Pat Eaton-Robb of Associated Press reports Biden administration’s push to have children ages 5 to 11 vaccinated for COVID-19: The Biden administration plans to send a letter to U.S. elementary schools in the next week asking them to host clinics. The Education Department is also urging schools to host town halls and webinars at which parents can talk to doctors about the vaccine.

Kelly: Trump Justice Department Official Invoked Executive Privilege at January 6 Select Committee
In a 15-page letter obtained by American Greatness and prepared by his attorney, Jeffery Clark, the acting assistant attorney general for the Justice Department’s civil division in President Trump’s last few months of office, invoked executive privilege today before the January 6 Select Committee.
Clark, who has been under intense media scrutiny for attempting to address election illegalities in the 2020 presidential election, was subpoenaed by the committee on October 13. Committee chairman Bennie Thompson (D- Miss.) claimed Clark thwarted “the peaceful transfer of power.” Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee last month prepared a lengthy report accusing Clark of working with Donald Trump to overturn the election results. Harry W. MacDougald, Clark’s lawyer, explained to Thompson why Clark would not testify. “Because former President Trump was properly entitled, while he held office, to the confidential advice of lawyers like Mr. Clark, Mr. Clark is subject to a sacred trust—one that is particularly vital to the constitutional separation of powers,” MacDougald wrote. “As a result, any attempts—whether by the House or by the current President—to invade that sphere of confidentiality must be resisted.” In an unprecedented move, Biden . . .

The strangest news story of the last few days relates to multiple FBI raids on the homes of people associated with Project Veritas, including that of founder James O’Keefe. Those who were searched say that the agents were looking for information related to the alleged theft of a diary belonging to Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley, which the New York Times and other news sources have confirmed. The diary dates to 2019, when Ashley was in a drug rehab facility. It left her possession under circumstances that are not clear. Someone offered it to Project Veritas, saying that Ashley had left it in a room at, if I understand correctly, the rehab facility. Ashley evidently maintains that it was stolen. […] But an FBI investigation? A year after the diary disappeared and was published? Since when is the alleged theft of a woman’s diary a federal crime? Let alone a federal crime that warrants investigation by the FBI? Jonathan Turley reviews the facts of the case and asks: . . . […] Good question! Fictional Sesame Street muppets have taken to social media to encourage children to get vaccinated following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for the five to eleven age group. In a tweet on Saturday morning, the imaginary character Big Bird pretended it received a coronavirus vaccine. “I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy,” the tweet reads. “Ms. @EricaRHill even said I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird. I had no idea!”

Lewis: China builds US aircraft carrier mock-ups to prepare for future naval strikes as Beijing’s military build-up triggers growing fears in Washington
China has built mock-ups of US ships on what appears to be a military firing range, adding to fears that the country is gearing up for a confrontation with America. Satellite images captured by Colorado-based satellite imagery company Maxar Technologies on Sunday show China has built targets shaped like a US Ford-class aircraft carrier and Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. The mock-ups are located in Ruoqiang, in China’s northwestern desert region of Xinjiang, on what US analysts believe is a military firing range – suggesting they will be used for target practice. It comes amid a massive military build-up by Beijing that has seen it develop new nukes, battleships, jet fighters, tanks and missiles while massively expanding its armed forces as it takes an increasingly bullish stance on the world stage.

After a last minute change to the voting calendar late Friday evening, 13 Republicans helped Democrats pass President Joe Biden’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. Six Democrats voted against the bill, but it passed thanks to the 13 Republicans who voted for it, for a final vote total of 228-206. Don Bacon of Nebraska, Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Andrew Garbarino of New York, Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio, John Katko of New York, Nicole Malliotakis of New York, David McKinley of West Virginia, Tom Reed of New York, Chris Smith of New Jersey, Fred Upton of Michigan, Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, and Don Young of Alaska were the 13 Republicans who voted in favor of the bill, which is estimated to add $256 billion to the deficit over the next 10 years. Six members of “The Squad” voted against the bill: Jamaal Bowman of New York, Cori Bush of Missouri, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.

Barkoukis: With Gas Prices Soaring, Biden May Close Another Pipeline
Winter is coming and gas prices are soaring but that hasn’t stopped the Biden administration from considering whether to close another pipeline. News that the administration “was quietly studying the potential market impact of killing” Enbridge’s Line 5, which transports 540,000 barrels per day of light crude oil and natural gas liquids from Superior, Wisconsin, to Sarnia, Ontario, which is then refined into propane, was first reported by Politico and has led to fierce pushback from Republican lawmakers. The pipeline’s closing has long been championed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer over the potential for an oil spill. She’s called the 4.5-mile stretch in the Great Lakes a “ticking time bomb.”
