Costa had asked Fauci “does the CDC, with all respect, have any power anymore if one judge can say ‘no thanks’ to its mandates,” expressing a rather narrow-minded oversimplification of the issue. The CDC has the capability, through a large number of trained epidemiologists and scientists, to be able to make projections and make recommendations. Far more than a judge with no experience in public health,” Fauci claimed. As Fauci sees it, “those types of things really are the purview of the CDC” because “this is a public health issue, and for a court to come in, and if you look at the rationale for that, it really is not particularly firm,” he said with a sort of nervous giggle. “We are concerned about that, about courts getting involved in things that are unequivocally public health decisions,” he continued, in a more serious tone. “I mean this is a CDC issue. It should not have been a court issue.”

A large organization that drives the training of U.S. librarians and their use of public funds has chosen a self-described “Marxist lesbian” as its next president amid growing concern about libraries actively connecting children to sexually explicit activities and materials. Emily Drabinski was elected president of the American Library Association last week by the organization’s members. She will take office in July 2023. ALA’s approximately 54,000 members include librarians, libraries, library graduate schools, members of library boards and associations, and library students. The vast majority of its membership fees, therefore, are provided by taxpayer funds. Drabinski won with 5,410 votes from such an electorate, compared to her opponent’s 4,622 votes, according to an ALA press release. The election was conducted online.

She said while going through puberty she feared that growing breasts and wider hips would mean people no longer viewed her as “masculine” and as the “tomboy” that she always was.

One day later, she lied about legislation aimed at curbing the actual harsh and cruel gender ideology that public schools around the nation are using to indoctrinate kids. Psaki defended the practice to CNN’s Chris Wallace before claiming that kids were not being taught to use different pronouns and embrace the opposite sex as young as 5 years old. The administration has long peddled and promoted pediatric medical malpractice as a solution for children struggling with their identities. Instead of noting the drastic side effects these so-called “treatments” have, the White House is set on spoon-feeding Americans a patently false narrative designed to justify why children should be physically, chemically, and psychologically altered despite their youth and immaturity.

How many times are we going to read about it and say, ‘Oh we can’t do nothing to stop it?’” House Minority Leader Todd Rutherford demanded three years ago while pushing for gun control. “It’s time that we do all that we can to protect our children, to protect the lives of other people’s children, to protect the lives of people that simply want to go to Wal-Mart and go back-to-school shopping.” Now, acting as the lawyer for Jewayne Price, the suspect in the Columbiana Centre mall shooting in which 14 people, as young as 15 and as old as 73, were injured, the South Carolina Democrat watched as his client was released with an ankle monitor so he can go back to work. All that we can do to protect our children involves banning guns while freeing criminals. “We’ve got to take common-sense approaches towards controlling gun ownership to make sure bad people don’t get guns,” Rutherford has insisted. Except when those bad people are his clients. […] Controlling criminals is a much more just solution than gun control which means controlling everyone. And yet given a choice between controlling criminals and everyone, Democrats like Rutherford invariably choose to restrict everyone’s rights instead of restricting criminals.

Former President Barack Obama claimed in a speech Thursday “people are dying because of misinformation” due to some Americans’ refusal to take the COVID-19 vaccine. “Around one in five Americans is [sic] still willing to put themselves at risk and put their families at risk rather than get vaccinated” and are dying because of “disinformation,” Obama said at Stanford University. After describing himself as “pretty close to a First Amendment absolutist,” Obama then called on social media companies to implement more online censorship, especially in regard to potent political issues like COVID-19, the 2020 election and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Utter: Taxation based on vaccination?
Though they subsequently backed away from the proposal, Rhode Island Democrats recently put forth a bill that would have punished the parents of children who were not vaccinated against COVID-19. Had the measure been enacted, it would have financially crippled these parents by doubling their personal income tax. As a further kick in the pants, it would have also required parents of unvaccinated offspring to pay a monthly fine of $50. State senator Samuel Bell was the lead legislator backing the bill, which would have mandated that all Rhode Island residents, workers, and taxpayers submit to a COVID-19 vaccination — as well as any and all subsequent boosters that the state’s director of the department of health shall have required, apparently in perpetuity — or else be subjected to pecuniary purgatory.

A Spanish health care worker has reportedly tested positive for two variants of COVID-19 just 20 days apart — the shortest-known interval between infections. Bond: Tennessee Passes Bill Making Drunk Drivers Pay Child Support If They Kill A Parent Of A Minor
According to CBS 46, the legislation passed unanimously. It had been amended to include the names of the children of Nicholas Galinger, a Chattanooga police officer who was killed by a drunk driver while on duty in February 2019. HB 1834, also known as “Ethan’s, Hailey’s, and Bentley’s Law,” had already passed in the state’s House but has not been signed into law. A summary of the legislation states that “if a defendant is convicted of vehicular homicide due to intoxication or aggravated vehicular homicide and the victim of the offense was the parent of a minor child,” then the sentencing court must make the defendant pay “restitution in the form of child maintenance to each of the victim’s children.”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning that prenatal screening tests for genetic abnormalities, which lead some women to have abortions, can give “false results” and in some cases have high chances of false positives. (NIPS) tests, which are designed only to tell a baby’s risk of a genetic abnormality and not to “definitively confirm or rule out” such an abnormality, are often claimed by laboratories to be “reliable,” “highly accurate,” and offering “peace of mind” to patients, the FDA pointed out in a notice issued Tuesday. However, the FDA “is concerned that these claims may not be supported with sound scientific evidence,” and that in some cases where rare disorders are being screened for, such as when microdeletions are being detected, “there may be a high chance” of a false positive.

According to the article, “The Churchill Park United Church of Winnipeg held what it described as a ‘Crossing Over Ceremony’ in which an 86-year-old . . . ended her life through an assisted suicide in the church sanctuary.” It went on to say that the church’s minister said that it “‘seemed appropriate’ to hold the ceremony in the sanctuary, as churches are often ‘host and home to all the raggedness of our lives and to some of our significant life rituals: baptism, marriage, ordination, funeral or memorial services.’” So now we are making murder a life ritual? The U.S. Army Recruiting Command said Thursday that it had obtained approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform a parachute jump at a Wednesday evening baseball game in Washington, D.C. that led to an alert and evacuation at the U.S. Capitol. “[W]e have confirmed that the parachute team filed all appropriate and required Federal Aviation Administration documentation and received FAA approval prior to operating within the National Capitol Region’s airspace,” said Kelli LeGaspi, director of public affairs for U.S. Army Recruiting Command in a statement.

Brown: LA Times Endorses Republican in Call for a Check on Democrats’ Power
The endorsement of Republican Lanhee Chen for Controller of California — an admittedly “wonky” office — from The Times Editorial Board is based on its sentiment that “the controller should be as independent from the party in power as possible.” The endorsement for controller — “the person who cuts the checks that keep government running and also holds the power to audit agencies that spend state funds” — also notes Chen “is a sharp thinker with experience analyzing large financial systems,” experience that would certainly be useful to look at waste, fraud, and abuse happening in California.
Even though the Editorial Board notes that it supports California Democrats’ woke agenda, it notes “California’s governance is falling short of its ideals” despite “several years of strong revenue that have pumped billions more into education, healthcare and alleviating homelessness” while “too few students can read at grade level, too many Medi-Cal patients can’t see a doctor and too many people sleep on the streets.”
