On Tuesday afternoon, the New York Times published a thin piece that made the stunning assertion that, during the Trump administration, the Justice Department opened an inquiry into a claim that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R.FL) had a sexual relationship with an underage girl. Gaetz responded by denying the allegation and then making his own, even more shocking assertion: Gaetz says that a former Justice Department official tried to extort money from his family, that the local FBI was investigating the claim, and that this Times report is an attempt by the Deep State to protect that official. […] The article opens by carefully identifying Gaetz as “a close ally of former President Donald J. Trump,” and then says he is being investigated for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-girl (Florida’s age of consent is 18) and paying for her to travel with him. If the allegations are true, that’s not only statutory rape, but it’s also sex trafficking because Gaetz paid for her to cross state lines. […] After acknowledging that Gaetz completely denies the accusations, the rest of the article simply smears Gaetz by describing his conservative bona fides . . . […] The Times updated the article to include Gaetz’s rebuttal to the charges and that rebuttal is a doozy: In addition to saying the allegations are completely unfounded, Gaetz claims that a former Justice Department employee was trying to extort money from him and his family, that he and his Dad were working with the local FBI, and that the malfeasor’s friends in the Justice Department leaked the attack on Gaetz to protect their friend:

Coy: The Supreme Court: Cowards, Crooks, or Compromised?
They appear to be cowards or crooks or compromised. Cowards, crooks, or compromised seems to be the only way to explain the decision-making of the United States Supreme Court. The Court’s unwillingness to make any decisions regarding the presidential election of 2020 is a historic failure. These last twelve months have seen the Court refuse to do its duty. The Court refused to be a co-equal branch of the federal government. With the Bush v. Gore of 2000, there is legal precedent. Just twenty short years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court took Bush v. Gore, a presidential election case, so the precedent was there. Over this last year, the Supreme Court had the opportunity to address election law questions before the election last summer, right before the election, right after the election, and even prior to the inauguration in January. On all these occasions, the majority of the Supreme Court judges refused to hear any case dealing with the presidential election. They stuck their heads in the sand and acted as if they had no role. One could argue, successfully, that January 6 on the Washington Mall happened because of the lack of integrity and guts in the Supreme Court. […] . . . something must explain why at least six justices on the Supreme Court refused to even hear the plethora of evidence. Only four justices are needed for a case to come before them, and a question about presidential election laws was not important enough for the Court to hear it? Very doubtful. Just does not pass the constitutional smell test. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch wanted to hear the cases . . .

Exclusive–Kobach: A Tale of Two States: New York Legislators Propose Vaccine Mandates While Arizona Legislators Push Back
Right on cue, New York State Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal introduced a bill last week to require residents of the Empire State to get COVID-19 vaccines if certain health officials declare that immunity levels are not high enough. The legislation states: “If public health officials determine that residents of the state are not developing sufficient immunity from COVID-19, the department shall mandate vaccination for all individuals or groups of individuals who, as shown by clinical data, are proven to be safe to receive such vaccine….” Meanwhile, in Arizona, legislators are at work protecting their residents against vaccine mandates—both government mandates and private ones. State Representative Bret Roberts and State Senator Kelly Townsend are introducing legislation that will be voted on in committee Wednesday to prevent a vaccine passport regime in Arizona. Based on a model bill drafted by the Alliance for Free Citizens, the legislation states that businesses may “not refuse to provide any service, product, admission to a venue, or transportation to a person because that person has or has not received” a vaccine.

Creitz: Dr. Scott Atlas blasts ‘despicable’ Birx and Fauci ‘trying to overtly rewrite history’ on coronavirus, Trump
Atlas told “The Ingraham Angle” that Birx’ and Fauci’s comments about Trump were “despicable,” and that the pair are trying to blame their critics for the socioeconomic and medical problems across the country, despite it being their policies that led to the crises. In a clip played by host Laura Ingraham, Fauci told CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta that he was “shocked” when Trump tweeted that Virginia and Michigan should be “liberated” from lockdown orders. Meanwhile, Birx told Gupta that she in turn was disheartened when, during an April 2020 meeting, Trump declared he would “never shut the country down again,” . . .
