[…] The next day, in contrast to President Joe Biden’s approach which focused, as it always has, on narrowing the ability of the American people to find and produce energy, the House Republicans introduced energy legislation which would help the nation and the world meet their growing and welcome need for affordable and reliable energy. The Lower Energy Costs Act (H.R. 1) removes impediments to finding and producing energy. It encourages the federal government to stick to permitting timelines and decide whether projects will be allowed to proceed — one way or the other — within a reasonable time.

O’Brien: New Report Claims TikTok Can Mine Data From Non-Users
Cybersecurity company Feroot Security released a new report last week claiming TikTok can mine data and track people even if they have never used the social media app before. TikTok, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, uses trackers called pixels to retrieve “tons of information,” according to the report obtained by Fox News. This information includes usernames, passwords, credit cards, banking information, and personal health details. The pixels can pick off data from any website containing an embedded TikTok video, the report claims. Even if the TikTok app is deleted, it will continue to collect and transfer data.

U.S. officials say China is still considering giving weapons — mainly artillery shells — to Russia for use in Ukraine. And even a call by Mr. Xi for a cease-fire would amount to an effort to strengthen Mr. Putin’s battlefield position, they say, by leaving Russia in control of more territory than when the invasion began.

Losing a war – or even just fighting a nuclear war – makes a mere Depression look like a day at the beach. Goldman: FDIC sells most of failed Signature Bank to Flagstar
A week after Signature Bank failed, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said it has sold most of its deposits to Flagstar Bank, a subsidiary of New York Community Bank. On Monday, Signature Bank’s 40 branches will begin operating as Flagstar Bank. Signature customers won’t need to make any changes to do their banking Monday. New York Community Bank bought substantially all of Signature’s deposits and a total of $38.4 billion worth of the company’s assets. That includes $12.9 billion of Signature’s loans, which New York Community Bank purchased at a steep discount -— it paid just $2.7 billion for them. New York Community Bank also paid the FDIC stock that could be worth up to $300 million.

Adverse events and deaths reported to VAERS in any given week could have occurred days, weeks or months ago. The number of dead over the last two years of 17,000 is equivalent to one Jumbo jet with 300 people on board crashing every two weeks – with the FAA saying “nothing to see here – move along”.

I have argued on these pages that the Epstein scandal was a harbinger, and that the normalization of adult-child sexual relations was already in full swing. Nowhere does this seem to be more evident than in our public schools. This past month, Californian elementary school teacher and recently awarded “Teacher of the Year” Jacqueline Ma was arrested and charged with, among other things, three counts of “oral copulation” with a 13-year-old student. I wish this were an aberration, but all the evidence points to the opposite. In 2004, a Department of Education report estimated that approximately 10% of public school students will experience sexual misconduct (often unreported) at the hands of an educator by the time they finish high school. If that percentage has remained steady to today (it has in all likelihood increased), that means that approximately 4.9 million public school students have been sexually abused by their teachers.
[…] So if an unarmed black male’s 0.000032% chance of being killed by police is proof, per Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, that “policing in our country is inherently and intentionally racist,” then doesn’t the fact that nearly 10% of K–12 students are sexually abused by teachers constitute proof that public education is inherently and intentionally pedophilic? There are two ways you can look at these statistics: statistics are racist, or predation by teachers in public education goes far beyond a “few bad apples” or even negligence, but strongly suggests the calculated sexualization of our children, starting in kindergarten.
The three parties responsible for this are the teachers’ unions; the predators themselves; and the legions of woke, CRT/DIE-peddling ideologues posing as teachers.

All the while, an accumulating body of evidence has been quietly signaling an additional mental health risk factor many would prefer to sweep under the rug: a modern version of leftist ideology that portrays a frightening world imperiled by dangers ranging from pervasive “white supremacy” and existential “threats to our democracy” to imminent environmental doom. Tens of millions of American teenagers are miserable. Teenage girls, according to a recent CDC report, published on Feb. 13, are particularly miserable. As far as he was concerned, it was all an attack by rich right-wingers against the poor, embattled “LGBTQ community,” as if that community wasn’t hailed, celebrated, and praised everywhere in our rancid and ridiculous culture today. They’re really the victims, Chasten insists, and of course, “The View” panelists agreed.

The headline says it all, doesn’t it? North College Hill City School District in Cincinnati, Ohio, recently ranked #597 out of 607 Ohio school districts, according to the state’s evaluation index. By my grading scale, that’s straight F-minuses across the board. The district’s preposterous excuse? The teachers are “all worn out.” Oh, noes! On second thought, indoctrinating children five days a week must be a grueling task, at least at the beginning. I mean, you know, programming young minds to believe things they’ve likely never even heard of, the need to remember “who’s what gender?” every day, and working hard to keep one’s “woke” curriculum away from irate parents; it has to be exhausting as hell.

Davidson: Ohio legislation would stop state law enforcement from enforcing federal gun laws
A bill that would stop Ohio law enforcement officers from enforcing federal gun regulations that are more restrictive than state law is drawing opposition from country prosecutors, chiefs of police and mayors. Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Loveland, called the proposed legislation a response to federal regulations she said infringes on Second Amendment rights. “This is a straightforward bill that will ensure Ohioan’s Second Amendment rights are not infringed. This bill eliminates references of the United States Code as they relate to gun laws in Ohio,” Schmidt said in testimony. “The ATF’s recent attempt to curtail Second Amendment rights by classifying legal handguns as illegal short-barrel rifles was a clear overreach of the federal government against law-abiding citizens.

Since early 2016, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) has been representing Troy Newman, a former board member of the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), in a federal lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood. The abortion giant sued after CMP had released videos from its undercover investigation that exposed some of Planned Parenthood’s horrendous abortion practices. The videos led to congressional investigations and congressional referrals for criminal prosecutions over the sale of aborted babies’ body parts. Despite this testimony, the trial court repeatedly instructed the jury to ignore any evidence of Planned Parenthood’s illegal and unethical acts. The court instead instructed the jury to focus only on Defendants’ investigative techniques and methods. […] Recently, the Ninth Circuit denied our rehearing request. The next step in this case is to seek review by the United States Supreme Court, which we plan to do in the coming weeks. Although this case has been pending for more than seven years, it is far from over.

Perkins: Levels of carcinogenic chemical near Ohio derailment site far above safe limit
Newly released data shows soil in the Ohio town of East Palestine – scene of a recent catastrophic train crash and chemical spill – contains dioxin levels hundreds of times greater than the exposure threshold above which Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) scientists in 2010 found poses cancer risks. The EPA at the time proposed lowering the cleanup threshold to reflect the science around the highly toxic chemical, but the Obama administration killed the rules, and the higher federal action threshold remains in place. Though the dioxin levels in East Palestine are below the federal action threshold and an EPA administrator last week told Congress the levels were “very low”, chemical experts, including former EPA officials, who reviewed the data for the Guardian called them “concerning”.
Hazard: Democrat in Louisiana Legislature switches to GOP, giving Republicans a supermajority
The longest-serving Democrat in the Louisiana state legislature, Francis Thompson is switching to the GOP giving Republicans a super majority in Baton Rouge for the first time in the state’s history. On Friday, the Louisiana GOP put out a press release that Thompson was switching parties, giving them a 70-vote supermajority. He was first elected to the state legislature as a Democrat in 1975, according to Newsweek. The former Democrat-turned Republican said his values and principles guided his decision to switch. […] “The push the past several years by Democratic leadership on both the national and state level to support certain issues does not align with those values and principles that are a part of my Christian life,” he continued. Thompson has a history of voting with Republicans during his time in office and already caucused with them even before switching parties.

The executive order will prohibit state agencies, and all new state contracts or subcontracts from discrimination based on hair texture and protective styles, such as braids, locs, twists, knots, and headwraps, in the workplace and in public schools to ensure protection against discrimination based on all race-based hairstyles. Dolezal, born a white woman, passed herself off as a black woman to take a job as the head of the Spokane, Wash., NAACP chapter in 2014. She was “outed by her lily-white parents and declared herself “transracial”; then said she’s really black, not white; and then went on to score a book deal,” according to The Root.

Haldevang: Vulcan Facility Seizure Adds to Tension Between US and Mexico
The seizure of a US company’s marine terminal in Mexico has drawn criticism from a US senator and risks sparking more tension between the two nations amid spats over energy and security. US construction firm Vulcan Materials alleges that armed forces, including from the Mexican government, launched a takeover of its facility in the country’s southeast on Tuesday.
