Vadum: A Supreme Crackdown on the Environmental Protection Agency?
The Supreme Court may be on the verge of clawing back some of the sweeping regulatory authority it unwisely gave the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 15 years ago at the height of Al Gore-promoted global warming hysteria. This about-face by the high court could come if conservative justices have the courage to do the right thing in West Virginia v. EPA, which the court heard Feb. 28. In all, 19 states are challenging how much power the federal Clean Air Act gives the agency. West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, a Republican leading the legal challenge, told this writer recently he is concerned the EPA is transforming itself from “an environmental regulator into a central energy planning authority.” Morrisey said this case is “so important because it gets to the fundamental question as to who gets to decide the major questions of the day in our society.”

A judge on Friday blocked a shameless Democrat electoral challenge that sought to disqualify Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina from running for re-election by labeling him an insurrectionist.  U.S. District Judge Richard E. Myers II, an appointee of President Donald J. Trump, stepped in to squelch an effort by Democrat lawyers in North Carolina who had filed a motion before the state’s Board of Elections declaring Mr. Cawthorn, 26, ineligible for re-election under the Constitution. They had contended that the first-term Republican’s support for Patriots who entered the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, made him an “insurrectionist,” and therefore barred him from office under the little-known third section of the 14th Amendment, adopted during Reconstruction to punish members of the Confederacy.

I’ve been following the redistricting saga unfolding in Florida for months now, and it’s one of the more infuriating stories in the country. While Democrats have gone weapons hot, gerrymandering like crazy in states like New York, Illinois, and Maryland, the GOP-controlled legislature in Florida has charted a path of unconditional surrender. […]  I can’t quite put my finger on the reason, but it’s clear that some of the Republicans in the legislature really don’t like DeSantis. Is it because he wasn’t a coward who bowed to the COVID hysterics on useless, ineffective mitigation measures like mask mandates? Or is it because DeSantis is assertive and pushes forward with measures that the majority of Floridians want, even if it’s uncomfortable for the establishment class? Whatever the reason, it’s utterly ridiculous that things have gotten to this point. A GOP-dominated legislature in Florida should be passing a map that takes full advantage of their majority, just as Democrats did in New York and elsewhere. To surrender on redistricting is inexplicable, especially during the tenous times currently plaguing the nation.

The Right Scoop: Senate Republicans pass bill to end COVID National Emergency and not a single Democrat voted for it
I don’t understand why Democrats would vote against such a measure, especially in an election year. The American public is tired of this pandemic nonsense and really does want to get back to normal. You’d think they wouldn’t want such a vote on their record as badly as they are expected to get beat this year.
As far as the House goes, perhaps there are enough Red State Democrats that could help push this into passage. That would then put the emphasis on Biden to sign it. [NOTE: Two Republicans did not vote –  Inhofe (R-OK) and Burr (R-NC) did not vote.]

In response to a FOIA request filed by TheBlaze, HHS revealed that it purchased advertising from major news networks including ABC, CBS, and NBC, as well as cable TV news stations Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC, legacy media publications including the New York Post, the Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post, digital media companies like BuzzFeed News and Newsmax, and hundreds of local newspapers and TV stations. These outlets were collectively responsible for publishing countless articles and video segments regarding the vaccine that were nearly uniformly positive about the vaccine in terms of both its efficacy and safety. Hundreds of news organizations were paid by the federal government to advertise for the vaccines as part of a “comprehensive media campaign,” according to documents TheBlaze obtained from the Department of Health and Human Services. The Biden administration purchased ads on TV, radio, in print, and on social media to build vaccine confidence, timing this effort with the increasing availability of the vaccines. The government also relied on earned media featuring “influencers” from “communities hit hard by COVID-19” and “experts” like White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci and other academics to be interviewed and promote vaccination in the news.

Carney: U.S. Crude Soars Above $130 a Barrel
West Texas Intermediate crude futures, the U.S. benchmark rose as high as $130.50 a barrel before retreating to $123.09.  WTI’s highest price since 1983 was $143.67 in 2008. Adjusted for inflation that would be $186.73. Brent crude futures, the global benchmark, traded as high as $139.13 on Sunday evening. By 8:45 P.M. EST, Brent was down to $126.30.
