NOTABLE QUOTES

Mario Alexis Portella contributor to The Imaginative Conservative wrote: What was the understanding of the American Founding Fathers of the natural rights endowed by the Creator to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Unless one dissects the etymology of such words, unfortunately arbitrariness becomes the decisive factor in interpreting them.

Rich Logis contributor to American Greatness wrote: It is Republicans who romanticize democracy, not Democrats. Democrats romanticize outnumbering, overwhelming, and overtaking their opposition; their modus operandi isn’t much different from Islamic supremacists, the Chinese, and malignant cancerous cells that seek to outnumber, overwhelm, and overtake healthy cells. To affirm just how pathetic the national GOP is, Republicans are placing their hopes and dreams with . . . Joe Manchin, senator from West Virginia.

Andrea Widburg contributor to American Thinker wrote: Mitch McConnell is so anxious to retain the vestiges of power in the Senate that he’s willing to take the risk and allow a Senate vote on rules for the new session and rely on the word of two Democrats that they will not vote to abandon a 215-year-old rule that has long protected minority party rights and that is the only thing standing between America as she was and America as she will be under total Democrat control without the brakes of our Constitution and its Bill of Rights.

John Horvatt II author of Return To Order: From a Frenzied Economy to an Organic Christian Society–Where We’ve Been, How We Got Here and Where We Need to Go wrote: Thus, all political events happen inside God’s Providence. When the outcome of an election is good, then leaders and people can work together with God to further His glory by the practice of virtue and the development of a rich culture. However, when a society falls into decadence, its people work against God’s Providence and try to diminish His glory. God permits that the people suffer the natural consequences of their vices. Political elections will reflect this situation as people get the leaders they deserve. The nation will then be chastised with the scourge of godless leaders, who serve as instruments of God’s justice to bring people back to Him.

Mollie Hemmingway Senior Editor of The Federalist wrote: Cheney spending more time back in Wyoming to get more acquainted with the voters she represents, rather than the D.C. peers she’s spent much of her life around, may be just what everyone needs.

PRESIDENT TRUMP

Davis: Top Trump adviser thinks next step for former president is obvious
When former President Donald Trump ends his current transition period, he will emerge as a leader in the election integrity movement, according to a top adviser. Jason Miller made the comment to Just the News on Thursday, one day after Trump left Washington, D.C., for his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
“Trump has a number of goals over the next couple of years,” Miller said. […] “You’re going to see him emerge as the nation’s leader on ballot and voting integrity,” said Miller, , , , […] “How many years did Republicans sit there on Capitol Hill, even though we had both the House and the Senate, and never did anything about the spying and cheating that we saw from President Obama and his administration?”

ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE ON THE 2020 ELECTION RESULT

(H/T DG) John Horvatt II: Recovering a Providential Vision of History After the Election
Recent election-related events only make sense when we have a Providential vision of history. Most people don’t. As a result, many are confused and depressed now that things have taken a turn for the worse. They don’t know how to deal with the very real evils that overwhelm us. There are even signs of despair. Our problem is that we suffer from a naturalistic vision of life inherited from Enlightenment thinkers. This vision denies events have any supernatural meaning. Science is deemed sufficient to account for all phenomena. Thus, we tend to interpret events as random sequences of actions, organized according to certain methods and processes. Our naturalistic culture also teaches us that God is largely absent from the complex interplay of individuals and activities. At best, he is the absent clockmaker who wound up the universe and left it to run on its own.[…] The life of a Christian requires that we work with the action of Divine Providence, never against it. Mindful of man’s free will, God requires our intelligent cooperation in carrying out His designs. He expects us to use the resources that in His Providence He places at our disposal. He assists us with His grace and supernatural gifts to aid us when disaster strikes. Providence is manifested in several ways. […] . . . all political events happen inside God’s Providence . . .[…] .. . . the general election must be seen from the perspective of God’s Providence. There was a reason why it turned out the way it did. Those who think America did not deserve this chaotic outcome need only reflect that we . . .[…] Our role now is to be attuned to the designs of Providence and act accordingly. Such action includes continued political efforts, which are undoubtedly important. However, we must watch for every opportunity that Providence puts in our path to live, promote and change society to glorify Him. We must . . .

CHNIA: AMERICA’S MORTAL ENEMY

Jones: China sanctions 28 Trump officials and their families minutes after Biden inauguration
The Chinese government announced sanctions against more than two dozen Trump administration officials and their immediate families within minutes of President Joe Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday. Among those sanctioned was former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to Reuters. Pompeo has been vocal about China’s treatment of Uyghur Muslims, particularly in the last few days. Reuters reported 28 people in total were sanctioned over what China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called “crazy actions that have gravely interfered in China’s internal affairs.” The country’s foreign ministry expounded on the sanctions on its website.

Sexton: Xi Xinping Issues Warning To Biden A Day After Chinese Bombers Fly Close To Taiwan
China isn’t being terribly subtle about trying to send a message to the incoming Biden administration. Over the weekend, it sent planes including bombers into the airspace near Taiwan two days in a row: Taiwan’s defence ministry said eight Chinese bomber planes capable of carrying nuclear weapons, four fighter jets and one anti-submarine aircraft entered its self-declared south-western air defense identification zone on Saturday. Sunday’s operation involved 12 fighters, two anti-submarine aircraft and a reconnaissance plane, the ministry said. On both occasions, Taiwan’s air force warned away the aircraft and deployed air defense missile systems to monitor the planes. Saturday the U.S. sent a signal back. […] Today, Xi Jinping himself issued a statement which didn’t mention Taiwan but which did warn the Biden administration about igniting a new cold war by messing with China’s attempts to dominate the world’s technology market.

GOP

Kelly: GOP Election Fraud Deniers Face Reckoning
So here’s the official company line promoted by establishment Republicans to defend the outcome of the 2020 presidential election: Of course the election had some irregularities like all elections but nothing that would change the result and, by the way, the country needs some major election integrity reform before this happens again. The doublespeak designed to refute what election fraud deniers call “the big lie” was best expressed over the weekend by Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor, failed presidential candidate, and now paid ABC News shill. While attempting to shame fellow Republicans for bolstering Donald Trump’s complaints about how the election was handled in states that flipped to Joe Biden in 2020, Christie falsely claimed there wasn’t any evidence of vote fraud. “I don’t think there’s any question that the country needs to focus on in terms of our elections is making sure we have some effective electoral reform . . . we need to make the system better for 2022,” Christie told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Sunday. “But this election was not stolen.” Others have set up a similar trap for themselves. Just hours before the so-called “insurrection” began, ex-Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) . . .

Logis: Democracy: The Benign vs. the Malignant
Republicans have to work much harder to drive voter turnout than do Democrats. This is because too many Republicans live in a world created by George Will, Willard Romney, and William Kristol, where democracy is an endeavor of Socratic nobility, in which the finest traits of Man are made manifest for all the world to see. Democrats? Nah, they don’t bother with any of that drivel—outnumber, overwhelm, and overtake. Vote blue no matter who, no matter what. This is simple-majority democracy, and simple-majority democracy is political terrorism. We lost Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin by a combined 43,000 votes; a total of 4.3 million registered voters in these states stayed home on Election Day, and I promise you the majority weren’t Democrats. Furthermore, the Libertarian candidate received more votes in each state than was the margin of victory for Biden. Libertarians are romanticizers of democracy as well. […] Though I don’t doubt that massive amounts of mailed paper ballots (subject to fraud and errors) and Democrats’ interstate migration hurt us, we were hurt far more by the usual Republican laziness, torpor, and obsession with the romanticization of democracy. In electoral politics, no man is an island. Voter fraud? Who cares? If we had a Republican Party that had taken the time, all those years ago, . . .

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME

Stauffer: And There It Is: First Bill Introduced by Dems Would Codify Controversial 2020 Election Changes That Handed Them Victory
Democratic Rep. John Sarbanes of Maryland has introduced the first bill of the 117th Congress, a bill that would profoundly transform the way America conducts its elections. H.R. 1 is a breathtaking power grab by the Democrats and threatens the very bedrock of our democratic republic by nearly guaranteeing one-party rule in Washington for years to come. According to a statement on Sarbanes’ website, “the 2020 election underscored the need for comprehensive, structural democracy reform. Americans across the country were forced to overcome rampant voter suppression, gerrymandering and a torrent of special-interest dark money just to exercise their vote and their voice in our democracy.”

THE CORRUPT & DANGEROUS DEMOCRAT MEDIA INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Pullmann: How To Stop Using Google Search On Your Computer And Phone
A 2018 Wall Street Journal investigation concluded, “The internet giant uses blacklists, algorithm tweaks and an army of contractors to shape what you see.” It reported, among other things: More than 100 interviews and the Journal’s own testing of Google’s search results reveal: . . . […] It is very simple to fix this problem of Google tampering with your thinking: Stop using Google’s search engine and start using something else. A major reason Google remains dominant is that 90 percent of the world uses them for search, so they have more data than any other competitor to make their results better. So the more you use an alternative search engine, the more data you are sharing with competitors to Google to help them improve. […] Use Brave for your browser on all your screens (phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, etc.). Brave will not only get you away from Google’s Chrome browser that your phone uses if you have an Android (Google) system, it will also get you using the search engine DuckDuckGo instead of Google.Brave is run by Mozilla founder Brendan Eich, who was kicked out of his own tech company for contributing a small amount to a California campaign to recognize male-female marriage as the only one that matters to society (because it’s the only one that organically generates children). Eich is a free speech advocate, and therefore Brave has a reputation for offering far better privacy than the browsers used as data vacuums by bigs like Google, Apple, and Microsoft.

Allahpundit: Kyrsten Sinema: No, I’m Not Getting Rid Of The Filibuster To Make The Left Happy, And No, You Can’t Change My Mind
The funny thing about this is that neither party believes her. She’s said before that she won’t vote to end the filibuster but this is a sensitive moment, shall we say, for her to underline the point. That’s because Mitch McConnell has refused to cooperate with Chuck Schumer on the rules for the new Senate term, insisting that he won’t agree to a 50/50 power-sharing agreement in which Democrats chair Senate committees until Schumer commits to preserving the filibuster for the next two years. Can’t do that, says Schumer; if we commit to it, that means McConnell and the GOP can filibuster every last bill Dems put on the floor, no matter how unreasonably, and the majority will be stuck. Well, then, says McConnell, I guess the new rules will remain unapproved. The surreal result, for now, is that Republicans remain in charge of all committees (under the old rules passed when they were in the majority last year) even though Democrats control the Senate thanks to Harris’s ability to cast tiebreaking votes. In other words, McConnell is blocking Dems from taking charge and there’s not a ton Schumer can do to stop him.
