Payne: Arizona election auditor: ‘Critically important’ investigators get access to Maricopa County routers
An auditor helping lead the 2020 election audit in Maricopa County, Arizona, said Thursday that it is “critically important” auditors gain access to a contested set of data machines that the county is refusing to hand over. Maricopa County has for months refused to hand over county-owned routers subpoenaed by the Arizona state Senate, despite a judge earlier this year ruling the subpoena valid, effectively ordering the county to comply. County officials have claimed that the routers, if surrendered, could constitute a security risk if sensitive data within them is leaked.

I love being a teacher and I care a great deal about my students, almost all of whom are non-white. This past 2020/21 school year was a sad and worrisome turning point for me as an educator. Providence K-8 teachers were introduced to one of the most racially divisive, hateful, and in large part, historically inaccurate curriculums I have ever seen in my teaching career. Yes, I am speaking about the controversial critical race theory that has infiltrated our public schools here in Rhode Island under the umbrella of Cuturally Responsive learning and teaching, which includes a focus on identities. You won’t see the words “critical race theory” on the materials, but those are the concepts taught. The new, racialized curriculum and materials focuses almost exclusively on an oppressor-oppressed narrative, and have created racial tensions among students and staff where none existed before. […] What saddened me most was that I would not be teaching the Holocaust any longer. The Holocaust unit included one of the following: either Anne Frank, The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, and depending on reading level, Elie Weisel’s Night When I asked the school reading coach where all the Holocaust books were, she said “we do not teach the Holocaust because kids can’t relate to the story.” What? Kids can’t relate to genocide, hate, discrimination, and prejudice? Yes children can relate to these universal themes, we all can. Children would never learn about the evils of hatred during the Second World War? Why? What was it about the truth and perspective that seemed to escape us during the 2020/21 school year? Exactly why was all this great literature removed from our curriculum?

An anti-Semitic 5th-grade lesson plan in Washington state compared the treatment of Native Americans to Palestinians and their return to “sacred homelands” from “Israeli dominance,” KTTH reports. The lesson, which conservative radio host Jason Rantz compared to propaganda from terrorist organization Hamas, has been up for at least a decade. But after the Jason Rantz Show questioned the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), state officials immediately edited it out. The plan, titled “Independence: Revolution and U.S. Constitution in Indian Country,” encourages teachers to “compare the similarities between the struggles for Independence of the Indian Nations, the U.S. Colonies, and (if the teacher chooses) another contemporary struggle, such as the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.”

Baltimore: 41% of High School Students in City Schools Earn Below 1.0 GPA
Project Baltimore obtained a chart assembled by Baltimore City Schools. The chart shows the average GPA for every high school grade in the city – freshman through senior. In the first three quarters of this past school year, according to the chart, 41% of all Baltimore City high school students, earned below a 1.0 grade point average. In other words, nearly half of the 20,500 public high school students in Baltimore earned less than a D average. Is there a better argument for school choice?

Greenfield: How the Air Force Academy Makes the Disloyal Military Leaders of Tomorrow
In 2007, Mark Milley, then a mere colonel, was being interviewed about his experiences by Lynne Chandler Garcia. Now Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Milley is defending critical race theory while Garcia, an associate professor at the Air Force Academy, teaches it. The woman described by one student as “the worst professor I’ve had” back when she was teaching logic for the philosophy department at a community college recently came forward with a Washington Post op-ed announcing her enthusiasm for injecting Marxism into the Air Force. “I teach critical race theories to our nation’s future military leaders because it is vital that cadets understand the history of the racism that has shaped both foreign and domestic policy,” the historically illiterate logic teacher wrote. Garcia, whose bio states that she holds “military secret clearance”, is promoting a Marxist ideology in her “Politics, American Government, and National Security” course. The curriculum lists her course, which implicitly attacks the existence of America, as a ”contributor to the development and assessment of the National Security of the American Republic”.

Beyrer: Chinese Officials Share Video of Nuke Launch Against Japan
Chinese Communist Party officials shared a video threatening the launch of nuclear missiles against Japan. The video, which was originally posted Sunday by the Chinese military commentary website Liu Jun Tao Lue, declared China would “continuously” deploy nuclear arms against Japan if it came to the aid of Taiwan following a Chinese invasion. A Communist Party committee in central China shared the video after the original channel removed it. “When we liberate Taiwan, if Japan dares to intervene by force, even if it only deploys one soldier, one plane, and one ship, we will not only return reciprocal fire but also start a full-scale war against Japan,” the narrator says. “We will use nuclear bombs first.”

“The U.S. Department of the Treasury on Monday lifted sanctions on the export of gas to socialist Venezuela,” Breitbart reported on Tuesday, “a boon to the dictatorship in Caracas and its patron government in communist Cuba, which struggles to suppress mounting opposition and calls for the regime’s total abolition.” The lifting of sanctions is significant because “Caracas has further served as an economic lifeline for Havana, supplying much of the regime’s energy needs on credit, with extremely lenient terms.” As the U.S. announced the lifting of sanctions, the Miami Herald reported, Venezuela’s Maduro regime surrounded the home of opposition leader Juan Guaidó and arrested his former deputy Freddy Guevara. The U.S. move took the establishment media by surprise.

Lendon: US Air Force to send dozens of F-22 fighter jets to the Pacific amid tensions with China
Deploying a large number of F-22s for the exercise sends an immediate message to China at a time when relations are tense over Pacific flashpoints like Taiwan and the South China Sea, said Carl Schuster, a Hawaii-based defense analyst and a former director of operations at the US Pacific Command’s Joint Intelligence Center. Normal F-22 deployments consist of six to 12 aircraft, he said. “The Pacific Air Force is demonstrating that it can deploy as many or more fifth-generation aircraft into the theater on short notice than (China) currently has in its entire inventory,” he said.

Cubans have been marching in the streets for freedom, chanting “Libertad!” and demonstrating by the thousands that they’ve had enough of the sham called communism. They know economic disaster and political repression come with that territory. Yet today we’re peering through Alice’s looking glass as we watch these events unfold. Everything is backwards. Elites in the U.S. government, media, and Big Tech seem to be taking the side of the communist authorities who are clamping down on the protests, Soviet-style. Some journalists and Twitter have spun the idea that Cubans are taking to the streets mostly because of a desire for more awareness of COVID-19 cases and deaths. Please. There’s always hell to pay whenever you allow too much power into the hands of too few people. That’s the story of communism, in a nutshell. It’s a totalitarian system in which a little clique of elites has absolute power to dictate to everybody what they may say, how they may act, what goods and services they may receive, and with whom they may associate. In a word, communism is state-run slavery. The elites who push it stop at nothing to maintain their power. So it shouldn’t surprise us that communist regimes have murdered 100 million people in the twentieth century. That’s probably a gross underestimate, but you get the picture. It’s summed up well in Professor R.J. Rummel’s opening words to his book, “Death by Government”: “Power kills; absolute power kills absolutely.”

They’ve labeled themselves “progressives,” “social activists” and other innocuous-sounding terms because they know Americans still, by the grace of God, reject naked Marxism. More recently, they operate under such organizations as Black Lives Matter, cloaking their anti-capitalist designs in a facade of racial, environmental or gender justice. They have foisted their once-ridiculed notion of critical race theory into the forefront of our lives, forcing this dangerous philosophy into mainstream societal acceptance. Race agitation isn’t their only weapon.

In the words of Wikipedia’s co-founder, Larry Sanger who spoke to Freddie Sayers on LockdownTV, these volunteers would “battle it out”. This battle of ideas on Wikipedia’s platform formed a crucial part of the encyclopaedia’s commitment to neutrality, which according to Sanger, was abandoned after 2009. In the years since, on issues ranging from Covid to Joe Biden, it has become increasingly partisan, primarily espousing an establishment viewpoint that increasingly represents “propaganda”. This, says Sanger, is why he left the site in 2007, describing it as “broken beyond repair”.

Free expression is so central to liberty that its restriction by private megapolies is intolerable. Whether or not Donald Trump wins his suit against the big tech firms that censor him, he is right in principle. No matter the difficulties, paradoxes, and technicalities, these companies’ assaults on free expression have to be stopped by law. These outfits are not local cake makers who mustn’t be forced to celebrate what they find unholy. They are multi-national outfits with the wealth and power of sovereign states. When Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube act in concert to deny access to the President of the United States, or when a functioning monopoly like Amazon pulls a book for political reasons—as it did with When Harry Became Sally, Ryan T. Anderson’s thoughtful look at transgenderism—they are making it next to impossible for certain ideas and opinions to be widely expressed and known. That is a danger to our right to free speech. And that right has to be protected by the government because it is given to us by God. This is not, in other words, a First Amendment issue. The First Amendment protects our free speech from the government. But the government is still responsible for protecting those rights from other threats as well. It says so in the Declaration of Independence.
