U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky endorsed the Pfizer vaccine booster for younger at-risk workers, defying the agency’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices panel, which voted 9-6 against the recommendation in what many are calling a “highly unusual decision.” This group of younger at-risk workers includes teachers, healthcare workers, grocery store employees, and those who work in institutional settings.

Kelly: Times Reveals FBI Role in January 6
One thing is certain; the Times’ damage-control article is just the tip of the FBI iceberg. And more proof January 6 was an inside job. On Saturday, the Times published a carefully constructed bombshell intended to soften the blow of an explosive scandal in the making: the FBI had at least one informant among the group of Proud Boys who marched on the Capitol on January 6. The informant, according to “confidential documents” furnished to the paper, started working with the FBI in July 2020 and was in close contact with his FBI handler before, during, and after the Capitol protest. “After meeting his fellow Proud Boys at the Washington Monument that morning, the informant described his path to the Capitol grounds . . . […] Since the summer of 2016, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has used every tool in its extensive and potent arsenal to target Donald Trump. This included the use of confidential informants, FISA warrants, leaks of classified information, and sketchy documents such as the Steele dossier produced by another FBI asset at the time, Christopher Steele. As I’ve written for months, the FBI now is turning those weapons against Trump-supporting Americans.

Thomas Caldwell’s is just one of several stories of American patriots living the nightmare of being American political prisoners. Thomas Caldwell’s wife awakened him in a panic at 5:30 a.m. on January 19. “The FBI is at the door and I’m not kidding,” Sharon Caldwell told her husband. Caldwell, 66, clad only in his underwear, went to see what was happening outside his Virginia farm. “There was a full SWAT team, armored vehicles with a battering ram, and people screaming at me,” Caldwell told me during a lengthy phone interview on September 21. “People who looked like stormtroopers were pointing M4 weapons at me, covering me with red [laser] dots.” Agents demanded that Caldwell, a former lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy who suffers from debilitating service-related spinal injuries, come outside and lay down in the grass. “Someone grabbed my legs and dragged me through the grass. […] Agents read what he called a “version” of his Miranda rights; he consented to the interview without an attorney present. Caldwell told me something I’ve heard repeatedly from January 6 defendants as to why they easily cooperated with the FBI: “I didn’t have anything to hide.” […] Agents then transported Caldwell to the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange, Virginia, two hours from their home. He thought he would be booked and released. Instead, it was just the start of what he called “an American horror story.”

A “Physicians’ Declaration” produced by an international alliance of physicians and medical scientists strongly condemns the global strategy to treat COVID, accusing policy-makers of potential “crimes against humanity” for preventing physicians from providing life-saving treatments for their patients and suppressing open scientific discussion. The document states that “one size fits all” treatment recommendations have resulted in needless illness and death. As of 1:00 Friday afternoon, the declaration had garnered over 3,100 signatures from doctors and scientists around the world. A group of physicians and scientists met in Rome, Italy earlier this month for a three day Global Covid Summit to speak “truth to power about Covid pandemic research and treatment.”

One of the nation’s leading economic and business groups is warning that the $3.5 trillion spending bill before Congress is an “existential threat” to the nation’s economy. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has launched a six-figure television ad campaign targeting the proposed tax hikes in the measure that would be “taking more hard-earned money from small businesses and working families.” The initial ads will play in California, Minnesota, Virginia, New York and Iowa. “This reconciliation bill is effectively 100 bills in one representing every big government idea that’s never been able to pass in Congress,” U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne Clark said. “The bill is an existential threat to America’s fragile economic recovery and future prosperity. We will not find durable or practical solutions in one massive bill that is equivalent to more than twice the combined budgets of all 50 states. The success of the bipartisan infrastructure negotiations provides a much better model for how Congress should proceed in addressing America’s problems.”

America increasingly resembles a failed state. […] Todd Bensman of CIS did what virtually no member of the media has done—excepting one Los Angeles Times reporter I’m aware of—and crossed into Ciudad Acuña to talk to directly to the migrants on the Mexican side. What he found was surprising, and shocking. The Haitians reported that they, longtime residents of Mexico, were abruptly released by Mexican authorities to proceed north and cross into the United States in mid-September. The reason given: a gift in celebration of Mexican Independence Day. So they did—by the thousands. Someone orchestrated this. Who? To what end? These are questions a press corps competent to its putative purpose might pursue. These are questions to which a government genuinely concerned with the welfare and sovereignty of the United States might demand answers—and accountability. Neither media nor the federal government will do anything like that. We are left to ask it ourselves, and we start with the understanding that if Bensman’s account is accurate, then the Haitian incursion and encampment, stupendous and alarming as it is, is not the real crisis. Don’t misunderstand me: it’s a crisis in full, but it’s a crisis covering for something else. It’s a feint. A feint for what? Here we must speculate.

President Biden may have improperly avoided paying Medicare taxes before he took office and could owe the IRS up to $500,000, according to a Congressional Research Service report. […] Banks said the report indicated that Biden improperly used “S corporations” while he and first lady Jill Biden raked in over $13 million on speaking fees and book sales in 2017 and 2018, but counted less than $800,000 of it as a salary that could be taxed for Medicare.

Kimball: How It Might End, Act I
A couple of years ago, I had the honor of publishing American Secession: The Looming Threat of a National Breakup by Frank Buckley, a prolific author and law professor at George Mason University. Buckley began by noting the obvious: that we in America are more divided now than at any time since the 1850s. We know how that Disunited States of America worked out, and the horror of the Civil War—what Buckley calls Secession 1.0—has led many of us to conclude that we’d put up with almost anything rather than risk a repeat of that disaster. “Almost” anything. Buckley does not predict a second American secession, exactly, but he shows, convincingly, I think, how it might come about. “The bitterness” of our life together, “the contempt for opponents, the growing tolerance of violence, all invite us to think that we’d all be happier were we two different countries.” There is something to that. And something to Buckley’s admonitory conclusion: “In all the ways that matter, save for the naked force of the law, we are already divided into two nations, just as much as in 1861.”

When did we become a nation of socialist AOCs wearing “Tax the Rich” dresses to $35,000-a-ticket celebrity galas, without mandatory masks, while being served by masked servants—a now tired script from the Obama birthday bash crowd to the grandees at the Emmys? When did we discover that we must listen to oppressed billionaire Oprah from her $90 million Montecito estate commiserating with a billionaire Lebron or royal Meghan Markle about the racist white establishment? Is there anyone in the recent Washington intelligence and investigatory hierarchy who has not lied or feigned loss of memory under oath—a low bar that nevertheless excludes, among others, John Brennan, James Clapper, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Robert Mueller, or Peter Strzok? Did anyone just five years ago believe the following could possibly happen in America—and invoke almost no popular outrage from a somnolent public?

Orenstein: The Civil Rights Struggle of 2021
Mandated vaccines for all is the civil rights issue of our time. Government overreach has now created loss of privacy of our personal health information and has demonstrated that we can be fined and even jailed for not complying with their unconstitutional and illegal “laws.” But we know that these are not laws, they are government proclamations from the mayor and public officials. So, what does civil disobedience and a civil rights movement look like in 2021? In the 1960’s the ACLU defended the civil rights and constitutional rights of all citizens. But they’ve gone silent today. Where do we go from here? It will be up to individuals, community action groups, religious organizations, parents, and political clubs to defend and speak out in an organized and non-violent manner for the protection of our rights which we have fought for as a country for over 250 years. These government mandates are a slippery slope to further erode the rights and privileges of the individual.

Here are some books predicting this or that environmental disaster: Our Plundered Planet (1948), Road to Survival (1948), Silent Spring (1962), Famine 1975! (1967), The Population Bomb (1968), The Limits to Growth (1972), An Inconvenient Truth (2006), This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. Climate (2014), The Uninhabitable Earth: Life After Warming (2019). Richard Lindzen, one of the most accomplished climate scientists in the world by virtue of his discoveries, does not have to kowtow to the global warming mob. In an essay, he pointed out that scientific data that challenge the global warming hypothesis . . .

Kauffner: Late night TV unites against climate change
With seven late-night TV hosts abandoning comedy for “Climate Night“ (Sept. 22), the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reporting that the Earth is on a “catastrophic pathway,” and over 200 medical journals denouncing global warming’s “catastrophic harm to health,” we are being inundated with a tsunami of climate propaganda. One must ask who still believes these tired old canards? The media have been hysterical about the climate since NASA scientist James Hansen made some outlandish predictions in 1988. Former Vice President Al Gore famously predicted that global warming would cause the world to end by 2016.

Piper: UMass Medical School threatens faculty who indirectly ‘contribute’ to capital punishment
Policy change justified by racial and ethnic considerations, according to provost’s memo. […] School of Medicine Vice Provost Anne Larkin announced the change internally two months ago, citing an ethics opinion from the American Medical Association (AMA) published in 2016 and reaffirmed this year. The memo was apparently only made public last week, when the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) warned the med school it’s violating the First Amendment rights of faculty. “Such a policy could be easily redeployed to censor faculty on any number of controversial issues, including abortion care and physician-assisted suicide,” according to a Sept. 9 letter to Chancellor Michael Collins from Adam Steinbaugh, director of FIRE’s Individual Rights Defense Program.
