NOTABLE QUOTES

Jonathan Turley constitutional law professor and Democrat expressed his astonishment that Biden supported the extension of the eviction moratorium though declared unconstitutional: Biden came to office declaring a return to the “rule of law” but has actually racked up an impressive array of court losses. Now he is treating a presumptively unconstitutional act as a purely tactical consideration to allow the spending of federal funds. That is not exactly what he pledged before he declared “so help me God” on January 20th.

John Daniel Davison contributor to The Federalist: . . .the left doesn’t want to draw undue attention to its evisceration of property rights under the guise of public health. But the way all this has gone down illustrates a deeply disturbing reality about the Democrats running the pandemic response in Washington: They’re lawless, and as the pandemic drags on, they’re becoming bolder about it.

ADI Staff Reporter exposes Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) dishonesty: In his first speech on the Senate floor, Sen. Mark Kelly called on the federal government to work to secure the border and end the ongoing border crisis. However, moments later Kelly voted against what has been described as a “commonsense amendment to secure the border.”

Issues & Insights Editorial Board questions Democrats waiting until now to call for Gov. Cuomo’s resignation: We ask, where were these self-righteous Democrats when Cuomo and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, his Marxist frenemy, were wrecking New York’s economy while imposing devastating COVID-19 lockdown rules on an unsuspecting populace? The time to get rid of Cuomo was last year when credible claims of his misbehavior were being made and his policies were killing thousands of elderly New Yorkers in nursing homes and destroying jobs and the quality of life across the Empire State.

Fuzzy Slippers contributor to Legal Insurrection questions St. Pete poll that has Crist leading DeSantis: Crist is among the most weaselly, skeevy pols out there. He was a disgusting, spineless faux Republican, and he’s been equally flaccid as a Democrat. His brief stint as an Indie provides the cherry on top of his laughingstock status. No politician, excepting perhaps smarmy Mittens McRomneyCare, has leaped from one party to another to none and back with the whiplash speed of Crist. Untethered by principles or morals, Crist cares about Crist. Floridians didn’t take long to figure that out and made him a one-term governor.

Michelle Malkin with a few choice words about soccer “star” Megan Rapinoe: Well, she is certainly a bitter one, ain’t she? Perhaps if Moany Megan had spent more time running drills on the field instead of running her mouth about Black Lives Matter or gender politics or her hatred for former President Donald Trump, she’d be on the gold medal stand instead of out in the cold. Good riddance.

JANUARY 6

Hoft: Heartbreaking Interview with Father of Jake Lang: He Saved Trump Supporter Philip Anderson’s Life on Jan. 6 from Capitol Police — Now He’s a Political Prisoner in Washington DC
Political prisoner Jake Lang is serving time in Washington DC for his actions on Jan. 6. Lang was trampled when Capitol Police pushed Trump supporters down the stairs outside the US Capitol. Jake was buried under several people when the Capitol police started pushing protesters down the stairs. He was next to Rosanne Boyland who was killed by police when they continued to push Trump protesters on top of them. Jake saw Rosanne die. He saw it in her eyes. He saw Philip Anderson’s limp body. And he decided to take action. Jake, who is a former wrestler, was able to save himself and then he saved Philip Anderson who he pulled to safety. His rescue of Philip Anderson was caught on video. The entire time he was pulling Philip to safety the police continued to beat protesters with sticks and spray them with pepper spray. Jake saved Philip Anderson’s life. Then he went back and confronted the police who were still attacking the Trump supporters. It should be noted that the Trump crowd was entirely peaceful until the Capitol Police decided to fire flash grenades on the men, women, children and seniors who had gathered outside the US Capitol. This was all captured on video and the fake news mainstream media refuses to report this truth.

THE FIGHT FOR ELECTION INTEGRITY

Deese: Abbott orders second special session to pass GOP voting bill after Democrats fled in protest
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered a second special legislative session on Thursday in a new attempt to pass a GOP voting bill after Democrats left the state in protest, attempting to prevent the measure from changing the state’s election laws. The announcement was anticipated as more than 50 Democrats who left the Lone Star State on July 12 were attempting to run out the time granted for the current special session and hold back the measure from being passed for a second time since May.

U.S. CONGRESS

Krishan: Conservative Ken Buck defies GOP leadership in charge against Big Tech
Republican Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado has transformed himself from a free-market evangelist to a crusader against tech monopolies. Buck, the top Republican on the powerful House antitrust subcommittee, has played a key role in forging a bipartisan agreement in Congress that would rein in Big Tech companies such as Facebook, Google, Amazon, and Apple. […] The need to check Big Tech became apparent, Buck said, during a 2020 congressional hearing in Boulder that examined Amazon’s arm-twisting of a local gadget company to lower its prices. At that moment, he took a new interest in anti-monopoly legislation. He said he is primarily focused on building his legacy by reducing unfair monopolistic behavior and increasing competition in the tech industry to help small businesses and consumers. “I think that a lot of people have benefited from Amazon during the pandemic, but I think it would serve the public even better if there were four or five Amazons who were competing for the ability to serve customers,” said Buck.

THE DEMOCRAT LED WAR ON AMERICA’S CHILDREN

Lindquist: Teachers Union Head Calls For Vaccine Mandates And Lessons On Jan. 6 ‘Insurrection’
American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten has repeatedly conceded that getting kids back to in-person school is important but her unions’ pledge to do so is conditional on vaccine mandates and other COVID-19 mitigation strategies that she says “need to be negotiated.”
“Delta has created a curveball here, but what we know is that layered mitigation works,” she said on SiriusXM POTUS on Thursday. She continued: . . . […] AFT, Weingarten said, has poured millions of dollars into trying to persuade communities to get vaccinated, but that’s not enough. To get students back in school full-time, Weingarten said states and school districts need to overlook vaccine hesitancy and concerns to follow President Joe Biden and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s lead on vaccine mandates and passports. […] “They’ll have their own opinions, but they need to know what slavery was. They need to know why we have the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. They need to know the reasons and the causes for the insurrection on January 6th. That’s our obligation as teachers,” she said.

Theis: Exclusive: Radical Fairfax County ‘Summer Learning Guide’ Tells 2nd Graders, ‘I Feel Safe When There Are No Police’
Many have dubbed Virginia “ground zero” for the nationwide fight over the radical racial indoctrination scheme Critical Race Theory, which is permeating throughout public schools. While some Virginia school districts, such as Russell County, have decided against pursuing such a radical political agenda — one that tells black students that their lives do not matter and they are inherently “oppressed,” while simultaneously telling white students that they must either act or be deemed responsible for the purported “oppression” — others, like Loudoun, Albemarle, and Fairfax counties appear to have decided to go full steam ahead. The anti-police messaging comes courtesy of a YouTube channel titled “Woke Kindergarten” in a video called “Safe by Ki.” Along with the anti-police rhetoric, the FCPS “Suggested Text” continued in a somewhat veiled call-to-action, saying, “I feel safe when there are no police. And it’s no one’s job to tell me how I feel. But it’s everyone’s job to make sure that people who are being treated unfairly … feel safe too.”

PEACEFULLY & PATRIOTICALLY HAVE YOUR VOICES HEARD

Chakraborty: Pennsylvania school official faces calls to resign after booting anti-CRT parent from meeting
A Pennsylvania school board president is facing calls to step down after he cut off an Iranian mother who spoke out against critical race theory at a recent board meeting. Anita Edgarian, an immigrant and mother of three, tried to ask if teachers were being taught CRT, but she was abruptly cut off by West Chester Area School Board President Chris McCune. McCune was heard saying, “Anita, you’re at time,” to which Edgarian replied, “No, no.” On tape, McCune is seen approaching Edgarian at the podium, taking her microphone, and telling her to leave. “This is shameful,” McCune said as he returned to the stage. “We’ve had a respectful meeting up until you. You bombarded up there, and now you want to monopolize the meeting. Not happening. You’re gone.”

BIDEN/HARRIS/OBAMA REGIME: TRANSFORMING AMERICA

Turley: Democrats’ election bills ignore the Founders’ principles
As the fight over election reform heats up in Congress, the White House is ramping up the rhetoric, declaring that President Biden and Vice President Harris are “incensed by the anti-voter laws that are trampling on our constitutional principles.” It is a mantra repeated on an array of liberal news sites, but the coverage tends to be selective in what constitutional principles are being abridged. “Our constitutional principles” include state power over elections. While the president decries an “unprecedented attack on democracy,” the federalization of elections being pursued by Democrats actually would contravene what the Framers considered a core protection of democracy. By ignoring those countervailing principles, the Democrats are creating a dangerous blind spot in these proposed laws. The resulting litigation could leave core election rules in doubt heading into the next round of elections.

Turley: “I Do Solemnly Swear”: Biden Calls for Extending the Eviction Moratorium Despite Being Unconstitutional
As I discussed yesterday, I was astonished by the remarks of President Joe Biden on his support for extending the eviction moratorium, which was found to be unconstitutional by lower courts. It was later preserved by a divided Supreme Court despite the view of a majority that it was unconstitutional. It was saved from being struck down merely by the fact that it was expiring. President Biden acknowledged that his legal experts overwhelmingly told him that any extension would violate the Constitution. However, he then said it was worth extending the moratorium because it would take time for a court to intervene and, in the interim, they could rush out money to renters despite the lack of constitutional authority to do so. Like many, I was mystified by the Supreme Court decision not to strike down the moratorium. The 5-4 decision in Alabama Association of Realtors v. HHS turned on the fact that it was about to expire on July 31st. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh voted to preserve it but Kavanaugh made clear in his opinion that he would vote against any extension as unconstitutional. It was a decision decoupled from the merits. The unconstitutionality of the law was treated as simply inconvenient or irrelevant given the expiration.

FAUCI’S VIRUS: IT’S POLITICAL

D’Abrosca: Call the COVID Hysteria What It Is
Do you know what one of the most common psychological torture tactics is? Isolation. Other common tactics of psychological torture, according to the Center for the Study of Human Rights in the Americas at the University of California, Davis, include indefinite detention and a sense of futility. Threats of death are also a common tactic psychological torturers use. So is degradation and sensory deprivation. Torture is defined as “the deliberate, systematic, or wanton infliction of physical or mental suffering by one or more persons acting alone or on the orders of any authority . . . to force another person to yield information, to make a confession, or for any other reason” (Emphasis added). Medical professionals make no definitional distinction between psychological and physical torture. Do any of the above tactics of psychological torture sound familiar? They should. Your government leaders, at the direction of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, have been inflicting them upon you for almost 18 months. Lockdowns are the obvious example of isolation. But subtler is the suggestion, which is once again becoming a major talking point among our “public health” and elected officials, that if you do dare to leave your house, standing close to another human being or gathering in groups could be dangerous, even deadly. […] The overarching theme of all torture is repetition. Such repetition is meant to break you, so you will submit to the will of your torturers. Can you think of a group of people who have repeated the CDC’s ridiculous “guidance,” day in and day out, even when it changed on a dime? I can. The entire left-wing media apparatus . . .

BOOK REVIEW

‘Fault Lines’: New Bestseller Exposes Critical Race Theory’s Danger
Fault Lines: The Social Justice Movement and Evangelicalism’s Looming Catastrophe by Dr. Voddie T. Baucham, Jr., is the number one bestseller in its category in Amazon as of this writing in early August, 2021. The book was released in April, and yet it already has five thousand customer reviews, 94% of which award the book five-stars. Given that Fault Lines is not receiving the kind of major-media, saturation coverage that a bestseller might expect, many of those thousands of reviews are fueled by enthusiastic word-of-mouth. Fault Lines deserves its phenomenal success. Don’t let its “Evangelical” subtitle fool you. I’m no Evangelical, but I will happily join my five-star review to the thousands of others. Baucham’s presentation of the history and current profile of critical theory is accessible to all readers. Even non-Christians can benefit from understanding how the majority faith of Americans is being corrupted. Finally, as a Christian, Baucham offers hope for the future. Even non-Christians can apply some of Baucham’s recommendations.
