Nothing is more controversial about Donald Trump than his personality; even many people who supported his policies and believe he was an effective president ruefully admit that they wish he would tone it down a bit. Although, to be sure, many others were and are delighted that he is utterly sincere, even in his notorious “mean tweets,” without the calculation and artifice of the average politician. On Saturday night in South Carolina, Trump went even farther, asserting that “my personality is what kept us out of war.” Whatever you may think of him, he has a point. Trump’s assessment of Old Joe Biden’s disastrous presidency was right on the money. “You could take the five worst presidents in American history and they would not have done the damage Joe Biden has done in just 13 months.” That would be Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Herbert Hoover, James Buchanan and Franklin Pierce; Biden makes all of them look like candidates for Mount Rushmore. Trump was also correct in his characterization of his foundering successor. “We have a president representing our country at the most important time in history, who is physically and mentally challenged.”

Twitchy: Human trafficking sting in Polk County nabs four Disney employees
We just had to do a post about this. It was a pressure campaign from Disney employees in Florida that led CEO Bob Chapek to bend the knee and tell Gov. Ron DeSantis just how “disappointed” and “concerned” the company was over the Parental Rights in Education Bill. Chapek then sent out a mass email apologizing to employees for the delay in opposing the bill and addressing the pain, frustration, and sadness the delay had caused them. CNN’s Brian Stelter wondered on “Reliable Sources” how a CEO could be so out-of-touch with his employees. After all, this is a company that’s all about children.

One. Reassuring an enemy what one will not do ensures that the enemy will do just that and more. Unpredictability and occasional enigmatic silence bolster deterrence. But Joe Biden’s predictable reassurance to Russian President Vladimir Putin that he will show restraint means Putin likely will not.
Two. No-fly zones don’t work in a big-power, symmetrical standoff. In a cost-benefit analysis, they are not worth the risk of shooting down the planes of a nuclear power. They usually do little to stop planes outside of such zones shooting missiles into them. Sending long-range, high-altitude anti-aircraft batteries to Ukraine to deny Russian air superiority is a far better way of regaining air parity. Three. Europe, NATO members, and Germany in particular have de facto admitted that their past decades of shutting down nuclear plants, coal mines, and oil and gas fields have left Europe at the mercy of Russia. They are promising to rearm and meet their promised military contributions. By their actions, they are admitting that their critics, the United States in particular, were right, and they were dangerously wrong in empowering Putin. Four. China is now pro-Russian.

Gunfire and burning vehicles in the Mexican border city of Nuevo Laredo led U.S. officials to close the U.S. consulate there and briefly shut down close border crossings Monday. The gunfire erupted late Sunday after the arrest of a leader of one faction of the Northeast Cartel, the successor group to the old Zetas Cartel, Mexico’s most bloodthirsty gang. Suspected cartel members opened fire and hijacked and burned vehicles, apparently in retaliation for the arrest. U.S Customs and Border Protection said southbound traffic from Laredo, Texas, into Nuevo Laredo at the Juarez-Lincoln and Gateway to the Americas bridges was suspended, but re-opened early Monday morning.

In 2008, the process of charging Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others began. Unfortunately a year later, the pro-terrorist administration of Barack Hussein Obama took office. […] The military court system, which was meant to expedite the trials and convictions of terrorists as enemy insurgents during wartime, not criminal defendants protected by the Constitution, has been corrupted and broken. It needs to be replaced. But that is not likely to happen until the next phase of the war against Islamic terrorism is underway. Greenfield: Biden Shields All Afghans He Illegally Brought Here From Deportation
As I discussed in my article on the ‘Afghan Adjustment Act’, Biden keeps trying to do an end-run around the rules for the Afghans he brought here. Despite the virtual lack of vetting, hundreds of the Afghan migrants are being flagged as security risks. 50 believed to be security risks were already released in this country and the majority of them are in the wind. Four have already been involved in sexual assault cases. Considering how much the Afghans have misbehaved in so little time, the refugee resettlement contractors are understandably worried that much more damaging information will come out after two years.
After lying to us about saving “interpreters”, and lying about the Afghans being carefully “vetted”, they’re trying to pull off the biggest scam yet by retroactively legalizing their illegal evacuation under the umbrella of an Afghan Adjustment Act which will shut down any further scrutiny.

Everything old is new again: Inflation plagues the US economy. The Consumer Price Index is up 7.9 percent from a year ago. The Personal Consumptions Expenditures index is up 6.1 percent from a year ago. We haven’t seen price pressures like these in 40 years. If we want to understand inflation, we need a framework to organize our thoughts. Economies are fiendishly complex; without a model that helps us focus on the relevant details, we’re lost in the woods. Inflation means a general increase in prices. Equivalently, it means the dollar is losing purchasing power. Economists distinguish general price changes from relative price changes. The latter comes from the forces of supply and demand operating in specific markets. The former is common to all markets. We frequently use the concepts of aggregate demand and aggregate supply to analyze inflation. But despite the similarity in names, these concepts aren’t the same as microeconomic supply and demand. Aggregate demand refers to total nominal spending in the economy. Aggregate supply means general productive conditions.

When retail sales are calculated, they are calculated in dollars. Any recorded increase in retail sales that does not exceed the price increases in those items is factually reflecting a drop in units sold. Ex. – if you sell 300 items at $1.00 each, you have $300 in sales. If you sell 250 items at $1.25 each, you have $312.50 in sales. Technically, you have a 4.1% increase in sales. However, you have sold 17% less items (50 units). When you are selling less stuff, your business (economy) is contracting, not expanding. We have been in this contracting cycle (an actual production recession) since May/June of last year; however, the contraction has not been recognized because massive inflation is hiding it. That, my friends, is the painful truth and it spells big trouble ahead.

This is really weird folks, and not just the part I am highlighting here. In a very creepy public presentation today by Joe Biden highlighting the extension of the ‘violence against women act‘, Biden went through the stages of shouting then whispering as he delivered remarks about abuse and exploitation based on gender. In part of his remarks, and trust me, the entire remarks were seriously disturbing, Joe Biden said, “I’ll bet everybody knows someone, somewhere along the line, that in an intimate relationship what happened was the guy takes a revealing picture of a naked friend, or whatever, in a compromising position, and then literally in a sense blackmails’ them or mortifies them.” Maybe it’s my own naiveté, but I don’t know a single person this would relate to.

On Tuesday, following the signing of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, Joe Biden ignored Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich’s question about whether he had anything “to say about the death of Americans in Ukraine.” Three journalists had been in a vehicle struck by fire earlier in the day, claiming the lives of Fox News cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski, 55, and Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova, who was just 24 years old. Fox News correspondent Benjamin Hall was seriously injured in the attack. Former New York Times journalist Brent Renaud, 50, was killed Sunday.

Durden: North Korea Missile Test-Launch Ends In Disaster After Exploding During Booster Phase
A North Korean projectile exploded shortly after launch on Wednesday, Reuters reports, citing South Korea’s military. The suspected missile would have been the Kim Jong Un regime’s 10th launch this year. The missile was launched from the international airport in Sunanm near the capital of Pyongyang, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a statement. “It is presumed that it failed immediately after launch,” the statement said. JCS told Reuters the projectile was presumed to be a ballistic missile and exploded at a 12-mile altitude during its booster phase.
