NOTABLE QUOTES

Gary D. BarnettĀ  contributor to LewRockwell.com: Control over people and nations requires that populations voluntarily comply with, and accept that control. Without the masses acquiescence to state laws, mandates, lockdowns, taxation (criminal theft) and monetary control, the state ceases to have any power. At this point in time, we are on the verge of not only national control by the few, we are on the verge of international control by the few. The central banking system is the key to this planned takeover, so resistance to this takeover at every level by the masses is mandatory if freedom is to survive.

Michael Tennant contributor to The New American: Having previously urged Americans to get vaccinated for Covid-19 to stop the virus from spreading, Dr. Anthony Fauci confessed in a recent research paper that the vaccines cannot control the pandemic and could not reasonably have been expected to do so.

Stephen Green contributor to PJMedia: Disney shares are up Thursday on news that the company is cutting costs and letting go of 7,000 employees. But the real news is that the formerly family-friend studio lost 2.4 million streaming subscribers ā€” and has no plan to end the woke programming that drove them away.

GLOBALISM (GREAT RESET) & TRANSHUMANISM (HUMANS 2.0) ARE INEXTRICABLY LINKED

Klavan: Loab, a Cautionary Tale

Are AI demons real?Ā  ā€œWhose image is on this coin?ā€ When his rivals in Jerusalem presented him with a Roman denarius, Jesus pointed out that the face of Caesar was impressed onto the silver. So Jews could pay taxes to the Roman state: ā€œgive back to Caesar what belongs to him, and give God what belongs to Godā€ (Mark 12:13-17; Matthew 22:15-22). By implication, what belongs to God is you: ā€œGod said, ā€˜let us make mankind in our imageā€™ā€ (Genesis 1:26). The worth of the human soul is as far beyond that of a silver coin as the majesty of God is above that of Caesar. Rulers leave an imprint of themselves on the creations they treasure. On usā€“on the soul-shaped flesh of humanity, capable of loving and knowing truthā€“Love and Truth himself has left his mark. In Greek, one word for such a royal seal is charactēr. By an easy metaphorical jump, this is how we arrive at our English word ā€œcharacterā€: the kind of person you are is like an imprint pressed into you. Itā€™s as if your soul were a ball of wax (another very old analogy) molded by the inward and outward forces of culture and belief. Now, what if we undertook to remake ourselves in our own likeness, impressed with our own seal? If we shaped a simulacrum of our humanity, not as we are but as we have come to see ourselves, would we end up with a machine run by algorithmic rules? A dead thing that looks and acts like us but cannot think or feel? And whose image would be pressed into this counterfeit coinageā€“this ragdoll puppet with strings of computer code? I thought about these questions recently when a friend told me about Loab, the AI demon woman.

CLIMATE EMERGENCY: ACCUMULATE POWER & CONTROL

Pollak: L.A. City Council Votes Unanimously to Replace Natural Gas with Unproven Hydrogen Power

The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to convert a natural gas power plant to a new hydrogen system that critics say may not provide enough power and could cause more environmental damage. The proposal is part of a ā€œGreen New Dealā€Ā adoptedĀ by former mayor Eric Garcetti to shutter three natural gas plants in favor of ā€œrenewableā€ energy ā€” over objections that solar and wind power would not be sufficient, and that the move would cost thousands of union jobs.GarcettiĀ stuckĀ with his plan even after the state suffered electricity shortages in 2020 and after Democrats lost a local special election in which the plan was a key issue. The city councilĀ votedĀ to take the first steps to implement Garcettiā€™s plan, according to theĀ Los Angeles Times:

REPUBLICAN U.S. HOUSE MAJORITY: THE COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Givas: Oversight chair issues sweeping document demands to Biden ‘gatekeeper’ in secret records probe

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has issued a detailed request to a former Joe Biden “gatekeeper” for documents and communications from her time working at the Penn-Biden center, specifically anything related to her involvement in the handling and removal of “highly classified” materials. [ā€¦]Ā  The Committee has obtained evidence showing that you had keycard access to Penn Biden Center. Recent reporting indicates in January 2017 you ā€” while serving as then-Vice President Biden’s executive assistant ā€” helped pack up the departing Vice President’s office.

“Documents on file with the committee reveal that President Biden’s son ā€” Robert Hunter Biden ā€” initially proposed a job in Vice President Biden’s office to you in May 2012. Hunter described your potential responsibilities as replacing the ‘primary gatekeeper for the VP’ and ‘conduit everyone goes through to get to [Vice President Biden].’ Additionally, HunterĀ explained that you would replace the person who ‘handles all personal stuff’ for Vice President Biden.

REPUBLICAN U.S. HOUSE MAJORITY: JOINT OVERSIGHT & INVESTIGATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE AND HEALTH SUBCOMMITTEE HEARING ON COVID-19 RESPONSE

Baletti: House Republicans Grill Top U.S. Health Officials Over ā€˜Mishandlingā€™ of COVID Response

Top Biden officials from federal health agencies faced tough questioning about their handling of the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday in aĀ joint congressional hearingĀ of the Oversight and Investigations and Health subcommittees. Republican lawmakers indicated this will be the first of many hearings into the administrationā€™s handling of the pandemic. AĀ separate committeeĀ will investigate questions around the potentially fraudulent mishandling of $5 trillion inĀ COVID-19Ā relief funds. ā€œPresident Bidenā€™s public health leaders are here today because they have broken the American peopleā€™s trust,ā€ Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) said in her opening remarks. [ā€¦]Ā  Dr. Lawrence Tabak, acting director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH); Dr. Robert Califf, commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA); and Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) responded to four hours of questioning. Committee Republicans pressed the officials on their failed oversight of gain-of-function research, challenged the agenciesā€™ rationale for vaccine mandates, mask mandates and school closures, and interrogated them on their role in suppressing information on social media, all of which they said have caused a loss of faith in public institutions during the pandemic. Committee Democrats largely praised the officials.

Fleetwood: Top 10 Questions A Covid Commission Should Probe About The United Statesā€™ Pandemic Response

Now, nearly three years later, a coalition of medical professionals is demanding government officials answer for their actions. In a new 80-page report, the Norfolk Group, which is comprised of figures such as Drs. Jay Bhattacharya and Martin Kulldorff, lays out a blueprint ā€œcontaining key public health questionsā€ for a possible congressional ā€œCOVID-19 commission.ā€ Throughout the document, the authors raise valid concerns and queries about the U.S. governmentā€™s and the medical industryā€™s handling of the Covid pandemic, in an effort to make sure that such destructive maladministration never happens again. 1. What Could Have Been Done to Better Protect Older, High-Risk Americans? As noted in the report, age is the ā€œsingle most important risk factor in predicting hospitalization or deathā€ for Covid patients. Take for example the fact that from the beginning of the outbreak until June 2020, residents of long-term care facilities comprised 40 percent of Covid-related deaths in the country. Given such information, it remains completely implausible why Democrat governors such as former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo would order infectious, Covid-positive patients into nursing homes, placing other vulnerable seniors at risk of infection. What would justify such a decision? And how many lives were lost because of it? 2. Why Was Natural Immunity to Covid Ignored? Immunity to viruses acquired through prior infection (otherwise known as natural immunity) has been a globally recognized concept for centuries. So, why was it so outwardly dismissed by health agencies when it came to Covid?

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMAā€™S Ā AMERICA LASTĀ  REGIME: TRANSFORMING FOREIGN POLICY

Hoft: 11 House Republicans Led by Matt Gaetz Introduce ā€œUkraine Fatigueā€ Resolution to Halt US Military and Financial Aid to Ukraine

Over the past year the United States has spent over $110 billion to secure the Ukrainian border from the Russian invasion. Over 200,000 Ukrainian soldiers are dead and millions have fled the war zone. There are numerous reports that the US blocked attempts at peace in the region. [ā€¦]Ā  On Thursday 11 Republican lawmakers said ENOUGH! [ā€¦]Ā  U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) today led a group of 11 lawmakers in calling for the United States to halt additional military and financial aid to Ukraine through the introduction of the ā€œUkraine Fatigueā€ Resolution. If passed, the Resolution would express through the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States must end its military and financial aid to Ukraine, and urges all combatants to reach a peace agreement.

(Bidenā€™s War)Ā  Whitney: Setting the Record Straight; Stuff You Should Know About Ukraine

On February 16, 2022, a full week before Putin sent combat troops into Ukraine, the Ukrainian Army began the heavy bombardment of the area (in east Ukraine) occupied by mainly ethnic Russians.Ā Officials from the Observer Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) were located in the vicinity at the time and kept a record of the shelling as it took place. What the OSCE discovered was that the bombardment dramatically intensified as the week went on until it reached a peak on February 19, when a total of 2,026 artillery strikes were recorded.Ā Keep in mind, the Ukrainian Army was, in fact, shelling civilian areas along the Line of Contact that were occupied by other Ukrainians. We want to emphasize that the officials from the OSCE were operating in their professional capacity gathering first-hand evidence of shelling in the area.Ā What their data shows is that Ukrainian Forces were bombing and killing their own people.Ā This has all been documented and has not been challenged. So, the question we must all ask ourselves is this:Ā Is the bombardment and slaughter of oneā€™s own people an ā€˜act of warā€™? We think it is. And if we are right, then we must logically assume that the war began before the Russian invasion (which was launched a full week later) We must also assume that Russiaā€™s alleged ā€œunprovoked aggressionā€ was not unprovoked at all but was the appropriate humanitarian response to the deliberate killing of civilians. In order to argue that the Russian invasion was ā€˜not provokedā€™, we would have to say that firing over 4,000 artillery shells into towns and neighborhoods where women and children live, is not a provocation? Who will defend that point of view? [ā€¦]Ā  This, of course, is a major break withĀ the ā€œofficial narrativeā€ which identifies Russia as the perpetrator of hostilities. But, as weā€™ve shown, that simply isnā€™t the case. The official narrative is wrong.Ā Even so, it might not surprise you to know that most of the mainstream media completely omitted any coverage of the OSCEā€™s fact-finding activities in east Ukraine. The one exception to was Reuters that published a deliberately opaque account published on February 18 titled ā€œRussia voices alarm over sharp increase of Donbass shellingā€. Hereā€™s an excerpt: . . .

Kulve: The Real Russia — and Ukraine

I first arrived in Russia in 1994. I was shocked at the filth, poverty, and violence. I immediately understood that Soviet Russia had been waging war on itself (and its neighbors) since the Revolution, while playing the victimhood card for generations, claiming their military buildup was out of fear of NATO. When the Soviet ā€œUnionā€ collapsed (1989) their only fear was of each other. They needed NATO and their former Eastern European slave states to save them from themselves. Soviet Russia was a terrible place created by murderers and criminals. [ā€¦]Ā  Many Russians (perhaps 30%) in the early 90s idolized America as their last hope, but they slowly realized that Clinton America was not going to help free them from themselves. They chose the only path they knew, violence and aggression, when they chose Putin. They approved of the KGB goon thinking that corruption and cheating, when institutionalized, would somehow make life better. And whenever Putinā€™s ratings dropped too low (70% before the 2022 invasion), all he had to do was to start killing and plundering Russiaā€™s neighbors. That guaranteed a return to the normalĀ 80-85% approval rating. [ā€¦]Ā  During my first visit to Ukraine (2008), I was very surprised that, although corrupt, the Ukrainians were very different from the Russians. They were Europeans. And it seemed obvious to me that without natural resources, Russians would be poorer than Ukrainians. Yet all my Russian acquaintances in Ukraine, who spoke to me as if I were one of them (I speak very good Russian), only whined about Ukraine, while never even considering going back to Russia (these X-Ukrainians reminded me so much of Americaā€™s own X-American eternal victim classes).

Covid-19 shots are included in newĀ schedulesĀ of routinely recommended vaccines released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday. The immunization schedules summarize current vaccine recommendations for children, adolescents and adults, but do not set vaccine requirements for schools or workplaces. Key changes to the schedules, published in the CDCā€™s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report on Thursday, include the addition of Covid-19 primary vaccine series and recommendations on booster dose vaccination; updated guidance on influenza and pneumococcal vaccines; and new vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) and for hepatitis B.

AMERICAN HISTORY 101

Bray: Ordered Disobedience

In October of 1944, US troops landing on Leyte Island in the Philippines were menaced from the sea by an enormous Japanese naval fleet that was divided into three separate attack forces. Summarizing aggressively, the American ground forces were protected against an attack from the sea by the US Navyā€™s Third Fleet, commanded by Bull Halsey. But Halsey suddenly wasnā€™t there anymore, taking the bait of a decoy attack force and chasing it out into the sea. The Third Fleetā€™s departure uncovered Leyte Gulf, and the largest of the Japanese attack forces sailed in. Disaster became likely. There were two American naval task forces in the path of the Japanese attack force, Taffy 2 and Taffy 3, but neither were meant for serious naval combat. They were supporting forces, designed to help the troops on the ground: a few escort carriers, a few lightly armed destroyer escorts, a very few destroyers. Aircraft on the American escort carriers were armed with 100-pound bombs to provide close air support to the infantry. The Japanese First Task Force had four battleships, eight cruisers, and eleven destroyers. One of the Japanese battleships was the Yamato, armed with 18-inch guns. The Japanese attack force sailed directly into contact with Taffy 3, which didnā€™t realize they were about to face the main Japanese attack force until they were already within range of its guns. The commander of Taffy 3, Rear Admiral Clifton Sprague, saw immediately that his task force couldnā€™t survive the engagement, so he tried to salvage what he could:Ā  . . .

Shelby Busch, the co-founder of We the People AZ, and Heather Honey of Verify Vote,Ā went over five areas where their team found apparent law violations by Maricopa County in the 2022 election. Busch said during her presentation, ā€œWe want safe elections, not convenient ones,ā€ sparking applause from the audience.Ā State Senator Wendy Rogers (R-Flagstaff), the committee chair, kept a tight rein over the proceedings,Ā often calling out the Democratic senators on the committee when they were out of line. OTHER NEWS, COMMENTARY, OPINION

Casey: Dangerous Trend of ā€œPsychiatric Repressionā€

International Man:Ā The Soviet Union used the diagnosis of mental illness as a tool to silence political dissenters. It was a practice known as ā€œpsychiatric repression.ā€ Dissidents who spoke out against the government were often declared insane and forcibly institutionalized in psychiatric hospitals, where the government subjected them to inhumane treatment and abuses. The diagnoses were often based on political rather than medical criteria and were used as a means of punishment and control. What is your take on this practice? Doug Casey:Ā Well, before we get into what happened in the Soviet Union, and what seems to now be happening in the US, we really have to address the validity of psychiatry as a science to start with, and mental illness as being a real illness. [ā€¦]Ā  I would submit psychiatry is a phony and dangerous specialty to start with. And putting psychiatrists pseudoscientists in charge of determining whatā€™s good think and bad think is very dangerous. Medicine shouldnā€™t be involved in politics, which is certainly the major takeaway of Dr. Fauciā€™s role in the recent COVID hysteria. And that goes double for psychiatry. Professional associationsā€”like labor unionsā€”are always looking to increase political power and economic wealth for themselves and their members. Bar associations do it for lawyers, the NEA for teachers, the AMA for doctors, and the American Psychiatric Association for shrinks. Theyā€™re all dangers to society. But the APA more than most. To give you an example, . . . [ā€¦]Ā  If you can disguise your desire to control and manipulate your fellow humans by claiming you have medical necessity on your side, you become much more effective and much more dangerous.International Man: Some people have reported certain medical agencies in Canada are suggesting those refusing the Covid vaccine could have psychiatric problems. Itā€™s not a stretch to think those who pushed the lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and other radical measures of the Covid regime would take this step. Weā€™ve also seen proponents of climate change hysteria use language to describe skeptics as mentally ill. What are the implications of this? Doug Casey: The politicization of psychiatryā€”trying to control what people thinkā€”is really, really dangerous. Itā€™s a trend that has been building for a long time, and I think itā€™s getting worse. Once upon a time, somebody was deemed insane if they were . . .

Morris: Telos of Misery

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recentlyĀ publishedĀ a multifaceted survey that measures the self-reported happiness of its respondents. Receiving data from across the employment spectrum, the survey sought to quantify the types of jobs and habits that contribute to a well-lived life. The image that emerges pays homage to the benefits of old-fashioned virtue. According to the survey, quality of work and time spent outdoors are among the most significant indicators for self-reported happiness. These are followed up by church participation, exercise and recreation, and various community related voluntary activity.

Against the lived experience of happy people, the creeds of todayā€™s progressives, who have progressed right past their own former liberalism, seem patently absurdā€”as if manufactured to renounce the very conditions of happiness. In its multitudinous iterations, we can observe the deconstruction of the conditions for happiness.Ā [ā€¦]Ā Ā  How has this come to be? The liberalism of the nineties may have had its rough edges, but at least it seemed invested in maximizing happiness. But what kind? In his book Wanting, economics professor Luke Burgis may have given us an answer.

Tan: Senior Taiwan Opposition Leader Visits China

A senior leader of the Kuomintang (KMT), Taiwanā€™s main opposition party, is visiting China this week to meet its top Taiwan policymaker, the party announced, in the wake of persistent military and political hostilities between the two sides. China has claimed Taiwan for its own, to be reunified with the mainland, by force if necessary, and for the past three years the communist regime in Beijing has increased pressure on Taiwan with actions such as conducting regular military drills near the island. The KMTā€™s deputy chairman, Andrew Hsia, left for China on Feb. 8 to meet Song Tao, the newly appointed head of Chinaā€™s Taiwan Affairs Office, in a rare high-level interaction between top politicians from Taiwan and China, amid current frosty relations.

Braddock: Meloni Ascends

Since the fall of the Roman Empire, foreign influence has had a significant presence in Italian politics. Greeks, Barbarians, Normans, Spanish, French, Austrians, Germans, and Americans have all occupied or colonized Italian soil, and the Vatican has maintained a centuries long influence over Italian affairs as well. Italyā€™s political leaders have long recognized the practical necessity of forming advantageous alliances. After Giorgia Meloni and her coalition partners came to power in the Italian elections last fall, some critics of reflexive Atlanticism expressed hope that her government would break with the antagonistic stance toward Russia espoused by the U.S.-led NATO alliance. These hopes were met with disappointment when Meloni made clear that Italy would retain strong support for Ukraine, as well as close ties and coordination with Washington and London. Writer Christopher Caldwell hasĀ notedĀ that the woke leftist ideas that Meloni opposes so strongly ā€œcome out of American academic culture, are imposed by American civil-rights law, and are promoted abroad by American military and economic might,ā€ which makes Meloniā€™s support of Washingtonā€™s foreign policy agenda a contradiction. But ideological consistency is for political theorists and pundits. Meloni is neither a theorist nor a pundit but is the leader of a great nation in a time of peril.
