Recently, I documented the flagrant political bias of the headline-grabbing, machine-learning chatbot known as ChatGPT by showing how, though it had no problem acknowledging the racial complexion of poverty in America, it absolutely and adamantly refused to acknowledge some basic, albeit uncomfortable, statistical realities about the racial complexion of crime. I decided to explore further by asking ChatGPT a host of questions to test its political preferences on a wider range of issues. I expected to find bias. What I did not expect is how shameless and barefaced the bias would be. Bear in mind, ChatGPT is hell-bent on refusing to ascribe to itself any opinions or beliefs whatsoever. If you ask it directly what its opinion of any issue is, you will invariably get back a more polite version of, “Sorry, buddy; I’m just artificial intelligence. I don’t do opinion.” And yet, if you ask it pretty much any political question, you’ll get opinions— incredibly biased opinions—in boatloads.

Google researchers have made an AI that can generate minutes-long musical pieces from text prompts, and can even transform a whistled or hummed melody into other instruments, similar to how systems like DALL-E generate images from written prompts (via TechCrunch). At the top of that hit list is John Eastman, the distinguished constitutional scholar who made the unforgivable error of offering legal advice to President Trump in the turbulent aftermath of the 2020 election. I have written about Eastman before, both in this space and elsewhere. He has had his life turned upside down. He was shuffled out of his position as dean of the Chapman Law School and has been treated as a pariah by colleagues in his profession. Anti-Trump protestors regularly congregate at the foot of his driveway—fortunately, a long one—to vilify him and his association with the Bad Orange Man. Now the State Bar of California has announced that it has filed an official complaint of 11 charges against Eastman, alleging that he endeavored to “plan, promote, and assist then-President Trump in executing a strategy, unsupported by facts or law, to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election by obstructing the count of electoral votes of certain states.” Not a single one of those charges is true.[…] As Margot Cleveland wrote at The Federalist, the California Bar has essentially weaponized its disciplinary process along ideological or political grounds. If the reasoning behind the California Bar were to prevail, Cleveland observed, then Senator Ted Cruz and the attorneys general from 18 states should all be disbarred. As Eastman noted in his remarks Friday, the fundamental message implicit in the California Bar’s vendetta against him is this: “We’re the government. We’ve defined what is truth. How dare you question us.”

Procedural complaints about classified documents are quickly turning into a catch-all trap that can depose duly elected officials, especially those tasked with oversight of U.S. intelligence agencies. Last August, an unprecedented classified document complaint provided a pretext for an FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s home, in an eerie echo of the use of police and military resources against opposing politicians typical of banana republics. That administrative power flex has now been turned into the unprecedented appointment of three special counsels, most recently against the deeply unpopular current Democrat Party figurehead, Joe Biden. This all reverses the American structure of elected officials maintaining oversight of unelected permanent administrators. Instead, we now have unelected bureaucrats performing selective “oversight” of elected officials. Of course, that pattern erases Americans’ deepest political birthright: government of the people, by the people, and for the people. A government not ultimately controlled by elected representatives of the citizenry is not a republic, nor is it any kind of democracy. Without elections truly affecting government policies, the original United States is no more and its elections are a sham.

Both Republicans and Democrats on the Senate Intel Committee are fuming after Biden’s ODNI refused to give them a briefing on the classified documents found all over Biden’s home and think tank. Levin also hammers a ridiculous story put out by USA Today claiming that VP Biden can declassify documents. “So after everybody is saying Trump can’t [declassify classified documents], because there’s no evidence that he did, they say the Vice President can. No he can’t!”, says Levin. The USA Today article suggested there’s a 2009 executive order where Obama said certain people could declassify documents, which would include the Vice President. But Levin says Biden could not declassify documents and the reason is the Constitution. He says the president can declassify documents – at will – because he’s the head of the executive branch. The Vice President is not.

Dick Durbin claiming that the Founding Fathers would have supported banning certain guns. The Ohio Republican sent letters seeking testimony to five individuals: former head of the Department of Homeland Security’s abortive Disinformation Governance Board Nina Jankowicz; FBI Human Resources Branch Executive Assistant Director Jennifer Leigh Moore; former interim Executive Director and CEO of the National School Boards Association Chip Slaven; National Assessment Governing Board Trustee Viola Garcia; and former FBI agent Tim Thibault. The committee account indicated that a “compulsory process” would soon follow. […] Whether she unwittingly made her comments, not realizing that they would be taken as coming in her official capacity, she — not surprisingly — generated a loud and vocal reaction on social media. Comments were quick to point out that the relatively junior Representative Salazar may be confused or not understand who exactly she was elected to “represent” in Congress. Those millions of migrants are not her district’s constituents, and her ethnic affinity (she is Cuban-American) for most of the migrants does not supplant or supersede her congressional responsibilities for her district’s constituents.

“You teach it to a group of seniors at West Jordan High and they don’t tell their parents.” Administrators, educators, and union officials in Utah were caught on video boasting about how they managed to keep teaching critical race theory or LGBTQ concepts to students, despite Utah’s bans on CRT in the classroom, according to a Jan. 27 tweet thread from Accuracy in Media. The Utah legislature passed two resolutions in May 2021 to ban CRT from schools, and the Utah Board of Education then approved similar restrictions in June 2021, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. China’s top nuclear-weapons research institute has bought sophisticated U.S. computer chips at least a dozen times in the past two and a half years, circumventing decades-old American export restrictions meant to curb such sales. A Wall Street Journal review of procurement documents found that the state-run China Academy of Engineering Physics has managed to obtain the semiconductors made by U.S. companies such as Intel Corp. and Nvidia Corp. since 2020 despite its placement on a U.S. export blacklist in 1997. The chips, which are widely used in data centers and personal computers, were acquired from resellers in China. Some were procured as components for computing systems, with many bought by the institute’s laboratory studying computational fluid dynamics, a broad scientific field that includes the modeling of nuclear explosions. Such purchases defy longstanding restrictions imposed by the U.S. that aim to prevent the use of any U.S. products for atomic-weapons research by foreign powers. The academy, known as CAEP, was one of the first Chinese institutions put on the U.S. blacklist, known as the entity list, because of its nuclear work.

China’s propagandists tell us the Chinese economy this year will “accelerate to 4.8%.” Foreign analysts are even more bullish. Goldman Sachs estimates growth of gross domestic product of 5.5%. China’s National Health Commission announced the end of the Communist Party’s “dynamic zero-Covid” policy on December 7. It did not take long for Wall Street to crank up the optimism machine. Morgan Stanley, on the following day, issued a research note predicting that Chinese equities would outperform emerging markets and global peers. Since then, financial analysts have been falling over themselves to say how China’s stocks will continue to soar this year. Stocks may soar for a while, but China’s economy is far sicker than analysts assume.

Chinese military vessels and aircraft encroached on Taiwanese waters and airspace again, early Monday morning in what has become a daily flexing of power against the island nation. Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense reported in a tweet that six Chinese military aircraft and five Chinese naval vessels were detected around 6 a.m. local time. Taiwan’s armed military forces are monitoring the situation, adding that aircraft, naval vessels and land-based missile systems are responding to the activities.

Less than a decade back, Black Lives Matter arrived on the national scene with a two-part message: A near-genocidal campaign is being waged against black Americans, and virtually all contemporary problems in the black community are the fault of white people. This is no exaggeration. BLM spokesman Cherno Biko appeared on prime-time Fox News to argue that a totally innocent, presumably unarmed black person is “murdered” (his words) roughly once per day. Ben Crump, perhaps the nation’s most prominent attorney, published a best-selling 2019 book actually titled Open Season: Legalized Genocide of Colored People. At one point, as I noted in my own book Taboo, the Black Lives Matter website called for “re-payment to Blacks of all wealth ever extracted from a majority-Black community” by means of “racism, slavery, food apartheid, housing discrimination . . . and capitalism.” And so forth. Now, the receipts for the effect of this movement are in. And what they show is the remarkably complete failure of a Narrative. As crime-data resources like Disaster Center and the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program make clear, murders in the United States increased from a low of 14,164 in 2014 — the year Black Lives Matter truly kicked off — to at least 22,900 in 2021, just seven years later. This surge can be directly tied to the BLM-linked “Ferguson Effect” and “Floyd Effect.” In 2021, University of Massachusetts researcher Travis Campbell found that cities that experienced Black Lives Matter protests and riots — and surely often attempted to accommodate the demands of the marchers — did see some decrease in police homicides . . . but also experienced “a huge overall increase in murders.” The resulting murder surge was at least 10 percent overall, “equaling 1,000 to 6,000 additional murders” when expanded to the nationwide level.

Research suggests that inhaled anesthesia accounts for up to 0.1 percent of the world’s carbon emissions. Dr Mohamed Fayed, a senior anesthetist at the Henry Ford, said: ‘Global warming is affecting our daily life more and more, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions has become crucial. ‘No matter how small each effect is, it will add up. […] Use of high levels of anesthesia does come with risks. While it is safe in nearly all cases, too much anesthesia can deprive cells of oxygen and cause stroke, brain injury, coma or even death. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has updated its coastal sea level tide gauge data which continue to show no evidence of accelerating sea level rise.

The Democratic Party’s remarkable midterm election performance—arguably the best for a first-term president since FDR in 1934—despite Joe Biden’s declining popularity, economic headwinds, and growing social and political divisions, portends a dim future for the Republican Party. In the lead up to 2022, Democrats not only refused to moderate their support for unlimited abortion up to the moment of birth, transgender surgery for minors, critical race theory, criminal justice reform, and illegal immigration, they doubled-down. Voters rewarded them with additional governorships, four flipped state legislatures, an increased Senate majority, and minimal losses in the House. The Left has zero reason to take the foot off the gas. Elections, legitimate or not, have consequences. The most likely outcome of the 2024 election is that Democrats retake the House, keep the Senate, and retain the presidency, regardless of who they run or what the economy looks like. As Joe Biden and Jon Fetterman proved in 2020 and 2022, respectively, Democrats don’t need to actually campaign in order to win political office. Nor do they need to be able to string together a coherent sentence. In the wake of the Trump presidency, the Left has reached a new fever pitch of political intensity. The Left’s access to nearly unlimited money, total control over the media narrative, and an unparalleled national vote-harvesting operation make campaigning and candidate quality of only tertiary importance. A recession likely won’t change these dynamics either. The economy boomed under Trump and experienced severe dislocations and inflation under Biden. But Democrats won big in both 2020 and 2022. Taking the state of the economy as a useful metric for political prognostication is largely a thing of the past. Liberal voters’ religious commitment to abortion and anti-racism is infinitely more important to understanding their political habits than measuring their material self-interest. So, is it simply over? Should conservatives pack it in and go home? Jump off the nearest bridge? No to all three. […] The Right can prepare for this eventuality by laying the groundwork for a counterrevolutionary political movement now. Spiritual warfare against America’s leftist ruling class is a must. Communism is a Christian heresy. Atheistic liberalism is an offense against God. Christians should resist it on those grounds alone. Believers and their allies should take every opportunity to disobey, reject, and delegitimize the ruling class whenever and wherever they can.

Taer: Assistant Principal Asked School Staff To Help Pay Immigrant Student’s ‘Coyote’ Fees, Email Shows
Providence’s Mount Pleasant High School Assistant Principal Stefani Harvey sent an email Thursday night soliciting donations for “a student who came to America with ‘Coyote,’ which is a group that helps people,” according to the message. The email described the coyote as a group that “gives you a time frame to make a payment of $5000 dollars to those, who bring them into the states.” […] “That is a fake email. We are on top of that. We are trying to figure out who generated that and why. We do not have a student that is being human trafficked,” the school official, who did not identify themselves, told the DCNF. Providence Teachers Union President Maribeth Calabro told local radio host Matt Allen Friday that the email, which she first heard about from the radio anchor and then confirmed with teachers at Mount Pleasant High School, was real and that the school was conducting an internal investigation.

Jewell: FDA To Remove Restriction On Blood Donations From Gay, Bisexual Men
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Friday that it will remove a restriction on gay and bisexual men donating blood, a segment of the population that faces a higher risk of HIV. According to draft guidelines announced by the FDA, the new policy would eliminate a requirement that gay and bisexual men abstain from sexual activity for three months before donating blood, the Associated Press reported. The proposed rule change would be a major shift in a decades-old policy set during the AIDS crisis of the 1980s. Instead of requiring three months of abstinence for men who have sex with men, the FDA will make all potential donors fill out a personalized questionnaire that evaluates each person’s risks for HIV before they can donate blood.

Reynolds: NYC mayor Eric Adams is forcing ALL city employees to go through radical CRT-style training to address ‘the importance of racial equality in the workplace’ and ‘unconscious bias’
Mandatory training was said to have been sent to all employees working for the city with a 6 March deadline in an email. The training will reportedly cover individual, institutional and systemic racism, and said that all NYC workplaces should maintain an ‘equity lens’ through antiracism training, creating spaces where race and related issues can be discussed openly.
