The Arizona gubernatorial race was finally called Monday night, showing Democrat Katie Hobbs beating GOP opponent Kari Lake, but the Trump-backed candidate didn’t sound ready to concede just yet. “Arizonans know BS when they see it,” the former television news anchor tweeted Monday evening.

Ben Bergquam was outside the Maricopa County election center and followed a Penske truck leave the center and return to Runbeck. Once at Runbeck, the gate is closed. Every mail-in ballot that is returned in the county is sent to Runbeck first. Runbeck is scanning the Maricopa ballots before they are sent to the Maricopa County Elections Center. […] Maricopa County is the only jurisdiction in the country that picks up completed ballots at USPS Processing Distribution Center, but doesn’t bring them back to the election department or tabulation center. Maricopa County picks up mail-in ballots and takes them directly to its print vendor Runbeck Election Services, which is headquartered in Phoenix.

A policy brief advising election officials how to verify more mail-in ballots in elections – which break overwhelmingly in support of Democratic candidates – was authored by a Harvard University center funded by Chinese Communist Party-owned companies. The 26-page brief – “Ensuring All All Votes Count: Reducing Rejected Ballots” – is a product of Harvard’s Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation. Paper authors include Jose Altamirano, who worked on Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign as a Deputy Voter Protection Director. Co-author Tova Wang was the former Director of Policy and Research at the Center for Secure and Modern Elections, which is a far-left election advocacy organization tied to George Soros and the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), which received hundreds of millions of dollars from Mark Zuckerberg to influence the results of the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden.

They call it “philanthropy, but no one really believes that. It’s certainly not for funding soup kitchens and libraries. As a secret memo reveals, not even leftists buy the “philanthropy” disguise. Mind the Gap is a little-known super PAC based in Palo Alto, California. According to a secret internal memo from 2019 first published by the left-wing website Vox, Mind the Gap was created in 2018 to flip the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives blue.

Many are rushing in to claim they alone have cracked the code to explain this election. But while Democrats absolutely have a right to claim victory in 2022, their most prominent explanations are not only incorrect, they further prove that Democrats are confined to a bubble that is completely insulated from reality. The true reason for the Republican disaster of 2022 is a far greater existential threat than anything the Left could’ve imagined. Let us first go over the major reasons Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) have given for their better-than-expected performance. With just the slightest bit of scrutiny, it is plain to see that none of these explanations is adequate. Abortion. Following the Supreme Court’s historic decision . . . January 6. Let’s go bigger: I maintain that the entire rule of the educated class for the last 100 years is a failure — and an oppression. The educated class said they cared about the workers. But they let the workers price themselves out of the market with labor unions, and now the midwestern industrial heartland is a Rust Belt. You did it, liberals. The educated class said they cared about the Negroes. But they swaddled them in welfare so that, by 2010, 72 percent of black babies were born out of wedlock vs. whites at 36 percent. Eeevil Jim Crow segregationists couldn’t have cooked up a better way to wreck black Americans.
You did it, liberals. The educated class said they cared about women: liberate them from the patriarchy. What happened to that? Today most women have to work for the Man, just to bring in the groceries and to pay for their college. And they are expected to “put out,” in the memorable phrase of Blanche from Streetcar Named Desire. And, in return for “putting out,” our modern women get to abort their babies, as the mood takes them. I bet they feel liberated about that. Result: women aren’t as happy as in the patriarchal Fifties. You did it, liberals. The educated class said they were going to protect old age with Social Security. But Americans don’t own their Social Security. It’s not a savings program but an income transfer program. So low- and middle-income Americans . . . […] Now, I want to make it perfectly clear that in no way, No Siree, have our Democrat friends cheated in elections. Nobody but an armed insurrectionist or an extremist opponent of “our democracy” would make such an absurd accusation.

While it’s difficult to pinpoint what exactly may have caused this shift, opinions of young voters should be taken into consideration. According to the Edison Research National Election Pool exit poll, 63% of voters aged 18-29 supported Democrats, and 89% of Black youth and 68% of Latino youth voted for a Democratic House candidate. With the oldest Gen Zers turning 25 this year, this group includes the youngest Millennials and those Zoomers of voting age.

Mittlestadt: Election machines reported more votes than ballots in two Virginia precincts, nonprofit alleges
In Prince William County, one of Virginia’s most important electoral counties, at least two precincts had more ballots reported on the machine scanners’ tallies of ballots than were tabulated by election officers, according to a report by Electoral Process Education Corporation (EPEC), a nonprofit that performs election data analysis. […] Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger won the 7th CD against GOP nominee Yesli Vega, and Democratic Rep. Jennifer Wexton won reelection in the 10th CD against Republican candidate Hung Cao. […] While the discrepancies won’t change the outcome of the elections, and no other errors have been discovered, the issue has yet to be explained.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Monday on CNN’s “This Morning” that he was meeting with Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in the wake of midterm election results to convince Republican senators to ditch so-called “MAGA Republicans. […] Schumer said, “I’m going to say to the Republicans in the Senate who are not the MAGA Republicans, stop letting them lead your party. Work with us to get things done. I intend to sit down with Mitch McConnell and express that.” He continued, “I intend to sit down with him and say we should be working together. You’re not going to get the extremists in your party to work with anybody, but the rest of us can work together and get some real things done for the American people.”

Right now, the far more important and pressing task at hand is to hold Sen. Mitch McConnell, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, and other GOP leaders like Rep. Tom Emmer, the head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, and Ronna McDaniel, the Republican National Committee chair, accountable for their massive failures this election cycle. Any time wasted speculating on the 2024 primary is time not spent talking about McConnell’s dereliction of duty as the leader of the GOP — not just his horrible funding decisions during the midterms but also the past two years of facilitating President Biden’s agenda. As my colleague Tristan Justice argued in these pages last week, McConnell didn’t just prioritize his allies over winning a majority in the midterms, long before the cycle began he capitulated to Biden’s agenda, helping to raise the debt limit, pass a massive infrastructure package, and facilitate a CHIPS Act that benefits corrupt special interests. McConnell’s success in appointing federal judges is admirable and will stand as his legacy, but now that Democrats have secured a Senate majority that legacy might well be eclipsed by Sen. Chuck Schumer, who has proven just as adept as McConnell at confirming judges.

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) reportedly rejected a request from allies of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to join the GOP over the weekend. McCarthy allies tried to recruit the moderate Democrat in multiple phone calls over the weekend, five people familiar with the outreach told The Wall Street Journal. McCarthy could become the next speaker of the House if Republicans can secure at least 218 seats in the chamber and if he can fend off a potential bid for his leadership position.
