It is a political charge and a political verdict by a political court. Every American regardless of political persuasion should be terrified of a court system so beholden to politics instead of justice. We’ve seen this movie before and it does not end well. Worse than this miscarriage of justice is the despicable attempt by the prosecutor in the case to label Hodgkins – who has no criminal record and was accused of no violent crime – a terrorist. […] In other words, Hodgkins deserved enhanced punishment because he committed a thought crime. The judge on the case, Randolph D. Moss, admitted as much. In carrying a Trump flag into the Senate, he said, Hodgkins was, “declaring his loyalty to a single individual over the nation.” […] The purpose of the Soviet show trials was to create an enemy that the public could collectively join in hating and blaming for all the failures of the system. The purpose was to turn one part of the population against the other part of the population and demand they be “cancelled.” And it worked very well…for awhile.

Gonzales: For the GOP, ‘Limited Government’ Is for Voters, Not Donors
The Republican Party has long sung the refrain of limited government and free markets, reprimanding their constituents about the dangers of intervening in the economy. Big government and boycotts, they say, are for Democrats—we may not like what private companies do, but, hey, that’s capitalism!
All of that, of course, is a lie, or at best a hypocritical half-truth. The GOP is happy to intervene in the economy to benefit its financial backers—while claiming principled objections to using government power to aid the voters who put them in power. Consider the following examples:
In July, Axios reported that more than a dozen GOP state treasurers had threatened to withdraw assets from large financial institutions if they agreed to decarbonize their lending and investment portfolios, which would harm the energy industry. Republicans promised to use the power of the purse to make banks feel the pain were they to reduce their lending to companies involved in fossil fuel development. Yet the GOP threatened no such drastic action when BlackRock, the world’s largest money manager, used its financial muscles to force retailers like Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Kroger to pull most or all guns and ammo off the shelves, effecting a kind of gun control outside the legislative process.

Arama: Staffer Shows How Lost Dems Are With His Narcing on Maskless GOP Staffers
We’ve seen a lot of ugly authoritarian things during the pandemic. One of the worst is how it’s made some people behave. Congress has been a bit of a microcosm of that. As we reported earlier, masks are now being mandated again in the House. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was not only threatening people with fines, but the Capitol Police have even said that people may be subject to arrest if they don’t comply. Republicans en masse stood up against that today marching maskless out of the House to the Senate floor where there are still no mask mandates, making the point that this is all an artificial dictate. But that wasn’t all. Democratic staffer Aaron Fritschner, who is “comms in chief for Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA),” spied massless Republicans playing water pong and corn hole in the hallway after hours. So he felt the need to fink on them to all the world on Twitter. But this is a staffer spying and reporting on the behavior of other staffers. If he’s concerned about what they’re doing, by that same token, what’s he doing with his “taxpayer-funded salary?” He’s being a ridiculous Karen narc and complaining about the fact that his neighbors are actually having fun. […] He then freaked that even after they left the hallway, they might have left the virus behind them.

A grassroots revolt in the bluest of blue states against an entrenched “woke” educational bureaucracy and teachers unions is a sign how the movement is sweeping the nation. […] In the town of South Kingstown, the local school committee publicly threatened to file a lawsuit against a mother, Nicole Solas, who allegedly filed too many open records requests. In the Chariho regional school district a black father who spoke out against CRT was led out of the local school board meeting in handcuffs, ostensibly, for not wearing a mask. In the town of Westerly, a resident, who dared to submit a resolution to ban the teaching of racial-equity principles, became the victim of a pre-orchestrated public-meeting hit job by the local teachers union in conjunction with brainwashed students and other race theorists, all sanctioned by the superintendent and school committee chair […] And it’s not just about radical race theories – it’s a revolt against the entire pervasive “woke” agenda. Parents are further outraged at the many non-science-based and over-bearing Covid-19 protocols and mandates, the gender-equity agenda, as well as at the over-sexualization of their children in public schools.

Dr. Robert Malone, inventor of mRNA vaccines, and staunch vaccine proponent, says the vaccine is making getting the virus more dangerous. That, as the least potent of the jabs, the Pfizer shot, wanes in efficacy, something called antibody-dependent enhancement takes place. This is happening now — which is why Pfizer announced a couple of weeks ago that boosters would be needed after 6 months, only to be shut down by Fauci. Which is also why the government is panicking and asking vaccinated people to wear (ineffective) masks again, and, apparently, backtracking and saying that the elderly and immune-compromised do need the boosters if they had the Pfizer vaccine. Dr. Malone says that every single Coronavirus vaccine they’ve tried has had the same problem. That as the vaccine’s effectiveness wanes, the virus replicates more efficiently. He also baldly states that the people getting the Delta variant are the vaccinated, not the rest of us, contrary to what’s being stated by the MSM. He states that our paternalistic government is heavily invested in the “noble lie” that vaccination is in “the best interest of the public” and that is why they’ve suppressed all information to the contrary. Fauci just declared that nasal titers of the virus are the same in the vaccinated and unvaccinated, puzzling everyone. What does this mean? Dr. Malone says . . .

Let’s follow The Science™ from the beginning to make sure we’re all on the same page. First, it was no masks. Then it was one mask. Then it was two masks. Then it was one mask again. Then it was no masks. Now it’s at least one mask again. First, it was “15-days to slow the spread.” Then it was de facto indefinite house arrest. Then it was “feel free to leave the house, but only if you wear your mask and follow our arbitrary rules about sitting at the local bar, or standing in line at the dry cleaners.” Then it was “do whatever you want, as long as you’re vaccinated, but if you’re not vaccinated, don’t you dare take off that mask.” Now, it’s “wear the mask even if you’re vaccinated, but thanks for participating in our science experiment.” First, the vaccine was billed as . . . . […] At the risk of sounding non-scientific, “breakthrough case” strikes me as code for “the vaccine only works sometimes.” But now there’s a new variant of the COVID virus, they say, though there’s no specific test for it. That variant, called Delta, is particularly contagious according to The Science™, which has not yet decided whether the vaccine that only works sometimes protects against Delta. Chang: China Ambushes Top American Diplomat
Once again, China’s regime went out of its way to insult Biden administration diplomats. The mauling this time took place in the Chinese city of Tianjin, on July 26. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, the most senior Biden administration official to visit China, was the victim.
Beijing used the meeting with Ms. Sherman, as it used the now-infamous March meeting in Anchorage, not to work with the U.S. but to launch a propaganda campaign against Washington. Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng, for instance, publicly accused the U.S. of trying to end the Chinese regime. “A whole-of-government and whole-of-society campaign is being waged to bring China down,” Xie said, according to the official China Daily, during Sherman’s visit. Xie even went so far as to hand Sherman two lists, containing what were portrayed as Beijing’s demands. “China has for the first time given the U.S. a list of red lines and remedial action it must take to repair relations,” Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post reported.

The Biden administration’s strategy for solving illegal immigration is a pipe dream of nation-building in Central America that’s designed to fail. In just five months, it seems Vice President Kamala Harris has managed to crack the code on illegal immigration. All we have to do to ensure that Central Americans stop illegally crossing our border is to transform the Northern Triangle countries of Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador into stable, prosperous democracies. That’s it! That’s the answer! Harris’s office on Thursday released what it calls a “Root Causes Strategy” that lays out, in just 18 pages, what decades of policymakers and successive administrations have apparently missed: the reason so many Central Americans come to the United States illegally, it turns out, is because their countries are plagued by poverty, crime, corruption, and violence. Solve those problems and bang! — you solve illegal immigration. But seriously, the vice president’s “root causes” document amounts to a heap of bureaucratic nonsense from an administration that has never taken illegal immigration seriously and whose own policies have turned the border crisis into a maelstrom of chaos. Bond: Garland Sends Letter To Governor Abbott, Threatens Legal Action Over Migrant Executive Order
Abbott signed an executive order this week restricting the flow of migrants into Texas due to COVID-19. According to the governor’s website, Abbott signed the executive order “restricting ground transportation of migrants who pose a risk of carrying COVID-19 into Texas communities.” It also “directed the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to stop any vehicle upon reasonable suspicion of such violation and reroute such vehicles back to its point of origin or a port of entry. DPS also has the authority to impound a vehicle that violates the Executive Order.” In response, Attorney General Garland wrote his own letter to Abbott, saying that the order cannot be enforced, and pressed the governor to immediately take it back. Garland wrote that the order “would jeopardize the health and safety of noncitizens in federal government custody, federal law enforcement personnel and their families, and our communities.”

There was the road rage incident in which the racist DA threatened to write a woman a ticket and then threatened a local news team, “I’ll call the police on you and make an allegation, and we’ll see how that works with you.”

Anton: David French and the Conservative Case for Hereditary Bloodguilt
A prominent “Never Trumper” argues that the sins of the fathers must be visited upon the sons. In early 2019, I published a short book that, gingerly, argued that the inevitable end-point of leftist arguments is that some demographic categories are simply born bad while others are born good; that all bad things that happen to the good people are the result of the bad people; and therefore the bad people must be punished in perpetuity. I use the adverb “gingerly” because, back then, nobody spelled out exactly what the plan is. As I put it, the Left knows that it is in a difficult rhetorical position. The heart of its argument is that some people are inherently innocent and good while others are inherently guilty and bad and must be treated accordingly. To ears insufficiently attuned to the new understanding of justice, this can sound unjust. Tying moral worth to circumstances of birth? Not treating people equally? Punishing the living for the sins of the dead? Why all this is—contrary to appearances, logic, and common sense— “just” requires considerable explanation. To the extent that people “get it,” they will sharply divide between those who say that the “advantaged” have it coming and those who object “No, I don’t.”

Pavlich: We’ve Discovered the Real Reason the CDC Is Requiring All Kids Wear Masks in Schools
But where is the evidence to justify masking children in schools due to the Delta variant? According to CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, it doesn’t exist. Biden’s CDC Director on mask mandates for kids: “We don’t have any evidence” that the Delta variant makes kids sicker. And just last month the CDC argued masks were not necessary for school children. The CDC also had an entirely different message on masking for vaccinated individuals.
