NOTABLE QUOTES

President Joe Biden in a meeting with the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday:“There’s always a renewed national debate every time a president nominates a justice because the Constitution is always evolving slightly in terms of additional rights or curtailing rights, etcetera. And that’s always an issue.”

Christopher Wray FBI speaking on Monday about the treat to America that China poses:    I’ve spoken a lot about this threat since I became FBI director. But I want to focus on it here tonight because in many ways it’s reached a new level — more brazen, more damaging than ever before, and it’s vital, vital, that all of us focus on that threat together.

Andrew Stiles contributor to Washington Free Beacon: Russian forces are poised to invade Ukraine unless the United States and NATO cave to Vladimir Putin’s demands. The Biden administration and the Western military alliance have no plans to mount a meaningful response to Russia’s unprovoked aggression, but they have gone to great lengths to ensure their symbolic expression of outrage will be as “gender inclusive” as possible. The NATO Gender-Inclusive Language Manual, published in April 2020, offers crucial guidance for Western military officials regarding the use of “communication as a basis for advancing gender equality.”

Ray DiLorenzo contributor to Canada Free Press: The coming year, 2022, will be a pivotal year. What is gathered against us is so monumental, so hideous, so grotesque as to make all other previous forces amassed against Western Civilization throughout history rendered insignificant in comparison.  It will be a year of destiny, deciding our fate, the year of the possibility of not going back. Before we anticipate with glee the coming midterm elections, we need to seriously consider whether the Democrats will allow any election that they cannot win. I do not believe there will be a 2022 election. There are plans to make sure it does not happen. The opposition has no plan or intention to give up what they have stolen. They will release new Covid variants, even a new virus, declare another national emergency, lock it down, cancel any balloting. Would they do such a thing? Absolutely! ‘All for the common good.’

Clayton Fox contributor to American Greatness: Dr. Miguel Sierra-Hoffman, an associate professor of infectious disease at Baylor Scott & White Hospital and of pulmonary medicine at Texas A&M University, who has overseen the care of thousands of COVID patients at multiple hospitals, remains convinced that the embrace of outpatient treatments early on would have been a difference maker—and an economical one. “If we had given people aspirin, ivermectin, colchicine, and if they get complicated, a little dexamethasone, we could have saved the world with one dollar.”

Rudolph Rigger physicist and Substack blogger: One of the saddest things for me, personally, has been my almost complete erosion of trust in various institutions over the last couple of years. It would be a fair criticism to say I’ve been largely encapsulated in a bubble of misplaced innocence and naivety for too long. But the astonishing chasm between government, media and health messaging and the data has been too stark, too perplexing, to ignore. Perhaps saddest of all has been my erosion of trust in the medical profession overall.

Ted Noel contributor to American Thinker: As Chair of the COVID response committee within the White House, Pence politely listened to Deborah Birx and Anthony Fauci simply declare that some particular action should be taken. Dr. Atlas would then present a stack of studies showing that the proposed plan was exactly the wrong thing to do. The VP would then thank everyone and follow the completely unscientific plans of Fauci and Birx.

Matthew Vadum contributor to Frontpage Magazine exposes another  woke profession:The most recent case in point is the profession of pharmacy, whose practitioners have traditionally dispensed healing medicines. Now they are expected to dispense social justice.

The Minnesota Dept. of Health’s “Kids Deserve a Shot” program: “The Minnesota Department of Health (‘MDH’) is collecting information from you about your child and their receipt of the COVID-19 vaccine so you can register your child for a $200 Visa Gift Card vaccine reward. our child’s information is private data under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act. MDH will use the information you provide to verify your child’s eligibility for the reward and to send a gift card, as supplies allow. You are not legally required to provide your child’s information, but if you do not provide the required information (shown by a ‘*’ symbol next to those items), your child will not be able to receive a gift card,” the Department of Health website states.

Emilie Kao of Alliance Defending Freedom: Parents should be aware that when some schools say they are celebrating Black History Month, they are actually using it to advocate for the destruction of the nuclear family, and to advance the political goals of the Black Lives Matter organization.

ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE

Noel: Why Donald Trump Should NOT Be the Republican Nominee
Before you throw a MAGA hat or a Let’s Go Brandon flag at me, let me make one thing perfectly clear. I voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020. If he is the nominee in 2024, I’ll vote for him again. But when we consider him in the context of the next election, we must employ the retrospectoscope, as I did months ago. After all, hindsight is 20/20. And, as Santayana said, “He who does not learn from history is doomed to repeat it.” Donald Trump promised to Drain the Swamp. Instead, he drowned in the Swamp. While he got a lot done, he thought that hiring “experts” and trimming around the edges would be enough. Instead, the ooze flowed in from every direction, stifling every attempt to actually get big things done. Trump was even sabotaged by those closest to him. 45 was properly upset when VP Pence announced that his role on January 6 was merely ceremonial. Yet he had my analysis of the Constitution passed on to him by Trump attorney Jenna Ellis, which would have had him properly pass the election back to six contested states for their Legislatures to review. This was bolstered by an opinion letter from a past Inspector General of the Department of Defense (who happened to quote my AT piece). Yet Pence stabbed the President in the back without so much as a “by your leave.” […]  The Donald is simply too trusting, and it bit him in the unmentionables. Rather than a competent business manager, we need an assassin in the White House. You simply cannot be polite when the task at hand calls for explosives rather than scalpels. I’ve stated before that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis should be our candidate, and I am still of that opinion. Florida has its own Swamp (not the Everglades!), and DeSantis has proven himself adept at navigating it. Cato ranks Florida as “#2 overall” in freedom in the US, and hundreds of thousands of refugees from socialism come here every year, turning Florida red. Regardless of the candidate, it’s necessary to cut off the head of the snake. Without that, all is lost. In the White House, the first task must be . . .

Fox News: Biden’s intimidation campaign against Americans is tracking gun owners

Rep. Michael Cloud tells Laura Ingraham that you hear an agency saying there’s nothing to see here, maybe that is where we should be looking. When does the data base become a registry?

Gelernter: The Backdoor Gun Ban
Last year, the Biden Administration banned the further import of Russian-made ammunition into the United States. After a subdued press release, which announced the ban was punishment for Russia’s poisoning of the anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny on a flight from Tomsk to Moscow, the entire issue was shelved. Today, no one in the administration is touting the success of this initiative in getting Russia to behave itself. Which is bizarre, given Russia’s excellent behavior since then. In reality, the Russian ammo embargo is a sanction on Americans, not Russians, and it is working exactly as intended. It was necessary because banning guns, a consistent objective of our government over the last 100 years, has proven extremely difficult. […]  If you make cigarettes more expensive, people will smoke less. If you make gasoline more expensive, people will drive less. And if you make ammunition more expensive, people will shoot less. It doesn’t matter how many guns you have if you can’t get bullets. […]  Americans might turn to hand-loading their own ammunition, only to find that the raw components aren’t available. Only four American companies, three owned by the same holding group, manufacture primers domestically.

GOP

Solomon: RNC members push resolution to expel Cheney, Kinzinger from House GOP conference
A Republican National Committee member and former Trump adviser is asking the party to vote Thursday on a resolution demanding that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy expel Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger from the House GOP conference for their participation on the Democrats’ Jan. 6 investigation committee. […]  . . . the draft resolution submitted by former Trump adviser David Bossie, an RNC committeeman from Maryland, seeks to deepen their isolation by having the group formally request their ouster from the House Republican Conference. The resolution would be considered Thursday at the RNC’s annual winter meeting in Salt Lake City. “The Conference must not be sabotaged by Rep. Liz Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger who have demonstrated, with actions and words, that they support Democrat efforts to destroy President Trump more than they support winning back a Republican majority in 2023,” reads the draft resolution obtained by Just the News. The resolution argues . . .

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING FOREIGN POLICY

Greenfield: Biden Admin Only Told Staff to Evacuate As Taliban Took Kabul
How badly did the Biden administration mishandle the Afghanistan debacle? Hours before the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan’s capital on Aug. 15, 2021, senior Biden administration officials were still discussing and assigning basic actions involved in a mass civilian evacuation.Outsiders were frustrated and suspicious the administration was having plenty of meetings but was stuck in bureaucratic inertia and lacked urgency until the last minute.

Goodenough: Menendez: Early Concerns About Iran Nuclear Deal ‘Are Coming Back to Haunt Us’
Foreign Relations Committee chairman Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) said on Tuesday night that many of the concerns he aired in 2015 about the Iran nuclear deal were “coming back to haunt us in the year 2022,” and called for a new push to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear weapons state. Menendez said he had been “cautiously optimistic” about the Biden administration’s diplomatic efforts, but one year later, he has yet to hear what the parameters are of a “longer” and “stronger” deal which the administration said it would pursue – “or whether that’s even a feasible prospect.” […]  In an hour-long speech on the Senate floor, Menendez, one of just four Senate Democrats to oppose the Obama administration’s deal in 2015, reexamined some of the concerns he raised at the time.

Pavlich: The tattered mission of Border Patrol
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the mission of the force is to, “Protect the American people, safeguard our borders, and enhance the nation’s economic prosperity.” Further, the core values include a dedication to “defending and upholding the Constitution of the United States.” Integrity is touted as the “cornerstone” of the work agents do, guided “by the highest ethical and moral principles” bringing “honor to ourselves and our agency.” But since President Biden took office in January 2021, the unofficial mission of Border Patrol has shifted to processing millions of illegal immigrants. This takes important time away from essential frontline patrols and drug interdictions. As a consequence, Border Patrol has become detached from its stated mission and priorities.

Berrien: Biden Willing To Discuss Giving Russia Access To Sensitive Information At NATO Bases: Report
President Biden, apparently eager to placate Russian President Vladimir Putin, has informed the Russian government that he would be willing to discuss giving Putin access to sensitive NATO information at missile-defense bases in Romania and Poland. According to Bloomberg, Biden would let Putin confirm there are no offensive Tomahawk cruise missiles stationed at those bases. Putin stated on Tuesday to reporters, “There are anti-missile launchers in Poland and Romania, there are MK-41 launchers there, on which you can place Tomahawks, which is already not missile defense but offensive weapons systems, which will cover our territory for thousands of kilometers. Is this not a threat to us?”

THE APPLE DOESN’T FALL FROM THE TREE

Boswell: EXCLUSIVE: Smoking gun documents tie Nancy Pelosi’s son to fraud and bribery scheme to remove permit violations against squalid San Francisco flop house owned by his ex-girlfriend and probed by the FBI
Nancy Pelosi‘s son listed himself as the owner of a flop house tied to a fraud and bribery scheme prosecuted by the FBI, in documents newly unearthed by DailyMail.com. In the documents, Paul Pelosi Jr. signed statements that hewas the property owner, ‘the party legally and financially responsible for this proposed construction activity’ and agreed to ‘abide by all applicable laws and requirements that govern Owner-Builders as well as employers.’ And they even show Pelosi Jr., 53, applying for one of the very same permits that building inspector Bernie Curran and ‘permits expeditor’ Rodrigo Santos have been indicted for. […]  The Department of Building Inspection (DBI) form, signed by Pelosi Jr. and dated December 7, 2017, is a ‘smoking gun’ that evidences the House Speaker’s son’s close links to the high-profile public corruption criminal case. Curran and Santos are due in federal court in San Francisco this week.

Solomon: Classified State Department email declared Hunter Biden ‘undercut’ U.S. efforts in Ukraine
In an email kept from public view for more than five years, a top U.S. State Department official in Kiev wrote to Washington superiors at the end of the Obama-Biden administration that Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine “undercut” U.S. efforts to fight corruption in the former Soviet republic. The email, obtained by Just the News, was written on Nov. 22, 2016 by former U.S. embassy official George Kent, one of the Democrats’ star witnesses in their first effort to impeach former President Donald Trump. It was classified “confidential,” the lowest level of secrecy, by then-U.S. Ambassador to Kiev Marie Yovanovitch, another of the Democrats’ impeachment witnesses, and was not produced as evidence to House lawmakers during impeachment. Contrary to federal law, the State Department failed to acknowledge the existence of the document to the court or to Just the News in its multiple Freedom of Information Act lawsuits against the State Department seeking records on Hunter and Joe Biden’s dealings in Ukraine. Most importantly, the email’s stark message . . .

SAGE ADVICE

Pullmann: Young Americans: Leave Those Creepy College Covid Camps And Start Your Careers Now
I do think there are major problems in our country that are not likely to get seriously addressed in the near future. I do think they matter, and that because of rampant terrible American leadership (and acquiescence to such leadership by the people), millions will continue to suffer. Yet I also think there are lots of amazing opportunities happening right now that people need to awake to and seize. To seize these opportunities, Americans must break out of societal conventions, ways of thinking, and life scripts that clearly don’t work any more but feel comfortable and without viable alternatives. The people who are willing to take such risks to make fresh choices that fit our new reality will overall be handsomely rewarded. That brings us to college. The “everyone should go to college” mantra is brittle, false, failing, and harmful. Deep down, we all know it, and we’ve known it for a long time. Those promised returns to income from starting life in deep debt are simply not materializing like they used to. That Boomer windfall is long gone, if it ever existed in the first place. But lots of young people and their parents don’t know their other options, or they know about them but are scared of the social pressure to live by failed narratives. Other great options are in fact plentiful, and partly because of our societal decline. Pertinent to the college discussion is the desperation of employers to find talent and their motivation to train that talent. It has never been higher in my lifetime (I’m “in the middle of our life’s journey” as an older millennial) and in the lifetimes of most working-age people today.
