It’s no coincidence that the plot to impeach Justice Clarence Thomas comes at the same time as Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment to the Supreme Court. Conservatives see the Supreme Court as a forum for legal arguments about government power, while leftists see it, like all institutions, as a forum for moral arguments about the urgent measures needed to address the victimhood of oppressed groups. The former see legal arguments as moral because they are grounded in the Constitution and the nation’s founding while the latter see legal arguments as tools for achieving moral outcomes for the oppressed.
[…] Leftists have to assert that they are fighting in the name of women, even while they deny their existence, or black people, Latinos, Indians, gay people, transgender people or any number of designated victims, real or invented, because all leftist powers are really emergency powers. Kirsch: These people deserve the credit for the deaths of nearly a million Americans
The members of COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel of the NIH apparently doesn’t seem to place any value on human life. In this article, I will show several examples of this. At no time is there ever a risk-benefit analysis where a dollar amount is placed on the value of a human life. For example, if there are 100 trials and 90% of the trials were positive and 10% were neutral, should the NIH recommend the drug? Unfortunately, they aren’t accountable to anyone, so they will never have to defend their recommendations. Nearly a million people have died in the US due to their failure to correctly assess what the data says and recommend interventions that are more likely to be beneficial than detrimental. What do they do instead? They recommend you take a vaccine that is more likely to kill you than save you.

Brown: Atlanta Public School Doubles Down on Election Indoctrination With Stacey Abrams Group
As Townhall reported previously, an organization launched by failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams was involved in Atlanta Public Schools’ election curriculum that taught a slanted version of reality aimed at demonizing election security laws that enjoy majority support among Americans — even Democrats. The revelations were discovered after lesson plans used last fall were obtained through a public records request filed by former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler’s organization Greater Georgia and grassroots education watchdog Parents Defending Education. The records showed that, as Townhall reported, “2,500 students in 11th and 12th grades from eleven public schools in Atlanta were involved in a “pep rally” last September, an event sponsored by organizations including the New Georgia Project — founded by Stacey Abrams — and progressive-aligned Rock the Vote.” Now, Townhall has learned exclusively that even after being exposed for their biased and partisan lessons on election law and procedures, Atlanta Public Schools is doubling-down and already working with the Abrams’-founded group again this spring ahead of the midterm elections while excluding other groups from assisting with student voter registration efforts.

While the phenomenon of furries has been reported — even favorably — by mainstream and alternative liberal media, those who identify as such are still considered a bit of a fringe subculture. But that perception seems to be changing as furries are becoming more accepted. There are even heavily-attended and intricately-planned furry conventions. Photos posted online from those conventions show people of all ages dressed as their “animal personas.” Children who are shy, withdrawn, or otherwise awkward have been reported to come out of their shells when they “become” their animal counterparts. As Rolling Stone — which cannot be accused of spreading right-wing “false information” — reported as far back as December 2019, “Gen Z Kids [are] Becoming Furries” to feel more themselves: . . . […] Part of Pesta’s presentation addresses reports of schools allowing children to identify as animals in the classroom and implementing protocols and policies to make them feel accepted while in their animal personas. Major media and online debunkers jumped in to discredit Pesta, claiming that his presentation was false and that schools do not have “protocols” or policies favoring kids who identify as animals in the classroom. And while mainstream media and online debunkers such as Snopes attempt to discredit accounts of furries in the classroom, there are many such reports (here, here, and here) from all over the country and in other parts of the world. And as the links listed in that last sentence show, it is not all right-wing media reporting on the phenomenon as if to expose it; many such reports are positive affirmations of the bizarre practice.

Blake: NYT Columnist Admits Schools Are Grooming Children Into LGBT Identities
Is Michelle Goldberg a conservative plant at The New York Times? Although she claims to be a liberal feminist, some of her recent columns are essentially admissions that social conservatives have been right all along. In another entry in this genre, she purports to critique the “freakout over sex and gender identity in schools” — only to tacitly admit that schools are indoctrinating children into LGBT ideology and grooming them into LGBT identities. Goldberg accuses conservatives of stoking a “moral panic” akin to the “‘satanic panic’ of the 1980s, a frenzy of accusations of ritual child abuse that resulted in the conviction of dozens of innocent people.” Yet she then demonstrates the current fears are reality-based. Her evidence that this is a panic consists of highlighting some unfounded rumors about educators indulging students with a furry fetish. She then admits that “there’s been a great evolution in how students think about gender and sexuality” with “an even bigger generational shift with trans issues. Many middle-aged liberal parents I know have different ideas about gender than their more radical adolescent kids, and I assume the gulf must be even larger in many conservative families.” In short, the sexual orientation and gender identity revolution is real, even if a few internet rumors about it are not.

And those who weren’t being molested were learning their sexual dignity didn’t matter, which undoubtedly paved the way for poor sexual decisionmaking in the future. Perhaps if these parents would have been called out by other parents for their active participation in the grooming exercise, they would have realized their culpability in the matter. But back then, much like today, many people didn’t like to call groomers out. Abuse remained in the shadows, under the cover of adult reputation. The difference now is that the culture of harm and perversity has been institutionalized across America. What was once seen as an indiscretion is now an industry. And so, last week, as if triggered by some kind of underground bat signal, several familiar faces of Conservative Inc. simultaneously released op-eds and Twitter threads insisting that use of the term “groomer” in the context of fighting LGBT indoctrination in schools was very, very bad indeed.

Growing up, I was a tomboy through and through. I loved sports, hung out with dudes, and refused to wear dresses, bows, or the color pink. By middle school, I was more concerned with being one of the bros and begging my parents to let me play tackle football than painting my nails, fixing my hair (hello awkward side ponytail phase), or crying over crushes. The mere thought that I would one day become a menstruating woman filled me with dread. I thought that going through female puberty would change me for the worse, so I sobbed any time my mom brought it up. By the time I turned 18, my perspective changed. I wasn’t always happy with my body or my looks, but I knew who I was and how I was created. It’s natural for children, especially young girls, to feel uncomfortable in their own skin. After all, young women around the globe are subject to hordes of propaganda telling them how they should look, vote, act, and think. What’s not normal is to medicate, sterilize, or bind children who express even the slightest discomfort with their growing bodies or have an abhorrence to skirts. These “gender” experiments often lead to dangerous, permanent problems such as “sexual dysfunction, infertility, cardiac event, endometrial cancer,” and even transition regret. That hasn’t stopped a rise in harmful pediatric sex procedures that transfigure faces, chests, and even genitalia.

As I have documented on a number of occasions, the Left ruins everything it touches. There is no exception. From universities to high schools and now including even elementary schools, to late-night TV, to sports, to the arts and, increasingly, science, the Left is a destruction machine. And nowhere is this damage more evident or tragic than with regard to women. In fact, nothing demonstrates the power of left-wing ideology as much as what this ideology has done to women. So powerful is leftist ideology, it is more powerful than women’s nature. Here are five examples: No. 1: The Desire to Bond with a Man For all of recorded history, virtually all women sought a man with whom to bond. Of course, a progressive would argue that this was true only because all societies implanted this desire in women or because societal pressure gave women little choice about the matter. It is not, progressives would argue, innate to female nature to yearn for a man. But whatever the reason—innate nature or societal expectation—it is a fact that women desiring a man was virtually universal. Then along came modern left-wing feminism, which communicated to generations of young women through almost every influence in their lives—most especially teachers and the media—that a woman doesn’t need a man. In the witty words of one feminist aphorism, “A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.” Unfortunately, however, most women need a man just as most men need a woman. Most men don’t fully grow up without a woman, and most women don’t fully grow up without a man (I am, of course, referring to heterosexual women and men). If you need proof, ask almost any married person, man or woman, if marriage matured them. No. 2: The Desire to Marry Along with wanting a man, the vast majority of women wanted to marry. Our culture tells young people that marriage is oppressive and that having children is a blot in the way of self-actualization, and my generation is listening. We’re fighting over whether a mother should be legally allowed and socially encouraged to kill her baby — and the pro-abortion side is no longer chanting “safe, legal, and rare” but openly trying to legalize the murder of full-term babies who survive botched abortions. We’re embattled with a false gospel that says the evils of this world are not caused by the rebellion of mankind against his Creator but by “inequities” that could be solved with enough reverse discrimination. Conflicting reports have emerged from the Russians and Ukrainians about an incident involving a Russian warship in the Black Sea. No evidence has emerged to support either claim and CNN is unable to independently verify what took place. What the Russians say: The Russian Defense Ministry claimed Wednesday that the warship Moskva was evacuated after a fire onboard detonated ammunition, seriously damaging the vessel, according to Russian state media. What the Ukrainians say: Hours earlier, Odesa state regional administrator Maxim Marchenko claimed in a post on Telegram that Ukrainian forces hit the ship with “Neptune” missiles causing serious damage to it.

Gortler & Miller: America’s Reliance On China For Pharmaceuticals Could Result In Ukraine-Like Drug Shortages
Americans who think that such shortages could never happen here should think again. In fact, we are already experiencing them. University of Chicago researchers in 2018 surveyed 719 pharmacists at large and small hospitals across the country and found that all of them reported experiencing at least one drug shortage over the previous year, and 69% had experienced at least 50 shortages in that time. The majority were generic injectable pharmaceuticals commonly used in hospitals, including analgesics, cancer drugs, anesthetics, antipsychotics for psychiatric emergencies, and electrolyte solutions needed for patients on IV supplementation. According to the Food and Drug Administration, there are currently shortages of 120 drugs, many of them commonly used and critically important. One of the reasons is that we, like Ukraine, are at the mercy of foreign sources for our pharmaceutical supply. China has become the world’s largest producer and exporter of the essential “active pharmaceutical ingredients” (APIs) used in the manufacture of drugs in many countries, including the United States.

The only question is the pace of the arrogation of our freedoms. They have to be taken down in increments, so that the country won’t notice the slippery slope toward tyranny. In many cases, often regarding energy and conservation policies, restrictions are even celebrated by the loudest factions to help numb the public to the constant attacks on liberty. Timothy Sandefur, author of “The Permission Society,” and a vice president of the Goldwater Institute, has said one of the fundamental problems with living in a permission society “is that it violates the principle of equality.” “Who,” he says, “has to ask permission?” The answer, of course, is “an inferior has to ask permission of a superior.” That certainly describes the country we live in. But more and more, our “superiors” are closing our options before we can even ask for approval. What requires a government permit or certificate, or some other consent today will tomorrow by verboten. Think of firearms.

The rule would prioritize racial quotas and require charter schools to prove they were not hampering ‘desegregation efforts.’ […] The Biden administration has quietly released a proposal for a new administrative rule that will require charter schools to prove their commitment to far-left politics or risk losing federal funding. A 14-page proposal published by the U.S. Department of Education on March 14 — with the public comment period closing on Wednesday — makes it clear that the Biden administration will make it more difficult for charter schools to open and cripple those already in existence. The proposal includes a detailed list of requirements that charters will have to meet before they can receive funding, along with guidelines they will have to follow to continue keeping doors open. One of the requirements facing charter schools, should this proposal pass, is requiring partnership with at least one “traditional” public school in their area. Greedy teachers unions will be thrilled with this arrangement, as charters will be on the hook to help provide things like . . . .

So, what is the purpose of the ESG movement? Initial ESG efforts were aimed at fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas), in a push to decarbonize our economy and transition to “clean” energy. Yet, what if there is more to the transition? What if it goes beyond energy? After all, the “E” in ESG deals with more than just “Environmental.” Issues such as land use and production agriculture must be evaluated for climate risk. What if the transition envisioned by ESG backers includes food production and consumption, mining, and timber? And that is just the “E” in ESG. It is important to understand that the transition envisioned by ESG backers goes far beyond the source of energy, and it truthfully has little, if anything, to do with the environment. The transition being engineered by ESG backers seeks to remake our society in the vision of our utopian betters. Most large global corporations, central banks, and Wall Street investment firms are aligned in their support of ESG and NetZero 2050. The Biden administration, through numerous executive orders, has directed all federal agencies to develop ESG goals, policies, and regulations. This unholy alliance controls nearly every sector of our economy. And if you thought the “E” in ESG is bad, wait until they get to the “S.”

Harrington: The rise of the liberal groomer
Does progress have to mean the sexual liberation of children? Michel Foucault thought so, as did many of the now high-ranking Labour Party members who once supported the Paedophile Information Exchange. Sexual interest in children is hardly unique to the modern world, of course, or indeed the West. Child sex slaves were socially acceptable in ancient Rome, and the longstanding practice of bacha bazi in Afghanistan still sees young boys feminised and abused by adult men. Nor is paedophilia unique to the progressive Left. Just this week, Tory MP Imran Ahmad Khan was convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy, prompting fellow Tory MP and LGBTQ advocate Crispin Blunt to declare angrily that Khan’s conviction was a “dreadful miscarriage of justice” and “nothing short of an international scandal”. But it’s also true that since the sexual revolution, there has been a knocking on the door of progressive respectability by individuals with an intense interest in assisting the sexual development of children, and sometimes — as in the case of Foucault — questionable motives for doing so. Such activists invariably come armed with the logic of liberalism: using phrases such as “agency”, “consent” and “education”. The resulting queasy blend of pleasure, freedom, education and adolescence burst into flames this week, with news of a theatre production, The Family Sex Show, coming to Bristol that offers “relationships and sex education” supposedly suitable for ages five and up.
