Leaked Audio: Kevin McCarthy Considered Telling Trump To ‘Resign’ After Capitol Riot
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) denied Thursday that he considered asking former President Donald Trump to resign following the January 6 Capitol riot, but audio released Thursday evening appears to contradict that statement. The New York Times first reported Thursday morning that McCarthy had contemplated calling on the president to resign, prompting McCarthy’s office to issue a flat denial of the story. But MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow aired an audio recording Thursday evening which cast doubt on the House minority leader’s claim. “My gut tells me no,” McCarthy reportedly said during a private call with Republicans, responding to Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney’s question about whether Trump would resign, according to audio aired on MSNBC. “I am seriously thinking about having that conversation with him tonight. I haven’t talked to him in a couple days. From what I know of him, I mean you guys all know him, too, do you think he’d ever back away? […] The news prompted Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz to accuse Cheney of recording McCarthy “for the New York Times” on Friday morning, warning McCarthy, “You should have trusted my instincts, not your own.” […] “Representative Cheney did not record or leak the tape and does not know how the reporters got it,” the spokesman said.

There have always, for instance, been rare individuals who did not precisely fit into the categories of either man or woman, but never before in human history did these exceptions lead to biological males competing in, and dominating, female athletic tournaments. There is more than compassion or tolerance at work here. America’s political and intellectual elites claim not to know what distinguishes male from female. Just a few weeks ago, the newest justice to the United States Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson, stated flatly that she could not define what a woman is. This newly discovered ignorance is, supposedly, derived from superior scientific insight. Our technology advances, but our wisdom diminishes. […] The founders, like Aristotle, appealed to the ordinary understanding of moral and political reality that all rational adults possess to inform their deliberations. COVID and the Tyranny of Faucian ScienceToday, not only judges but members of Congress, government bureaucrats, and our entire ruling class defer to science as the only legitimate ground of knowledge or political authority. This is a grave problem, as was revealed in the government’s botched response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As Fauci sees it, “those types of things really are the purview of the CDC” because “this is a public health issue, and for a court to come in, and if you look at the rationale for that, it really is not particularly firm,” he said with a sort of nervous giggle. “We are concerned about that, about courts getting involved in things that are unequivocally public health decisions,” he continued, in a more serious tone. “I mean this is a CDC issue. It should not have been a court issue.”

It’s possible the ailment can morph into Long-Me-itis, and that’s when things get worse. The ailment overtakes the superego and then, informed only by the ego, journeys from the brain to ooze into one’s environs. Me-itis manifests itself in the form of walls filled with photos taken with celebrities, politicos, gifts, honorary degrees, and bobblehead dolls of … yourself.

Though travelers entering the U.S. through legal ports of entry will continue to be forced to show proof of vaccination, no such mandate applies to the record number of illegal immigrants the Biden administration is processing at the southern border.The DHS announcement extends Title 19 authority to continue enforcing vaccine mandates for noncitizen visitors.
