Daily News Roundup

Jim Nelles contributor to American Greatness: I will not mask. I will not take the jab. We cannot have a repeat of 2020 and 2021 where we all readily gave up our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms and empowered the government. I will not comply.

Cliff Nichols contributor to American Thinker: Remember that tyrants, by definition, are enabled through their position and power to decide for themselves how and when any laws they may need to preserve their power are to be enacted, interpreted, and enforced.  Thus, even when it may seem possible that some forms of resistance to their tyranny are “peaceful,” if those peaceful actions are considered to hold even a remote promise of success in deposing their tyranny, they will most certainly be quickly construed in some way by the regime in power to be … “unlawful.”

Steve McCann contributor to American Thinker: Recently a passionately committed Donald Trump supporter asked me who I would back in 2024 and why are so many pundits claiming that Trump cannot win the general election. In my reply I wrote that while I like both DeSantis and Trump, I will enthusiastically support whoever wins the nomination. My answer to the second part of the question is yes, Trump can win. But he needs to recognize reality and have the strategy in place for an exceedingly difficult election due to the unknown repercussions of the despicable lawfare being waged against him as well as the political and electoral landscape in present-day America. Thus far there has been no indication that the Trump campaign or the Republican National Committee understands or has developed any strategy to win the general election.

Steven Hayward contributor to Powerline.com: In conversation over the weekend with a set of smart folks, someone raised the sensible question: why is no one in the Republican presidential field (except Trump very briefly recently) attacking a government that is forcing us to buy electric cars we don’t want, toilets that have to be flushed twice (to save water!), dishwashers and laundry equipment that don’t clean dishes or clothes very well, expensive light bulbs that are less congenial to the eye than incandescents and don’t last as long as promised, etc, etc.? William F. Buckley Jr. joked years ago that liberalism is the impulse to reach in and turn down your shower, but now this is uniform government policy.

T.J. Harker contributor to The American Mind: If the government of the United States of America can sue an American company because it “hired only U.S. Citizens and lawful permanent residents”; can sidestep the jury system, that last vestige of representative government in which American citizens can still participate; can publicly encourage aliens of dubious legal status to snitch on the so-called wrongdoing of Americans and American companies; and can then rely on its propaganda mouthpieces in the mainstream media to pretend none of this is happening, then the country is in bad shape indeed.

Jeremt Carl contributor to The American Mind: . . . “Uncle Joe” nostalgia has a rapidly-approaching expiration date for the Democrats. His exit from the scene will likely hasten the rise of a more explicitly left-wing Democratic Party, dominated by minority politicians and often pushing explicitly anti-white interests. In this way, Biden is also an appropriate symbol for the Left—a geriatric, enfeebled white man serving as a figurehead for minority power. Going forward, the Left’s public face will increasingly match its public policies. At long last, the party’s demography finally will herald its destiny.

Bruce Thornton contributor to Frontpage Magazine: Weaponizing children makes sense. Particularly in the modern West, children freed from the hard realities of existence more typical of history and the non-Western world, develop outlandish expectations, making them vulnerable to proselytizing activists. Most children and adolescents are by nature narcissists and drama queens who think histrionic emotion is more important than facts, coherent arguments, and reality’s limits to gratifying their utopian obsessions. That’s why they need good parents help them mature and put away childish things. The “woke” war on the family in pursuit of radical changes in sex identities and biological fact is a harbinger of disasters to come.

Surber Substack: A man has a right to wear a dress, but he does not have the right to force the rest of us to accept him as a woman.

VDH: The Biden Clan’s Con is Coming to an End

Despite years of Biden family and media disinformation, we are finally learning that President Joe Biden really did fire Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin for looking into state corruption involving the oil company Burisma and Hunter Biden — and ultimately Joe Biden himself. As vice president, Biden, in his own words, bragged that he had threatened to cancel the deliverance of American foreign aid to Ukraine unless Shokin was dismissed. So what is Congress to do now — un-impeach and exonerate an innocent impeached Donald Trump, and instead impeach a guilty Biden for essentially the same allegations? After all, the Left redefined the impeachment bar in 2019 as leveraging foreign aid to Ukraine to benefit one’s political career. And that is exactly what Joe Biden did to ensure his son could continue to raise millions for the Biden family with foreign governments, while being shielded from political consequences.

Arama: Can We Talk About the Real Election Interference Playing out Before Our Eyes?

So their next option is to impair him so much with legal action that he can’t campaign as he normally would. That’s going on now. As we reported on Monday, the date set by Judge Tanya Chutkan in the election case brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith is March 4, and some, like attorney Leslie McAdoo Gordon, called the date set absurd given the defense needs in the case. Fair trial? What’s that? It seems a quaint thing at this point, with everything we’re seeing. There’s also something interesting about that date, as Fox’s Laura Ingraham points out. It’s the same day that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis wanted to start the trial regarding the charges in Georgia. Why does there seem to be an interest in that day? That’s the day before Super Tuesday, perhaps one of the busiest days of the campaign season, where normally you might be hitting multiple states to talk to people. So Trump wouldn’t be able to campaign that day and probably less so in the lead-up because he’d have to get ready for the trial if the trial date is not changed.

Hopkins: Why Mike Pence Is No Hero

There was nothing illegal, immoral or unethical about the Eastman proposal. […] At the debate, in between taking unjustified bows for Trump successes, he answered questions about the activities of Jan. 6 by simply saying, “I followed the Constitution.” But of course, in this day of lazy journalism, this follow up question was never asked: “Sir, tell us, which section of the Constitution did you follow?”  The truth is that the constitutional role of the sitting VP regarding votes in a presidential election is anything but clear. The 12th amendment, passed in 1804, gives some but not mandatory guidance. It assigns the VP the duty to open and count the votes from the members of the Electoral College. What is not clear is the amount of discretion that the VP possesses to reject contested electors or delay the count. The Electoral Count Act of 1887 gives some guidance,  . . .

Harker: SpaceXpropriation

The government’s attack on Elon Musk is the latest regime experiment in repression. […] On the anniversary of the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden took to the teleprompter to celebrate the successes of his signature law and of “Bidenomics.” Bidenomics—a pejorative originally coined by the Wall Street Journal—has been repurposed by the regime to mean something like “any good economic news is because of us.” The crux of the prepared remarks was that the Act and Bidenomics are great for America and Americans: “Bidenomics is anchored in what’s always worked best for the country: investing in America, investing in Americans.”  At nearly the same moment that the president was touting his administration’s supposed success in creating jobs for Americans, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit to enjoin Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) from creating jobs for Americans.

[…] More sinister forces are at work. Any informed observer would recognize this move as a deliberate power play: the regime says one thing to deceive its low-information voters while doing another to destroy its opponents. Here, since Elon Musk is a regime opponent, it is irrelevant that SpaceX’s hiring practices are consistent with the president’s supposed economic goals. Musk must be stopped (or at least deterred), even if it means Americans will lose their jobs. In this respect, the suit is a lame attempt to sideline Musk prior to election season. Second, the suit also reveals what the regime (and the ruling class that supports it) think about America and ordinary Americans. They don’t like or care about them.

Sindelar: The Feds Just Messed With Texas Over Buoys — And Sided With Cartel-Driven Mexico

The buoy barrier was placed in the Rio Grande outside Eagle Pass, Texas, after years of federal refusal to control the human-trafficking crisis. As that crisis metastasized with the cartel takeover of the Mexican state, the positive obligation of Texas to defend its citizenry compelled it to act, and, with the barrier, it did so within its own constitutional powers. Though there is no question that Texas and Texans would prefer the federal government simply do its job, it is an expression of the genius of the founders that we have recourse to other levels of government when it will not. The reaction of that federal government is telling, in ways that late-Roman Britons would find sadly familiar. Instead of reacting to Texas’ self-defense in ways suggesting a sense of stewardship for American citizens and communities, and an understanding of its positive responsibilities for control of the border, it has instead gone on the attack — against Texas.

An expression of that attack was on display this past Aug. 22 in a federal courtroom in Austin, Texas, as both sides set forth their cases in United States v. Abbott: the federal government’s lawsuit against the governor of Texas that seeks to compel him to — there is no other way to phrase it — stop defending Texas.

Tweten: EPA Denies Aid To Two-Thirds Of Victims Of A Massive Mine Spill It Caused

The EPA was working on improving the water quality of the Animas River next to the Gold King Mine in 2015 when agency employees accidentally pierced part of the mine’s wall, releasing three million gallons of contaminated water into the river, according to an investigation by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. The agency recently rejected two-thirds of the nearly 100 claims filed, giving a maximum of $2,500 to the approved claims, CBS News reported. “While the EPA regrets the loss, the claim does not meet the standards for coverage under the Federal Tort Claims Act,” the EPA wrote in a letter to one of the individuals who submitted a claim, The Durango Herald, a local outlet, reported. “Accordingly, the claim is denied.”

Dumas: Biden admin’s latest home appliance crackdown: ceiling fans

Ceiling fans are now the latest target in the Biden administration‘s green agenda, sparking pushback from Republicans and manufacturers. The Department of Energy is proposing a rule that would require ceiling fans to be more energy efficient, arguing the move would save U.S. households on energy costs.

[…] The Energy Department has been on the warpath to impose more stringent regulations on household appliances for the past several months, proposing new standards for gas stoves, ovens, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, dishwashers and other essentials as part of its mission to advance energy efficiency and conservation.

No Tricks Zone publishes a summary of an article by Dr. Klaus-Dieter Döhler, a natural scientist and environmentalist, and Josef Kowatsch, a nature conservationist, that criticizes the global warming industry in Germany. Their criticisms apply equally to that industry in the U.S. The authors point out that reality has refuted the tricked-up models that are the only basis for global warming hysteria: They write: The business model “global warming” is mainly corrupt and is run by paid scientists and organizations and is headed by a super rich group of billionaires. Their aim is not to protect the climate, but to generate funds for themselves and their dubious machinations. Their goal is to introduce a CO2-emission tax, like the sin-emission model in the Middle Ages, in which all the states, the politicians and corrupt scientific institutions make money.

Eastman: Three Studies Show “Environmentally Safer” Solutions Don’t Live Up to Hype

I have reported on a wide array of stories in which eco-activists’ solutions did not live up to the hype and usually had unintended consequences that impacted the quality of life for humanity. Three new studies confirm that we should be especially wary of “environmentally safer” solutions that are based on an amalgam of pseudoscience and bureaucracy. Legal Insurrection readers will recall there was a mad rush to ban plastic drinking straws among leftist cities and progressive institutions, to save the oceans from plastic (despite the fact most of that material was coming from Asia and Africa). Washington, D.C., even hired aninspector to enforce the ban. A new study from Europe suggests those paper straws may contain “forever chemicals” that are harmful to both humans and the environment and were observed more often than in a sample of plastic straws. […] . . .another set of “experts” indicate those N95 masks are toxic, as they are capable of causing cancer and organ damage. …[A] study quietly re-shared by the National Institutes of Health in spring suggests the tight-fitting mask may expose users to dangerous levels of toxic chemicals.

Amalaraj: Moment furious commuters rip banners away from climate activists blocking roads in angry rush-hour clash, screaming: ‘We got kids to feed… I want to get to work’

The anti-fossil fuel group Declare Emergency sat in the middle of a highway on Saturday preventing any movement. That caused motorists to get out of the car and ripped banners from the protestors’ hands. ‘I want to work, I want to go to work,’ one driver screamed. ‘You don’t give a f***, get the f*** out of here! We have to go to f***ing work,’ another woman was heard yelling at the protestors’ faces. ‘We got kids to feed, b—h.’ More protestors joined the drivers to chastise the drivers and throw their signs toward the side – a stark difference from other places in the world where those who object to protest can face criminal charges. DC police arrived to push back the angry motorists and give the Declare Emergency protestors a warning to move. The activists quickly stood up, at which point police arrested them all.

Purnell: 15 Questions A Biden Impeachment Inquiry Must Ask Because Corporate Media Won’t

Discussions on the Hill about launching an impeachment inquiry are ramping up, both publicly and behind closed doors. And as the shameless Democrat fixers in our national media and federal law enforcement shut their eyes to piles of evidence of President Joe Biden’s corruption — or actively try to make it go away — it’s increasingly apparent an impeachment inquiry is the only way for the American people to get real answers. There are a plethora of angles to the scandal, from the Justice Department’s alleged interference stalling investigations into the Bidens to the FBI’s attempts to hide evidence from Congress. But at the center is an influence-peddling scheme in which Hunter Biden sold access to his father, enriching the Biden family in return for what appear to be foreign bribes. In one such apparent instance, Hunter Biden was hired to the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, for the special treatment that the Biden family “brand” could provide. When Burisma was under investigation by Ukraine’s top prosecutor, Joe Biden leveraged U.S. aid to Ukraine to get the prosecutor fired — something he shamelessly brags about doing. Here are 15 questions lawmakers need to get curious about fast. 1. What did the Biden family do to earn millions from foreign oligarchs, if not trade political favors? It would be really easy for Joe Biden to make this whole apparent bribery scandal go away, if he could just tell us what product or expertise his family offered to earn millions from foreign entities. He can’t, of course, because unlike in the case of his presidential predecessor, there is no legitimate Biden family “business” like real estate or venture capitalism or cobbling shoes. With the exception of the four years Trump was in office, Joe Biden has been in political office since he ran for county council in 1970. He’s got influence, lots of it — and now he’s got money, lots of it. 2. How long have the Bidens been personally profiting from Joe’s public “service”?

Cleveland: Oversight Committee Seeks Flight Logs For Every Time Hunter Biden Used Air Force Two To Further The Family Business

The request suggests Joe Biden allowed his son to join trips to facilitate Hunter’s recruitment of foreign investments in the Biden brand. Early Wednesday, the chair of the House Oversight Committee dispatched a follow-up letter to the national archivist requesting travel records and related documents from Joe Biden’s time as vice president. The documents request suggests that while vice president, Joe Biden allowed his son to accompany him on international trips to facilitate Hunter Biden’s recruitment of foreign investments in the Biden brand — adding more evidence to the already overwhelming mountain of material implicating the Biden family in a pay-to-play scandal.

Ballasy: House scores win in probe into whether military sniper blocked from killing Afghan airport bomber

The House Foreign Affairs Committee has scored a long-awaited interview in its investigation into whether a military sniper was denied permission two years ago to shoot the terrorist who detonated a bomb at the Kabul airport, killing 13 U.S. troops and 170 others in a tragic end to the bungled U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Lawmakers will question the commanding officer at the time, Marine Lt. Col. Brad Whited, on Sept. 11, the 22nd anniversary of America’s most deadly terrorist attack, Rep. Michael McCaul, (R-Texas) chairman of the committee, told Just the News on Tuesday. He made the comments after the committee met with Gold Star families of the service members killed in the 2021 attack.

Richardson: ‘Hostile Takeover’: State Supreme Court Chief Justice Accuses Liberal Majority Of Staging A ‘Coup’

Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Annette Ziegler accused the court’s liberal majority of staging a “coup,” according to emails obtained by The Associated Press. After gaining a majority August 1 for the first time in 15 years, liberal justices quickly moved to fire state court director Randy Koschnick, drawing immediate backlash, and create a committee responsible for many of the tasks that the chief justice has typically handled, the AP reported. Ziegler wrote in two emails obtained by the AP that the majority’s actions were illegal and amounted to “nothing short of an unprecedented coup.” “You are making a mess of the judiciary, the court and the institution for years to come,” Ziegler wrote to the other justices and the new interim director of state courts, Judge Audrey Skwierawski, per AP. “This must stop. … I have no confidence in the recent hostile takeover and the chaotic effect it has had on the court, staff, and the overall stable functioning of the courts.”

Revolver.news: Trump and Obama-appointed judges uphold First Amendment, sending brutal message to woke left…

Every so often, our legal system surprises us and manages to prioritize justice and the law over politics and activism, a welcome break from what we’ve come to expect, right? That’s precisely what unfolded in a recent First Amendment case in Washington, D.C. The case involved a pro-life group that wanted to chalk a pro-life message on a sidewalk. They were denied this right even though BLM supporters had been allowed to use spray paint to leave their mark on public property. Fortunately, the case found its way to the D.C. Court of Appeals, and the pro-life group emerged victorious. All thanks to judges committed to genuine justice. Quite refreshing, isn’t it? Here what legal eagle Mike David had to say about the surprise ruling in a tweet: . . .

Jarrett: Governors urge Congress to address prescription drug shortages

Eleven governors are asking Congress to adopt policies to ease the nation’s prescription drug shortages. The governors said in a letter sent Tuesday to Congressional leaders that 80% of active ingredients in prescription drugs are made outside of the U.S., mainly in India and China. But little is done to change that, they said. “States are taking what limited action we can to combat prescription drug shortages,” the governors said. “Individual states have expanded our medical caches to increase the diversity of prescription drugs that are stockpiled in case of emergency shortages. To create real change, the states need Washington to take action.” The governors are asking Congress to consider policies that would “increase diversity in the manufacturing of generic medications with regards to both raw materials and final manufacturing,” require the FDA to be more transparent about shortages and supply disruptions and reexamine expiration date guidance to extend medicines shelf lives.

Burrow: Biden Admin Looking To Prevent Next President From Scaling Back Taxpayers’ Funding Of Ukraine

The Biden administration is seeking to hammer out a long-term Ukraine aid agreement with European allies in hopes of both preventing Russia from gaining an edge on the battlefield and hamstringing a future president’s ability to scale back U.S. commitments, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

The scheme emerged during sideline talks among Group of Seven leaders at a NATO summit in July, and so far involves negotiations between the U.S. and Ukraine, and between the United Kingdom (U.K.) and Ukraine, according to the WSJ. […] European capitals want to cement support and restrict ways countries could renege on pledges, fearing what might happen during a second Trump administration, according to the WSJ. At present, Western European nations lack the industrial and financial capacity to match the billions in annual military aid provided by the U.S.

Fleetwood: Biden Admin’s Voter Drive For Newly Naturalized Citizens Is Just Another Act Of Federal Election Interference

The Biden administration announced on Friday its plans to use U.S. taxpayer dollars to register newly naturalized citizens to vote, marking the latest attempt to use federal bureaucracies to interfere in American elections. In its Friday memo, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), an agency within the Department of Homeland Security, announced it had updated its Policy Manual to include provisions directing agency employees to “increase awareness and expand access to voter registration during naturalization ceremonies,” in which eligible immigrants officially become U.S. citizens. The guidelines specifically direct USCIS to provide newly ordained citizens “access to voter registration services” at these ceremonies and additional information “regarding points-of-contact for voting and voter registration.” Also included in the policy update are directives for USCIS employees to

Thornton: Are These Our Locust Years?

The “locust years” was how Winston Churchill described the Thirties, the decade that started with the Great Depression and ended with Germany’s invasion of Poland that sparked the most destructive war in history. Could we be reprising the follies, delusions, and hubris of those years? […] The West today may seem to be light-years from the Thirties and its lethal dysfunctions, and the monstrous violence that decade bred. Even so, in many respects, our cultural decay, political corruption, and zany stupidities are willfully undermining not just our foundational political institutions, but science itself, not to mention common sense and traditional wisdom. These unprecedented, suicidal attacks on our civilization are breeding the swarms of locusts that may devour us. First, the threat of large-scale wars is growing, ignored or dismissed by too many of those responsible for defending our lives and interests. […] Now we are entangled in an expensive war––at least $115 billion and counting––that currently is stalemated, with no feasible way out through negotiation or even withdrawal, . . . […] Meanwhile, China has been busy too, . . . […] Our feckless foreign policies, then, are on a trajectory that could lead to a global conflict for which we are not preparing, or even taking seriously. But equally dangerous are culture-war fads that reject science, common sense, and reality itself. The fringe pseudo-scientific belief that biological sex is not as determinative of a child or young person’s identity as are his subjective, transient feelings and neuroses, has generated policies destructive not just to the person subjected to puberty-blockers, hormone treatments, and grotesque, disfiguring surgeries, but to the integrity of the family as an institution critical to our success as a people. We’ve seen this assault on the family played out in . . .

Lynch: ‘I’m Concerned They Have A Leak’: Sensitive Biden Admin Docs Keep Ending Up In An Iranian Government-Backed Newspaper

Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, is concerned about what appears to be sensitive U.S. government documents ending up in the hands of Iranian regime friendly media. McCaul expressed alarm Monday after the Tehran Times, an Iranian outlet friendly to its regime, obtained what appeared to be an internal State Department memo showing U.S. Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley had his security clearance suspended. “If this memo is authentic, it is extremely concerning especially since this is not the first time the Iranian regime’s mouthpiece has appeared to have sensitive U.S. government information recently while Congress is kept in the dark,” McCaul said in a press release.

Smith: Gas rises 63 cents a gallon in 2023 as gloomy data casts doubt on rosy ‘Bidenomics’ tour

“The numbers are clear: Our economy remains strong,” President Joe Biden exclaimed earlier this month, citing Consumer Price Index (CPI) data that showed inflation having fallen to a 3-year low. Economists are pointing out that the CPI doesn’t necessarily tell the full story. “The CPI, once hailed as a reliable measure of inflation, now faces mounting criticism for the many ways in which it fails to adequately measure the costs that middle- and working-class households face,” wrote financial expert Eugene Ludwig and economist Philip Cornel in a MarketWatch op-ed last week. […] Biden’s claims of success may be undercut by important individual numbers, which paint a much more grim picture than just the CPI aggregate. Gas prices, for example, are up almost 20% this year alone at $3.823/gallon, and are 71% higher than three years ago, according to AAA archives.

Harper: Bidenomics: Food prices expected to rise through 2024

ecently released federal pricing analysis from the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects that food prices will continue to rise through 2024. The USDA pointed to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index released earlier this month, which showed consumer prices overall rose 3.2% in the previous twelve months. Food prices, though rose more quickly at 4.9% during the same time. Now, USDA says that increase will continue. “Food prices are expected to grow more slowly in 2023 than in 2022 but still at above historical-average rates,” USDA said in its analysis. “In 2023, all food prices are predicted to increase 5.9%, with a prediction interval of 5.3% to 6.5%. Food-at-home prices are predicted to increase 5.2%, with a prediction interval of 4.4% to 6.1%. Food-away-from-home prices are predicted to increase 7.1%, with a prediction interval of 6.8% to 7.5%.”

Greenfield: After Betraying September 11 Families, Biden to Skip 9/11 Memorials

Last week thousands of 9/11 families signed a letter asking Biden not to cut a deal with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed: the Al-Qaeda mastermind of the attacks and many others. Biden predictably didn’t give a damn. After all, he had already conspired to free most of the imprisoned Islamic terrorists from Gitmo. And he had managed to rob 9/11 families in court and transfer the money to the Taliban. No one was going to welcome him in New York or Pennsylvania. So Biden will become the first president to skip the official memorials. Not even Obama sank so low and that is really saying something.

Brown: Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s Latest Gift to Unions

The Biden administration’s use of federal agencies and the administrative state to pursue Democrats’ political goals has been a trademark of the last two-plus years of crises and chaos that began in January 2021. Now, it’s the Treasury Department and Secretary Janet Yellen who are diving headfirst in an attempt to bolster labor unions, often considered an unofficial wing of the Democratic Party. On a call with Vice President Kamala Harris, Secretary Yellen announced that the Treasury Department had concluded a report — created at taxpayer expense, mind you — making “the case that unions can play a role in addressing the challenges faced by the middle class.” According to Yellen, the report “is the Administration’s latest action to strengthen the important role of labor unions in our economy and it is the Treasury Department’s first major effort to lay out the rationale for why we think this is so important.”

Hawkins: Tucker Carlson: Biden Committed ‘Biggest Act of Industrial Sabotage in History’

Tucker Carlson has called out the hypocrisy of the green agenda being pushed by Democrat President Joe Biden and his administration. Speaking during an interview with Hungarian leader Balázs Orbán in Budapest, Carlson warned that the Biden admin does not actually care about the environment.

According to Carlson, this was proved because the same “global warming cultists” were behind the “biggest act of industrial sabotage in history” by blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline.

Ross: Associated Press Coverage of Courts, Climate Bankrolled by Dozens of Left-Wing Foundations

The Associated Press, the country’s top wire service, is now bankrolled in part by millions of dollars from left-wing foundations, including one founded by “1619 Project” author Nikole Hannah-Jones. The news organization last year announced a series of “partnerships” to subsidize reporters covering climate change, race, and democracy. A review of the donor roster shows that the vast majority fund left-wing political causes, while none are supporters of conservative initiatives. The Ida B. Wells Society, founded by “1619 Project” lightning rod Hannah-Jones, has teamed up with filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s Hearthland Foundation, for example, to foster “more inclusive storytelling” at the Associated Press.

Boyd: Viktor Shokin Interview Shows No Amount Of Biden Corruption Evidence Will Make Corporate Media Tell The Truth

The corporate media’s reaction, or lack thereof, to ex-Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin’s Fox News interview this weekend is the latest proof that no amount of Biden corruption evidence or corroboration will deter the propaganda press from protecting their preferred political candidate.

Shokin, the man tasked with investigating Ukrainian energy company Burisma, admitted that he believes then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son, who was paid tens of thousands of dollars every month to sit on the company’s board, were bribed in exchange for his firing. “Do you believe that Joe Biden or Hunter Biden got bribes?” asked “One Nation” host Brian Kilmeade. “I do not want to deal in unproven facts, but my personal conviction is that yes, this was the case,” Shokin said, through a translator. “They were being bribed. The fact that Joe Biden gave away $1 billion in U.S. money in exchange for my dismissal, my firing, isn’t that alone a case of corruption?”

Cathell: The Media Is About to Bury This School Shooting Story

News broke Monday afternoon of another school shooting. But in the coming days, as details emerge, expect the establishment media to forget about this progressively peculiar case. Already we’ve found that the alleged killer is a Wuhan-educated doctoral student accused of murdering a faculty member, his mentor, inside a campus lab.  Here’s what we know, so far: . . . […] According to Qi’s still-active LinkedIn profile, where he listed his “he/him” pronouns, the second-year Ph.D. student and researcher previously studied at China’s Ministry of Education-sponsored Wuhan University. There, the 34-year-old alumnus earned a bachelor’s degree in physics with a minor in business management/administration from Wuhan University, which was confirmed by a student biography published on a website run by UNC-Chapel Hill. (Qi’s bio has since been scrubbed from the UNC directory.) The U.S. public research university is known to have collaborated with the CCP-run Wuhan Virology Institute, where gain-of-function (GoF) research was funded by COVID-19 czar Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Van Laar: What Happened to the Child in Video Openly Questioning His ‘Transition’ and Crying During the Surgery?

Over the weekend we covered the heartbreaking story of a child whose medical “transition” was captured on video. One clip that was posted to X/Twitter, which is from a 2012 NBC News story, shows an 11-year-old child who was a biological boy preparing to have hormone blockers implanted. In one clip the child, whose name had been legally changed from Joseph to Josie, asks his mother, “Sometimes I think I’m a boy kinda.. Will you love me if I’m a boy?” In another, filmed at the doctor’s office, shows Josie crying and clearly uncomfortable as the hormone blockers are implanted. […] There are quite a few disturbing incidents (from a psychological and parenting perspective) portrayed in the video that bolster the argument that children seeking hormone therapy and puberty blockers aren’t capable of giving informed consent – something rational adults already understand. I’ll list a few here, and I’d challenge those who think that even teenagers are capable of making such decisions to watch the video and honestly say that Josie was making an informed, non-manipulated choice. The video (from 7:17-8:36) shows that even before age 9 Josie believed that she was starting puberty and was anxious about this – so anxious that, according to Vanessa, Josie nearly performed “surgery” on herself.

Curry: Want to fix America? Bring down the Department of Education

American education has been captured by the left — and deliberately ruined.  In their thoughtful article “Education: How to Destroy and Reconquer,” Arthur Milikh and Scott Yenor describe what the Left has accomplished: In America’s public schools, children are often taught to despise themselves and their country. Our history is distorted. Our constitutional traditions trashed … our literature and heritage are ignored or rendered ugly … students are encouraged to transition genders, and … are taught whites are inherently evil and racist. … While the Left obtains vast funding for woke education, the Right begs for “opt-outs” from sex education programs and seeks to ban pornographic books from school libraries. Milikh and Yenor make a convincing case that because of the left’s total institutional conquest, attempts to reform education will fail.  Nothing less than “destruction followed by reconquest” can possibly restore American education.  Read it for yourself, and you will be convinced they are correct about that.

Morse: Watch: School Attempts to Kick Out Kid for Sporting a Gadsden Flag Patch and His Mom Isn’t Having It

Twelve-year-old Jaiden, who attends The Vanguard School in Colorado Springs, found himself in trouble with his teachers after he wore a backpack that featured a patch of the Gadsden flag. He was kicked out of class and his mother was called into the office to discuss the wrong Jaiden had done. According to one of the school staff, the famous flag wasn’t allowed in the school due to its “origins in slavery and the slave trade.” A revelation that clearly amused Jaiden who clearly knows more about his nation’s history than his own school. The flag was one that was popularly displayed during the Revolutionary War as a symbol of the people’s resistance toward the tyranny under the British monarchy which had used and abused the American people, sparking the war that gave birth to what would eventually become the United States. In a video obtained by Tuttle Twins author Connor Boyack, school staff can be seen explaining to the parent that the flag has racist connotations. However, the mother doesn’t let this falsehood slide and she immediately begins correcting the staff member, telling her of the Gadsden Flag’s origin and meaning. […] As Boyack notes, the story doesn’t end there. Director of Operations of the Vanguard School, Jeff Yocum, attempted to further justify the school’s policy on the Gadsden Flag by mentioning the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission which said the flag “originated in the Revolutionary War in a non-racial context” but added, “whatever the historic origins and meaning of the symbol, it has been sometimes interpreted to convey racially-tinged messages.” […] Jaiden attempted to take his story to the local press but they declined to interview him. [Note: 12-Year-old Colorado kid kicked out of class for wearing Gadsden patch now has TWO law firms that want to represent him… UPDATE: Jaiden wins big… https://revolver.news/2023/08/12-year-old-kid-kicked-out-of-class-for-wearing-gadsden-patch-has-two-law-firms-offering-representation/ ]

Lindquist: WATCH: Drag Queens, Trans Activists Coach Government Employees On ‘Trans Liberation’ At Taxpayer-Funded Event

The nearly 2-hour long presentation, titled “Drag Story Hour and Fireside Chat,” featured several activists from Drag Story Hour, which hosts events where men in drag read to children at libraries and schools, as well as the Trans Formations Project, an activist group that fights what it calls “anti-trans” legislation, including bills that defend children from irreversible medical interventions that seek to change their sex. Drag Story Hour was paid $5,000 to participate in the event, which was part of the Washington State Office of Financial Management’s “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Empowerment Conference,” according to a contract obtained by The Daily Wire. The talk focused on political activism, community organizing, and the role that “allies” should play in the “fight for trans liberation,” according to exclusive video of the presentation. Ace Sutherland, a New York City-based board member for Trans Formations Project, told the government employees that it wanted to “direct” the government on how to help in the fight.

Neff: Trial Date Set In Lake’s Public Records Claim Against Richer And Maricopa County

Judge John Hannah of the Maricopa County Superior Court issued an order last week setting a two-day trial starting Sept. 21 on Lake’s claims that the county defendants violated state law by denying inspection of the 2022 General Election ballot affidavit envelopes. The second day of the trial will occur Sept. 25, according to Hannah. In the meantime, the parties are awaiting Hannah’s ruling on whether Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes can intervene in the case on behalf of Secretary of State Adrian Fontes. “Our lawsuit against Maricopa County seeking to review envelope signatures is moving to trial in September. Judge Hannah has declared that the envelopes are not part of the “voter record,” which destroys the county’s motion to dismiss & their entire defense case,” Lake told the Arizona Daily Independent. “This is a huge victory for election transparency. We’re moving forward. The public records case is not the only legal action involving Lake and Richer that is being closely watched.

Wilson: Oregon Voters Want To Repeal Drug Decriminalization, Poll Finds

Oregon in 2020 passed by referendum a ballot measure, Measure 110, that downgraded the penalty for the use of hard drugs, such as heroin and methamphetamine, to a small fine. The law has resulted in increased public use of hard drugs in Oregon. Fentanyl-related fatalities are up 210 percent since 2020, according to state authorities. Now residents wish to undo the measure, according to a poll this month from Emerson College.

Greenfield: Mayor Adams to Honor 9/11 Anniversary by Unleashing Mosque Loudspeakers Across NYC

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner Edward A. Caban today launched a new NYPD initiative to support and facilitate the Islamic call to public prayer at regularly prescribed times each Friday and during the holy month of Ramadan. The effort represents a historic step forward in Mayor Adams’ continued efforts to foster a city that respects all faiths and allows people to practice their traditions safely and free from harassment. […] Here’s the kind of theocratic nightmare we are headed for. Every night at 3:00 am, Rina is jolted awake by blaring speakers so loud she has developed an anxiety disorder: she can’t sleep, she’s too nauseous to eat — but she is also too scared to complain because doing so could see her jailed or attacked. The noisy neighbour is the local mosque in her Jakarta suburb, and the clamorous sound is the call to prayer. Both are so sacred in Indonesia, the world’s biggest Muslim majority nation, that criticizing them can lead to accusations of blasphemy, a crime punishable by as much as five years imprisonment. “None dares to complain about it here,” says Rina, a 31-year-old Muslim woman who is using a pseudonym in case of reprisals. “The loudspeakers are not only used for call to prayer but they also use it to wake people up 30-40 minutes before the morning prayer time,” she tells AFP, adding that she is at breaking point after enduring the noise for six months. Yesterday Indonesia. Today, America. Who won the War on Terror again?

Morse: Disney Finds Out: Stock Down Almost $200 Billion as America Rejects Woke Perversion of Walt’s Legacy

As previously covered by Newsmax, Disney’s stock price now sits at a 9-year low of $83.53 with its market cap having fallen a whopping 56 percent since March 22, 2022. That means it fell from $350.09 billion on that date to $196.05. This isn’t a good look to investors, but that’s just an element of Disney’s problem. A bad stock price is just the symptom of a disease that Disney has no desire to shake. As I last reported, Disney CEO Bob Iger said during a Q3 report that his company would begin toning down both the cost of its creations and the pace at which they’re released, but this misses the point. While both of these things are definitely something harming Disney’s bottom line, it’s not the key issue: The real issue on Disney’s hands at this time is that it’s burned too many bridges with its would-be audience. It’s politicized itself so heavily that half the country despises the company, and on top of that, few people want to show up to a Disney flick to get preached at or bear witness to another boring CGI-fest whose stories were written by activists and not storytellers.

Greenfield: First Australian Woman PM Doesn’t Know What a Woman Is

Former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard leveraged accusations of sexism to climb the political ladder, now she’s forgotten what a woman is. During her infamous speech on misogyny, she whined that, “the Leader of the Opposition, who is now looking at his watch because, apparently, a woman has spoken for too long”. Now Gillard has forgotten what a woman is.

Trewhela: Slavery: The Ostentatious Hypocrisy of BRICS towards Black Africans

  • In a garish example of anti-democratic, anti-West, collective state hypocrisy, leaders from the BRICS bloc — representing Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa — meeting in South Africa over three days last week invited four Muslim states and two others to join the bloc, while keeping total silence over the racist and Islamist massacre by heavily armed Arab militias of black African civilians being carried out in West Darfur in Sudan over the preceding weeks.
  • “[A]trocities pile up in Darfur after 100 days of Sudan fighting”, in which “Arab militias are accused of killing lawyers, human rights monitors, doctors and non-Arab tribal leaders”. — Al Jazeera, July 24, 2023.
  • ” [The city of Al-Geneina in West Darfur] has been ethnically cleansed.” — Humanitarian worker, Sky News, broadcasting scenes of thousands of desperate Sudanese refugees displaced in neighbouring Chad, August 17, 2023.
  • The Africa Defense Forum disclosed on May 16 that Russia’s Wagner group was supervising gold-mining in Darfur, and smuggling nearly $2 billion in gold out of the country.
