NOTABLE QUOTES

Bob Ryan contributor to American Thinker: Contrary to what seems to have become popular belief, CO2 is not a villain unleashed on the world to bring about global warming under the guise of climate change, which is still used despite the lack of any recent warming.

It does not exist as a greenhouse gas and has no bearing on temperature. CO2 is the equivalent of one of the good guys in nature. When carbon-based life, like humans, exhale, CO2 is released into the air. It then becomes plant food. Plants take in CO2 and another good guy on the planet – oxygen – is released.

Alina Clough contributor to American Thinker: Centering our focus on the human impacts of environmental policy shouldn’t diminish the importance of stewardship over endangered lands and species. But let’s not forget: the Earth will outlive us all, so it’s a mistake to assume the planet’s well-being is indexed to that of our species.

Don A. Wright contributor to American Thinker: History proves that giving the government control over the food supply is usually a recipe for famine. Still, there are many environmental and so-called social justice organizations that would like to move all the privately held water rights to state control. One way to do so is by influencing state water rights agencies through Critical Race Theory.

John Hinderaker co-founder of Powwrline: “Intersectionality” is a favorite lib word. It refers to the idea that there is a hierarchy of oppression, so that, for example, Native American women are more oppressed than homosexual white men. All of the allegedly oppressed groups ostensibly make up the liberal coalition, and liberals expect them to take their places in the pecking order. This works, sort of, as long as everyone is on board.

Janice Fiamengo contributor to The Federalist: By far, the most destabilizing fault line in the Western world is the one that feminism has opened between men and women. It is set to widen even further if Reset proponents have their way. In its institutional forms, feminism is a radical ideology alleging that women are oppressed in a patriarchal order created and maintained for male benefit through institutions such as the traditional family. Developed in the North American universities of the 1970s and 1980s, feminism’s assertions about male control of women have spread far wider into society as feminist students graduated and began careers in teaching, journalism, law, social work, public relations, and business. Though often claiming to seek equality between the sexes (itself a dubious, oft-unrealizable goal), feminists regularly call for special privileges for women and corresponding restrictions for men.

Steve Sailer contributor to Taki Magazine: With male influence on society in decline, our thinking gets dumbed down. But that doesn’t mean that women have taken over the leadership roles that straight men have lost. Just as gay men have long dominated many of the best jobs in fields that straight women really like to work in, such as dress design and interior decoration, feminism itself got hilariously hijacked by high-IQ male geeks pretending to be women.

James Patrick Riley contributor to American Greatness: If you are one of those people who said absolutely nothing when COVID public health policy shut down your neighbor’s restaurant, and their life’s work, you will be seen by history as a coward—and not just the run of the mill coward. You will be seen as so frightened for your own stinking hide, you were willing to take the food out of your neighbor’s mouth. It’s not like you didn’t have the courage to face machine gun fire or restrain a bully with your fists. You were afraid of a microscopic virus so weak it killed less than three in a thousand. For that, you were willing to take children out of school, destroy jobs, shutter churches, cancel graduations, isolate families, and hunker down behind your laptop—condemning, and even censoring, anyone who didn’t agree. In the long history of pitiful, blinking germaphobes, you will be seen as the most pitiful and wretched of all. You wanted the world to stop because you were a little nervous about a scratch at the back of your throat.

President Biden on Thursday said: “Rep. Maxine Waters — whatever Maxine says, I agree with.”

U.S. SUPREME COURT

Crilly: Supreme Court REJECTS Trump’s emergency appeal to let the special master review more than 100 classified documents seized from Mar-a-Lago

In a 35-word order, the justices turned down Trump’s emergency request to lift an appeal court’s ruling that stopped the special master from reviewing documents marked as classified among the 11,000 files seized by the FBI on Aug. 8. None of the nine justices issued a public dissent. Two days earlier, the Justice Department had urged them to deny Trump’s request.

2022 MIDTERM ELECTIONS

Garrity: Poll: Ron Johnson widens lead over Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin Senate race

The poll, whose results were released on Wednesday, has Johnson racking up support of 52 percent of likely voters, compared with Barnes’ 46 percent. The results are a jump from September, when polls showed Johnson polling just 1 percentage point ahead of Barnes, but are still within the survey’s margin of sampling error. Barnes has seen a decline in the polls over recent months after facing a slew of attack ads depicting him as soft on crime.

Berenson: Pfizer board member Scott Gottlieb secretly pressed Twitter to censor me days before Twitter suspended my account last year

On August 24, 2021, Dr. Scott Gottlieb sent an urgent email about my reporting to a contact at Twitter. Gottlieb is the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, a close colleague of many federal officials – and a senior board member of Pfizer, which has made $70 billion selling mRNA vaccines.

In his email, Gottlieb forwarded an article I had written about Dr. Anthony Fauci on this Substack and complained, “This is whats promoted on Twitter. This is why Tony needs a security detail.” […]  Even then, Gottlieb was not done trying to silence me. He pursued me after the ban, quickly informing Twitter when he learned that I had taken over another account to provide a new avenue for my reporting.

Rufo: Suppression Campaign

Last week, the American Medical Association, the Children’s Hospital Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics sent a letter to U.S. attorney general Merrick Garland requesting that the Department of Justice “take swift action to investigate and prosecute” “high-profile users on social media” who have allegedly created a “campaign of disinformation” against children’s hospitals that offer “gender-affirming health care,” leading to threats and harassment, including a bomb-threat hoax at Boston Children’s Hospital. The letter poses three significant problems. First, . . . […]  Second, . . . Third, the call to “investigate and prosecute” journalists, activists, and citizens critical of radical gender medicine is wholly contrary to the principles of free speech; if the attorney general were to carry out this request, it would be a violation of the First Amendment and a blatant attempt to criminalize political opposition and intellectual debate. At their founding, these three medical associations embraced the idea that they should be nonpartisan, neutral, and driven by scientific evidence. But by issuing this reckless call to prosecute critic

Hockett: New York City’s Hospitals Were Not Overwhelmed in Spring 2020

Repeat after me: New York City’s emergency rooms were not overwhelmed by visits in spring 2020. In fact, they were busier during the 2017-2018 flu season than they were at any point between lockdown orders and January 2022’s “omicron surge.” Data from the New York City Department of Health & Hygiene, provided via FOIA request, tell a different story from the one told by elected officials, news media, dancing nurses, and aspiring celebrity doctors.  Contrary to The Narrative, Governor Cuomo’s stay-home orders didn’t come “just in time” to save NYC’s healthcare system from collapse. They triggered a staggering 60%+ decline in the number of people coming or being brought to ERs. (NYC’s spring 2020 emergency visit decline was even greater than Chicago’s.) That’s a hard truth to handle given the city’s record high number of EMS calls and hospital, outpatient facility, and ER deaths in spring 2020.

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING FOREIGN POLICY

Kredo: Iraqi Official With Alleged Ties to Iranian Terror Proxies Granted Entry to United States

An Iraqi official with alleged ties to the Iranian regime and its terrorist proxies traveled this week to the United States for high-level meetings amid a global energy crisis that has sent oil prices skyrocketing. Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, Iraq’s oil minister and acting finance minister, is listed as an official Iraqi government participant for World Bank meetings scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., according to a list of participants published by the organization. He is also expected to hold meetings with Biden administration officials, according to sources familiar with the matter. A coalition of Republican lawmakers want to know why the Biden administration is “roll[ing] out the red carpet” for Ismail and how he was able to obtain a U.S. visa. Three Republican foreign policy leaders in Congress are pressuring the Biden administration to reconsider engaging with Ismail, citing his alleged ties to Iran’s terrorist regime and the country’s efforts to evade U.S. economic sanctions.

Goodenough: Kirby Dismisses Saudi Defense of Oil Production Cut As ‘Spin’ and Deflection

National Security Council coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby on Thursday dismissed as “spin” Saudi Arabia’s defense of the recent OPEC+ oil production cut – which included the potentially politically explosive claim that it had been asked to postpone the decision for one month.

Kirby’s statement came amid a diplomatic row between the Biden administration and the regime in Riyadh, which has pushed back on the administration’s charge that the October 5 OPEC+ decision to reduce production by two million barrels a day was taken to benefit Russia’s war in Ukraine, and hurt U.S. interests.

Housman: Biden Admin Still Working On ‘Root Causes’ Of Immigration Crisis As Border Crossings Remain At Record High

Top officials from the Biden administration and the Mexican government met Thursday to discuss their work on border security, as illegal border crossings and cross-border drug trafficking remain at historically high levels. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Attorney General Merrick Garland, Mexican Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard and Mexican Security Secretary Rosa Rodriguez held a press conference after meeting in Washington on Thursday to tout their progress on reining in drug trafficking, human smuggling and illegal arms sales across the southern border.

The Biden administration has continued to stress that it is focused on addressing the “root causes” of the border crisis, but the fruit of that labor isn’t evident to Americans yet.

The Center Square Staff: Feds spent $131.8 million on technology so foreigners could self-report to immigration hearings

More than 3.3 million individuals have been released into country to the non-detained docket. According to a new report published by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement about its Alternatives to Detention Program (ATD), the agency spent $361,218 a day on three kinds of technology to monitor those it released into the U.S., or $131,844,570 a year. […]  In the first quarter of fiscal 2021, ICE says that 26,000 participants complied through SmartLINK, 28,000 complied through GPS monitoring and 32,000 complied through telephonic reporting. No compliance data for fiscal 2022 has been made available yet. The ATD program was created under DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as part of a sweeping overhaul of ICE enforcement and compliance processes. […]  The ATD is “another example of Biden’s administrative state to work around the laws of Congress to get as many illegal aliens into the country as possible. The goal is to create chaos to undermine our freedoms, build up a population in the next census and register as many people to vote as Democrats, and ultimately undermine the rule of law,” international law expert Jonathan Hullihan told The Center Square.

Rosiak: Virginia Democrat Bill Would Criminally Prosecute Parents Who Don’t Affirm Their Kids As Transgender

Virginia Democrat lawmaker says she will introduce legislation to have parents criminally prosecuted if they do not “affirm” their child as transgender. Teachers and social workers would report parents to Child Protective Services under the bill envisioned by state Delegate Elizabeth Guzman (D-Fauquier).

Guzman told WJLA that “It could be a felony, it could be a misdemeanor, but we know that CPS charge could harm your employment, could harm their education, because nowadays many people do a CPS database search before offering employment.”

Steve Sailer: Invasion of the Nasty Nerds

The so-far triumphant transgender movement is a political coalition that includes two polar opposite sets of allies who are so radically different in their thought styles that they can’t even begin to understand each other: naive nice moms and smart but not-at-all nice nerdy ex-men. The incoherence of transgenderist ideology is inevitable because its proponents aren’t at all on the same wavelength. […] A large part of the mainstream support for the transgender mania comes from nice white-lady mothers, pretty much the same well-meaning suburban moms who buy those “In this house, we believe” lawn signs off the arts-and-crafts website Etsy: n this house, we believe: Black Lives Matter. Women’s rights are human rights. No human is illegal. Science is real. Love is love. Kindness is everything. This momcore classic was originally handwritten from preexisting slogans the morning after Donald Trump’s election by Kristin Garvey, a pleasant-looking blond wife, mother of two toddlers, and youth services librarian in Madison, Wis. In its compilation of woozy conventional wisdom, Garvey’s sign is something of a master class in hownot to be a critical thinker. […] . .  . the nice moms don’t realize they are being fed their lines largely by high-IQ, ruthlessly self-centered men who want to force everybody to uphold their sex fantasy. […] Of course, the nice moms think that they are against stereotypes, that their support for transgenderism is part of the good people’s war on stereotyping, not realizing that instead they have fallen for the obsessions of nasty nerds who love collecting and fondling stereotypes. But, comic as the spectacle has been of men in dresses commandeering feminism for their own ridiculous fixation, the impact of the ex-men’s lies being allowed to go unchallenged upon adolescent girls’ mental and physical well-being is tragic.

EDUCATION INDOCTRINATION

Piper: Education groups target wokeness in schools through teacher licensing reform legislation

The hot button issues in K-12 public schools, from curricula informed by critical race theory and gender ideology to diversity, equity and inclusion training, have partial roots in the education schools that train America’s teachers and administrators, including college bureaucrats. The politicization of these schools is the target of model legislation to reform the licensure rules for educators offered this week by national and state education groups from Washington to Florida. […] Training teachers and administrators to seek out their students’ gender identities may also play a role in the explosion of children adopting identities at odds with their sex. […]  “Radical activists use education schools and licensure requirements as their central means to gain power over America’s classrooms,” National Association of Scholars Director of Research David Randall said in debuting the Model Education Licensure Code, which is split into three bills. The Nondiscrimination Act would prohibit the State Board of Education from training, requiring or rewarding educators to practice or affirm a belief in the “systemic nature of racism … multiplicity or fluidity of gender identities … any ideology or pedagogy that classifies individuals within identity groups” or divides them into “oppressed and oppressors.”

CLIMATE EMERGENCY: IT’S POLITICAL

Clough: The Ukraine crisis shows the far-reaching effects of environmental policy

The crisis in Ukraine is a cautionary tale for energy policy. While Russia is to blame for its military aggression against Ukraine, European countries suffering as a result of their dependence on Russian fuel have no one to blame but themselves.  For years, Germany and others have had polar ice caps in mind as they celebrated shutting down the very backup options that have left them dependent on an aggressive world power. Now as central European powers stare down a cold winter and Ukrainians endure a conflict with no clear resolution in sight, the human cost should make one thing abundantly clear: Climate policy was never just about the polar bears. From Earth Day-style brands featuring leaves and twigs to greenwashed marketing campaigns, more and more climate policy nowadays feels like pure charity or a zero-sum game enacted at the expense of humans to benefit the environment. We talk about using paper straws on behalf of the turtles and palm oil harming the orangutans as if we don’t live here, too. Then every once in a while, years like this one remind us that climate and energy policy don’t exist in a bubble. They’re interlaced with our national security, energy, human rights, and economic policy.

Fox: [WATCH] Hundreds of Muslims Shut Down School Board Meeting Over LGBTQ+ Book Controversy

This is the fight I’ve been waiting for. Let’s be totally honest. The only religious people the left is truly scared to offend are Muslims. Criticizing Muslims is completely off the table according to the left’s rules of engagement, so if Muslims are upset about something, the amount of twisting, back-bending, and acrobatics the left will perform in order not to offend them will be something to see. So when hundreds of Muslim parents, upset at gay porn in the school libraries, showed up to a school board meeting in Dearborn, Mich., and it devolved into shouting and chaos with board members running away and gay protesters being chased to their cars, the fallout was absolutely hilarious.

History proves that giving the government control over the food supply is usually a recipe for famine. Still, there are many environmental and so-called social justice organizations that would like to move all the privately held water rights to state control. One way to do so is by influencing state water rights agencies through Critical Race Theory. California’s State Water Resources Control Board, (AKA the State Board), has released a draft of its Racial Equity Action Plan and is soliciting public comments. The board is one of the more powerful of California’s bureaucracies. Members are appointed by the governor and according to its website, “…the five-member State Water Board allocates water rights, adjudicates water right disputes, develops statewide water protection plans, establishes water quality standards, and guides the nine Regional Water Quality Control Boards.”

Marshall: Did Inflated Voter Rolls And Botched Signature Review Wrongly Thwart Recall Of Woke L.A. DA? Lawsuit Says Yes

fter its push to oust L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon failed because nearly 200,000 petition signatures were invalidated, the campaign to recall Gascon announced it is filing for injunctive relief after an initial review showed 39 percent of the signatures invalidated by the L.A. County registrar were likely wrongfully rejected.

“The initial review of invalidated signatures demonstrates the Registrar’s counting process was seriously flawed, resulting in substantial errors, the wrongful invalidation of many valid signatures, and the disenfranchisement of thousands of Los Angeles County Voters,” the campaign wrote in a press release.

FILM REVIEW

Kane: Film Review: ‘Washington’s Armor’

An exceptional retelling of George Washington’s early life. There aren’t many films about George Washington that are worth seeing, and certainly none about his early life. So “Washington’s Armor,” which covers his time while he was a young officer in the British military, is a real treat.

The story begins in 1752 at the village of Pickawillany, a strategic locale in the lush Ohio Valley that doubles as a valuable trading post. […]  Lane based the film on a book by author and historian David Barton titled “The Bullet Proof George Washington.” Both the film and book are based on Washington’s own recorded journals of his now-famous deeds. And both also describe how the Founding Father relied on the providence of God to help him through the many challenges he faced in his lifetime. The excellent production values of this film are evident right away, with exquisite cinematography, costumes and make-up, sets, and dialects. It’s almost as if you’re being transported to the mid-18th century.

Fiamengo: Feminism Is Key To The Left’s Post-Covid Reset, But They Can’t Get Their Oppression Story Straight

Against the Great Reset: Eighteen Theses Contra the New World Order,” which will be released by Bombardier Books on Oct. 18.

What would a Great Reset mean for women and girls — and the men who love them? In “COVID-19: The Great Reset,” World Economic Forum founder Klaus Schwab and his coauthor Thierry Malleret do not address the status of women at length. But they do refer, on the very first page, to the search for social justice, stating that a positive consequence of Covid-19 has been its exposure of the “fault lines of the world” and its galvanization of the will to redress them. By far, the most destabilizing fault line in the Western world is the one that feminism has opened between men and women. […] Feminism shares with the Schwabian Reset a utopian vision of a reimagined world in which the historically disempowered will be compensated and protected by enlightened leaders who will manage all aspects of our social, economic, and domestic lives. In this transformed world, a never-before-achievable righting of injustice will become possible as the enemies of fairness and of the common good — the selfish, the competitive, the predatory, and the retrograde — will be once and for all neutralized by government fiat.

Solomon: John Durham unmistakably puts FBI on trial alongside its Russian collusion informant

Igor Danchenko is the named defendant at this week’s trial, charged with lying as an informant in the now discredited Russia collusion investigation. But with probing questions and searing redirects, Special Counsel John Durham has turned the Russian researcher’s trial in the U.S. District courtroom in Alexandria, Va., into an expose of stunning FBI failures and omissions in its now-infamous pursuit of Donald Trump for crimes that turned out to be nonexistent.

Special Counsel John Durham’s deft questioning of FBI agent Brian Auten during the prosecution of Steele-dossier primary sub-source Igor Danchenko confirmed the Crossfire Hurricane team obtained permission to surveil U.S. citizen Carter Page without first verifying the dossier’s claims. While scandalous, the Justice Department’s deceptive framing of Christopher Steele’s source network as connected to his prior work with British intelligence is worse because the higher-ups who authorized the inclusion of this detail in the final revision of the application knew a FISA warrant would likely be denied without the misrepresentation.

Techno Fog: The Igor Danchenko Trial – Day 3

Day 3 of the Igor Danchenko false statements trial started with the testimony of Democrat activist and Clinton ally Charles Dolan. For background, Dolan has historic ties to the Democrat party, was a state chairman of Bill Clinton’s 1992 and 1996 presidential campaigns, and was an advisor to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. And he was also a source for the Steele dossier. Dolan’s connections to Russia began from his consulting work, where he served to attract foreign investments into Russia in the 2000s. As part of that job, he would have regular conference calls with the spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin and had occasional meetings with other Russian officials. Other work, such as assisting Disney in obtaining a broadcast license, would keep him connected to Russia.  Dolan was introduced to Igor Danchenko through Fiona Hill in the spring of 2016. TRUMP NEMESIS: ANDREW WEISSMANN’S CORRUPT PROSECUTIONS

Hoft: EXCLUSIVE – ANDREW WEISSMANN PART I: The Many Corrupt Acts of Former DOJ Attorney and Mueller ‘Pitbull’ Andrew Weissmann

We first heard about Andrew Weissmann during the Mueller Special Counsel.  It was uncovered that Weissmann was at Hillary’s 2016 Inauguration [funeral] party. This made no sense to this former international audit executive.  There are ethics practices in auditing that prevent partaking in audits where you have a conflict of interest, whether real or perceived.  This guy Weissmann should never have been assigned to the Mueller team.  Something was up. Some believe the Mueller gang was led by Weissmann.  This gang deviated from standard practices or committed crimes over 130 times in their attempted coup against President Trump.  Again, Weissmann was a key member in this gang.

TAKE ACTION

The Prickly Pear’s TAKE ACTION focus this year is to help achieve a winning 2024 national and state November 5th election with the removal of the Biden/Obama leftist executive branch disaster, win one U.S. Senate seat, maintain and win strong majorities in all Arizona state offices on the ballot and to insure that unrestricted abortion is not constitutionally embedded in our laws and culture.

Please click the TAKE ACTION link to learn to do’s and don’ts for voting in 2024. Our state and national elections are at great risk from the very aggressive and radical leftist Democrat operatives with documented rigging, mail-in voter fraud and illegals voting across the country (yes, with illegals voting across the country) in the last several election cycles.

Read Part 1 and Part 2 of The Prickly Pear essays entitled How NOT to Vote in the November 5, 2024 Election in Arizona to be well informed of the above issues and to vote in a way to ensure the most likely chance your vote will be counted and counted as you intend.
