(April 10 – April 16) Holy Week, in the Christian church, the week between Palm Sunday and Easter, observed with special solemnity as a time of devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ. In the Greek and Roman liturgical books, it is called the Great Week because great deeds were done by God during this week. The name Holy Week was used in the 4th century by St. Athanasius, bishop of Alexandria, and St. Epiphanius of Constantia. Originally, only Good Friday and Holy Saturday were observed as holy days. Later, Wednesday was added as the day on which Judas plotted to betray Jesus, and by the beginning of the 3rd century the other days of the week had been added. The pre-Nicene church concentrated its attention on the celebration of one great feast, the Christian Passover, on the night between Saturday and Easter Sunday morning. By the later 4th century the practice had begun of separating the various events and commemorating them on the days of the week on which they occurred: Judas’s betrayal and the institution of the Eucharist on Maundy Thursday; the Passion and death of Christ on Good Friday; his burial on Saturday; and his Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Holy Week is celebrated from Sunday, April 10 to Sunday, April 17 in 2022.

(April 15 – April 22) Passover, Hebrew Pesaḥ or Pesach, in Judaism, holiday commemorating the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt and the “passing over” of the forces of destruction, or the sparing of the firstborn of the Israelites, when the Lord “smote the land of Egypt” on the eve of the Exodus. Passover begins with the 15th and ends with the 21st (or, outside of Israel and among Reform Jews, the 22nd) day of the month of Nisan (March or April). On these seven (or eight) days, all leaven, whether in bread or other mixture, is prohibited, and only unleavened bread, called matzo, may be eaten. The matzo symbolizes both the Hebrews’ suffering while in bondage and the haste with which they left Egypt in the course of the Exodus. Passover is also sometimes called the Festival of Unleavened Bread. Passover is celebrated from Saturday, April 16 to Saturday, April 23 in 2022. The first Seder will be on April 15 after nightfall, and the second Seder will be on April 16 after nightfall.

When you get a handful of lemons like we have with the Republican primary in Pennsylvania, you make lemonade. And Trump is making sweet lemonade out of them. The reaction by some to Donald Trump’s endorsement of Dr. Mehmet Oz in the U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania seems a bit over the top. I mean, I get it on some levels: Oz isn’t great on the issues, isn’t a conservative rockstar (as if Pennsylvania produces any), and is an unknown commodity in electoral politics (see Trump, Donald J., circa 2015). But everyone needs to take a deep breath and understand that Oz is 10 times better than former hedgefund CEO Dave McCormick. And in Trump’s mind, maybe 50 times better. If you’re Trump, you have political capital. The man has clout with the base and given the numbers he’s seen, he can be the kingmaker in U.S. Senate races in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Arizona, and Missouri. There are no credible MAGA candidates in the Pennsylvania Senate race; this isn’t a potential Jim DeMint versus Oz situation, so Trump really has two choices: Oz or McCormick. Heine: Report: ‘Person of Interest’ Named in Brooklyn Subway Shooting Was Previously Known to the FBI

The person of interest in the Tuesday mass shooting in a Brooklyn subway station was previously known to the FBI, having been entered into the Guardian Lead system in New Mexico, a federal law enforcement source told Newsweek. The Bureau reportedly uses the system to “coordinate information from other law enforcement partners about potential terrorism-related threats and suspicious activity reports.” The suspect was apparently cleared after multiple interviews in 2019. The federal law enforcement source said that he was believed to have driven to New York from New Mexico and that authorities were on the lookout for a U-Haul van with Arizona plates and the number AL31408. The van was later found at King’s Highway and West 3rd Street in nearby Bensonhurst, according to the federal law enforcement source and the NYPD official.The NYPD have identified the man as Frank James, but stress that they have not confirmed that James has a connection to the attack, Brooklyn News 12 reported. The perpetrator fled the scene following the rampage. [Note: It is being reported that the person of interest is a Black Nationalist like the Waukesha parade killer.]

The Democrat party of 2022 continues to push the bounds of its radical agenda, with particular focus on “abortion rights.” California Assembly Bill (A.B.) 2223 is the most egregious of the fourteen new abortion bills this year in California. It is critical that A.B. 2223 not become law. A.B. 2223 offers protections to people involved in the death of the unborn, as well as of recently born babies, from “the threat of criminal prosecution of pregnancy outcomes.” This bill, as written, would implicitly protect those involved in infanticide from criminal prosecution. According to Section 7: Notwithstanding any other law, a person shall not be subject to civil or criminal liability or penalty, or otherwise deprived of their rights, based on their actions or omissions with respect to their pregnancy or actual, potential, or alleged pregnancy outcome, including miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion, or perinatal death due to a pregnancy-related cause.

The key term here is “perinatal,” defined as “relating to the time, usually a number of weeks, immediately before and after birth” (New Oxford American Dictionary). There are varying definitions as to the time period after birth to which “perinatal” refers, ranging from as little as “under 7 days” after birth (CDC) to “up to a year after giving birth” (National Health Service of the U.K.). Although it cannot be stated definitively, “perinatal” would likely be considered by the courts to last through the first month of the infant’s life after birth, as per Article 4 of California’s Medi-Cal Benefits Program in 14134.5 (b).

For Musk, becoming a cyborg — a sort of superhuman with both biological and technological capabilities — is only one step away. Think Iron Man.

Hoft: BIDEN ECONOMY: Producer Price Index (Another Measurement of Inflation) Reaches 11.2% – Surpassing It’s All-time High

The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 1.4 percent in March, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. This rise followed advances of 0.9 percent in February and 1.2 percent in January. (See table A.) On an unadjusted basis, final demand prices moved up 11.2 percent for the 12 months ended in March, the largest increase since 12-month data were first calculated in November 2010. In January the Producer Price Index reached another all-time high. Now that record has been broken. Yesterday the Consumer Price Index rose to 8.5%. This was the highest rate in that index in 40 years.

White House aides were out in force on Monday warning that Tuesday’s inflation report would be ugly and blaming it on Vladimir Putin. No doubt that beats blaming your own policies. But inflation didn’t wait to appear until the Ukraine invasion, and by now it will be hard to reduce. […] The nearby chart shows that the inflation trend began in earnest a year ago at the onset of the Biden Presidency. It has accelerated for most of the last 12 months. That’s long before Mr. Putin decided to invade. The timing reflects too much money chasing too few goods, owing mainly to the combination of vast federal spending and easy monetary policy.

These God-given rights, some of which are recorded in the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution as the Bill of Rights, cannot be abridged or usurped by the State. For individual sovereignty and personal liberty to be extinguished, then, spiritual belief in a higher power is antithetical to the goals of an overbearing government. (2) Gun Confiscation Eminent English jurist William Blackstone succinctly observed: “Free men have arms; slaves do not.” Americans prepared to defend their lives are prepared to defend their freedom. That Democrats have made gun control and confiscation one of their most pressing issues says everything about the direction we’re heading. (3) Control over Energy Whether you believe that anthropogenic climate change is an imminent threat or not, this much is indisputable: energy undergirds all economic activity. Everything from agricultural production and industrial manufacturing to supply transport, shipping, and consumer shopping depends upon a constant supply of energy. If everything bought and sold across the planet were viewed as a pyramid with the most luxurious items sitting at the top, hydrocarbon energy in all its forms provides the pyramid’s foundation. As governments seize greater control over hydrocarbon energy, they seize total control over the global economy. (4) . . .

In 2022 Wokestan we have lost many of our iconic real men, the ones who protect women from Dexter and Darth Vader, who hold the door for us, who pull out our chairs, who provide for us, who are fathers to their children, lovers to their wives, and soldiers for our defense. They were gentlemen in the truest sense of the word but they were authentic men. Most women had few objections. But outside Hollywood’s fantasy sound stages and streaming studios where veteran masculine actors like Kevin Costner and Clint Eastwood can be found, masculine men are not all that visible. One reason for the proliferation of the fragile, flaccid male is that male role models are often absent in the home. Boys imitate what they see and sometimes all they see at home is feminine behavior. Could it also be that some men wonder if they could be gay, even if the thought is fleeting, causing the LGBTETC culture to not waste a moment jamming that fleeting square-peg thought into a round hole, insisting, “You had the thought, therefore you must be gay”? This is the kind of tortured cultural misalignment that encourages men to be delicate. While it is true that not all gay males are effeminate mewling menfems, discerning who is who is getting predictably tedious and only irritates those of us who miss masculine men.
