pandemic treaty tied to a digital passport and digital ID system. Meeting in December 2021 in a special session for only the second time since the WHO’s founding in 1948, the Health Assembly of the WHO adopted a single decision titled, “The World Together.” The WHO plans to finalize the treaty by 2024. It will aim to shift governing authority now reserved to sovereign states to the WHO during a pandemic by legally binding member states to the WHO’s revised International Health Regulations. […] Leslyn Lewis, a member of the Canadian parliament and lawyer with international experience, has warned that the treaty would also allow the WHO unilaterally to determine what constitutes a pandemic and declare when a pandemic is occurring. “We would end up with a one-size-fits-all approach for the entire world,” she cautioned. Under the proposed WHO plan, pandemics need not be limited to infectious diseases and could include, for example, a declared obesity crisis. Techno Fog: Was Rodney Joffe involved in the Trump/Russia investigation?

Today we saw some important testimony in the Michael Sussmann case. First, Rodney Joffe, an FBI confidential human source, went around his FBI handler to relay dubious Alfa Bank information to a friend at the FBI. Second, there were indications that Joffe previously worked on Russia cyber security matters. This leads us to ask whether Joffe was in some way involved in the Trump/Russia investigation. More on that below. The testimony of retired FBI Agent Tom Grasso. Grasso, a witness for Sussmann, was a Special Agent with the FBI whose “primary responsibility involved investigating cyber crimes.” He was part of a unit detailed to the National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The NCFTA, as Grasso explained, “is a nonprofit entity where nonprofit entity where private sector and law enforcement can come together to collaborate on cyber crime matters; and the FBI unit that I was a part of was detailed to be the FBI component of that project.” Grasso met Rodney Joffe through the NCFTA. Illinois law also provides that “[e]ven vote-by-mail ballots without postmarks shall be counted if received up to 14 calendar days after Election Day if the ballots are dated on or before Election Day.” […] Judicial Watch argues that holding voting open for 14 days past Election Day violates the constitutional rights of voters and candidates:

An 18-year-old sociopath murdered 19 elementary school children and two adults in a classroom in the small town of Uvalde, Texas, . . .[…] In this case, the assailant was the product of the social entropy and cultural devolution that has permeated the fabric of our nation. Typical of mass assailants, he was a deeply troubled youth from a badly broken home, with no father to affirm and protect him, no faith context to support him, and caught up in the gender confusion cult. These combined factors resulted in “red flag” behavior that should have set off alarms at his high school and law enforcement agencies, thus preventing him from legally obtaining a firearm. But once again, those alarms did not result in actionable deterrence. However, what I believe is the single most significant contributing factor scripting this particular type of assault, but one that will get the least attention, is the fact that the assailant was steeped in the desensitizing violence of video games — spending countless hours through his formative years in a fantasy first-person killing role. Tens of millions of young people are submersed in these games and don’t emerge as sociopathic killers. But in those rare instances when a young person does become a mass assailant, their pathology, combined with their killing fantasy, results in bloodshed.

Bergman: National Security Crisis: Russia’s and China’s Nuclear Threats

Russia has not only been modernizing its nuclear triad; it has also been developing new types of nuclear systems…. Russia, of course, is not the only nuclear threat to the United States. China has accelerated its nuclear buildup to the extent that Admiral Charles Richard, Commander of U.S. Strategic Command told the Senate Armed Services Committee last April, “For the first time in our history, the nation is on a trajectory to face two nuclear-capable, strategic peer adversaries at the same time, who must be deterred differently. We can no longer assume the risk of strategic deterrence failure in conflict will always remain low.” The Minuteman III ICBMs are badly in need of modernization — they were built in the 1970s and were originally intended to last for just 10 years. The development of a next-generation ICBM, known as the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) has been decided, but the process has proven slow and the Air Force only expects the GBSD to begin replacing Minuteman III in 2029. According to General John Hyten, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the GBSD system will not achieve initial operational capability until 2030, or full operational capability until 2035.

What’s going on?” he said back quickly, intrigued as my comment likely ran counter to the usual litany of more accommodating responses. “Our sister died from an overdose earlier today. You guys have been at our house for the last few hours. I just picked up my brother at the airport. We’re headed back there now. Olivastro. Call it in.” To say it so matter-of-factly haunts me still. But one’s senses are dulled quickly in the world of the opioid scourge. “You don’t want to go in there. Trust me, I’ve done more calls like this than I want to count, and you don’t want to see her this way.” 33 years young. It all came roaring back when I read about a 13-year-old overdosing and dying recently in Hartford, after bringing 40 bags of fentanyl into school.

The word “equity” itself has come to mean the opposite of the equal treatment the law calls for, and now means measures that the government employs to treat people differently based not on need, but on race, membership in an ethnic category the government has created for them in the first place, or on a predetermined victimhood status. The racial nature of the Equity Action Plans is now disguised in bureaucratic language. Fearing that the courts will reject these programs as discriminatory and unconstitutional, or that making policy choices based on race, ethnicity, or membership in a pre-selected victim category will be unpopular with the public, the Administration has concealed the race-consciousness behind such euphemisms as “underserved,” “marginalized,” and “disadvantaged.”

Lee: Abbott, FDA offer conflicting timelines for reopening shuttered infant formula plant

A senior official from the company at the center of the country’s infant formula shortages told lawmakers on Wednesday it can restart its now-shuttered plant as early as next week, disputing a timeline laid out just hours before by the head of the FDA. Christopher Calamari, who leads Abbott’s U.S. and Canada nutrition division, told lawmakers in sworn testimony Wednesday that the company hopes to reopen its now-shuttered plant in Sturgis, Mich. “the first week of June,” pending FDA approval. Abbott, one of the largest infant formula makers in the U.S., is working with the FDA under a legal agreement to reopen the site, which is estimated to control one-fifth of the country’s total formula supply. It was shut down in mid-February after an FDA inspection found multiple strains of a bacteria that is potentially deadly for infants. The shutdown and Abbott’s product recall of some formula made at the plant intensified formula shortages around the country.

The BLS measures the data on an annual basis from December 2020 through December 2021. The average rate of wage growth at a county level was 5.9%, far lower than the measured 8.5% inflation rate. That means real wages, the income of most Americans at the county level have dropped. However, within the data Florida stands out as having the largest number of counties exceeding the national average. 23 Florida counties are included in the BLS tracking.
