Ozimek: G20 Promotes WHO-Standardized Global Vaccine Passport and ‘Digital Health’ Identity Scheme

Leaders of the Group of 20 (G20) have issued a joint declaration promoting a global standard on proof of vaccination for international travel and calling for the establishment of “global digital health networks” that build on existing digital COVID-19 vaccine passport schemes. The joint statement followed the conclusion of the G20 summit held in Bali, Indonesia, where leaders discussed global challenges and coordinating policies in response, including to future pandemics. “We acknowledge the importance of shared technical standards and verification methods, under the framework of the IHR (2005), to facilitate seamless international travel, interoperability, and recognizing digital solutions and non-digital solutions, including proof of vaccinations,” the G20 joint declaration reads. The International Health Regulations (2005) is an instrument of international law developed under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO) that lays down a global framework for responding to the international spread of disease.

White: Courts deliver the first blow against Biden’s egregious embrace of gender ideology

The courts delivered the first blow this week against President Joe Biden’s unconstitutional rewrite of Title IX, which his administration is using to force schools, medical centers, and other institutions to comply with gender ideology. In Texas, Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk ruled that Biden cannot force medical professionals to perform irreversible sex-change treatments if those treatments violate their religious beliefs. The case, Neese v. Becerra, was brought by two Texas physicians who argued Biden’s mandate would force them to choose between their jobs and their consciences. Dr. Susan Neese, one of the plaintiffs, said it would violate her beliefs to provide sex-change treatments, such as puberty blockers, to a minor patient or refer that minor for a surgical sex-change procedure. Neese noted she has treated many transgender patients in the past, but argued medical ethics require doctors to consider each patient and situation carefully and deny care in cases “where a patient’s denial of biological realities will endanger their life or safety.” Biden’s mandate would prevent her from using her medical judgment to help each patient individually and would harm a great number of patients as a result, she explained.

Solomon: Federal appeals court removes hold on Texas election integrity law

A federal appeals court has removed a lower court’s hold on Texas’ election integrity law, scoring another win for measures that seek to validate the identity of voters before they cast ballots. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals concluded last month that a lawsuit challenging the law could not go forward because the groups who brought it did not have legal standing. It follows a decision in Georgia a few weeks earlier declaring that state’s voter ID law was constitutional. The Texas measure was passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott in 2021. It required registered voters who list their address as a commercial P.O. Box, or any other non-physical location, to provide proper documentation of a physical residency.

Whedon: Judge strikes down portions of DeSantis’s “Stop WOKE” act governing public colleges

The same judge previously blocked portions of the law affecting private institutions. […] A federal judge on Thursday struck down parts of a Florida law that barred employees of public colleges from promoting select racial concepts in the classroom. In colorful language, U.S. District Judge Mark Walker in his ruling against the Stop W.O.K.E. Act referenced the opening line of George Orwell’s “1984,” a novel depicting a hypothetical future in which a totalitarian regime governs much of the western world and restricted individual rights and critical thought. […] The judge claimed that the First Amendment protects the rights of professors to speak freely in public classrooms and that the law was enforcing state-approved viewpoints on educators. The law barred certain teaching related to Critical Race Theory, a divisive academic concept that teaches, in part, that white people are inherently racist.

The Berkeley County, South Carolina, school board made several big moves in its first meeting after the election. The board’s former chair said it was a “political witch hunt.” On Tuesday evening, the Berkeley County School District in South Carolina swore in the board members who were elected last week, six of whom were endorsed by the conservative activist group Moms for Liberty. Within two hours, the school board had voted to fire the district’s first Black superintendent, terminate the district’s lawyer, ban critical race theory and set up a committee to decide whether certain books and materials should be banned from schools. In addition, the board voted to replace the chair with Mac McQuillin, a local attorney and one of the board members backed by Moms for Liberty.

This happens in almost every state in about every multi-unit building. We saw it in many states in 2020 and 2022.

President Biden recently met with China’s Xi Jinping in Indonesia. As Gordon Chang reported for the Gatestone Institute, Biden’s goals for the meeting was to “lay out” each power’s “red lines” and “critical national interests,” and determine “whether or not they conflict with one another. And if they do, how to resolve it and how to work it out.” As usual with such diplomatic theater, nothing of substance was discussed, and tired bromides about “working together” and “candid exchange of views” were exchanged. The assumptions behind Biden’s statement of the goals themselves reveal the dangerous flaws and delusional thinking that define the fetish of “diplomatic engagement,” which for a century has been the heart of the “new world order.” Ancient common sense and the sorry record of failed diplomacy should have long ago disabused us of this feckless idealism and reliance on “parchment barriers,” negotiated written agreements that almost always lack a robust, credible threat of force to punish violators.

The Chair of the House Financial Services Committee announced that she would be launching an investigation into the collapse of FTX to “explore exactly what has taken place.” We reported on the collapse and the funny business that had allegedly gone on with the funds, estimated at over $1 billion that went missing. Except that the only problem with that is that the Chair of the Committee is Maxine Waters. If you ever wanted an open and honest transparent investigation of anything, Waters would probably be the last person you would choose to be in charge of it–particularly given the involvement of the Democrats with FTX. How do we know that this isn’t going to go well already? […] Hopefully, the ranking member, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) will also look to the Democratic accountability here, and presumably, Waters will not be in charge come January.

McEvoy: Biden’s EPA Holds Up Major Oil Refinery Amid National Fuel Crisis

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Thursday announced that a large idled refinery in the U.S. Virgin Islands will remain shut down until it acquires a new Clean Air Act permit amid a national diesel shortage. The St. Croix refinery, owned by West Indies Petroleum Limited and Port Hamilton Refining and Transportation, LLLC, has been shut down since June 2021 and will have to obtain a Prevention of Significant Deterioration permit which would require the operators to provide detailed air quality analyses and use sophisticated air pollution control technology, according to the EPA press release. At the same time, the U.S. only has 26 days of diesel remaining in its commercial inventories and a gallon of diesel is roughly $1.58 more expensive than it was in November 2021, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Appeals to “The Science” increasingly come from political actors whose real concerns lie elsewhere. Little needs be added to Aaron Kheriaty’s clear and cogent discussion of scientism and its role in our culture. I would like just to raise, and briefly try to answer, a question that Augusto Del Noce himself raises in his book The Problem of Atheism. After pointing out that secularism (“atheism”) always tries to justify itself either by claiming the mantle of “science” or by promising political liberation, he asks: “which one of them takes priority?” Scientism or (as he calls it) “politicism”? Looking at European history, he argues that in most cases scientism was embraced for political reasons, and therefore was a subsidiary argument. […] As Aaron’s book documents so well, the American establishment certainly still uses scientism as its ideological instrument, but does it fully believe in it? Or is such belief now just “for the masses,” much as Christianity was supposed to be by 18th-century European aristocrats? Do politicians, corporate leaders, and opinion makers really let “science” direct their politics, or is it more the other way around?

Young adults today are emerging from a school system in which they are routinely taught that they each have a gender identity that may or may not align with their sexed body. Research earlier this year finds that three per cent of Americans aged 18 to 29 now identify as nonbinary (although it is not clear how many people who identify as nonbinary seek any medical treatment at all). A further two per cent identify as trans. The growing numbers of trans and nonbinary youth should not be a surprise. […] Writer Mary Harrington has memorably described today’s disembodied, consumerist approach to identity as the ‘meat-lego matrix’. Body parts, it seems, can now be attached and removed at a whim. The emerging field of nonbinary surgery is the epitome of this outlook. […] Make no mistake: the rise of nonbinary surgery is not some brave new frontier of civil rights. It is not a necessary healthcare intervention. And there is no human right to have a ‘mangina’ or ‘shenis’, nor to have one’s genitalia removed completely. These kinds of surgeries are grisly, risky experiments. The real tragedy is that, in many cases, those on the waiting list for ‘nonbinary’ procedures would be better served by a psychiatrist than a surgeon.

With a high level of global immunity to COVID-19, the benefit of vaccination is likely outweighed by this abnormally high risk of cardiac-related death among men in this age group. Non-mRNA vaccines were not found to have these increased risks. As such, the State Surgeon General recommends against males aged 18 to 39 from receiving mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. Those with preexisting cardiac conditions, such as myocarditis and pericarditis, should take particular caution when making this decision.

The 22-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly mowing down dozens of Los Angeles sheriff’s recruits deliberately with his SUV, leaving several critically injured, has been released from jail to allow police to gather more evidence. Nicholas Joseph Gutierrez, who was charged with attempted murder of a peace officer, was released at 9:49 p.m. Thursday, according to jail records that cited an insufficient complaint, CNN reported. […] LA County Sheriff’s Deputy Deanna Mares told CNN that Gutierrez was sprung because investigators need more time to collect evidence for the district attorney’s office.

“It’s not like they arrested the wrong suspect,” Mares told CNN. “They just want to make sure the investigation is going to be complete.” [Note: Yet, Pelosi’s attacker remains behind bars.]

When I wake up in the morning at my home in Austin, Texas, I turn on the lights, and thereby provide a few cents to the city government’s electric company. I flush the toilet, owing a few more to Austin’s sewer service. When I pour myself a glass of water, the city water department gets a piece. After I get dressed and step outside, I watch the city take my trash, my recycling, and my compost—each pickup costs a few dollars. Sometimes, I discover a $25 ticket for parking my car in the wrong spot. Then I swallow my anger and drive down the MoPac highway, where I pay a toll to the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority. I park in a garage downtown owned by the Austin Transportation Department, pay them a few bucks, and walk to my office. If I need to take a trip out of town, I pay $1.25 for a Capital Metro District bus to the city-owned Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, where, along with the price of my plane ticket, I pay a $5.60 fee for the benefit of being patted down by a TSA agent, a Passenger Facility Charge, and a small part in any rents the city charges restaurants and retailers. Only when I’m in the air does the drain to the government stop. In one typical morning, I handed over money to several government bodies. But I didn’t pay any taxes—only fees, charges, and fines. These are the future of government in the United States.

The shot was able to block the drug from entering the brain without affecting other painkillers like morphine, meaning a vaccinated person could still be treated with other drugs if needed. The vaccine works by stimulating T-cells in the immune system to create antibodies which bind to fentanyl in the bloodstream. […] They are aiming to begin phase 1 human trials for the vaccine next year. ‘When you get a vaccine, we’re usually vaccinating people against [viruses], but here we are vaccinated a person against a chemical,’ Dr Colin Haile, lead researchers and professor at the University of Houston, told DailyMail.com.

It’s been a rough few months for the New Georgia Project. The nonprofit founded by Stacey Abrams and once helmed by Sen. Raphael Warnock (D., Ga.) dismissed most of its leadership over the summer. A former executive told the Washington Free Beacon that the group’s top accountant was fired after saying he couldn’t do his job without violating the law. Now the group missed a crucial IRS filing deadline, an error that puts it on the wrong side of federal law. Such chaos is now commonplace at the New Georgia Project, which Abrams founded in 2013 to register non-white voters in the Peach State. The group, and its affiliate New Georgia Project Action Fund, appear to have fallen into dire financial straits since the June dismissal of chief financial officer Randall Frazier. Although the groups raised a combined $37 million in 2020, their human resource director claimed in an October video call terminating three top employees that the New Georgia Project could no longer afford to pay their salaries.

Sheehan: Transgender Activist Dana Rivers Convicted of Triple-Murder of Lesbian Couple and Son

On Thursday, Dana Rivers, 67, a transgender activist from San Jose was convicted of the murder of three people. The jury deliberated for less than one day before returning with a guilty verdict. The evidence against Rivers was significant, including being covered in the victims’ blood. Rivers carried out the slaying of victims Charlotte Reed, 56, her wife Patricia Wright, 57, and Wright’s 19-year-old son, Benny Toto Diambu-Wright, on October 11, 2016. Prosecutors held that River’s motive was that Reed had left an all-women’s motorcycle club, the now-defunct Deviants, and Rivers considered himself an “enforcer” who sought revenge. Deputy District Attorney Abigail Mulvihill said Rivers was “promoted” to sergeant-at-arms after the killings, and that new incoming members would be brought to Santa Rita Jail to meet Rivers “out of respect.”

Winters: UN Report: Gain-Of-Function Research ‘Increases Possibility’ Of Pandemics.

The 70-page report from the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) follows scrutiny of gain-of-function research after revelations that the controversial research method was being used by scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which is believed to be the epicenter of COVID-19. Using taxpayer funds from Anthony Fauci’s National Institutes of Health (NIH) agency, researchers from the Wuhan-based laboratory and the New York non-profit EcoHealth Alliance manipulated bat coronaviruses strikingly similar to COVID-19 to become more lethal to humans. The report – “COVID-19, a Warning: Addressing Environmental Threats and the Risk of Future Pandemics in Asia and the Pacific” – provides 10 recommendations to mitigate pandemic risks, including to “better regulate or ban dangerous “gain of function” pathogen studies” as its ninth suggestion.

“Deliberately searching for wildlife viruses could paradoxically increase the possibility of accidentally generating an outbreak or even a pandemic, via accidental escape,” begins the report.

Guidance documents given to Canada’s providers of medically assisted death say that doctors must bring up medical assistance in dying (MAID) as an option when it’s “medically relevant” and if the person is likely eligible, as part of a doctor’s duty to provide informed consent. The National Post reports that most jurisdictions in the world with legalized MAID prevent doctors from raising the practice with patients.

The decision was forwarded to the Central Bank last Saturday,” the outlet reported.
