Presidents’ Day is actually Washington’s birthday, recognized by an Act of Congress for government offices in Washington, D.C., in 1879, and for all federal offices in 1885. In 1971, the Uniform Monday Holiday Act to create more three day weekends moved the observance of Washington’s birthday to the third Monday in February. As Abraham Lincoln was also born in February, so many States include him in the observance, and still other States include all the Presidents. George Washington was born FEBRUARY 22, 1732. He was: unanimously chosen as the Army’s Commander-in[1]Chief; unanimously chosen as President of the Constitutional Convention; unanimously chosen as the first U.S. President; unanimously relelected to a second term.

Krause: Presidents’ Day is About Patriotic Love and Freedom

It is now fashionable to deride our presidents as part of the woke deconstruction and desecration of America. Two of America’s most noble presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, whom Presidents’ Day honors most especially, are routinely scrutinized by the vandals running through our country and institutions. Why? The two most consequential presidents are the ones whom the woke despise most. Washington is the “Father” of the United States. But what America is he the father of? The America of liberty, the rule of law, and defender of freedom or the America of racism, white supremacy, and historical injustices? Likewise, Lincoln held the union together, is remembered as the Great Emancipator, and ensured that a united America would stride into the next century in which the United States would be the great bastion of freedom against the totalitarianisms of modernity. Or was he guilty of perpetuating the sins of the past as is now becoming trendy to assert?

VERDICT: False.

Queen: Fulton County’s Trump Grand Jury Probe Was a Waste of Time and Money

On Thursday, a Judge in Fulton County, Ga., released portions of a grand jury’s report on its investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged attempts to interfere with the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. “The Grand Jury was impaneled to investigate a specific issue: the facts and circumstances relating directly or indirectly to possible attempts to disrupt the lawful administration of the 2020 presidential elections in the State of Georgia,” reads the report. District Attorney Fani Willis convened the grand jury, which met for eight months and interviewed 75 witnesses, including Gov. Brian Kemp, (R-Ga.), Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani. The grand jury didn’t even bother to call Donald Trump himself as a witness. It’s unclear whether Willis thought she had the goods on Trump and could bring him down or whether she called for a grand jury to bring attention to herself and even position herself for higher office.

Should the government be allowed to require citizens to receive a medical product if the product’s manufacturer is shielded from legal liability? That is the question in front of multiple state legislatures. In North Dakota, HB 1406 proposes preventing state agencies from requiring vaccines “unless the manufacturer of the medical product is liable for any death or serious injury caused by the medical product.” The West Virginia legislature is considering a similar bill. In “How Government Insulated Big Pharma from Liability,” I discuss how the federal government effectively sold the Seventh Amendment right to a jury trial to the largest lobbying force in the country, Big Pharma. Citizens cannot sue vaccine manufacturers for harms resulting from the Covid shots because of HHS Secretary Alex Azar’s invocation of the PREP Act in February 2020. This transferred power from the citizenry to the nation’s ruling class and exchanged a constitutional right for a corporate liability shield.

Because of this, the CI tars climate realists and skeptics — those who, because they follow the scientific method, point to various gaps in knowledge about climate and weaknesses in the argument that the earth is on the verge of a climate catastrophe — with various offensive labels, perhaps the most opprobrious being, “climate denier.” Recently, Roland Lloyd Parry, in an article originally published at AFP and distributed on Yahoo News, titled “Politics, cash, fame: what motivates climate change deniers,” jumped on the ad hominem bandwagon, claiming that climate skeptics are purely motivated by greed and fame. […] In reality, climate realists such as the Heartland Institute and the other organizations dedicated to the promotion of providing sound policy founded in solid science, receive a negligible amount of funding compared to the vast amount of money invested in doomsaying climate research and climate-related political causes. Most accusers are unable to look at themselves in a mirror and see that if anyone is being bought and paid for in the climate debate, it is they.

Slain DHS whistleblower now under investigation for “contraband” and “possible violations of U.S. Codes.” February 21 will mark three years since Philip Haney, 66, was “found deceased” in Amador County, California, killed by a gunshot to the chest. The victim was not the typical Sierra foothills resident.

Philip Haney was the author of See Something Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad, first published in 2016. The DHS whistleblower also authored Frontpage articles, “Deobond Attacks in San Bernardino, Sri Lanka,” “The Terrorist Ties that Bind,” and “The Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America’s Ominous Post-Election Statement.” The expert on Islamic jihad had been punished for doing his job at a high level. This is the man found deceased in Amador County. […] A month later, in March, 2022, more than two years after Haney was found deceased, the case was proclaimed a suicide. Claims that Haney killed himself had appeared from the start, but were steadfastly denied by Haney’s friends, family and members of Congress. […] In “DHS ordered me to scrub records of Muslims with terror ties,” published in The Hill on May 5, 2016, Haney said DHS had ordered him “to delete or modify several hundred records of individuals tied to designated Islamist terror groups like Hamas from the important federal database, the Treasury Enforcement Communications System (TECS).” […] After Haney’s testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2016, Sen. Ted Cruz asked Jeh Johnson, DHS Secretary from 2013-17, if Haney’s testimony was accurate. “I have no idea. I don’t know who Mr. Haney is,” Johnson replied. “I wouldn’t know him if he walked into the room.” To say the least, that is highly unlikely. […] A true investigative agency would first explore who had a motive to kill Philip Haney. For all but the willfully blind, that would be the Islamic jihadists he exposed, and quite possibly the DHS and DOJ bosses who shut down his work. Legitimate investigators always consider cui bono, those who stand to benefit from the victim’s death. Trouble is, the FBI is no longer a legitimate investigative agency.

Although Nikki Haley is an articulate and attractive politician, the announcement of her candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination left me totally uninspired. Haley’s ambition is glaringly obvious. In fact, she’s been throwing around hints for months that she intends to enter the presidential sweepstakes. She even called her former boss Donald Trump and discussed with him her hardly surprising decision to run against him for the nomination. The former president, according to Haley, responded to the news with this entirely benign statement: “Look, if you know, go by your heart, if you want to run.” […] Haley’s candidacy offers the hope of a return to what the GOP rejected when it nominated Trump in 2016. She represents, for want of a better word, what may be called RINOism. She will end our “vulnerability” to Russia and China but will simultaneously combat “the socialist Left.” What exactly is Haley’s conception of the “socialist Left”? Is she referring to those who are hostile to all those billionaires who have already donated to her campaign? Her war chest is so heavily loaded with Wall Street donors that one has to wonder why these well-wishers with deep pockets have flocked to her.[…] This brings me to a final reservation about her candidacy. Haley is perpetually positioning herself as a not too “right-wing” Republican candidate, who periodically changes her narratives to fit public tastes.

Chalk: D.C. Public Schools’ New Curriculum Turns Social Studies Into Social Justice, Sexual Perversion

hile Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is trying to reestablish some semblance of sanity in the Sunshine State’s education system, the District of Columbia’s Board of Education is doubling down on wokeism. According to a Feb. 12 article in The Washington Post, the city’s public school system — serving 96,000 students — is preparing to roll out a new social studies curriculum for the 2024-2025 school year that will eliminate what one school board member called “problematic” and “archaic” material. A closer look at the proposed revisions serves as Exhibit A for why parents need to follow what’s happening in their children’s schools.

Amazingly, D.C. officials aren’t hiding how truly radical they aim to make the city’s social studies curriculum. Kindergarteners will learn how to understand their “gender identities,” as well as “identify different kinds of family structures, including single-parent, grandparent-headed, multiracial and LGBTQ+,” according to the Post. First graders currently learn “to identify symbols and traditions associated with the United States” and to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. But that will seemingly be scrapped in favor of learning how “one can work together to achieve a shared goal,” which sounds suspiciously like a means of encouraging activism rather than citizenship.

Meyrat: Trained To Hate Their Sex And Selves, 1 In 3 Teen Girls Now Considers Suicide

Toxic feminism isn’t the only thing making teenage girls sad. The combination of social media and transgenderism makes them miserable. A new survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has revealed a serious spike in depression among teenage girls. More than half (57 percent) report feeling “persistently sad or hopeless,” and nearly 1 in 3 (30 percent) has considered committing suicide. What’s especially troubling about this report is how it runs counter to today’s conventional wisdom. After all, our society allegedly celebrates women more than ever and offers abundant opportunities to girls. Furthermore, women are doing much better than men in some crucial areas, outnumbering them at colleges and in the workplace. […] Of course, the fact that girls are more unhappy than ever raises some serious questions about feminists’ arguments. Would doubling down on attacks on men, ineffective diversity quotas in the boardroom, and expanded access to abortion help young girls?

Brown: Let’s Talk: Idaho House of Representatives Passes a Resolution to Start Talks About “Greater Idaho”

For some time now, a number of eastern counties in Oregon have been hard at work in an attempt to secede from their state and become a part of Idaho. And the Idaho House of Representatives is interested. On Wednesday, that body passed House Memorial 1, according to the Idaho Capitol Sun. Unlike binding legislation, a memorial is merely a statement of intent. In this case, the intent is to open talks between Idaho and Oregon about moving the border westward. The article in the Sun said that Democrat Representative Colin Nash voiced his “support” by joking that the bill be amended to include Montana.

Meanwhile, the Idaho Press reported that House Minority Leader Ilana Rubel, also of Boise, fretted that many of the counties that would join the Gem State are low-income areas with large numbers of people who depend on Medicaid and free or reduced-price lunches. That, she said, would impose a financial burden on the state. Hmm. Who would have thought a Democrat would turn her back on the poor? But then again, we must keep Idaho a playground for the well-heeled and famous, right? Or make it that way ASAP. I am sure that Rubel is already vexed by the presence of so many commoners who vote red. Save the ranches for the rich! Keep Sun Valley exclusive! Those ski resorts aren’t going to police themselves, you know! The struggle is real! Actually, Rubel is genuinely concerned with the potential influx of new conservatives.

Binder: Illinois Officials Plan to House Nearly 700 Migrants in Closed Chicago Kmart

Since Texas began busing border crossers and illegal aliens to Chicago, a sanctuary city, more than 5,100 have arrived. The overwhelming majority of those new arrivals, nearly 4,000, have sought to be sheltered by the city, paid for by state and local taxpayers. Now, Illinois officials with the Department of Human Services are seeking to house nearly 700 migrants in an old Kmart superstore building that closed in 2016. Act now. Canadians eager to die are standing by. First passed in 2016, Canada’s assisted dying legislation at first allowed only people with foreseeable deaths to receive euthanasia. That was changed in 2021, following a court case, to include patients with incurable conditions who were suffering intolerably.

And that turned out to mean nearly everyone.
