Anderson: A BLM Bail Fund Is Freeing Heinous Criminals in Kentucky. Now, the GOP Has a Plan To Stop It.
In Kentucky, a Black Lives Matter bail fund has paid to release violent rapists, murderers, and even a would-be political assassin. Now, Republicans in the state are moving to rein in the practice. Kentucky legislators Jason Nemes and John Blanton are behind the effort. The Republicans are pushing two bills that would forbid bail funds from paying to release certain arrestees and allow judges to deny bail for particularly heinous criminals. The move comes just days after a Louisville bail fund paid $100,000 to free Quintez Brown, a prominent liberal activist who is charged with attempting to murder Jewish Democratic mayoral hopeful Craig Greenberg in his campaign office. Under Kentucky law, judges are barred from denying bail in all cases other than capital murder. As a result, even heinous repeat offenders who pose a significant risk to their communities can secure their release from prison if they procure enough cash. In the past, that fundraising burden would typically fall on the offender and his or her family and friends. The recent explosion of groups such as the Louisville Community Bail Fund, however, has turned the state’s bail process on its head.

Daley: Supreme Court Could Upend This Controversial Biden Administration Immigration Policy
The Supreme Court on Friday announced that it will decide on the Biden administration’s bid to rescind the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy for asylum seekers. The justices said in a Friday afternoon order that they will hear arguments in April on whether the federal government has given sufficient justification for terminating the program, as required by federal law. Two red states challenged the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to terminate the policy in June 2021 and prevailed before a trial judge and a federal appeals court. President Joe Biden is pushing to repeal Remain in Mexico while he finalizes a policy that will make it easier for migrants who collect public benefits to get green cards. Both moves have been praised by open-borders advocates.

President Joe Biden said the U.S. national emergency that was declared in early 2020 due to COVID-19 will be extended beyond March 1, citing what he called a “risk to the public health and safety.” In a letter released on the White House website, Biden told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that “there remains a need to continue this national emergency.”  His decision to extend the emergency comes as several Democratic governors moved to rescind COVID-19 mandates, including mask rules, in recent days. The governors of New York and Massachusetts announced last week that they would end certain mask mandates in their states, following similar moves by New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Delaware, and Oregon.

A federal report released in early February documents that Mexico is now the “dominant source” of the country’s fentanyl supply and synthetic opioids. While fentanyl is trafficked primarily across the U.S.-Mexico border, Mexican cartels are also increasingly using the U.S. Postal Service. About 90 percent of illicit drugs entering the United States are either produced or trafficked through Mexico.

Greenfield: The Left Goes Full Orwell
In George Orwell’s 1984, the Ministry of Truth is decorated with party slogans that include, “Freedom is Slavery” and “Ignorance is Strength.” The organization was based on the actual British Ministry of Information which Orwell had a great deal of experience with while working for the wartime BBC even while his wife worked for the Ministry’s censorship division. Orwell would not have been in the least surprised by state media trotting out an academic who regularly appears on state media (including that of totalitarian nations such as Qatar) to explain that freedom is really a very naughty thing even as the state crushes a “Freedom Convoy” using emergency powers that were meant to deal with wartime emergencies, not peaceful protests. But “Freedom is Slavery” propaganda has become extremely ubiquitous on the Left. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau argued that by using the Emergencies Act to suppress protests, he was actually doing what is “necessary to reinforce the principles, values, and institutions that keep all Canadians free.”  Taking away the freedom to protest against his regime was actually keeping all Canadians free. 1984’s version of the same logic was a good deal pithier. Long before the Freedom Convoy, media in this country had begun vocally insisting that Gov. Ron DeSantis was an “authoritarian” for refusing to impose onerous regulations on Floridians. “Ron DeSantis is creating a paradise of authoritarianism,” a Washington Post column argued. […]  “The real threat to civil liberties comes from states banning vaccine and mask mandates,” the ACLU claimed in a New York Times op-ed. […]  Parental involvement in schools, like protesting against vaccine mandates, is a form of terrorism and requires the ruthless use of force to suppress those folks who still believe in freedom.

Back in September 2021, Joe Biden reassured Americans that the Afghan refugees whom he was bringing into the United States would be as benign and harmless as Aunt Harriet. Old Joe’s crack team (no, not Hunter) of experts would make sure of that by “conducting thorough scrutiny — security screenings for everyone who is not a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.” Well, here’s a shocker: Biden, one of the world’s least trustworthy human beings, lied again: Not only were most of the refugees not vetted at all, but on Thursday it came to light that at least fifty Afghan refugees with “potentially significant security concerns” were admitted to the United States with no problem, and are here now. Ecclesiasticus 34:22 reads, “He who takes away his neighbor’s living slays him; and he who defrauds the laborer of his hire is a bloodshedder.” Biden’s cavalier attitude toward the loss of American jobs must be judged according to the biblical standard.  The elimination of hundreds of thousands of jobs is a serious matter, and its effects are indeed bloody.  Deprived of their jobs and their self-respect, workers are without support and purpose, and it’s likely that many will come to harm. The most recent weekly jobless claims were higher than expected, and consumer confidence fell 11.3% to the lowest level since February.  A Forbes columnist predicts recession by early 2022, with some believing we have already entered recession.  One industry has been especially hard hit, and not because of the normal business cycle.  The decline in the oil and gas industry is almost entirely Joe Biden’s fault, and instead of apologizing for it, he brags about it.  The long-held dream of the left is to force energy prices high enough that consumers will turn to wind and solar.  With gas prices heading toward five dollars a gallon, electric cars may seem more attractive.

Two sets of forensic linguists have published two separate papers using two different techniques to conclude that Q appears to be two people: South African tech journalist Paul Furber, 55, and 4chan internet message board moderator and computer entrepreneur Ron Watkins, 34, according to the studies. ‘While relying on two completely different technologies, both stylometric [quantitative study of literary style] analyses could establish that QAnon‘s early period on the 4chan forum, from October to December 2017, was likely the result of a collaboration between Paul Furber and Ron Watkins,’ according to Claude-Alain Roten, the CEO of OrphAnalytics.

A climate scientist who formerly worked in the Clinton administration admitted to Joe Rogan that he was unwillling to debate scientists who disagreed with him about climate change. Andrew Dessler, professor of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University has appeared on MSNBC and CNBC to promote the left’s views on man-made climate change. But the climatologist told Rogan on a February 16 episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience”, that there was no debate on “the fact” of climate change. During the interview, Rogan asked his guest if he had ever “debated anyone” over climate change. Dessler stated he did debate a climate skeptic, scientist Richard Lindzen over a decade ago, but it was “terrible” and he vowed he would never do it again. “My feeling is that I won’t debate the science. So the science is set,” he stated. “The temperature is warming, humans have caused it.”

Trudeau—or, as the great Sarah Hoyt denominates him, “Trudescu” or “Castreau”—initially responded to Canada’s “Revolt of the Masses,” a.k.a. the truckers’ Freedom Convoy, by skedaddling out of town and cowering in some presumably secure and definitely unidentified place. A couple of days later, Trudeau popped his head up over the top of the fox hole and nothing happened. So he climbed out, shook his soft and tiny fists, and plumped his hairdo. “I’m in charge here,” he shouted, and the truckers nodded and kept dancing and singing their songs about peace, love, and freedom. They also kept blocking little Justin’s roadways. This made him very angry.
