Or rather, Surge Energy of Houston made the announcement via PR Newswire. […] Read the entire release and you’ll not see the words “Shandong Xinchao” in it. But Surge is that company’s creation and wholly owned subsidiary. That’s disclosed on Surge’s corporate website. […] Since its creation in 2015, Surge Energy has continued to grow its in the Permian Basin. Before the COVID pandemic destroyed demand, ravaged the oil industry, and sent several producers into bankruptcy — and before this deal with Grenadier — Surge was already one of the top oil producers in Texas. After the Grenadier deal Surge Energy, aka Shandong Xinchao, will control about 111,000 acres of oil-producing land in Texas.

Biden’s fake campaign is now succeeded by a fake presidency. If it appears he is governing with malice and neglect, that’s by design. In more ways than one, America is starting to resemble the old Soviet Union. Our nation’s capital is a military garrison. The American Pravda are howling for dekulakization. The hapless losers of the 2020 election must be “deprogrammed,” they insist, and a tenuous bugaboo of “domestic terrorism” must be crushed. […] A reasonable person could only describe what Biden has done so far as abusive. His agenda will introduce massive disruption to the lives of ordinary people and the things that give order, stability, and meaning to their lives. Rights and freedoms will come under attack as never before. How to justify all this? Well, it’s simple. The American people don’t deserve anything. Why? Because they’re racist, of course. Well, some of them are. Some people belong here; others don’t.

America’s political journey has been riddled with progressive inroads: Wilson’s expansion of the administrative state, Roosevelt’s New Deal, LBJ’s Great Society, ObamaCare, onerous taxes and regulations, judicial activism, and Democrat legislation increasing the power of the federal government. […] With Biden’s election and a Democrat-controlled Senate, the malignant “Woke-Cancel Culture” has fully metastasized into our body politic. Talk of purges and persecution are commonplace. One common theme in the abject madness and tragedies of the past 12 months is that progressive ideology now permeates almost all of our major institutions—even as the majority of Americans resist the leftist agenda. Its reach resembles the manner in which the pre-Renaissance church had absorbed the economic, cultural, social, artistic, and political life of Europe, or perhaps how Islamic doctrine was the foundation for all public and private life under the Ottoman Sultanate—or even how all Russian institutions of the 1930s exuded tenets of Soviet Marxism. To be a Silicon Valley executive, a prominent Wall Street player, the head of a prestigious publishing house, a university president, a network or PBS anchor, a major Hollywood actress, a retired general or admiral on a corporate board, or a NBA superstar requires either progressive fides or careful suppression of all political affinities.

Salyer: George Orwell On Populism, Patriotism, & Veiled Censorship
Christians can respect George Orwell even if we cannot fully claim him. But “woke” progressives have no logical choice but to repudiate the secular liberal icon altogether for his skepticism toward egalitarianism, globalism, and political correctness. […] Orwell agrees with most mainstream commentators, who say that patriotism is good and nationalism bad. But what Orwell condemns as nationalism is precisely that which is now celebrated, especially by those neoconservatives and neoliberals seeking to impose global democratic revolution—i.e., globalism—throughout the world. Likewise, the simple, protective devotion toward home which Orwell commends as patriotism is precisely what gets condemned as small-minded, xenophobic, and isolationist by CNN anchors and establishment conservatives alike. The difference is that Orwell sees patriotism as “defensive” on behalf of a particular culture, a “particular way of life,” while the invasive ideological project he identifies with nationalism need not have anything to do with the nationalist’s own nationality at all. The “other unit” into which the nationalist “has chosen to sink his own individuality” could just as easily be the Communist Party, Black Lives Matter, or a migrant population.
