Former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper has indulged in the worst of all Beltway traditions: the self-serving, post-government memoir. Based on initial reviews and press reports, the sanctimoniously titled A Sacred Oath embodies the worst instincts and bankrupt worldview of American foreign policy elites. Esper has promoted his book by relentlessly trashing his former boss as, among other things, a “threat to democracy” unfit to serve as President. When nominated in 2019, Esper was a promising candidate for Secretary of Defense in a Trump Administration. In contrast to his immediate predecessor, acting secretary Patrick Shanahan, Esper looked the part and had only spent part (rather than all) of his previous professional career in the employ of a major defense contractor. As a veteran of the Army, Capitol Hill, and the Heritage Foundation—and a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School—Esper was acceptable to the defense establishment. However, unlike previous secretary James Mattis, Esper was a longtime civilian who presumably did not see it as his mission to actively oppose President Trump’s America First policies. Esper’s score-settling is likely borne of personal pique. President Trump fired Esper unceremoniously after rendering him a pariah in polite company—and perhaps less employable—by, among other things, enlisting the help of the Department of Defense (DOD) in responding to the riots that swept the country in summer 2020. Picking a fight with the former President still seems like an ungracious response to the man who elevated Esper from lobbyist to cabinet secretary in less than two years.

Laco: Republicans introduce ‘Women’s Bill of Rights’ to protect accomplishments, ensure safety of biological females

Republicans are introducing a “Women’s Bill of Rights” in order to enshrine into law protections for females based on their biological sex. Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., is leading lawmakers on the Republican Study Committee (RSC), the largest group of conservative lawmakers on the Hill, in formally introducing the legislation Thursday morning. “I am proud to introduce the Women’s Bill of Rights to affirm the importance of acknowledging women and their unique and distinguishing characteristics and contributions to our nation. As the Left continues to erase women, we must fight for women and their place in our society. Whether it’s keeping the word “mother” in written law, or ensuring women’s domestic violence shelters do not have to accept biological men, we must stand up for women,” Lesko told Fox News Digital. The bill states that the Women’s Bill of Rights is necessary to establish in order to “reaffirm legal protections afforded to women under Federal law” due to that face that males and females have unique biological differences, which increases as they age.

The bulletin states that “there is widespread online proliferation of false or misleading narratives regarding unsubstantiated widespread election fraud and COVID-19.” This bulletin clearly referenced Americans inside our borders. Also, unlike with the DGB, DHS made no promise to not monitor Americans’ speech. How did Robert Mueller and Andrew Weissmann spend 2 years investigating Trump-Russia; with a team of 19 lawyers, $40 million in resources, 40 FBI agents, 2,800 subpoenas, 500 search warrants and 500 witnesses; and not find out that Hillary Clinton created the hoax they were investigating? Harper: Arizona Gets a Win in Court Challenge to Biden COVID Funds Tax Restriction

A federal appellate court dealt President Joe Biden a loss Thursday, ruling that Arizona can challenge the administration’s rule prohibiting states from using COVID-19 funds to lower taxes. Biden rallied support and passed the American Rescue Plan Act in March of last year. That law provided funding for states to fight COVID-19 and rebound from the economic consequences, among other things. However, the law included a “tax mandate” preventing states from lowering taxes if they accepted the federal funds. […] In its most recent budget, Arizona started gradually flattening its progressive income tax down to 2.5%. Effective in 2024, the state will boast the lowest flat income tax in the country of those with a tax on income. “With rising inflation, skyrocketing gas prices, and continued labor shortages, Arizona small businesses would directly benefit from tax relief,” said Karen Harned, executive director of the National Federation of Independent Business Small Business Legal Center. “

DHS has been relying on non-governmental organizations to test people for COVID-19 released by Border Patrol but there are towns who either don’t have a non-governmental organization to conduct the testing or they do not have the capacity. A summary of the report stated U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement could not prove single adults, family units, and unaccompanied minors had been given COVID-19 tests before boarding domestic flights: . . .

A severe pilot shortage in the US slashed flights just as the travel season ramps up, which will cause ticket prices to skyrocket this summer, according to CNBC. The origins of the shortage began in the early days of the virus pandemic when pilot hiring, training, and licensing came to a stall. Then airlines forced thousands of pilots into early retirement to slash labor costs as travel demand cratered. They believe its contents can be checked against information reported from the laptop Biden abandoned at a Delaware computer shop in 2019. “We have the Rosetta Stone,” one adviser from the Morris team told CBS. […] The laptop Morris’s team claims to have was left at the Boston office of Dr. Keith Ablow and was seized during a raid by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, according to CBS. No charges have been filed against Ablow, a one-time Fox News contributor, in connection with the raid.

Outraged by the unfairness of being forced to compete against a mentally ill cheater, she protested the decision to let a man compete, only to be stonewalled. So now, bravely, she’s speaking out. The genuine woman who came in second place is Taylor Silverman. The events she describes took place last fall. Clearly, the matter has been niggling away at her since then, especially since Red Bull, which sponsors the competition, stonewalled her. Therefore, she took to Instagram to complain. Sullivan’s efforts to challenge the decision to force her and the other women to compete against a biological man began with a letter she sent to Red Bull after the competition: . . . A lawsuit has been filed against a company with operations in Iowa after officials there fired an employee who responded to a company campaign to promote the LGBT agenda, using a rainbow logo, by calling that an “abomination.” The Thomas More Society said the lawsuit charges religious discrimination by Arconic, a global corporation with headquarters in Pittsburgh and operations in Riverdale, Iowa. The legal team explained the company fired Daniel Snyder, in June 2021, from his position as lead operator at the lightweight metal engineering and manufacturing plant “based on a single religious comment he made in attempting to respond to an anonymous company survey.” […] The company claimed Snyder violated its “diversity” schemes, but McHale noted the irony in that, “It is Arconic that is refusing to respect the diversity of Mr. Snyder’s beliefs or to acknowledge that he was offended by the company’s choice to co-opt the rainbow to promote same-sex marriage and gender ideology.”

The shooter who targeted Taiwanese congregants at a Southern California church is associated with a group tied to the Chinese Communist Party that calls for China’s takeover of Taiwan, Radio Free Asia reported. David Chou, a 68-year-old Chinese immigrant who on Sunday killed one congregant and wounded five others at Geneva Presbyterian Church before being subdued by parishioners, in 2019 participated in an event hosted by the Las Vegas Association for China’s Peaceful Unification. The group is controlled by the Communist Party’s United Front Work Department and argues that “peaceful unification” between China and Taiwan “is the only way to avoid war.”
