Lendrum: Federal Court Rules in Favor of Navy SEALs who Refuse to Take Vaccine
The appeals court ruled that the Department of Defense failed to prove that the vaccine mandate served “‘paramount interests’ that justify vaccinating these 35 Plaintiffs against COVID-19 in violation of their religious beliefs.” The court noted that despite the Navy claiming to have a “compelling interest” in forcing all sailors to get vaccinated, it “undermined” its own mandate by preparing unvaccinated SEALs for deployment while the pandemic was still ongoing. Furthermore, the court pointed out that the Navy had already granted religious exemptions to at least 17 service members who previously requested such exemptions, and the Navy failed to “differentiate those service members from [the] Plaintiffs.” In conclusion, the court wrote, the “Defendants have not shown a compelling interest to deny religious accommodations to each of these 35 Plaintiffs.”

A judge has rejected an effort by New York’s attorney general to put the National Rifle Association out of business, but will allow her lawsuit accusing top executives of illegally diverting tens of millions of dollars from the powerful gun advocacy organization to proceed. Manhattan Judge Joel M. Cohen said allegations of NRA officials misspending on personal trips, no-show contracts and other questionable expenditures can be addressed by other remedies, such as fines and remuneration, and do not warrant the “corporate death penalty” that Attorney General Letitia James had sought. The judge also raised concerns that shutting down the NRA could impinge the free speech and assembly rights of its millions of members.

AP & Martinez: Texas judge blocks child services investigation into parents of a 16-year-old trans girl for giving her puberty blocking drugs after Governor Abbott ordered probes
On Wednesday District Judge Amy Clark Meachum issued a temporary order halting the investigation by the Department of Family and Protective Services into the parents of a 16-year-old girl undergoing gender-confirmation treatments but stopped short of preventing the state from looking into other reports about children receiving similar care. The parents sued over the investigation after Abbott’s ordered that officials from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services look into reports of procedures for transgender youth such as hormone therapy as child abuse. The directive came just one day after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who like Abbott, is also a Republican, issued an opinion finding that such procedures are child abuse under existing Texas law.

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot alleged in a court filing Wednesday that former President Donald Trump participated in a “criminal conspiracy” related to the 2020 election as it sought to pierce his attorney-client privilege. The committee alleged that the former president and his campaign attempted to illegally obstruct Congress’ certification of electoral votes. “The Select Committee also has a good-faith basis for concluding that the President and members of his Campaign engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States,” the panel wrote in a brief that was filed in opposition to Trump attorney John Eastman’s claims of claims of attorney-client privilege. The committee also said that Trump “may have” been involved in other criminal acts as well with Eastman offering legal assistance.

Mittlestadt: D.C. braces for trucker convoys expected this weekend, as Pentagon deploys National Guard
One of the largest convoys, “The People’s Convoy,” started in Adelanto, Calif., on Feb. 23, and is planning on arriving in the D.C. area on Saturday. On Wednesday, the convoy was estimated to have grown to about 1,100 vehicles, according to WePatriot, which provides regular updates on the convoy through contacts with many of the organizers. As of Tuesday, The People’s Convoy website reported over $1.5 million donated to the caravan. Non-financial donations are also being accepted. In Fredericksburg, Va., a restaurant owner is collecting food donations for the convoy. […]  On Tuesday a mile-long convoy was leaving Illinois and Wisconsin to join The People’s Convoy, according to the site. Another convoy, called “American Freedom Convoy,” leaves from Tennessee following a rally on Thursday to head to the area of the nation’s capital. The “Convoy To Save America” will join with the American Freedom Convoy after leaving Tennessee on Friday to arrive on the Virginia side of the D.C. Beltway on Saturday. Earlier today, the special counsel provided a second interim report to the state legislative body, noting the report “is final in the sense that it provides a list of recommendations with time for the Legislature to act before the close of its session in March.” […]  According to the report, Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg providing financing that allowed the Center for Tech and Civic Life to offer nearly $9 million in “Zuck Bucks” to Milwaukee, Madison, Racine, Kenosha and Green Bay counties. In exchange, the “Zuckerberg 5,” as the report called the counties, in effect, operated Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts. While Russia wages a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. Army is putting its soldiers through training on gender pronouns and coaching officers on when to offer soldiers gender transition surgery, according to an official military presentation on the subject obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
The mandatory presentation, “Policy on the Military Service of Transgender Persons and Persons with Gender Dysphoria,” was given to officers earlier this month along with instructions for them to train their subordinates on the material. Portions of the presentation were provided to the Free Beacon by a whistleblower who was ordered to undergo the training as a high-ranking officer in the Army Special Forces.

Everything including oil, natural gas, wheat, and fertilizer is skyrocketing in price right now.  Ten- and twenty-year records are being eclipsed, as energy prices are soaring on the back of oil flirting with $114 a barrel.  Unfortunately, here comes more inflationary pain, and everything is being blamed on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Toward the end of last year, we warned that fertilizer costs were going to harvest costs in 2022 (field to fork, go deep), long before Ukraine came into the picture.  Unfortunately, future wheat prices reached $10.59 a bushel today, the highest since March 2008.  Additionally, corn prices have passed their highest rate since December 2012. It may seem like those crops are not that important.  However, keep in mind that corn, wheat and soybeans represent the baseline for not only grain production in the U.S, but they are also the primary feed products for proteins: chicken, pork and beef.  We are going to feel this second wave surge at the grocery store.  Hopefully everyone has prepped. Greenfield: ‘Afghan Adjustment Act’ Would Legalize 36,000 Unvetted Afghans
A proposed Afghan Adjustment Act would grant the Afghan migrants, at least 36,000 of them, permanent legal residency and put them on a pathway to demanding citizenship. Tens of thousands of Afghans have been turned loose on “humanitarian parole” for two years, which gives the refugee resettlement organizations handling their cases plenty of time to figure out some basis for applying for a more permanent asylum, but they don’t want to follow the law. Why not? Despite the virtual lack of vetting, hundreds of the Afghan migrants are being flagged as security risks. 50 believed to be security risks were already released in this country and the majority of them are in the wind. Four have already been involved in sexual assault cases. Considering how much the Afghans have misbehaved in so little time, the refugee resettlement contractors are understandably worried that much more damaging information will come out after two years. […]  Refugee resettlers like the Church World Service and HIAS, as well as umbrella groups like the Refugee Council, which also includes Islamic Relief USA, Amnesty International, the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, OXFAM, and other players in the same racket, are pressuring congress to legalize all the Afghans now while asking questions later. Or never. nd the first question is who are the Afghan migrants and why can’t we wait to find that out?
