(April 10 – April 16) Holy Week, in the Christian church, the week between Palm Sunday and Easter, observed with special solemnity as a time of devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ. In the Greek and Roman liturgical books, it is called the Great Week because great deeds were done by God during this week. The name Holy Week was used in the 4th century by St. Athanasius, bishop of Alexandria, and St. Epiphanius of Constantia. Originally, only Good Friday and Holy Saturday were observed as holy days. Later, Wednesday was added as the day on which Judas plotted to betray Jesus, and by the beginning of the 3rd century the other days of the week had been added. The pre-Nicene church concentrated its attention on the celebration of one great feast, the Christian Passover, on the night between Saturday and Easter Sunday morning. By the later 4th century the practice had begun of separating the various events and commemorating them on the days of the week on which they occurred: Judas’s betrayal and the institution of the Eucharist on Maundy Thursday; the Passion and death of Christ on Good Friday; his burial on Saturday; and his Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Holy Week is celebrated from Sunday, April 10 to Sunday, April 17 in 2022.

(April 15 – April 22) Passover, Hebrew Pesaḥ or Pesach, in Judaism, holiday commemorating the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt and the “passing over” of the forces of destruction, or the sparing of the firstborn of the Israelites, when the Lord “smote the land of Egypt” on the eve of the Exodus. Passover begins with the 15th and ends with the 21st (or, outside of Israel and among Reform Jews, the 22nd) day of the month of Nisan (March or April). On these seven (or eight) days, all leaven, whether in bread or other mixture, is prohibited, and only unleavened bread, called matzo, may be eaten. The matzo symbolizes both the Hebrews’ suffering while in bondage and the haste with which they left Egypt in the course of the Exodus. Passover is also sometimes called the Festival of Unleavened Bread. Passover is celebrated from Saturday, April 16 to Saturday, April 23 in 2022. The first Seder will be on April 15 after nightfall, and the second Seder will be on April 16 after nightfall.

Special Counsel John Durham requested in a Wednesday filing that a federal judge review claims of attorney-client privilege issued by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee and several other entities. The Clinton campaign and DNC have withheld documents issued by the Perkins Coie law firm under claims of attorney-client privilege, Durham explained in the filing submitted as part of former Perkins Coie attorney Michael Sussmann’s indictment for allegedly lying to the FBI. He argues that the documents should not be covered because they relate to Perkins Coie’s hiring of Fusion GPS to conduct opposition research on then-candidate Donald Trump and not the law firm’s provision of legal advice.

Keller: Supreme Court refuses to hear Kim Gardner appeal in Eric Greitens records case
It will be up to a St. Louis judge to decide how long Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner has to produce records sought by a journalist considered an ally by former Gov. Eric Greitens.
The Missouri Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to hear a last-ditch appeal by Gardner of an order giving her 30 days to deliver records sought by John Solomon, editor-in-chief of the conservative Just the News website, in a 2019 Sunshine Law request. The court refused to review a Jan. 25 decision by the Eastern District Court of Appeals, and on Thursday the appeals court formally delivered its decision to Circuit Judge Christopher McGraugh. “My expectation is that he will give the other side at least 30 days to comply with the order, but he could shorten or lengthen that if he deems it appropriate,” attorney David Roland, who represents Solomon, wrote in an email to The Independent. “We are not required to file anything in particular to get the ball rolling once it is back in front of the trial court.” On Twitter, Greitens wrote “We caught them” over a photo of Gardner and billionaire George Soros, and that she would have to turn over her communications with him and “Missouri political insiders related to her false case against Governor Eric Greitens.

Cohen: Judge appears likely to allow January 6-related candidacy challenge against Marjorie Taylor Greene
A federal judge signaled Friday that she’ll likely allow a group of Georgia voters to move forward with their constitutional challenge against GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, which claims she can’t run for reelection because she aided the January 6 insurrectionists. Federal Judge Amy Totenberg of the Northern District of Georgia said during a lengthy hearing that she has “significant questions and concerns” about a recent ruling in a similar case, which blocked the same challenge against Rep. Madison Cawthorn, a North Carolina Republican. A group of Georgia voters, backed by a coalition of constitutional scholars and liberal activists, lodged the challenge against Greene last month with state election officials. Greene then filed her own lawsuit in federal court, asking Totenberg to shut down the state-level proceedings. SB 184, the Alabama Vulnerable Child Protection Act, criminalizes prescribing minors under age 19 puberty blockers or other drugs “intended to alter the minor child’s gender or delay puberty.” The bill, sponsored by Republican state Sen.
