NOTABLE QUOTES

Brendan O’Neill contributor to American Compass: Many frail, elderly folk like to be taken for a walk every now and then. With Joe Biden it’s a little different. Old Joe is forever being walked back. Barely a week passes without the discombobulated president saying something crazy or inflammatory that is later ‘walked back’ by his minions in Washington. This week he casually threatened war with China. As you do. Most people who are slowly losing their faculties are guilty merely of the occasional social faux pas; Sleepy Joe, in contrast, risks blundering us all into world war.

Frederick Hink  contributor to American Thinker:We are not fighting Marxism, socialism, or communism.  This is a top-down revolution.  We are fighting a fascism that surpasses Mussolini’s and Hitler’s dreams of complete power over the people, for this is global in nature.  The sooner we can develop the strategy to stave off these attacks and possibly even beat them back, the sooner we can start the long march toward freedom once again.  Without defining and understanding the enemy, we will lose.

Patricia McCarthy contributor to American Thinker:Joe Biden is the worst president in my lifetime for countless reasons but his contempt for those of us who revere the Bill of Rights and the Constitution makes him the most dangerous.

Heather Mac Donald contributor to City Journal:Figures from President Biden on down are telling blacks, nonstop, that they are under lethal threat from whites, and that it is white supremacists, not black criminals, who pose the greatest threat to their safety. “Buffalo attack ignites safety worries for Black Angelenos,” reads a headline in the May 22 Los Angeles Times. New York representative Jerrold Nadler, a sponsor of the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act, says, “Democrats are taking the fight straight to the . . . violent extremists that are terrorizing minority institutions.” A Washington Post-Ipsos poll found that 75 percent of black Americans were very or somewhat worried that they or someone they love will be attacked because of their race. A respondent interviewed by the Post says that he is “apprehensive at stoplights, imagining a White man getting out and shooting him in his car.”

Bill Ackman  CEO Pershing Square Capital Management:  “The only way to stop today’s raging inflation is with aggressive monetary tightening or with a collapse in the economy. There is no prospect for a material reduction in inflation unless the Fed aggressively raises rates, or the stock market crashes, catalyzing an economic collapse and demand destruction.”

Oliver Traldi contributor to American Compass: We need and value expertise, yet we have no foolproof means for qualifying it. To the contrary, our public square tends to amplify precisely those least worthy of our trust. How should we decide who counts an expert, what topics their expertise properly addresses, and which claims deserve deference?

Dennis Prager contributor to American Greatness. . .9,941 black Americans were killed in 2020. Nearly all of them were killed by other black people. But to Joe Biden, his party, and the corporate left-wing media, those black lives don’t matter. At all. Why not? Because they weren’t killed by white supremacists, and they therefore don’t serve the Democrats’ deliberately divisive narrative.

Jessica McBride contributor to heavy.com: A reporter, John Mone, spoke to a man who knew the suspect’s grandmother. He described a scene in which Ramos was “angry that he did not graduate, and he got into an argument with the grandmother and she was screaming, ‘He shot me, He shot me.’” He then “zoomed down the street.” There was a crash. The suspect got out with two weapons and started firing. It was the first inkling of a possible motive. The Post reported that Ramos shot the students the day after his classmates graduated.

Andrew Pollack father of  daughter Meadow who was murdered in the 2018 Parkland shooting: -Armed guard -Single point of entry  -Teacher training We send out $Billions to other countries all the time. Why not fund school safety in America?

Mark Bauerlein contributor to American Greatness: At elite universities one must never, ever criticize students of color, especially the black students. Those individuals are sacred.

Luis Miguel contributor to The New American: The news of a drag queen story hour being hosted at the library of a U.S. Air Force base is another example of the continuous introduction of “woke” ideology into the military. In April, it was reported that the Air Force will be creating a “safe space” where recruits can partake in “healthy conversation” and “share perspectives.”

SECOND AMENDMENT THREAT

Wolverton, II, J.D.: New AI Can Detect Concealed Weapons in Public Places

If you carry a concealed weapon, there’s new artificial intelligence (AI) company that says its technology is designed to help security guards keep you out of public places. Peter George, the CEO of Boston-based AI firm Evolv Technology, hopes the device his company developed will help prevent armed atrocities like that recently committed in Buffalo, New York. “Could our system have stopped it?” he said, as quoted in The Washington Post. “I don’t know. But I think we could democratize security so that someone planning on hurting people can’t easily go into an unsuspecting place.” It’s this notion of identifying “someone planning on hurting people” where George’s technology proves problematic, at best. To see what I mean, here’s The Washington Post’s description of how the Evolv Technology scanner works: Evolv machines use “active sensing” — a light-emission technique that also underpins radar and lidar — to create images. Then it applies . . .[…]  See the problem? The scanner might (and I use that word on purpose and I’ll explain why a little later) be able to detect a weapon being carried by someone, but as any of the millions of gun owners in America could testify, carrying a gun and “planning on hurting people” are not at all the same thing. […]  Bill Gates and Jeb Bush are two of the notable investors in Evolv. […]  . . . the fact that Evolv scanners are showing up around the United States should be troubling to the millions of gun owners whose right to keep and bear arms — not to mention the more important natural right to protect oneself — will be denied everywhere these devices are deployed.

Author James Roguski of DontYouDare.Info talks about the World Health Assembly in Geneva, where there was a plan to ask nations to surrender their sovereignty to the World Health Organization in the event a pandemic is declared. “The good news is it appears that 12 of the 13 amendments have been taken off the table, because for some reason, they could not reach consensus. … What they’ve done, Steve, is they’re setting up yet another bureaucracy. They’re going to have a working group for the International Health Regulation … They never give up.”

WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM: GREAT GLOBAL RESET

Hink: Forget the Marxists: Here’s the Real Enemy of America

Fascism is an evolution of socialism.  The difference is how the economy is managed.  Ludwig von Mises summarized the primary differences between socialism (the Russian pattern) and fascism (the German pattern).  Socialism owns everything, and the individual is simply a serf to the state; fascism “preserves private ownership of the means of production and keeps the appearance of ordinary markets,” though these markets are highly controlled by the state.  The German pattern, Nazism, introduced, through its barbarity, the dark specter of fascism, but fascism’s evil birth was in Italy. […] Socialism enslaves the soul; fascism enslaves the illusion of freedom. Fascism has been described as Corporatism.  Many mistakenly believe that it was centered on capitalism and nationalism and was thus a right-wing movement.  It was not.  Mussolini termed Corporatism (the state) as a means of economic and societal organization and control within the confines of fascism; the state is the corporation, and the individual silos of the economy, which he termed syndicates, are the means to collectivize society. […]  No, Larry Fink, Bill Gates, George Soros, nor any of the other Davos creeps is a Mussolini lurking in the weeds.  Each of them is a steward of individual syndicates, but the power rests in the corporation: the World Economic Forum. Today, we see the WEF as the binding strap on the fascio, or syndicates.  It acts as both an ideological center and an organizing force for universally stated goals for the management of mankind.  A brief listing of these WEF U.S.-based partner corporations (below) demonstrates the syndicates organized under the umbrella of the corporation.

Sundance: Canadian Multinational Executive Outlines Tech Initiative to Create Consumer Carbon Footprint Tracker

It is important to remember the ultimate goal of the ‘climate change’ promotors (World Economic Forum) is not an energy system that changes the global climate. The goal of the ‘climate change’ group is to create a carbon trading system; a new financial mechanism (a global tax program) to control human activity on a world-wide basis.  This system also needs a digital identity in order to work {hint-hint}. You cannot tax, or trade, things you cannot track.  As a result, there was always going to be a need for an individual tracking and monitoring system that would connect to the global digital identity and determine the carbon footprint.  The carbon taxing and trading system will be more financially lucrative than any stock exchange or monetary banking system.  It is the ultimate human control mechanism, and the preferred way to redistribute wealth under the guise of global equity. […]  In essence, you are a parasite to earth; therefore, you must offset your derogatory footprint on the planet by paying a fee to exist.  If you cannot pay for the carbon credits needed to engage in the transaction (travel, home ownership, cooling, heating, etc.) you cannot engage in the regulated activity. [NOTE: Alibaba, developer of the carbon footprint tracker, is a Chinese tech giant.]

Winters: The World Economic Forum Deleted a Document Revealing That Wuhan’s Mayor Attended WEF Events.

The World Economic Forum has removed a document from its website, which revealed the attendance of the Mayor of the Chinese city of Wuhan – which hosts the lab believed to be responsible for COVID-19 –  at one of its events. Former Wuhan Mayor Tang Liangzhi is included on the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) list of attendees to its 2013 “Meeting of the New Champions.” The event, hosted in China, is described by the WEF as the “premier gathering in Asia of leaders of multinational corporations [and] governments.” “The Meeting was held in close collaboration with the Government of the People’s Republic of China,” explains the WEF meeting summary. […] The WEF has also been accused of exploiting COVID-19 to advance its transformational social, political, and business agenda through its push for the “Great Reset.”

DEEP STATE

Newman: Food Crisis Being Engineered by the Deep State

Catastrophic food shortages and even famine are being engineered by the Deep State in a bid to centralize control over the food supply and ultimately the population of the planet, warns The New American magazine’s Alex Newman in this episode of Behind The Deep State. Key globalist Deep State operatives such as Henry “New World Order” Kissinger have flirted with the idea of food shortages as a population-control weapon for generations. The goals are clear. And now, thanks to deliberate policy decisions taken by Deep State-controlled governments and organizations, a true food crisis of global proportions is emerging. Newman also provides ideas on how to deal with the coming threat–before it’s too late. You will want to share this one with your friends and family!

SUSSMAN TRIAL: WEEK TWO DAY TWO

Techno Fog: How FBI HQ hamstrung the Alfa Bank investigation

Today in the Michael Sussmann trial, we received additional information regarding the FBI leadership’s involvement in the opening – and execution – of the Alfa Bank/Trump investigation. This included FBI Headquarters not approving an FBI agent’s repeated requests to interview the sources of the Alfa Bank “materials.” But first we’ll start with the examination of Trisha Anderson. Anderson is currently the Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel. Back in 2016, she was an FBI deputy general counsel and reported directly to then-FBI general counsel James Baker. The purpose of her testimony was to prove-up her notes from a September 19, 2016 meeting she had with Baker, where Baker discussed his meeting with Michael Sussmann. (The notebook was necessary because Anderson didn’t recall the meeting itself.)

DURHAM INVESTIGATION

Sundance: Most Don’t Know it Was Andrew Weissmann Who Publicly Released the Carter Page FISA Application, Even Fewer Know Why

This has been one of the odd aspects to the special counsel investigation deployed under the nameplate of Robert Mueller.   However, with the trial of Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann bringing more curious minds to the backstories, here is one that few people understand.

You will remember the massive media debate in early 2018 about the FISA application deployed against former short-time Trump campaign aide Carter Page.  The DOJ, at the time under the control of the Mueller special counsel for all things Trump-Russia related, wouldn’t let congress see the FISA application. Devin Nunes complained to House Speaker Paul Ryan. Eventually a deal was struck and two members from the House Intelligence committee (democrats and republicans) and two members from the House Judiciary Committee, were allowed to go to Main Justice and read the FISA application, but not copy it.  Four congressmen were allowed to go read and take notes. Trey Gowdy and John Ratcliffe represented the two republicans, and their notes formed the basis for what later was called “The Nunes Memo.”

2020 ELECTION FRAUD

Troupis: The Cancer of Election Fraud

For those paying attention to detail, Dinesh D’Souza’s 2000 Mules provides evidence of what virtually everyone knows. Under the cover of COVID, and with the enormous boost from undisclosed financial backers, efforts were taken to deliver for tabulation as many ballots as possible, without regard to their source. That this investigative work must be undertaken by documentarians and concerned citizens represents the unconscionable failure of our courts to examine the relevant evidence. As Wisconsin’s Justice Rebecca Grassl Bradley wrote in her dissent to the majority decision in Trump v. Biden (2020),

The majority’s failure to act leaves an indelible stain on our most recent election. It will also profoundly and perhaps irreparably impact all local, statewide and national elections going forward, with grave consequences to the State of Wisconsin and significant harm to the rule of law (¶ 156 ).

Justice Thomas, joined by Justices Alito and Gorsuch, made a similarly pointed observation when the U.S. Supreme Court refused to review the evidence or the law in the 2020 election cases:

2022 PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Ballasy; Tuesday’s primaries good night for preferred GOP candidates, Trump candidates win in several states

The Tuesday primaries in four states went well for favored GOP candidates including two big wins for Trump-backed candidates in Georgia, despite the former president’s preferred candidate in the state’s Republican gubernatorial primary losing. In Georgia, Herschel Walker blew away the field of challengers in the GOP Senate primary and will now face incumbent Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock. However, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp easily held off Trump-back challenger former Sen. David Perdue in the state’s GOP gubernatorial primary. In addition, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger held off a challenge from his Donald Trump-backed opponent, Rep. Jody Hice, in the state’s Republican primary, according to NBC News.

Brown: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Fends Off Challenge from George P. Bush

The Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton, prevailed over primary challenger Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush in Tuesday’s runoff election that drew as close as ten points in polls leading up to the election. But on election day, to put it mildly, Paxton trounced Bush. Paxton was backed by former President Donald Trump who called the attorney general “strong on Crime, Border Security, the Second Amendment, Election Integrity and, above all, our Constitution” in his endorsement.

Mann: Michigan election bureau says 5 GOP challengers to Democrat Gov. Whitmer ineligible over signatures

The Michigan Bureau of Elections has ruled that five GOP candidates running to unseat Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are not eligible for the state’s August primary because of faulty signatures on their campaign petitions. The agency says the petitions in question include signatures from people paid to sign their names and the names of the deceased — a finding at least one campaign disputes. Released Monday night, the bureau’s report alleged that 18 petition circulators hired by GOP frontrunner James Craig, Detroit’s former police chief, submitted 10,000 invalid signatures. […] On Thursday, the state Board of Canvassers (comprised of two Democrats and two Republicans) will meet and decide whether the candidates will be able to appear on the ballot. If the bureau’s review holds, five of the 10 GOP candidates will be out of the race.

Babb: Stacey Abrams Twists Herself Into Knots Trying To Explain Away Surging Voter Turnout

Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams argued there was still voter suppression in Georgia despite record turnout during a press conference Tuesday. Abrams suggested that there is not a causal relationship between turnout and suppression before stating that turnout is actually the “antidote” to suppression in response to a reporter’s question on Georgia’s record voter turnout.

FAUCI’S VIRUS: IT’S POLITICAL

Alton, M.D.: Should We Censor Doctors?

Legislation entered in California’s state legislature has gone where Biden’s “disinformation bureau” couldn’t. Bill AB-2098  gives power to the state’s medical board to investigate and punish doctors whose advice and treatment regarding COVID-19 varies from the “applicable standard of care.”  Physicians in the medical establishment now have “disinformation” authority over others who dare to voice alternative options to their patients.  Consequences include actions that can take away a medical license.[…]  If today’s practicing physicians on the West Coast fail to toe the line and follow conventional dogma, they will suffer the penalty.  In leftist communities (of which there are plenty in California), dozens of complaints will be entered by activists against perfectly competent and caring practitioners.  Defending themselves against such complaints is risky for young doctors, many of whom have spouses and children to support. They will feel forced to follow the straight and very narrow path, even if that path isn’t in their patients’ best interests. At present, Bill AB-2098 refers specifically to advice and treatment relating to COVID-19.  A bill can be easily amended, however, to include another medical issue, then another, and another.  Eventually, there will be an infallible set of standards that cannot be violated.  If there’s a definition of a slippery slope in a medical dictionary, this is it.

Housman: New Study Finds That Long COVID May Not Actually Exist

A new National Institutes of Health (NIH) study is raising questions about just how real “long COVID” is.The study found that there was no evidence of long-term COVID-19 infection in patients who were six or more weeks removed from the onset of symptoms, even if those patients reported that they were experiencing “long COVID.” Further, the study found that individuals who reported having long COVID were disproportionately women and individuals with history of anxiety disorders.

Malkin: The Prosecution of Idaho Mom Sara Brady

. . .all is not and never will be back to “normal” in America. Never forget that citizens across this country still face tyrannical persecution and prosecution for defying COVID-19 tyranny just two short years ago. At the publicly owned Kleiner Park, I met and embraced mom of four Sara Brady, whom I recognized instantly from the worldwide viral video of her arrest in April 2020. “What ever happened to your case?” I asked. This un-American nightmare, it turns out, has yet to end. On April 21, 2020, Sara and other families had been enjoying fresh air and sunshine (God’s natural immunity and mental health boosters) amid a statewide shutdown of schools. She and other moms opposed a city order that playground equipment in a public park be wrapped in what amounted to crime tape. (That apocalyptic scene had been replicated all over this nation, including in my own neighborhood park.) Sara simply questioned aloud the junk science-rationale for punishing healthy children — while cops and park officials violated their own social-distancing rules and mask protocols. For her crimes of constitutionally protected peaceable assembly, petition for a redress of grievances and lawful dissent, Sara was shackled, placed in a patrol car, booked into Ada County jail and charged with misdemeanor trespassing by a grandstanding Republican state attorney general. […] Indeed, more than two years later, after dozens of online status hearings, two suspended trial dates, four different attorneys and nearly $30,000 in legal fees, Sara now awaits . . .

BIDENS UNCONSTITUTIONAL VACCINE MANDATES

AP: 3 Air Force cadets who refused Covid vaccination won’t be commissioned

Three cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy who have refused the Covid-19 vaccine will not be commissioned as military officers but will graduate with bachelor’s degrees, the academy said Saturday. Academy spokesman Dean Miller said that a fourth cadet who had refused the vaccine until about a week ago decided to be vaccinated and will graduate and become an Air Force officer. In a statement, Miller said that while the three will get a degree “they will not be commissioned into the United States Air Force as long as they remain unvaccinated.” He added that a decision on whether to require the three to reimburse the United States for education costs in lieu of service will be made by the secretary of the Air Force.

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING FOREIGN POLICY

O’Neill: The accidental warmonger

Joe Biden’s ineptitude is now a threat to world peace. […]  Now, many of us agree, of course, that it is ‘just not appropriate’ for China to take Taiwan by force, or even to think about doing so. Taiwan should be left alone. But that’s not the point. What you or I say about Taiwan is very different from what the most powerful man in the Western world says about it. As president, Biden’s duty is not to express personal frustration or animosity towards leaders and states he doesn’t like – it is to embody American principles and policies that have been painstakingly discussed and agreed upon; it is to think and speak adroitly on matters of state. In response to Biden’s latest Beijing-infuriating gaffe, David Sacks of the Council on Foreign Relations said: ‘When he’s speaking on this [issue], he’s reflecting his personal views rather than the result of coordinated or rigorous interagency process.’ I’m sorry, but that sounds terrifying to me. That a man with such extraordinary power, a man with his finger on the button of thousands of nukes, is approaching incredibly difficult, touchy matters of global significance from a ‘personal’ standpoint is bizarre, and chilling. […]  What’s driving Biden’s foreign-policy blunders? Some say . . .

Raleigh: Why Biden’s Contradictions On Taiwan Are Dangerous

In an interview with ABC News in August and at a CNN town hall event in October 2021, Biden made similar comments, suggesting the United States would defend Taiwan against China. Each time, senior administration officials immediately contradicted Biden by stating that the U.S. government’s policy concerning Taiwan “has not changed.” Such contradictions have raised questions, including who is in charge of U.S. policy on Taiwan and what that policy is. The lack of clarity on these questions is precarious, and not just for the future of Taiwan. Historically, the U.S. government has followed a policy of “strategic ambiguity” created by the 1979  Taiwan Relations Act. That doesn’t guarantee the U.S. defense of Taiwan in the event of Communist China’s invasion, but it doesn’t rule out U.S. involvement in defending Taiwan either. […]  Yet the Biden administration so far has created more confusion domestically and internationally rather than presenting any strategic clarity. Since day one, the Biden administration has stated it would continue the “strategic ambiguity” policy toward Taiwan. But President Biden publicly declared several times that the U.S. military would help defend Taiwan in a Chinese invasion. Each time, senior administration officials immediately walked back Biden’s comments as if he never meant what he said. There are three possible explanations. It could be that . . .

Paul: What’s Biden’s End Game in Ukraine?

Last week, President Biden signed a massive $40 billion military aid bill for Ukraine. Who cares that inflation is killing the American economy and mothers can’t even get baby formula. For Washington, spending on war and empire always seems to trump America’s interests. To put this giveaway to Ukraine in perspective: just since late February, the US has provided nearly $60 billion in “assistance” to Ukraine. That is almost half that country’s entire 2020 GDP! Washington has literally adopted Ukraine in our name and on our dime. The Biden Administration claims that Ukraine is winning the war with Russia and that such an expenditure to protect Ukraine’s borders is critical to our national interests and worth risking a nuclear war over. But protecting Ukraine’s democracy is no longer the stated goal of the Administration. Defense Secretary Austin outlined the Administration’s new intention not long ago when he said that the real goal is to weaken Russia. Biden’s neocons are fighting a war with Russia, but once again Congress has no interest in voting on a war declaration or even in debating whether war with Russia 30 years after the end of the Cold War is a good idea.

York: Did Putin Wait Until Biden Became President to Invade Ukraine?

In the days after Russia attacked Ukraine, there was a lot of talk among Republicans that Vladimir Putin would not have invaded had Donald Trump still been president. Trump was so difficult to predict, so impulsive, so impetuous, the thinking went, that Putin would not have risked a massive U.S. response under Trump. “The sheer unpredictability of Trump, his anger at being defied or disrespected, his willingness to take the occasional big risk (the Soleimani strike), all had to make Putin frightened or wary of him in a way that he simply isn’t of Joe Biden,” National Review editor Rich Lowry tweeted. The anti-Trump crowd scoffed. Trump was Putin’s stooge, they said. […] Now, though, the side skeptical that Putin would have acted had Trump been president has gotten some support from an unlikely source. Fiona Hill, the Russia expert, former senior National Security Council aide in the Trump White House and star witness against Trump in his first impeachment, appeared recently on a program sponsored by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Discussing the Ukraine war, Hill suggested that Putin waited to invade Ukraine until Biden became president, preferring Biden’s “predictability” to Trump’s volatility.

Senator Hawley: No to Neoconservatism

Not so long ago, Republicans said they had sworn off nation-building. Following the failure of the neoconservative project in Iraq and Afghanistan, GOP leaders seemed to have learned their lesson. But apparently not. Now nation-building is back with force, with a massive aid package to Ukraine that makes that country a US client state. Up next: a debate over expanding NATO. Many Republicans in Congress have already lined up to support both, almost reflexively. Why? Perhaps because they have forgotten their foreign-policy heritage. They have traded the nationalism of Theodore Roosevelt for the globalism of Woodrow Wilson. That’s a mistake. What America needs is not nation-building, but nationalism. Start with the $40 billion Ukraine package. The cost alone is startling. It is three times what all of Europe has contributed to date and roughly the size of Ukraine’s entire national budget. Speaking of which, the bill includes funds for Ukraine’s treasury to the tune of $8.8 billion. And Biden administration officials suggest they will soon ask for more. This goes far beyond targeted military assistance. This package treats Ukraine as a client state of America, a fraught relationship that will put us on the hook for financing the war and then the reconstruction. “This package treats Ukraine as a client state of America.” If this isn’t a classic case of misplaced priorities, I don’t know what is. […]  For years now, leaders in both parties have enthusiastically advocated a Wilsonian globalism that seeks to remake the world. I say Wilsonian, because the first major figure in US history to advocate it was Woodrow Wilson, elected president in 1912. He disliked the order of independent nation-states, believing it led too often to war. He wanted to replace competition among sovereign nations with a global system of mutual cooperation and international law. He also strenuously favored promoting democracy abroad.

Bakst & Spencer: Price Controls on Fuel Would Be Disastrous for Americans

In classic Washington style, liberals in Congress are advancing a bill that most assuredly would make a bad situation much worse. In response to soaring fuel prices, liberals seek to shift blame away from Bidenflation and onto producers through the so-called Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act.  A more appropriate title would be the “Driving Up Prices and Fuel Rationing Act,” because that is exactly what it would do. The bill would empower state and federal authorities to bring civil actions against fuel suppliers who engage in what the bill terms “unconscionable pricing.” By using highly subjective and undefinable terms to trigger action against fuel suppliers (over unlimited timeframes), the bill would provide politicians and bureaucrats near limitless power to interfere with energy markets.

Pullmann: Biden Admin: K-12 Schools Must Put Boys In Girls’ Bathrooms To Get Federal Lunch Money

[…] A U.S. Department of Education spokesman told The Federalist the Biden administration’s press releases from several agencies announcing this policy will be followed by formal rulemaking in June. “It seems to be playing politics with feeding poor kids, which is really unfortunate,” John Elcesser, executive director of the Indiana Non-Public Education Association, said via phone amid weeks of attempting to sort out these new demands with government officials on behalf of private schools in his state. “Because if a school feels like they cannot participate because it’s in conflict with their mission or values, if a religious exemption is not granted, you’re taking away a program that’s feeding low-income kids.”

Kredo: Biden Admin Withholds Info on Bungled Afghanistan Withdrawal, Lawsuit Says

The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) is petitioning a district court in Washington, D.C., to force the State Department to release communications records related to the 2021 Afghanistan evacuation. This would include information “related [to the] vetting of Afghan refugees, and the number of U.S. citizens and lawful residents that were or were not evacuated from Afghanistan,” according to a copy of the lawsuit obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The Biden administration has yet to provide the American public with a full accounting of those who were left behind in Afghanistan once the Taliban took over and American troops left the country, including the exact number of U.S. citizens and Afghans who aided the American government during the 20-year war. U.S. officials also have evaded congressional investigations into the matter and misled lawmakers for months about the number of Americans trapped in the country once the Taliban cut off access to airports. The Biden administration has thus far rebuffed congressional efforts and those from outside groups to determine how it is vetting scores of Afghan refugees that have been brought into the United States since the withdrawal, including how these individuals are being screened for terrorism ties.

Biden Admin Wants Your Blackout Emergency Kit To Include ‘Sustainably Sourced’ Utensils, Dinnerware

The recommendation was part of a guide published by the Department of Energy (DOE) for helping Americans prepare for blackouts over the summer. The agency noted that blackouts can occur during extreme weather events like hurricanes and thunderstorms, which may knock down regional power infrastructure, or demand overload triggered by high seasonal temperatures. “Have sustainably sourced disposable utensils and dinnerware on hand so you do not need to use water to wash dishes,” the DOE blog post, written by Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy official Scott Minos, stated.

Terrell: Carbon Capture or Taxpayer Trap?

Congress and the Biden Administration are dedicating billions of taxpayer dollars to reach net-zero carbon use by 2050. Two of their pet projects are carbon capture and storage, and carbon dioxide removal, technologies that play a major role in the Department of Energy’s recently announced Earthshots Initiative. Isaac Orr, policy fellow at the Center of the American Experiment joins The New American to discuss these technologies and what government subsidies hold in store for the ongoing energy crisis.

Prager: Biden’s Buffalo Speech Was the Speech of an Indecent Man

If an American president has ever given as mendacious, anti-American and hate-filled a speech as Joe Biden did in Buffalo, New York, last week, I am not familiar with it. Nor are you. Biden used the terrible mass shooting of black people in a Buffalo grocery store to smear America, divide Americans and foment race-based hatred. A decent man would have given an entirely different speech. A decent man would have gone to Buffalo and said something like this:

Barnett: ‘For God’s sake …’: Joe Biden and the Texas tragedy

For God’s sake, Mister President, don’t turn this tragedy into cheap political capital. I just watched President Joe Biden take a stab at playing the role of America’s “mourner in chief,” a role his Democratic predecessor, Bill Clinton, managed quite well.  That may, in fact, have been the only thing Clinton did which actually helped the country.  For all his many failings, Clinton knew the importance of helping people cope with tragedy.Unfortunately, Joe Biden didn’t crib this page from Bill Clinton’s playbook. He made it partisan fairly quickly, blaming the tragedy on the “gun lobby” and “gun manufacturers.” […]  Children had just died, yet he spent his brief talk questioning the value of a kind of firearm that may have had nothing to do with the shooting. Until he uttered this, nobody knew for sure what kind of weapon had been used, and millions may now presume this shooting was accomplished by a weapon that has become a symbol and stalking horse of the anti-gun lobby.  So far, what we do know seems to challenge Biden’s politically-motivated assumption.  Texas Governor Greg Abbott reported that the shooter “entered the school with a handgun and possibly a rifle …” The Governor said nothing about an assault weapon, and he is in the position to know.

Mac Donald: Using Tragedy for Racial Propaganda

. . . what is not justified, especially from the nation’s political leaders, is racial propaganda. Biden’s recurring suggestions that white hate crimes are America’s dominant reality are false. Whites are not the biggest source of hate crime and interracial violence in the U.S.; blacks are. From 2016 to 2020, blacks nationally were twice as likely to commit a hate crime as whites, according to FBI data, among hate-crime suspects whose race and ethnicity were known. Local data tell the same story. In New York City, from 2010 to 2020, blacks were 2.42 times as likely as whites to commit a hate crime, among hate-crime suspects whose race and ethnicity were known. Blacks in Los Angeles committed anti-Asian hate crimes at 4.8 times the rate of whites in 2021, according to internal LAPD data. Blacks in L.A. committed anti-gay hate crimes at seven times the rate of whites, and anti-Semitic hate crimes at 2.4 times the rate of whites, among hate-crime suspects whose race and ethnicity were known. Blacks committed anti-trans hate crimes at 2.5 times the rate of Hispanics; there were no white suspects in anti-trans hate crimes in L.A. in 2021.

Wegmann: Immigration Disappears From Kamala Harris’ Public Schedule

A compilation of that schedule by the Los Angeles Times, reviewed by RealClearPolitics, shows that Harris has not hosted an immigration-specific event since last summer. The last one, a meeting with Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander leaders in the White House last August, touched briefly on immigration. White House officials dispute any characterization that Harris’ public schedule tells the whole story. “The vice president continues to lead implementation of the Root Causes Strategy and has been engaging with Cabinet and other Administration officials on this effort,” Harris’ Press Secretary Kirsten Allen told RCP.

Mann: Biden to sign executive order on police accountability on second anniversary of George Floyd killing

President Biden is expected to sign an executive order Wednesday directing federal law enforcement agencies to rethink and revise their policies for use of force and create a national registry to track law enforcement officers whose positions are terminated due to misconduct. […]  In addition to the registry and revision of use-of-force guidelines, Biden’s order will reportedly provide law enforcement agencies guidance for how to screen their officers for inherent bias, including white supremacist views. The Times additionally reports that the order will provide resources for increased collection of data on use-of-force incidents.

CLIMATE EMERGENCY: IT’S POLITICAL

Orlowski: How the big banks fell to climate panic

HSBC has suspended one of its most senior global risk managers. At an industry event last week, Stuart Kirk – global head of responsible investments at HSBC Asset Management – took aim at how risk managers and central banks have exaggerated the risks posed by climate change. Within hours, he was hung out to dry. In his presentation, Kirk warned that he was going to utter a ‘heresy’ – that ‘climate change is not a financial risk we need to worry about’. Kirk, who had cleared his presentation with HSBC management, emphasised that he wasn’t challenging the IPCC’s scientific assessments or the likelihood of more extreme climate events – ‘there will be fires’, he said, for example. He also urged the financial industry ‘to make money from the transition’. Kirk’s ire was directed at the quality of the industry’s risk analysis, much of which, he said, wildly exaggerates the potential damage from climate change. He also chafed at the increasing amount of regulation that analysts are now obliged to follow in order to accommodate apocalyptic climate predictions. This consumes a disproportionate amount of his team’s work, he complained. Not only is the potential damage from climate change a distant problem, Kirk argued, but also, with the right policies and continuing economic growth, societies can take it all in their stride. […]  Kirk’s observations were ‘offensive and inaccurate’, according to one activist who campaigns for lower investment in gas, coal and oil energy. Worse for Kirk, his boss at HSBC, Nuno Matos, doubled down on the pieties now expected of finance chiefs. ‘The transition to Net Zero is of utmost importance to us and we will strive for ways to help our clients on this journey’, Matos intoned.

THE DEMOCRAT PARTY’S MARXIST PLAYBOOK: ANTI-POLICE  ANTI-VICTIM  PRO-CRIMINAL

Gelinas: Terror in the Tunnels

On Sunday, Daniel Enriquez became the New York City subway’s latest “random” crime victim, shot in the chest at close range and killed as he traveled from Brooklyn to Manhattan for midmorning brunch. Enriquez was the fourth person to die by violence on the subway this year, and the third to be killed by a stranger. Each of the four subway killings has something in common with the others: justified intervention by police, prosecution, or incarceration could have prevented it. A few years ago, it likely would have. New York is suffering soaring crime because it has abruptly switched its justice system from enlightened prevention to gruesome mop-up. […]  Last month, 98 violent felonies took place on the subways, up from 66 in April 2019, despite ridership being just 60 percent of the pre-Covid normal. “It keeps happening and nobody does anything,”  . . .

Clark: Loyola Schools Teacher Allegedly Bragged About Wearing Women’s Underwear To School, Coming Out To Students

An LGBT-identifying male teacher allegedly boasted about wearing women’s undergarments to work and coming out to high school students at a private Jesuit school, according to posts shared with the Daily Caller from an individual who infiltrated an LGBT professionals Facebook page. Loyola School of New York City teacher Matt Windels appears to have posted to a Facebook group for LGBT professionals bragging about feeling his “best teacher self” for wearing women’s underwear “on a work day.” He reportedly said that he planned to come out as non-binary and bisexual to high school students, according to screenshotted posts from a private Facebook group shared with the Caller.

EDUCATION INDOCTRINATION

Bauerlein: Race-Based Illness at the Best of the Best

It looks like the long persecution of Professor Joshua Katz by his employer Princeton University has come to an end. The Washington Free Beacon reported last week that the school president “passed his recommendation that Katz be stripped of his tenure and fired to the university board of trustees,” and the board rubber-stamped it Monday. The whole episode nicely exemplifies the cowardice and incompetence of the liberals who run elite institutions in the United States today. […]  Katz’s current sin originates far from the Princeton campus, on the website Quillette, where on July 8, 2020, he published a piece called “A Declaration of Independence by a Princeton Professor.”  That word independence should clue you in immediately to the danger Katz risked when he wrote the essay, for few personality traits are more ruinous in the academic habitat than that of one’s willingness to dissent, to go one’s own way, to gainsay conventional wisdom. For all of the humanities professoriate’s praise of “speaking truth to power,” it is a profession populated by timid conformists with fearful sensibilities. Few fields in the world exert and police their dogmas more vigilantly than does that of our tenured wordsmiths. Katz was doing what all of them pretend to do but don’t—and so he had to pay. The essay was not an original or separate expression. It followed from something else, an antiracism initiative of his colleagues at Princeton, which they laid out in a forceful letter addressed to Princeton’s high administrators and dated July 4, 2020.

Housman: Monkeypox Outbreak Appears To Be Driven By Gay Sex, Health Authorities Say

The global spread of monkeypox is largely being driven by sex between homosexual males, health authorities are warning. Most of the roughly 200 confirmed cases throughout North America and Europe can be linked to sex among men, the World Health Organization said Monday. The numbers have grown exponentially since two cases were confirmed in the United Kingdom less than two weeks ago, the first cases of 2022 identified outside Africa. […]  Symptoms include fever, aches, exhaustion, and a rash that often begins on the face and spreads to the rest of the body, especially the genitals. The pathogen does not typically spread easily between humans.

Brown: We Now Know Who Stopped the Uvalde Shooter

Uvalde, Texas, is home to a Border Patrol station due to its proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border some 70 miles away. […] The selfless act of this heroic agent was the result of split-second thinking and a decision to risk his own life without knowing exactly what he was running into and without anyone covering his back. As The AP noted, the agent “was wounded but able to walk out of the school.” Thanks to this yet-unnamed border agent’s quick action, many more students and teachers were able to do the same Tuesday afternoon. [NOTE: The most recent report is that 19 students and one teacher were murdered.]

Novielli: ACOG changes definitions of ‘early term’ and ‘late term’ abortion – but why?

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has released its guide for language on abortion. In it, the organization claims that the term “late-term abortion” has “no clinical or medical significance.” However, the phrase “late-term abortion” has been used by the abortion industry and media alike for decades to define abortions committed later in pregnancy. The changing of the ACOG’s terminology has historically been beneficial to the abortion industry — and this change is no different. The ACOG, whose pro-abortion stance was led by population control enthusiasts, has come to the defense of abortion for years. Back in the 1960s, the organization chose to redefine the term “conception” — the word long-understood to mean the creation of a new, unique human life beginning at fertilization — to implantation — the point at which a new human life implants in the uterine wall. This was done to accommodate a pro-abortion, pro-contraception agenda. […] Now, ACOG has set its sights on “late-term abortion,” claiming, “This phrase has no clinical or medical significance.”   […] According to ACOG’s new guide, abortions between 37 and 38 weeks will now technically be called “early term” and should be recorded as such. This will obscure from the public how many abortions are actually occurring late in pregnancy.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) researchers have discovered “something weird” transpiring in the cosmos that has stumped modern scientists. The most recent anomaly follows breakthroughs in the study of “dark energy,” the release continued. NASA defined dark energy as “a mysterious repulsive force accelerating the universe’s expansion,” the release noted.
