The Center Square Staff: Texas Senate passes bill banning critical race theory from being taught in universities
The bill amends state education code by requiring public institutions of higher education to “be committed to creating an environment intellectual inquiry and academic freedom so that all students are equipped for participation in the workforce and the betterment of society; and intellectual diversity so that all students are respected and educated regardless of race, sex, or ethnicity or social, political, or religious background or belief,” according to the bill language. It also prohibits these institutions from compelling certain beliefs. At a committee hearing on the bill, prior to the committee advancing the bill, Hughes said, it would “establish in statute an express purpose statement for higher education that our institutions should be committed to creating environments where students are equipped for participation in the workforce and society while also respecting intellectual diversity, but not indoctrinating students. It will also prevent any faculty member from compelling or attempting to compel students to adopt a belief that any race, sex, ethnicity, or social, political, or religious belief is inherently superior to any other race, sex, ethnicity, or belief.” […] The bill passed along party lines with all Democrats voting against it.

The state of Texas is updating its bar application to include questions about whether applicants have engaged in “incivility and violations of school policies,” according to a letter from the Texas Supreme Court obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The change is a direct response to an incident at Stanford Law School last month in which students shouted down a federal judge. Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) wrote to the bar in March suggesting the change, arguing that Stanford Law School graduates should “be made to answer, in writing, whether they participated in the shameful harassment” of Fifth Circuit appellate judge Kyle Duncan, who was subjected to vulgar heckling when he attempted to deliver prepared remarks. The bar responded in early April, indicating that it planned to ask all applicants “directly” about their involvement in disruptive protests.
Clark: Security details of Joe Biden’s plans in Ireland found on a Belfast street
Documents containing sensitive details about President Biden’s overseas trip were found on the streets of Belfast on Wednesday, prompting an investigation by police officials in Northern Ireland. A passerby discovered the five-page document which detailed where Mr. Biden was staying in Northern Ireland and cell phone numbers for police officers in the president’s security detail. The person who made the rare find then called a BBC station to report it. The Police Service of Northern Ireland later confirmed the security breach.

(Covid jab related death?) NHL Player Turned Firefighter, 38, Dies Suddenly During Rec Hockey Game
Raymond Sawada, a second-round NHL draft pick in 2004, died suddenly on Monday at just 38 years old. The former Dallas Star player was playing in a recreational hockey league in Richmond, British Columbia, which is just outside of Vancouver. The cause of his sudden passing was a heart attack
Making his passing even more tragic, his sudden death occurred shortly after he celebrated his oldest daughter’s birthday, as the president of the Richmond Sockeyes, the local minor league hockey team on which Sawada played, said: “It was his oldest daughter’s birthday yesterday. He’s celebrating her birthday, then going off to hockey and poor fella doesn’t return home to his family. It’s just devastating and it’s just been really tough on all of us.”
