NOTABLE QUOTES

V.P Kamala Harris one of the most ardent promoters of abortion said the following: Hey, everybody. I got my second shot today. The booster, the vaccine—and it was painless. And it’s simple, it takes a minute, and not even a minute, it takes seconds—and it’ll save your life. And it’ll save your family’s life. And it will help save lives in your community and in our country. So when we talk about what we need to do to value life, when we talk about what we need to do in terms of the dignity of life, and what we know is that this vaccine is going to make a difference on that.

Trevor Thomas contributor to American Thinker wrote: When a generation lives in fear or dread of some looming crisis or when a society is made to believe that someone else can provide the things that it supposedly cannot live without, is this not the opportunity for those who seek to rule over us to be seen as liberators rather than the totalitarian tyrants they are?

David Horowitz founder of the David Horowitz Freedom Center a conservative think tank wrote: It’s not difficult to imagine how a rapidly deteriorating human being – and lifetime politician – would sign on to Biden’s Executive Orders and expose himself as a despicable, untrustworthy, dangerous leader in his first week in office. But how did his handlers collude in this? How did the entire Democrat Party contrive to orchestrate the selection and protection and election of this empty shell of a man already burdened with a 47-year history of lying and corruption in public office? This surely amounts to the gravest crime the Democrat Party has committed since the Civil War: to inflict such a devious and damaged human relic onto Americans as their commander-in-chief.

Christopher Chantrill contributor to American Thinker wrote: Obviously, the only way we will ever reform today’s government — the backed-up sewer of a century of educated-ruling-class vote-buying — is through a massive smashup. And if you ask me, the Biden agenda brings that date forward.

Sally Zelikovsky contributor to Frontpage Magazine wrote: In contemporary America, where the walls are closing in on the individual—obliterating traditional notions of freedom—we find ourselves crossing the threshold into an American-style gulag, where the fortifications that have shored up a centuries-long quest for a more perfect union, are beginning to buckle.

Robert Spencer contributor to PJMedia wrote: We are truly blessed to live in the age of masterful constitutional scholars such as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, who have taken a magnificently wrought system for guaranteeing both stable government and personal freedom and turned it into a sick joke and a cruel instrument of partisan vengeance.

Jeff Minick contributor to Intellectual Takeout received this e-mail from a librarian: I was a public school Librarian for 26 years. I blame myself and the American Library association for throwing away the old books. We were taught in library school that it was bad to have a collection older than x years (depended on [the] subject). So we threw out the old books and replaced them [with] teen angst, near porn, cataclysmic nuclear war and now drag queens reading LGBTQQRSTUV literature at story time. I apologize to you and all bibliophiles. We didn’t burn them we just threw them away because ‘the standards’ told us to.

PRESIDENT TRUMP

Marcus: Why Trump Should Press His Case On Voter Fraud
On all three counts, Trump has very reasonable arguments to make. And given that so many in the media have already made up their mind that he is obviously guilty, he would have a very low bar to cast doubt on that guilt. So let’s look at each defense on its own. The constitutional question of whether you can convict a former president in the Senate appears to be a legal 50-50 ball. There are experts on each side of the question. Both make reasonable if contradictory arguments, and neither can really claim certainty. This makes it an easy out for Republican senators, and it’s why they don’t want to look any further. As far as the question of incitement, . . . […] Finally comes the most controversial potential defense: that there really was massive voter fraud. To many this seems like a Kamikaze defense, but it might not be.

Root: The Trump Comeback Begins: The Plan to Make Trump and America Great Again
I am the author of the bestselling book “TRUMP RULES.” My book identifies the top 10 rules that made former President Donald Trump one of the greatest winners in world history in business, branding, real estate, celebrity, television, publishing and politics. Trump is the only person in world history to reach the pinnacle of all of those fields. And the only person to become both a billionaire and president of the United States. It’s not a bad resume. Many critics think Trump’s winning streak ended with a presidential loss. I disagree. I know the man. I understand the man. I know what comes next. It may be Trump’s greatest chapter yet. […] Here’s my game plan for how Trump can make Trump and America great again.

CHINA: AMERICA’S MORTAL ENEMY

Preston: Chinese Firm Shandong Xinchao Expands Its Foothold in Texas’ Oil-Rich Permian Basin
On Sunday, China’s Shandong Xinchao announced its decision to shell out $420 million to purchase oil-producing acreage from Grenadier Energy in the Texas Permian Basin. Or rather, Surge Energy of Houston made the announcement via PR Newswire. […] Read the entire release and you’ll not see the words “Shandong Xinchao” in it. But Surge is that company’s creation and wholly owned subsidiary. That’s disclosed on Surge’s corporate website. […] Since its creation in 2015, Surge Energy has continued to grow its in the Permian Basin. Before the COVID pandemic destroyed demand, ravaged the oil industry, and sent several producers into bankruptcy — and before this deal with Grenadier — Surge was already one of the top oil producers in Texas. After the Grenadier deal Surge Energy, aka Shandong Xinchao, will control about 111,000 acres of oil-producing land in Texas.

Maitra: Arming Taiwan Against China Is A Smarter Strategy Than Sending U.S. Troops
That brings us to the biggest foreign policy question, which the Biden administration is likely not yet ready to face. What happens the day after China launches an invasion of Taiwan? So far, the Biden administration’s reaction has signaled rhetorical continuity with the Trump era. American foreign policy wonks, despite all divisions, are bipartisan about the China threat. One might not hear it much in public, but despite being divided between realists who prefer a narrower national interest-based approach, and liberals and neoconservatives who prefer interventions and democracy promotion, foreign policy circles so far are united in their threat appraisal of the rise of China as the largest threat facing the United States. […] President Biden shouldn’t make empty promises. The strategy should be about bleeding China if they overstretch, rather than committing American lives to a potentially attritional war.

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME

Boose: Welcome to Soviet America
Biden’s fake campaign is now succeeded by a fake presidency. If it appears he is governing with malice and neglect, that’s by design. In more ways than one, America is starting to resemble the old Soviet Union. Our nation’s capital is a military garrison. The American Pravda are howling for dekulakization. The hapless losers of the 2020 election must be “deprogrammed,” they insist, and a tenuous bugaboo of “domestic terrorism” must be crushed. […] A reasonable person could only describe what Biden has done so far as abusive. His agenda will introduce massive disruption to the lives of ordinary people and the things that give order, stability, and meaning to their lives. Rights and freedoms will come under attack as never before. How to justify all this? Well, it’s simple. The American people don’t deserve anything. Why? Because they’re racist, of course. Well, some of them are. Some people belong here; others don’t.
Citizenship no longer means anything. To be counted as American depends on having the right opinions and belonging to the right identity groups, not on loyalty to the Constitution and this land, but to the Party, its social engineering, and the novel society it seeks to bring to life.

Zelikovsky: Welcome to the American Gulag
Reagan’s demand that Gorbachev tear down the Berlin Wall imprisoning millions of East Berliners, was actually a metaphor for dismantling the “walls” around political, cultural and religious expression that held millions captive in satellite states obedient to the Soviet Empire. So too with the gulag. […] In contemporary America, where the walls are closing in on the individual—obliterating traditional notions of freedom—we find ourselves crossing the threshold into an American-style gulag, where the fortifications that have shored up a centuries-long quest for a more perfect union, are beginning to buckle. Although the constriction of our liberties on the road to socialism accelerated at warp speed with COVID, the George Floyd riots, and now the election of Biden-Harris, it didn’t happen overnight. America’s political journey has been riddled with progressive inroads: Wilson’s expansion of the administrative state, Roosevelt’s New Deal, LBJ’s Great Society, ObamaCare, onerous taxes and regulations, judicial activism, and Democrat legislation increasing the power of the federal government. […] With Biden’s election and a Democrat-controlled Senate, the malignant “Woke-Cancel Culture” has fully metastasized into our body politic. Talk of purges and persecution are commonplace. Journalists, politicians, activists and rank-and-file Democrats demand the country be cleansed of all things Trump. Those who served in his administration or supported him must be blacklisted from future employment. The children of Trump voters must be deprogrammed. Conservatives must be put in re-education camps and deradicalized. Wannabees of Pavlik Morozov, the child hero who betrayed his family to Soviet authorities, scan social media for anti-woke transgressions to use against family, neighbor, and classmate.

PROGRESSIVISM

VDH: Why Are Progressives So Illiberal?
One common theme in the abject madness and tragedies of the past 12 months is that progressive ideology now permeates almost all of our major institutions—even as the majority of Americans resist the leftist agenda. Its reach resembles the manner in which the pre-Renaissance church had absorbed the economic, cultural, social, artistic, and political life of Europe, or perhaps how Islamic doctrine was the foundation for all public and private life under the Ottoman Sultanate—or even how all Russian institutions of the 1930s exuded tenets of Soviet Marxism. To be a Silicon Valley executive, a prominent Wall Street player, the head of a prestigious publishing house, a university president, a network or PBS anchor, a major Hollywood actress, a retired general or admiral on a corporate board, or a NBA superstar requires either progressive fides or careful suppression of all political affinities.

Salyer: George Orwell On Populism, Patriotism, & Veiled Censorship
Christians can respect George Orwell even if we cannot fully claim him. But “woke” progressives have no logical choice but to repudiate the secular liberal icon altogether for his skepticism toward egalitarianism, globalism, and political correctness. […] Orwell agrees with most mainstream commentators, who say that patriotism is good and nationalism bad. But what Orwell condemns as nationalism is precisely that which is now celebrated, especially by those neoconservatives and neoliberals seeking to impose global democratic revolution—i.e., globalism—throughout the world. Likewise, the simple, protective devotion toward home which Orwell commends as patriotism is precisely what gets condemned as small-minded, xenophobic, and isolationist by CNN anchors and establishment conservatives alike. The difference is that Orwell sees patriotism as “defensive” on behalf of a particular culture, a “particular way of life,” while the invasive ideological project he identifies with nationalism need not have anything to do with the nationalist’s own nationality at all. The “other unit” into which the nationalist “has chosen to sink his own individuality” could just as easily be the Communist Party, Black Lives Matter, or a migrant population.

TAKE ACTION

The Prickly Pear’s TAKE ACTION focus this year is to help achieve a winning 2024 national and state November 5th election with the removal of the Biden/Obama leftist executive branch disaster, win one U.S. Senate seat, maintain and win strong majorities in all Arizona state offices on the ballot and to insure that unrestricted abortion is not constitutionally embedded in our laws and culture.
