The Justice Department revealed on Wednesday that it had obtained a new search warrant to access the contents of attorney John Eastman’s phone, which it seized from the pro-Trump lawyer last month before transporting it to a lab in Virginia. The development, filed in court via Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Windom, came in response to a legal effort by Eastman to block investigators from “rummaging” through his files. The Justice Department had indicated that it would obtain a warrant that would limit investigators’ access to “evidence of specific federal crimes or specific types of material.” Windom indicated in the filing that the new warrant — dated July 12 — included a “filter protocol” to prevent investigators from accessing privileged material, and that the details of that process had been communicated to Eastman’s attorneys.

Over the course of at least six months, starting in December 2020, CDC officials regularly communicated with personnel at Twitter, Facebook, and Google over “vaccine misinformation.” At various times, CDC officials would flag specific posts by users on social media platforms such as Twitter as “example posts.” In one email to a CDC staffer, a Twitter employee said he is “looking forward to setting up regular chats” with the agency. Other emails show the scheduling of meetings with the CDC over how to best police alleged misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.

Thomas has been a lecturer at the school since 2011, but has now been removed as faculty from its website. His decision not to return to teaching comes in the wake of protests against conservative supreme court judges following the overturning of Roe v Wade in June 2022. The school was hit by a petition calling for the removal of Thomas, with more than 11,000 signatories. But George Washington University is home to just 1,600 students, and bosses there defended Thomas, insisting he was entitled to his views. It remains unclear why he has chosen to step down from his role – and whether he plans to return to it at a later date. […] The petition accused Thomas and his wife, Ginny, of ‘actively making life unsafe for thousands of students on our campus.’ It says that the overturning of Roe v Wade ‘stripped the right to bodily autonomy of people with wombs.’

U.S. District Eastern Kentucky Court Judge William Bertelsman on Wednesday threw out five media libel lawsuits brought forth by former Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann. In January 2019, Sandmann was at the center of a viral video that showed him face-to-face with Native American man Nathan Phillips as Phillips banged a drum and sang a traditional song. Sandmann was 16 years old at the time and wore a red “Make America Great Again” cap. […] While Sandmann filed several lawsuits against media outlets that defamed him at the time, Bertelsman dismissed cases against The New York Times, CBS, ABC, Gannett Co. Inc, and Rolling Stone, claiming that media assertions that Sandmann “blocked” Phillips were protected opinions at the time. […] Sandmann’s attorney Todd McMurty has said that he was “disappointed” by the decision and intends to file an appeal. Sandmann himself was quoted as saying, “We’re fully prepared to argue these cases in the 6th Circuit.”

A U.S. appeals court decided Tuesday that a Libyan man’s 22-year sentence for his role in the 2012 Benghazi attack wasn’t enough. Ahmed Abu Khatallah, 51, was originally convicted in 2018 on several counts for his involvement in the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on U.S. intelligence and diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya — where armed militants overwhelmed security at the U.S. mission and killed four Americans. Khatallah appealed his conviction, but the government cross-appealed — arguing the 22-year sentence a judge imposed was unreasonably low. You won’t be too surprised that we’re dealing with an Obama judge here.

Following Georgia’s miscue, Michigan had two stations on Sunday that did the same thing and somehow managed to publish the results “live”. Despite Channel 3 WWMT’s “regrettable human error”, nothing seems to have been learned from their peers. Two days since that “hiccup”, we now have a third station publishing results: According to Justin Barclay, on Tuesday, July 26th FOX 17 joined a growing list of organizations that have gone “live” with test election results that use realistic vote totals, accurate candidate names and races, and do not show a disclaimer of any sort suggesting this is a test:. . . […] At some point, someone needs to begin asking serious questions. The data mistakenly being published “live” is deeply concerning. Much like wildly inaccurate polling data, inaccurate results being posted could deter a voter from supporting a “lost cause”, such as the perception created that John Gibbs garnered 25% of the vote vs Peter Meijer at 75%, who is wildly unpopular with Trump supporters after voting to impeach him as his first official vote in Congress in January 2021.

The Army alone appears to have wasted at least $11 million recruiting and training soldiers only to then prevent them from being able to serve. All of this is going on while official Department of Defense data records only 95 military deaths due to COVID. Compare that to the 176 suicides in just the Army alone in one year alone. […] From the Defense Department’s own numbers it’s abundantly clear that there is no major COVID crisis within the military. There have been four times as many civilian deaths within the department than active duty military deaths. There’s no justification for the mandate and for wrecking the military and forcing large numbers of military personnel out of the services. Especially during a recruiting crisis. The threat to military readiness does not come from 95 deaths, but from the plot to purge thousands of active duty personnel over a political decision made by an unfriendly administration. […] Democrats are hollowing out another part of the federal government to make it an even bigger sinecure for their people while driving everyone who isn’t part of their political machine. Our nation’s heroes and our national security will pay the price for their treason.

That being the case, the researchers decided to investigate the role natural immunity is likely to play in restraining Covid-19 in the coming years. They sought to answer the following questions: . . . […] Prior infection with any variant, pre- or post-Omicron, was astoundingly effective at keeping future infections of any variant from threatening their hosts. For the first 14 months after the initial infection, effectiveness at preventing severe infection was approximately 100 percent, after which it slowly dropped to a still-impressive 97.3 percent. “Effectiveness of primary infection with any variant against reinfection with any variant was 69.4%,” the authors wrote.

These activists accuse the fossil fuel industry of profiting from the suffering of everyday people caused by fossil fuel emissions that are said to be wreaking havoc with the global climate. And they accuse government officials of complicity by not doing enough to force a very rapid transition to total reliance on renewable sources of clean energy, whatever the resulting huge costs and disastrous economic fallout turn out to be. […] According to data compiled by the National Snow & Ice Data Center (NSIDC), as of mid-July 2022 there is still plenty of sea ice in the Arctic – extending 3.25 million square miles. “The decline rate of the extent through the first half of July was near the 1981 to 2010 average,” NSIDC reported, adding that the sea ice extent on July 17th was the highest since 2015. Jim Hansen, the scientist who in 1988 predicted the greenhouse effect in testimony before Congress, was quoted as saying back then to a reporter that the West Side Highway in New York City “will be under water” in twenty years. I live in Manhattan and can attest to the fact that the West Side Highway is still very much above water and in use in 2022.

A screenshot of a language guide table was shared to Twitter on Tuesday titled “Suggested Terms in Breastfeeding and Human Lactation.” On the left-hand side, a column labeled “traditional terms” includes “breast milk,” while a middle column of “Gender-inclusive terms” suggests “father’s milk” as a possible alternative. “This document was sent to me by a friend whose wife is a hospital nurse for new moms and their babies,” evolutionary biologist Colin Wright Wright told The Post Millennial. “He said this new ‘inclusive terminology’ is being implemented at her hospital, and that nurses and other health professionals are being required to ask each patient what terms they wish to have used when discussing their care.”

The Chicago Tribune, in an article about “kid-friendly drag performances,” compared them to productions created by Disney. The Tribune posited that “extremist groups have seized” on such events and described them as inappropriate and harmful to children. “Kid-friendly drag performances are modified to be appropriate for children — more akin to Disney than anything risqué,” The Tribune celebrated. The Tribune cheered a drag queen named Muffy Fishbasket, who calls himself Miss Muffy for performances in front of kids, saying he appeared at Andersonville’s Midsommarfest in June, “eliciting laughs and giggles from the crowd of children and adults.”

This should be a grave concern because it directly undermines the electoral system established by our Constitution. If not stopped, the American system of presidential elections will be changed potentially forever. The National Popular Vote bill would guarantee the presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It has been enacted by 15 state legislatures plus Washington, D.C., and passed in 41 legislative chambers in 24 states. For the proposal to become the law of the land, enough states totaling at least 270 electoral votes would be required to enact the law, and states would then commit their electoral votes to the candidate with the most popular votes nationally, regardless of which candidate won at the state level. Two weeks ago, CTH warned everyone that Joe Manchin’s torpedoing of the $500 billion Green New Deal senate spending program was a head fake; he was always going to sign up to expand the control of the federal government over energy use. Today Manchin and Chuck Schumer made it official.

The people operating the “energy transition” levers will get $370 billion to spend on bigger windmills, more solar panels and new energy programs to eliminate coal, oil and natural gas. They will pay for it by raising taxes and hiring a new army of IRS enforcement officials. In exchange for his vote, the federal government will pay increased health insurance subsidies for West Virginians and pass out lower priced medications. There you go. Exactly as predicted. Energy inflation will continue as the energy transition becomes a permanent feature. Ironically, Joe Manchin made them change the name to “The Inflation Reduction Act,” and pushed the effective dates for all renewals past the 2024 election (where he plans to be a candidate against Gavin Newsom).

The Federal Reserve approved another steep hike in its benchmark interest rate on Wednesday, pushing forward with a plan to tackle decades-high inflation despite fears the moves could trigger a recession. The rate-making Federal Open Market Committee announced the hike of 0.75%, or 75 basis points, after a two-day meeting. The Fed has now hiked rates by three-quarters of a percentage point for the second straight month — with the previous 0.75% increase marking the first of its kind since 1994.

Worse still – the Feds action on Wednesday will do nothing to stop America from slipping back into the dark stagflationary days of the 1970s and early 1980s. The Federal Reserve believes its role in fighting inflation is to raise interest rates, depressing the economy and stopping people from buying the goods and services they need, at a time when the nation is already teetering on the brink of recession. But putting people out of work and deliberately crippling America’s economic growth is not the way to get back to a vibrant economy. It’s a cure to the wrong disease.

In French, a “bidonville” is a shantytown. A “bidon” is a large container, like the giant yellow vegetable oil bottles used to carry drinking water in developing countries. I’ve seen plenty of shantytowns in cities from India to Togo; they are an unfortunate consequence of rapid urbanization. What surprised me when I came home to Washington, D.C., a few months ago was seeing shantytowns both outside the State Department, where my old office was, and Union Station, near my new office. In America under President Joe Biden, the word “Bidenville” is beginning to gain traction as a term for a waste-filled, insalubrious tent city inhabited by what the left calls “people experiencing homelessness,” who often suffer from an unfortunate combination of drug addiction and mental illness. Shantytowns aren’t new to America. During the Great Depression, they were ironically called Hoovervilles after President Herbert Hoover.

However, at that time, Hoovervilles comprised able-bodied people who were out of work due to the worst economic crisis and highest unemployment in U.S. history. Now, unemployment is low and entry-level jobs go begging. The Bidenvilles of today are filled more by ideology and incompetence than economic duress.

As extremist Biden-Harris policies continue to swamp America with illegal aliens, the regime, which has already lavished millions of dollars on a radical George Soros-funded group, may give the so-called social justice outfit another billion taxpayer dollars to prevent illegal aliens from being deported. The illegals benefiting from this largesse are unaccompanied alien children (UACs) who supposedly have no parents or legal guardians in the U.S. to take care of them. Many UACs have ties to MS-13 or other gangs, then-chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chuck Grassley, an Iowa Republican, warned in 2017.

The package includes $52 billion in funding for U.S. companies to produce computer chips as well as a 25 percent tax credit for companies who invest in the market. It includes $39 billion for chip manufacturing companies to expand and modernize their technologies and $11 billion for the Commerce Department for research and development. It includes another $81 billion for the National Science Foundation. […] Critics have likened the spending to ‘corporate welfare’ and have said the money would be better spent on other priorities or not at all. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said he doesn´t hear from people about the need to help the semiconductor industry.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her leadership team made the decision in a closed-door meeting that included several factions of the caucus that still had concerns with elements of the package. Earlier Wednesday morning, Democrats did not have the votes to pass each piece of the package — leadership can only afford to lose four votes if all Republicans oppose it. Why not pass the pieces that can get the votes?

An international cabal of scientists who believe in their own righteousness. Scientific journals, conferences, and grants that suppress dissent. I’m not describing Covid, global warming, or any other highly politicized scientific debate. I’m talking about Alzheimer’s research. The implications for the rest of science, policy, and education, however, are deep and troubling. Everyone in the United States knows about Alzheimer’s. Audiences across the country have read (or at least seen) “The Notebook.” More recently, “The Father,” starring Anthony Hopkins, won two Academy Awards and made basically everyone cry. The reason so many of us cried is that so many know someone who’s suffered from this disease. We know what it is, we know what it does — and we know it’s terrible.

All that is to say we care about Alzheimer’s like we care about cancer, heart disease, and others that have touched us personally. Did you know, however, that despite being officially diagnosed over a century ago; despite all the grants, institutes, and money poured into it; and despite Americans’ personal interest in solving it, we haven’t discovered a single cure? Zero. We don’t even have any treatments, really. Why not? To start, we might have been focused on the wrong thing.

A US defense contractor and his wife who lived for decades under the identities of two dead Texas children have been charged with identity theft and conspiring against the government. Walter Glenn Primrose and Gwynn Darle Morrison, both in their 60s, allegedly lived for decades under the names Bobby Edward Fort and Julie Lyn Montague – the stolen names of infants who died decades ago – according to federal court records unsealed in Honolulu. The couple face charges of aggravated identity theft, conspiracy to commit an offense against the US and false statement in an application for a passport after they were arrested Friday in Kapolei on the island of Oahu. Prosecutors are seeking to have the couple held without bail, which could indicate the case is about more than fraudulently obtaining drivers’ licenses, passports and Defense Department credentials. Those documents helped Primrose get secret security clearance with the US Coast Guard and as a defense contractor and old photos show the couple wearing uniforms of the KGB, the former Russian spy agency, Assistant US Attorney Thomas Muehleck said in court papers. Faded Polaroids of each in uniform were included in the motion to have them held.

Fairbanks: Teenage Girls Arrested for Hate Crime After Brutally Beating White Grandmother on a NYC Bus

Two black teenage girls have been arrested for a hate crime afterbrutally attacking a 57-year-old white woman on a New York City bus. The New York City Police Department arrested a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl for the attack on Tuesday morning. The victim, Jill LeCroix, has three bi-racial children and is a grandmother of five. Both of the girls are charged with two counts of assault while carrying out a hate crime and aggravated harassment while carrying out a hate crime. Their names have not been made public due to their ages.
