A coalition of Republican doctors in the House on Tuesday sent a letter to Dr. Anthony Fauci, asking him to address concerns about COVID-19 and the border crisis. Their concern about the public health pandemic grew after touring the border for themselves. According to the coalition, Dr. Fauci is in a position to make the public health emergency known. “In your role as Chief Medical Advisor to the President, we feel it is imperative that you use your position to publicly express your concerns over the national health emergencies created by this surge in illegal immigration,” the letter, first obtained by the Daily Caller, reads. “The enormous number of migrants coming into this country who are COVID-19 positive cannot help stop this pandemic from a health perspective.

Rosiak: Grand Jury Indicts School Board Members For Alleged Secret Discussions About Racial Agenda
Two Texas school board members were indicted on charges that they violated the Open Meetings Act as they discussed a racial agenda that was widely opposed by their constituents. Carroll Independent School District (CISD) president Michelle Moore and vice president Todd Carlton were indicted by a grand jury for texts involving the school district’s “Cultural Competence Action Plan,” The Texan reported. The board is required to meet in public, but the texts allegedly involved enough school board members that it may have amounted to a secret, unofficial meeting under the law. […] The cultural competence plan called for hiring “a Director of Equity and Inclusion” and “embed[ding] diversity and inclusion training for students as an ‘enrollment to graduation’ process in all grades.” […] But in Carroll, parents fought back before the ideology could gain a footing.

The Biden administration awarded a lucrative defense contract to a Singaporean company that works with Chinese military firms. On April 6, Singapore-based ST Engineering won a contract alongside defense contractor BAE Systems to build a prototype military ground vehicle for use in Arctic environments. One of ST Engineering’s direct subsidiaries does business with the Chinese military industry, ultimately providing maritime and satellite technology to Chinese authorities. The use of a defense company that collaborates with China raises concerns about industrial espionage and could expose vulnerabilities in the Pentagon, one expert on military acquisition said. Mark Vandroff, a former Navy officer and member of the Trump administration’s National Security Council, told the Washington Free Beacon the contract could pose an “attractive” way for Beijing to gain inside knowledge on valuable national security technology.

The lawyers will act like “SWAT teams” for legal action, he said. Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a Yale School of Management professor who is working to help mobilize corporate America against the restrictions, described the legal coalition as an “army of election law experts ready to dispatch at a moment’s notice.”

Today, the same CEOs who long ago disabused themselves of dirty things like patriotism now insist that they know what’s best for the country they left behind. “Top CEOs plan to get dramatically tougher on state legislators over proposed new restrictions on voting,” Axios reported on Monday. After a weekend Zoom summit, these CEOs are “threatening to withhold campaign contributions—and to punish states by yanking investments in factories, stadiums and other lucrative projects.” The call featured a constellation of leading industry managers, including James Murdoch, Ken Chenault, Ken Frazier, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, Levi Strauss CEO Chip Bergh, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, and executives of Delta, United, and American Airlines. The debate over whether the laws in question are racist or excessively restrictive is ultimately a waste of time because this has less to do with policy than it does with power.

California public schools are embarking on a new experiment: education as social justice. Earlier this year, the state Department of Education approved an ethnic studies model curriculum, and individual school districts have begun to implement programs that advocate “decolonizing” the United States and “liberating” students from capitalism, patriarchy, and settler colonialism. This will likely come as a surprise to most California residents, who may be familiar with the movement’s euphemisms—“ethnic studies,” “educational equity,” “culturally responsive teaching”—but do not understand the philosophical and political premises of these programs. As the state and many school districts begin to implement the state ethnic studies curriculum, however, details are emerging. I have obtained documents from one such program, the Santa Clara County Office of Education’s Ethnic Studies Initiative, that paint a disturbing picture of the ethnic studies curriculum and the activists leading the charge. According to the documents and to sources within the district, the Office of Education held a series of teacher-training sessions on how to deploy ethnic studies in the classroom. The leaders, including district staff, an advisor for the state Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum, and a professor from San Jose State University, encouraged teachers to inject left-wing politics into the classroom and to hide controversial materials from parents.
