A questionable study by a Cornell University climate scientist gave climate activists and the media ammunition to wage a pressure campaign against the Biden administration to take action against liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. Cornell’s Robert Howarth authored the October 2023 study, which purported to find that lifecycle emissions associated with LNG exports are far greater than those attributable to domestically-mined coal. Numerous media outlets, including The New York Times, amplified the study, and climate activists lobbying the Biden administration to kill LNG exports cited it as evidence to substantiate their position before the White House announced the moratorium on LNG export terminal approvals on Jan. 26. […] Howarth‘s findings contradict plenty of existing research on the subject, including two Department of Energy (DOE) studies from 2014 and 2019, which concluded that American LNG exports to Asia and Europe do not create more lifecycle emissions than regionally-mined coal when used to generate power. The Cornell professor’s study has drawn the ire of the oil and gas industry, which has pointed out that Howarth‘s most recent findings are detached from a robust body of research on the subject. “Dr. Robert Howarth openly admitted he prematurely released his not-yet-peer-reviewed study in order to influence politics and advance activist agendas against responsible oil and gas development”. . .

The news comes from trade group, Offshore Energies U.K. (OEUK), whose analysis, far from unexpected, details the pressures on investment in conventional energy production, such as the windfall tax on oil and gas companies. Since the turn of the century, U.K. production of energy has fallen by two thirds, whereas consumption has fallen by a third. The difference has been met by an increased dependence on imports. Yet neither the report itself, which is at best agnostic about renewables, nor the stories that cover it, seem to have taken seriously the harm that Net Zero and adjacent agendas have done to our industries, businesses and economy – and are set to do worse. […] It is as if the entire political establishment had at once decided to forget that there exists a relationship between scarcity and price. Yet, the effect of abolishing coal is just that: it creates scarcity. So too, do policies that either restrict the exploration of oil and gas, or increase the cost of capital, create scarcity. Politicians, lobbied by green billionaires’ ersatz ‘civil society’ organizations who pump false claims into the public sphere, then claim that the problem all along was ‘dependence’ on oil and gas. Green energy will lower prices and diminish the power of dictators, who turn energy into a ‘weapon’ that terrorizes Europe, they claim. So successful are they in their policymaking that, since 2019, the Government has capped energy prices – a policy they stole from Ed Miliband in 2017, before taking us into Net Zero. If ‘green’ means anything at all, it means acute cognitive dissonance.

The FBI is attempting to rehabilitate the public image of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act as Congress has until April 19 to reauthorize it. The bureau recently posted a video to X that features FBI Director Christopher Wray attempting to put a gloss on Section 702 as part of this months-long campaign. The bureau’s timely propaganda did not escape the attention of critics on X, where the post received a community note that read, “The FBI violated American citizens’ 4A rights 278,000 times with illegal, unauthorized FISA 702 searches.”

Among the critics was Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), who wrote, “FBI just got called out in a community note on X. Congress — take note. The chaplains say the Department of Defense continues to defy a 2023 law rescinding its Covid vaccine mandate. A healthy little Dutch girl without a proper name died 52 years ago. Scientists keep her kidney’s cells multiplying in a process similar to cancer. They perform increasing numbers of experiments on derivatives of this baby girl’s kidney cells to develop technologies that include taste-testing experiments for PepsiCo. Her vivisection forms “the backbone of the global gene therapy market.” Scientists call the baby girl HEK 293. HEK stands for “human embryonic kidney,” and 293 means she was the 293rd experiment in a set. She likely died from an elective abortion, not a miscarriage, concludes a 2006 journal article and many other scientific publications. An older gestational age and harvesting her kidney while still alive would have made her more useful for experimentation, as Planned Parenthood officials affirmed of their baby harvesting operations in 2015. Like many medications, Covid-19 vaccines and therapeutics were tested on cells made from HEK 293’s kidney. Some of the vaccines have HEK 293 cells inside them. That’s one of several reasons Capt. Rob Nelson, an Air Force chaplain, couldn’t in good conscience accept those treatments despite massive pressure from the military, he told The Federalist in a phone interview. “I have five [children], and it breaks my heart to think of this. This girl continues to be violated as her cells are replicated over and over again,” he said. […] The DOD continues to violate the law by failing to rescind its punishments of conscientious objectors such as denied training and deployments required for promotions, the petition says. In addition, of course, denying soldiers’ religious exercise violates the First Amendment’s guarantee that all Americans can freely exercise their faith in their everyday lives.

A human case of H5N1, also known as bird flu, has been identified in Texas, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The federal agency notes the risk to the public remains low. Human infections with H5N1 virus are rare, yet exposure to infected animals can pose a risk of getting sick, according to the CDC. The virus has not been found to spread person-to-person.

While the votes haven’t been fully counted, enough of the votes have come in to say that Wisconsin’s Question 1 ending the private funding of elections, also known as ‘Zuckerbucks’ for the massive injection of cash by the Facebook boss that some say may have swung the 2020 election, has passed and will become the law. The majority of people across Wisconsin voted to end the practice except in Milwaukee, Madison’s Dane and Iowa counties, and a few of the other predictable places. The Zuckerbucks faction seemingly wasn’t hopeful and made sure the money got in before the votes came in. Milwaukee received more than $1 million in private donations to help administer elections nearly a week before residents decide whether injecting private funding into elections is unconstitutional. […] While Question Two has flown under the radar, it’s arguably even more important. “Shall section 7 (2) of article III of the constitution be created to provide that only election officials designated by law may perform tasks in the conduct of primaries, elections, and referendums?” And it’s currently winning by a more decisive margin of nearly 60%.

While U.S. Naval assets have been actively shooting down Houthi-launched drones and missiles in the Red Sea at a breakneck pace over the previous month, the Navy’s presence in the western Pacific is increasingly important, experts and U.S. officials said. In March, Navy ships were glued to areas where Chinese military vessels conducted intense drills and stepped up aggression against Taiwanese citizens and territory long viewed as an integral part of China and target for takeover, according to media reports. “Over the Easter Holiday a significant naval presence was visible near a long standing flashpoint — the South China Sea,” Brent Sadler, a former Navy officer and senior researcher at the Heritage Foundation, said in a social media post on Tuesday. Low-intensity conflict on the seas could increase in the spring, he predicted. […] “The security environment is the most dangerous I’ve seen in 40 years in uniform,” outgoing commander of Indo-Pacific Command Adm. John Aquilino told Congress on March 20. “We haven’t faced a threat like this since World War II,” he added.

As Israel has pursued its righteous war of defense against Hamas aggression, the Biden administration and its allies in the media have become increasingly uncomfortable with its success. After initially supporting Israel in the wake of the Oct. 7 atrocities, they have by and large turned on it entirely. For the corporate media, this was almost immediate; once Israel shifted — in their minds — from victim to victimizer, the game was up. This occurred before the bodies of the innocents massacred by Hamas were even cold. But the Biden administration, to its credit, stood with Israel for significantly longer. It sent a carrier strike group to the region, provided diplomatic cover at the United Nations, and advocated for a forceful Israeli response to Hamas. Unfortunately, however, the turn has come for the White House as well.

Largely driven by electoral concern over its hardcore leftist base — amplified by like-minded media and Democrat staffers — the administration has significantly pulled back support in the past few months. It has rhetorically attacked the Israeli military for what it claims are “excessive” civilian casualties, despite the fact that Hamas casualty counts are likely invented out of whole cloth and Israel’s tactical urban warfighting has been by and large exemplary. It has worked hand-in-glove with the Qataris — Iranian partners and Hamas backers — to push for a ceasefire deal that would only benefit the Palestinian terrorists who seek time to rearm and regroup.

In one of the more high profile cases involving Qatar’s financing of terrorism, the family of murdered American journalist Steven Sotloff claimed in a federal lawsuit in 2022 that prominent Qatari institutions wired $800,000 to an Islamic State “judge” who ordered the murder of Sotloff and another American journalist, James Foley. The two were beheaded in Syria in 2014, their killings filmed and published in grisly propaganda videos.
The US moved its forces to Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base from Saudi Arabia in 2003, after the 9/11 attacks on the US in 2001. There seems no reason why it could not be moved once again to a country in the region that does not support terror groups.
Of even greater concern [than Qatar contributing $5.1 billion to US campuses since 1986], though, is the Biden administration’s willingness to allow Qatar to play a prominent role in negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza and manage humanitarian aid delivered to a new pier being built in Gaza, even though Doha’s negotiating status and that of a potential caretaker have been thoroughly compromised through its involvement in creating Hamas’s terrorist infrastructure.
Given Qatar’s well-documented support for Hamas, it is clear . . .

The Congressional Budget Office warned in its latest projections that US federal government debt is on a path from 97% of GDP last year to 116% by 2034 – higher even than in World War II. The actual outlook is likely worse. From tax revenue to defense spending and interest rates, the CBO forecasts released earlier this year are underpinned by rosy assumptions. Plug in the market’s current view on interest rates, and the debt-to-GDP ratio rises to 123% in 2034. Then assume – as most in Washington do – that ex-President Donald Trump’s tax cuts mainly stay in place, and the burden gets even higher. With uncertainty about so many of the variables, Bloomberg Economics has run a million simulations to assess the fragility of the debt outlook. In 88% of the simulations, the results show the debt-to-GDP ratio is on an unsustainable path – defined as an increase over the next decade. If a squatter just lies about having a lease, the police won’t intervene. “It’s a civil matter,” they’ll say. “Sort it out in court.” Great. Court might cost $20,000. Or more. And courts are so slow, eviction might take years. In my state, New York, homeowners can’t even shut of utilities to try to get the squatter out. That’s illegal. Worse, once a squatter has been there 30 days, they are legally considered a tenant. […] Why do squatters feel entitled to other people’s property? Probably because people hate landlords. They listen to silly people like Marxist New School professor Miguel Robles-Duran, who calls landlords “parasites” who “provide no social value.” Popular TikTok socialist Madeline Pendleton adds that landlords have “guaranteed forever incomes, without having to put in any labor.”

But in fact, this toxic creature has a long lineage that leads back to Rousseau and the French Revolution in the 18th century, Marx and Engels in the 19th, and the Russian Revolution in the 20th. Then there’s Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937), whose revolutionary writings – notably his theory of hegemony – have made him, in the authors’ words, “the unrivaled Marxist political theorist of the past half century.” (And guess who, of all people, is America’s “top Gramsci scholar”? None other than Pete Buttigieg’s father, Joseph. It’s one of a number of surprises here – surprises that, perhaps, shouldn’t be quite so surprising.)

In 2010, sociologist James Davison Hunter, famous for, among other things, popularizing the term “culture war” provocatively argued in To Change the World: The Irony, Tragedy, and Possibility of Christianity in the Late Modern World that conservative Christian attempts to restore Christian values on American society were misguided, if not harmful. Such efforts to “redeem America,” argued Hunter, not only hadn’t worked but would never work, both because they represented an erroneous grasp of how cultures change, and because they distracted the faithful from their real task as Christians. Instead, Christians should pursue what Hunter termed “faithful presence,” by focusing on living authentically Christian lives in our families, communities, and spheres of influence, rather than programmatic political or cultural solutions. Almost 15 years removed from Hunter’s book, things look quite a bit gloomier for Christianity in America. […] We inhabit an America less friendly to Christianity than was the case halfway through Obama’s first term as president. Various political, cultural, and demographic trends suggest that antipathy will only grow in the years to come. In Pagan America: The Decline of Christianity and the Dark Age to Come, Federalist Senior Editor John Daniel Davidson offers an even more pessimistic perspective: We’re already in a post-Christian society that is paganizing (or re-paganizing, to take the long historical view) in ways that will make life increasingly difficult and dangerous for American Christians.

I won’t go into the specifics of it here — my friend Dave Marcus has already laid out why this was a blatant attack on Christianity and a slap in the face to Christians — but focus instead on the larger story within which the Transgender Day of Visibility incident fits.

That story, put simply, is the retreat of Christianity in the West and the emergence of a new religious faith in its place — a new paganism. What comes amid the decline of the Christian faith is not some live-and-let-live secular liberal utopia, not a rational and atheistic political order with neutral public spaces and a culture of tolerance. Instead, we have a new form of paganism with its own moral precepts, obligations, and rites. And unlike the secular liberal order, which embraced tolerance and pluralism as an inheritance from Christianity, the pagan order will be intolerant in the extreme. Let me clarify my terms. By “paganism” I don’t necessarily mean a flood of new converts to the cult of Zeus or Woden (although that too is on the rise, at least in Britain). The postmodern pagan culture that’s now emerging won’t look like the paganism of the past, but it will be no less pagan for all that.

On a Sabbath morning, three Islamic terrorists invaded the Israeli village of Adora located in the Judean Mountains in the rebuilt vicinity of a city dating back to the reign of King Solomon. The Jihadists had carefully picked the Sabbath morning when many of the men and some of the women would be praying in the synagogue. To fool what few families were at home, they wore the uniforms of Israeli soldiers as they entered their houses. At the Shefi family home, Jacob Shefi, a policeman, was in the synagogue and his wife Shiri was in the bedroom playing with their three children, 5-year-old Danielle, 4-year-old Uriel and 2-year-old Eliad, when one the terrorists burst into the bedroom. Danielle had wanted to go to the synagogue, but her mother insisted on doing her hair first. […] But few remembered and the world moved on. One of the terrorists from the Adora attack was released as part of the disastrous Shalit hostage exchange deal in 2011. Fadi Mohammed Salaam Dewik, that terrorist, rose through the ranks and became a senior figure in Hamas. After Israel had finished its previous raid on the Al-Shifa hospital, the Qatari base used by Hamas, Dewik along with many other terrorists returned to the hospital. […] The terrorist who had taken part in the murder of a 5-year-old girl died in a place of children. Justice had been delayed for 22 years before finally catching up with Fadi Mohammed Dewik.

Kaufman: Attempted Islamist Infiltration of the Republican Party

In February, I attended a local Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) meeting. I had been rushing over from another event, so I came in towards the tail end. Being a candidate for US Congress, I was given the opportunity to say a few words in front of the group. In the midst of my speech, I observed someone in the small crowd who seemed familiar to me. Following the meeting, after speaking with a couple of people, I headed outside. I soon was approached by the gentleman I had noticed. He said my name. I immediately knew who it was – Corey Shearer. Corey Shearer is the Florida Outreach Lead for Emgage, an Islamist group that disguises its extremist agenda as political advocacy. The group’s former South Florida Director Syed Ammar Ahmed, once joked that he “should have threatened to blow up” a school he had participated in a debate at. The group’s founder and former Chairman Khurrum Wahid is a South Florida lawyer who represents high-profile convicted terrorists and, reportedly, was placed on a federal terrorist watch list, himself, in 2011. Emgage has infiltrated the Democratic Party in a very big way, but so far, the group has had little to no interaction with Republicans. Seeing Shearer at the RLC meeting is a major concern.

[…] I also have written about Schumer, warning years ago that he is an ethnic Jew but godless. He is affiliated with a “reform Judaism” temple whose rabbi, Rachel Timoner, is an ultra-woke lesbian, conducted the lesbian marriage of Schumer’s daughter, and other Schumer life-cycle events. As reported by investigative journalist Daniel Greenfield: “Rachel Timoner is an activist with such anti-Israel groups as J Street and T’ruah and she co-founded the New York Jewish Agenda leftist organization alongside Sharon Kleinbaum who faced an exodus from her ‘temple’ after saying Kaddish for Hamas terrorists with a mission of fighting the city’s Orthodox Jews.” Schumer manipulates the accident of his Jewish birth for political value. Lepore: NYC squatters use Shake Shack receipt as PROOF they should get legal protections for taking over family’s $950k home

A pair of squatters trying to game New York’s ‘insane’ housing laws are attempting to beat the homeowners in court by using a $25 receipt from Shake Shack to prove they should be protected under state rules. Denis Kurlyand and Juliya Fulmanof, a married couple who invested $530,000 in a property in Jamaica, Queens, several years ago are now forced to go to court with the brazen would-be tenants, as first reported by DailyMail.com. On March 5, a broker they were working with visited the property for a site check before allowing tenants to move in and found the locks had been changed. Inside the property was Lance Hunt Jr. and Rondie L. Francis, who had set up mattresses, a flat screen TV and a massage table. The men claimed to have legally leased the property months earlier and refused to leave.

The homeowners are locked in a legal battle with the pair after the alleged squatters hired an attorney to sue them and are making a shock attempt to use the burger chain receipts to prove they’ve lived there for the past 30 days.

Calling someone “fat” may be a “hate crime” under Scotland’s dystopian new law that went into effect this week, which also criminalizes using accurate pronouns to refer to transgender-identifying people. On Monday, J.K. Rowling, the famed author of the Harry Potter series, dared authorities to arrest her under the new law with a series of posts correctly identifying as men even those who claim to be women. “In passing the Scottish Hate Crime Act, Scottish lawmakers seem to have placed higher value on the feelings of men performing their idea of femaleness, however misogynistically or opportunistically, than on the rights and freedoms of actual women and girls,” Rowling wrote on X. “The new legislation is wide open to abuse by activists who wish to silence those of us speaking out about the dangers of eliminating women’s and girls’ single-sex spaces.”
