Sherman: US depopulation plan hits new milestone

A decades-old plan to stifle population growth in the US has reached new milestones which suggest the program is a resounding success. According to a Statista report last week, a quarter of US 40-year-olds have never been married, an historical high since data started being published in 1990. Most of these adults live alone, with only 22% saying they live with a partner. Nearly half (46%) of Black Americans say they are still single by 40, followed by Hispanics (27%), Whites (20%), and Asian Americans (17%). Marriage avoidance is part of a depopulation plan designed over 50 years ago in the Jaffe Memo. In 1969 an economist named Frederick Jaffe devised a set of proposals to limit US population growth which continue to be put into practice today. Jaffe, who at the time was vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, had created the plan at the request of Bernard Berelson. Berelson was the head of the Population Council, an organization founded by John D. Rockefeller III in 1952 to stem birth rates in the United States.

Just the News: U.S. Navy Helicopters Sink Three Houthi Ships Attacking Merchant Vessel in Red Sea

Early Sunday morning, the Maersk Hangzhou, a Singapore-flagged container ship, “issued a second distress call in less than 24 hours reporting being under attack by four Iranian-backed Houthi small boats,” U.S. Central Command said on X, formerly Twitter. The ships, which originated from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, fired upon the merchant vessel, and a contracted security team on the container ship returned fire upon the Houthi ships. Helicopters from the USS Eisenhower, which has been stationed in the area since October after Hamas attacked Israel, responded to the distress signal and the small boats fired at the U.S. helicopters.

How else to explain the Left’s obviously political persecution of the Orange pinata? It is clear the Left isn’t whacking him so much as goading us to do something useful to the Left. Something like the “insurrection”- as the Left refers to the unarmed protest that took place after the Orange pinata was removed from office by the Left. A central concern for the architects of the nascent American republic was that only the most qualified statesmen be eligible for the country’s highest office. In his Commentaries, Joseph Story elaborated that “[i]t is indispensable… that the president should be a natural born citizen of the United States […] [T]he general propriety of the exclusion of foreigners, in common cases, will scarcely be doubted by any sound statesman.” Joseph Story, who enjoyed over a thirty-year reign as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, famously elaborated the principles of the republicanism of Alexander Hamilton and John Marshall well into the mid-nineteenth century. His Commentaries specifically distinguished between natural born and naturalized citizens, the latter of whom were ineligible to run for president, despite qualifying for the privileges of citizenship. This view is supported by the best legal commentary of the day, Emmerich de Vattel’s Law of Nature and of Nations, a contemporaneous authority for the Founding Fathers on questions of citizenship. de Vattel’s work states that “[t]he natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.” The question of natural born citizenship is ergo fundamentally distinct from the ongoing issue of birthright citizenship, raised in the Fourteenth Amendment, which confers citizenship to “[a]ll persons born or naturalized in the United States.” The key word here is citizenship, not eligibility for the presidential office, which, as noted earlier, demands a much higher threshold for qualification.

The 8-7 majority decision overturns a law meant to prevent judges from overturning government decisions they deem to be unreasonable. Additionally, in a 12-3 decision, the Israeli Supreme Court decided that they had the authority to review basic laws and intervene in “exceptional cases” where the Knesset, or Israeli parliament, may exceed its authority. The high court said Monday on X, formerly Twitter, that the portion of the law that was overturned “causes severe and unprecedented harm to the core characteristics of Israel as a democratic State.”
