Tucker: Supreme Court considers whether federal police may be sued for excessive force in 2014 case against a Border Patrol agent
The US Supreme Court is considering a case that could change the broad immunity from prosecution federal officers have while performing their duties. […] During the proceedings Wednesday, Chief Justice John Roberts addressed a key issue in the case, which is whether Congress alone should have the power to create damages actions in cases involving federal officers. Associate Justice Clarence Thomas noted the high court has almost “universally declined” to expand the Bivens case with additional claims into “new contexts.” Boule’s claim of retaliation by Egbert in violation of his first amendment rights has never been recognized in a previous Bivens claim. “But aren’t you up against the fact that we have declined to apply or extend Bivens in recent history?” Thomas asked Boule’s attorney, Felicia Ellsworth. In response, Ellsworth said “we don’t think this is a new context,” adding the incident involved an “unlawful entry without a warrant, and this is excessive force on private property against a US citizen on domestic soil.”

Hoft: Justice Clarence Thomas Asks the Supreme Court to Reevaluate Big Tech’s Immunity Under Section 230
Justice Clarence Thomas issued a statement on Monday about the denial of certiorari in the Jane Doe v. Facebook case. In his statement, Justice Thomas called for the Supreme Court to “address the proper scope of immunity under §230 in an appropriate case” available to Big Tech.
Justice Thomas narrated that it’s “hard to see” why section 230 is protecting the Big Tech from liability for companies’ “own ‘acts and omissions.’ “It is hard to see why the protection §230(c)(1) grants publishers against being held strictly liable for third parties’ content should protect Facebook from liability for its own “acts and omissions,” Justice Thomas stated.

Buskirk: Reject Liz Cheney’s War
After nearly two weeks, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues with the Russian military steadily gaining ground and methodically taking control of key assets such as highways, bridges, airports, and power plants. As the Russians advance, they are also encircling and cutting off the main concentrations of the Ukrainian military. If those encirclements are completed, it could get ugly. It’s into that cauldron that U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) would plunge the United States. On “Face the Nation” last week Cheney was nothing short of bellicose calling for escalation across the board. Cheney wants Biden to expand already sweeping sanctions and seize the Russian Central Bank’s foreign reserves. Weaponizing the dollar and the banking system in this way, she apparently fails to realize, carries with it risks to dollar-supremacy and the global dominance of American financial institutions. As other nations watch America use the dollar and important elements of the international banking infrastructure such as the SWIFT system as weapons, they will realize their own vulnerability and take steps to protect themselves from U.S.-dominated financial systems. China already offers alternatives and Biden’s actions are the best advertising for those systems they could ask for.

As the list of reported U.S. concessions in the Iran nuclear talks grows longer, Russian and Iranian negotiators are celebrating what they’re describing as a major diplomatic coup for Iran. Lead Russian negotiator Mikhail Ulyanov said in a recent interview that Iran, Russia, and China aligned in the ongoing talks in Vienna to revive the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, forcing the U.S. and its European allies to make major concessions. “Iran got much more than it could expect,” said Ulyanov. “Much more. … Realistically speaking, Iran got more than frankly I expected, others expected. This is a matter of fact.” After praising the Iranians for fighting “like lions” in the Vienna talks, Ulyanov described China as a teammate in the negotiations. […] The Biden administration has made reviving the deal one if its chief policy goals. Under the accord being negotiated, Iran will retain the ability to quickly resume the enrichment of uranium to 60% purity, Khoshcheshm told the Tehran Times, a major English-language Iranian newspaper with close ties to the regime. Uranium enriched to 60% can be quickly turned into 90% weapons-grade purity, the level required to produce an atomic bomb.

However, Biden administration officials do not want to indict the Iranian assassins, for fear of disrupting the “progress” in Vienna, Austria, of a globally catastrophic “nuclear deal,” during which the interests of the United States are being negotiated by – Russia! Similar assassination plots, according to the report, also exist against former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other officials serving the United States now or who have served.
