NOTABLE QUOTES

Sundance contributor to the Last Refuge reassures us that it is possible to pray for  President Biden: Pray Psalm 109:8: Let his days be few; Let another take his office.

Nancy Pelosi (D-NY)  US House Majority Leader said the quiet part out loud:  “We have to keep government open…to address the full Obama agenda of building back better – with, and I love to saying building back better.”

Rick Moran contributor to PJ Media: There are more Democrats rushing to light the fuse on the bomb that would blow up the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure framework and $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” budget bill than want to prevent an explosion. And with a president who appears to be moving in slow motion, befuddled by the whole process, there’s not much left to do except work on his speech blaming Republicans for the mess he’s made of things.

Adam Andrzejewski  senior contributor to Forbes: Buried on page 168 of the House Democrats’ 2,465-page mega bill is a tenfold increase in fines for employers that “willfully,” “repeatedly,” or even seriously violate a section of labor law that deals with hazards, death, or serious physical harm to their employees.

David B. Rivkin Jr. & Robert Alt contributors  to the WSJ: OSHA’s job is to promote safe workplaces, not to dictate medical decisions to employees.

Dr. Paul Cottrell: “The more boosters you get,  the less your body will respond to it.”

Steve Feinstein contributor to American Thinker: One’s position on the COVID-19 issue identifies one’s political loyalties, pure and simple.

Jonathan Isaac Orlando Magic forward:  “I’ve had Covid already, so our understanding of antibodies and natural immunity is still evolving. With my age group and physical fitness level it’s not necessarily a fear of mine. Taking the Vaccine, it opens me up to the rare chance of having an adverse reaction to the Vaccine itself. I don’t believe that being Unvaccinated means being infected or being Vaccinated means uninfected. You can still catch Covid with or without the Vaccine.”

Greg Piper reporter for Just the News: The U.S. Coast Guard developed an accusatory script for chaplains to use when quizzing service members on their requests for religious exemptions from vaccines. For example, the script directs chaplains to challenge service members with “visible tattoos” if they cite 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, which tells Christians to keep their bodies pure as “temples of the Holy Spirit.”

Pedro Gonzales contributor to American Greatness: Noem appears to be fine with being on the side of “big government and social engineering using government power to force behavior” when it comes to landing her daughter a job and advancing corporate interests. The reports of an affair with Lewandowski and strong-arming nepotism represent personal duplicity in a woman who has already proven politically hypocritical.

Dennis Prager contributor to Townhall: I have thought about this all my life because the question, “Who hid Jews?” is one of the most important questions anyone — Jew or non-Jew — needs to think about. That question is far more important than “Who didn’t hide Jews?” because great goodness is rarer than great evil and even rarer than simple moral cowardice. Yet, a vast number of books have been written attempting to understand evil, while relatively few have been written attempting to explain good.

Terry McAuliffe Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate: “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”

Moran: Republicans Get Out of the Way as Democrats Form a Circular Firing Squad
The End Times are upon Joe Biden and the Democrats. Without some kind of miracle, Biden’s entire agenda is ready to collapse into a heap of smoking rubble. […] The president badly overestimated his own abilities and underestimated GOP unity. He overestimated his ability to sell his agenda to both radical socialists and Main Street Democrats. In the end, the socialists undermined Biden by acting like radical socialists and throwing a tantrum when they didn’t get exactly what they wanted. And the Main Street Democrats got a bad case of the shakes when contemplating the passage of the $3.5 trillion budget bill without any obvious way to pay for it. Perhaps the biggest factor that has doomed the president’s agenda is . . .

U.S. SUPREME COURT

Raabe: The Supreme Court Passes on Religious Liberty Cases
While the Supreme Court will take up hot-button cases regarding abortion, affirmative action, and gun rights in its upcoming term, conspicuous by its absence is another area desperately needing judicial clarity: religious liberty. Of the dozens of cases slated to be heard by the high court beginning next month, none have to do with the preeminent clash of rights of our time: the right not to be discriminated against versus the right to live out one’s life according to one’s religious beliefs. The Court is taking up a case from Maine that involves rules governing the state’s tuition assistance program. Some religious schools in the state have been denied funds that public schools receive because the state is worried about funding religious activities. But no cases coming before the black robes will involve gay teachers suing religious schools for letting them go, companies being forced to include abortifacients in their health plans, or, regrettably, religious wedding service providers being required to violate their religious beliefs in order to continue their professions. […]  Lower courts have ruled every which way on such cases.

Gonzales: Kristi Noem Shows Why Republicans Can’t Have Nice Things
Multiple sources have informed American Greatness that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is having an extramarital affair with adviser Corey Lewandowski, who previously served as a campaign manager for Donald Trump. The alleged fling reportedly has continued for months, sources say.
Lewandowski accompanied Noem across the country as she stumped for Trump’s reelection last year. According to South Dakota Republicans, former Noem chief of staff Joshua Shields left, in part, because of Lewandowski’s butting in. Lewandowski, who is married with four children, still has the former president’s ear, which he reportedly uses to Noem’s advantage.  […] On March 5, Donald Trump, Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle hosted a fundraiser for Noem at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and home in Palm Beach. Noem was invited to a second fundraiser there in April. Lewandowski has played a key role in boosting Noem’s clout with Trump. […]  The governor has recently been on the defensive against Republicans upset with her handling of issues ranging from transgenderism to corporate vaccine mandates in her state. Critics have described her supposed “conservative principles” as hollow. [NOTE: Shades of Kamala]. Read more at American Greatness.

2020 ELECTION

Walsh: Georgia Opens Probe Into Drop Box Ballots, Chain Of Custody In Huge Democrat County
Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has opened an investigation into the handling of dropboxes in the 2020 election in one of the state’s Democratic strongholds. The investigation comes after a scathing report that there were problems with the chain of custody documentation in DeKalb County, Just The News reported. DeKalb County, which is just outside the Atlanta metro area, is one of the largest Democrat strongholds in the state.

ADI Staff Reporter: Arizona Attorney General Begins Investigation Into Irregularities Uncovered In Senate Audit
In the wake of the Arizona Senate’s release of the 2020 General Election in Maricopa County audit findings, the Arizona Attorney General’s Election Integrity Unit has begun an investigation. The Election Integrity Unit (EIU) sent a letter to the Arizona Senate requesting supporting documents from the audit report released last week. It has also advised Maricopa County to preserve all documents and data related to the 2020 election. Read more at Arizona Daily Independent News Network.

THE FIGHT FOR ELECTION INTEGRITY

(AZ primary Republican candidate for AG) Andrew Gould: Arizona Deserves An All-Star Election Integrity Unit
Many Americans have lingering concerns about the 2020 election. This is particularly true in Arizona, where the results of a lengthy audit were published last Friday.  While opinions are divided about the audit, it is undeniable that many Arizonans believe there was fraud in the election and, as a result, they have lost confidence in the democratic process.   It is the responsibility of government officials to address these concerns and restore the People’s confidence in their elections. The right to vote is guaranteed under the Constitution.  However, as the Supreme Court stated in Storer v. Brown, “substantial regulation of elections” is necessary “if they are to be fair and honest and if some sort of order, rather than chaos, is to accompany the democratic process.” Today, our democratic system is under attack from the Democrat’s large, well-funded team of election lawyers.  Their experienced legal teams flood the courts with lawsuits every election cycle.  For example, they sent an army of seventy-seven lawyers to Arizona to stop the audit, and, during the 2020 election, tried to weaponize COVID-19 to remove virtually all voting restrictions. […] . . . as Attorney General, one of my first acts will be to . . .

McCarthy: RNC Sues Two Vermont Cities Over Provision Allowing Noncitizens to Vote
The Republican National Committee (RNC) is taking action against new voting laws in Vermont, Fox News first reported on Tuesday. Along with the Vermont GOP, the RNC is taking the cities of Montpelier and Winooski to court over new edicts that allow non-citizens to vote. The committee said that the new provisions were a violation of the constitution, and part of a “far-left assault” on election integrity. “Democrats are trying to dismantle the integrity of our elections.

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING AMERICA

Griffith: ‘Your truth should not be suppressed’: VP Kamala Harris is slammed after encouraging college student who accused Israel of ‘ethnic genocide’
Vice President Kamala Harris has angered supporters of Israel by expressing support for a college student who accused the country of ‘ethnic genocide’ against Palestinians. The interaction came as Harris made a surprise visit on Tuesday to a political science class at George Mason University in northern Virginia to encourage voter registration and discuss voting rights. As Harris took questions after speaking, one of the female students voiced her concerns about US financial and military support for Israel and Saudi Arabia. ‘I see that over the summer there have been, like, protests and demonstrations in astronomical numbers standing with Palestine, but then just a few days ago there were funds allocated to continue backing Israel, which hurts my heart because it’s ethnic genocide and displacement of people, the same that happened in America, and I’m sure you’re aware of this,’ the student said, as Harris nodded. […]  The student says she felt that she had to raise the issue, saying: ‘It affects my life and people I really care about’s lives.’  ‘I’m glad you did,’ Harris responded. ‘And again, this is about the fact that your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth, should not be suppressed and it must be heard, right? And one of the things we’re fighting for in a democracy, right?’

Mirengoff: DEMS SCRAMBLE TO KEEP THEIR SPENDING DREAMS ALIVE
There are lots of moving parts to the Democrats’ struggle to spend trillions of dollars via bipartisan infrastructure legislation and Democrat-only-backed reconciliation. The debt ceiling has now been thrown into the mix for good measure. This piece in the Washington Post does a good job describing the Democrats quandary. It simplifies things considerably if one starts from the reality we have emphasized throughout — Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are in total control of what can and cannot be enacted through reciliation. For purposes of a reconciliation package, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Recognizing this reality, belatedly it seems to me, Joe Biden spent part of his day negotiating with Manchin and Sinema in what the Post reports as a series of meetings. According to the Post, however, these negotiations “did not immediately appear to produce an agreement over the final size of the spending package.”

Hinderaker: HISPANICS HATE BIDEN
If you are looking for the reasons why Joe Biden’s approval numbers are nose-diving–I know, they are legion–one explanation among many is that Hispanics can’t stand him. These numbers relate to Hispanics in Texas, who have been exposed to Biden’s disastrous border policies: . . .

9/28/2021: SENATE ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE HEARING

Moran: Top Generals Accuse Biden of Lying About Afghanistan Pullout in Sworn Testimony
The commander of the U.S. Central Command, General Kenneth “Frank” McKenzie, and the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, General Scott Miller, told Congress that they had recommended to Joe Biden that the military maintain a presence of at least 2,500 troops in Afghanistan. Biden said in an August 19 interview with George Stephanopoulos that he couldn’t recall anyone recommending that troops remain in Afghanistan after the August 31 deadline. The testimony was extraordinary because a serving commander has rarely contradicted anything his commander in chief has said.

OTHER NEWS

Shaw: Florida sues Biden administration over catch-and-release policy, alleging violation of federal law
The state of Florida is suing the Biden administration over its “illegal” catch-and-release policies at the Southern Border, saying they cause harm to the state’s “quasi-sovereign interests,” while claiming officials are either in violation of federal immigration law, or simply abusing their authority.  Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody filed the suit against the administration Tuesday, as part of a joint effort with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to “uphold the rule of law despite the Biden administration’s decision to violate the law.” […]  The lawsuit also comes after DeSantis, last month, wrote to the Biden administration asking that it stop resettling illegal immigrants in Florida. DeSantis asked that administration officials either deport them or instead send them to a state that supports the “flouting of our immigration laws.”  The Florida governor cited Border Patrol statistics that 59,691 immigrants were issued either a notice to appear in court or an order of recognizance in July alone, and that as of June, 6,254 unaccompanied children had been released to sponsors in Florida this fiscal year.

ADI Staff Reporter: Legislators Urge Ducey To Declare State Of Emergency In Response To Border Crisis
The legislators are urging the governor to “consider declaring a state of emergency, utilize the National Guard to assist as permitted to secure Arizona’s southern border, and immediately seek support from the Mexican government to assist the state in stopping this unprecedented surge.” “While the responsibility rightfully belongs to the federal government, the price for their failure is borne by border states like Arizona, and we can no longer sit back and wait for the federal government to act, particularly when we know that this administration is determined to aggravate the crisis, not resolve it,” said State Senator David Livingston. “They want this crisis, and Arizona should act to stop it.”
