Now, MSNBC legal analyst and Michigan Law Professor Barbara McQuade has gone one better. She told MSNBC viewers that Trump could be charged with manslaughter for his role in the January 6 Capitol riot. Just as Tribe declared his theory was “without any doubt, beyond a reasonable doubt, beyond any doubt,” McQuade appeared equally certain that this was a serious and possible charge. Anchor Nicolle Wallace was bouncing off comments of Rep. Liz Cheney on what the House might do to Trump when she turned to McQuade for legal analysis: . . . […] So let’s recap. Trump could be prosecuted for manslaughter because he had an “affirmative duty to take action to protect people”? The problem is that many officials had an affirmative duty to protect individuals on that day, including congressional leaders and officials.

The District of Columbia Court of Appeals on Tuesday said it would expedite former President Trump’s challenge of a defamation suit filed by writer E. Jean Carroll, who accused Trump of rape. Carroll, a longtime columnist for Elle magazine, accused Trump of raping her in a New York City department store in the 1990s. She sued the former president for defamation three years ago after he dismissed her allegations against him and accused her of lying.

Kagan responded to a request from Ward to stay the enforcement of the subpoena, per NBC News. The justice is responsible for emergency applications from that state and the committee has until Friday to respond to her ruling. “If Dr. Ward’s telephone and text message records are disclosed, congressional investigators are going to contact every person who communicated with her during and immediately after the tumult of the 2020 election. That is not speculation, it is a certainty,” Ward’s lawyers wrote in the emergency application, per the outlet.

Wisconsin judge has rejected a request from the state’s League of Women Voters to allow election officials to count absentee ballots with incomplete witness addresses. Dane County Circuit Judge Nia Trammell on Wednesday said the group’s request for a temporary injunction “would upend the status quo and not preserve it” and “frustrate the electoral process by causing confusion” less than two weeks before Election Day, CBS News reported.

Former Orange County Commissioner candidate Cynthia Harris filed a sworn affidavit in late August with the Secretary of State’s office alleging that illegal operations to collect third-party ballots have been going on for years in the Orlando area where voting activists are paid $10 for each ballot they collect.

She described an intricate system funded by liberal leaning organizations that dispatch ballot brokers into black communities to pressure voters to turn over their ballots. The $10 fee per ballot is divvied up among the parties who help complete the harvesting.

Inspectors were sent after numerous voting irregularities were reported after the 2020 election and 2022 March primary election and after the state began auditing Harris County’s 2020 election procedures. In a letter to Harris County Elections Administrator Clifford Tatum dated Oct. 18, Chad Ennis, drector of the Forensic Audit Division in the Secretary of State’s Office, said his office’s ongoing audit of Harris County “has revealed serious breaches of proper elections records management in the handling of Mobile Ballot Boxes (MBBs) during the November 2020 General Election.”

When the establishment can’t, or refuses, to understand the difference between plant food and pollution ordinary folk have a big problem. Moreover, the “problem” is a political tool used to control people. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, it is essential to life. Below 140 ppm, and life on our unique planet would collapse. The issue has been the promotion that certain molecules of CO2 emitted by modern industrial society can wreak havoc upon the Earth’s weather and climate. However, there is no evidence that variations in atmospheric concentrations cause climate change. The Vostok ice core records some 400,000 years of real climate change, and the observation is that there is little correlation and no causation. If anything, the record shows that warming leads CO2. The other problem has been the unrelenting intrusion upon freedom accompanied by tax grabbing via any fear bureaucrats can invent. Climate and COVID. Beyond the lack of evidence, the real problem has been to ignore that CO2 is the essential plant food and without plants all life would end. This makes the trace gas a necessity not a pollutant. And geologically at some 400 ppm, the atmospheric concentration is unusually low. At less than 150 ppm life as we enjoy it will begin to shut down.

In California, the embarrassing disconnect between the state’s whole-of-government approach in the fight against climate change versus the smoking reality of spectacular failure is seen where it counts: in the real world. A Wall Street Journal editorial on Oct. 23 cited a University of California study finding that California’s 2020 wildfire emissions “were two times higher than the state’s greenhouse gas reductions from 2003 to 2019.” The study cited “decades of fire suppression and underinvestment in preventive measures such as mechanical clearing or prescribed burns.” I noted as much several times, including here and here. The Journal’s editorial concludes, “Democrats in Sacramento seem incapable of political self-reflection. But it’s deeply ironic that their monomaniacal focus on cutting greenhouse gases emissions has resulted in more greenhouse gas emissions.” Now, many Democrats in Sacramento know what to do — they’re trying. But they find themselves increasingly bound by a metastasizing version of government set into motion a little more than a century ago, drawing from both Charles Darwin and John C. Calhoun.

The Q-Anon conspiracy theory is not that President Bill Clinton took twenty six plane flights with pedophile sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein between 2001 and 2003 just after he left office — because that actually happened too. Seems awfully convenient that the guy who seeks to profit most from sugary beverages also happens to profit from the drugs prescribed to treat the widespread illnesses caused by those sugary beverages. Quincy isn’t alone. Apple CEO Tim Cook is on Nike’s board, Johnson & Johnson Chairman Alex Gorsky is on Apple’s board, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is on Starbucks’ board, Nike Chairman Mark Parker is on Disney’s board, and the list goes on and on. This kind of corporate incest is by no means rare – it’s overwhelmingly the norm.

Vakil: Meadows ordered to testify in Georgia election probe

Circuit Judge Edward Miller ruled that Meadows needed to cooperate in the probe by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D), which is looking at possible 2020 election interference in the state by former President Trump and his allies. “I am going to find that the witness is material and necessary to the investigation and that the state of Georgia is assuring not to cause undue hardship to him,” Miller ruled, according to CNN.

[…] Alzheimer’s affects the parts of the brain directly responsible for thought processing, memory formation, and language. There are two types of Alzheimer’s: late-onset and early-onset. The former, far more common, generally begins after the age 65. The latter, sometimes referred to as young-onset Alzheimer’s, was once considered incredibly rare, but has become a common disease in the U.S. Between 2013 to 2017, according to the Health of America Report, the rate of new early-onset Alzheimer’s cases increased by 200 percent among individuals between the ages of 30 and 64. Anywhere between 300,000 and 360,000 Americans now live with early-onset Alzheimer’s. To understand why so many young Americans are struggling with this incapacitating illness, we must address the elephant at the dining room table.

White: 3 men convicted of supporting plot to kidnap Gov. Whitmer

Three men accused of supporting terrorism in the plot to kidnap Michigan’s governor were convicted of all charges Wednesday in a trial that focused on paramilitary drills and fierce contempt for government ahead of the 2020 election. Joe Morrison, his father-in-law Pete Musico, and Paul Bellar were found guilty of supplying “material support” for a terrorist act as members of a group known as the Wolverine Watchmen. […] Morrison, 28, Musico, 44, and Bellar, 24, were also convicted of a gun crime and membership in a gang. Prosecutors said the Wolverine Watchmen was a criminal enterprise.

Morrison, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, and Musico were emotional as they watched the verdicts by video away from the courtroom. Judge Thomas Wilson ordered all three to jail while they await sentencing on Dec. 15. The verdicts “are further proof that violence and threats have no place in our politics,” said Whitmer, who has not participated as a trial witness or spectator in the state or federal cases. “Those who seek to sow discord by pursuing violent plots will be held accountable under the law.”

Fox: Waukesha Killer Darrell Brooks Found Guilty on All Counts

After eighteen excruciating days in court during which Waukesha killer Darrell Brooks maddeningly delayed justice by defending himself with sovereign citizen rhetoric, a jury found him guilty of all charges. The charges included six counts of first-degree intentional homicide while using a dangerous weapon, 61 counts of recklessly endangering safety, six counts of hit-and-run causing death, and two counts of bail jumping — all felonies — and one count of misdemeanor battery.
