While it stakes its claim through intellectual-moral pretense, it holds power by one of the oldest and most prosaic of means: patronage and promises thereof. Like left-wing parties always and everywhere, it is a “machine,” that is, based on providing tangible rewards to its members. Such parties often provide rank-and-file activists with modest livelihoods and enhance mightily the upper levels’ wealth. Because this is so, whatever else such parties might accomplish, they must feed the machine by transferring money or jobs or privileges — civic as well as economic — to the party’s clients, directly or indirectly. This, incidentally, is close to Aristotle’s view of democracy. Hence our ruling class’s standard approach to any and all matters, its solution to any and all problems, is to increase the power of the government — meaning of those who run it, meaning themselves, to profit those who pay with political support for privileged jobs, contracts, etc. Hence more power for the ruling class has been our ruling class’s solution not just for economic downturns and social ills but also for hurricanes and tornadoes, global cooling and global warming. A priori, one might wonder whether enriching and empowering individuals of a certain kind can make Americans kinder and gentler, much less control the weather. But there can be no doubt that such power and money makes Americans ever more dependent on those who wield it.

Raymond Ibrahim  contributor to Frontpage Magazine reports on an interview Glenn Beck gave to Tucker Carlson about his attempts to rescue Christians in Afghanistan:  “I don’t know why we have open borders and closed airports,” Beck concluded his interview. While it is easy for all sorts of illegals to cross over the porous US/Mexico border, “one group of people”— he said referring to persecuted Christians—is not even allowed to enter airports, and are abandoned to be “raped, exploited and crucified or set on fire by terrorists,” said Beck, before adding, “There seems to be a pattern with the Biden administration.”

Never has there been so little diversity within America’s upper crust. Always, in America as elsewhere, some people have been wealthier and more powerful than others. But until our own time America’s upper crust was a mixture of people who had gained prominence in a variety of ways, who drew their money and status from different sources and were not predictably of one mind on any given matter. […] Today’s ruling class, from Boston to San Diego, was formed by an educational system that exposed them to the same ideas and gave them remarkably uniform guidance, as well as tastes and habits. These amount to a social canon of judgments about good and evil, complete with secular sacred history, sins (against minorities and the environment), and saints. Using the right words and avoiding the wrong ones when referring to such matters — speaking the “in” language — serves as a badge of identity. Regardless of what business or profession they are in, their road up included government channels and government money because, as government has grown, its boundary with the rest of American life has become indistinct. Many began their careers in government and leveraged their way into the private sector. Some, e.g., Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, never held a non-government job. Hence whether formally in government, out of it, or halfway, America’s ruling class speaks the language and has the tastes, habits, and tools of bureaucrats. It rules uneasily over the majority of Americans not oriented to government.

My rereading of America’s Ruling Class helped me better understand the big question of why corporate America is all-in on Black Lives Matter. It came to me where Codevilla explains the point of those multi-thousand-page reconciliation bills. If you are a corporation or a professional association you’d better be on-board with the rulers’ agenda, or you won’t get your carve-out in the 3,000-page Build Back Better bill: “nice little business you got here…” Codevilla’s piece also explained to me why all the various professional associations are forcing their members to spout this week’s party line on COVID or lose their accreditation. Did you know that the AMA has an exclusive government contract to determine all those medical billing codes? “Nice little association you got here…” […]  I notice, after reading America’s Ruling Class all over again, that my maxims about government apply in spades.

Folks, this looks like a complete con job, pushed by the Biden administration to provide cover for corporations to create a mandate on their own.  Meaning the intent of the announcement was to create momentum for increased vaccinations, while the Biden regime never did or does intend to use OSHA as a national enforcement mechanism.

The early stages of the “Ballot Supply Chain” for mail-in voting require the list of valid voters, ballot printing, and blank ballot distribution. USPS is the sole distributor for every blank ballot in America. However, almost every public disclosure by USPS is about ballot collection. They deploy “extraordinary measures” like Priority Express Mail services, but only to collect ballots, not to deliver them. They hold RSVP hand-off events for the public, like the one in Maricopa County, to promote ballot transfer to election officials. But they have few measures in place to ensure only one blank ballot goes to one legitimate voter. Every mail ballot is distributed to voters through one of the 308 USPS Processing & Distribution Centers (P&DC) in America. The completed ballots collected by USPS are returned to these same P&DC locations. To reduce costs, USPS has been consolidating the P&DC centers since 2011, eliminating 179 of the original 487. These centers are critical to elections and have hundreds of designated employees called Political and Election Mail Coordinators. Each USPS report, including the 2020 Post Election Analysis, is a marketing piece to make Americans “feel good” that ballots are returned swiftly to election officials. They say little about securing delivery of blank ballots to voters. If not for Senator Ron Johnson, USPS would have never disclosed 3 tubs of undelivered ballots were found inside the Milwaukee P&DC.

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo called Friday for closer business ties with China even as Beijing increases its military muster. “It’s just an economic fact” that the United States must trade with China, Raimondo told the Wall Street Journal. “I actually think robust commercial engagement will help to mitigate any potential tensions.” Raimondo also said that climate-change cooperation with China may prove “fruitful” for the United States. Biden climate czar John Kerry, whom Chinese officials in September relegated to a Zoom conference as they met in person with Taliban leaders, has made similar comments. As commerce secretary, Raimondo plays a vital role in managing international trade, including with Chinese companies often flagged for national security concerns. National security experts panned Raimondo’s call as out of touch with reality.

Democratic Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema will likely support the Biden Administration and Democrats’ $3.5 trillion tax plan, causing Americans to pay more in corporate taxes in Arizona than in China. The bill was derived from President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Plan, and it would be the largest spending bill in American history. If the bill passes, the federal-state corporate tax rate in Arizona would jump to over 30 percent, while China’s tax rate would be around 25 percent. That’s not including those enterprises in certain industries supported heavily by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which could receive a tax rate as low as 10 to 15 percent. Additionally, the bill would cause capital gains tax in Arizona to rise up over 35 percent, while China’s would ring in around 20 percent. This data was compiled by Americans for Tax Reform.

Schnell: Arizona Democratic Party passes resolution criticizing Sinema on filibuster, reconciliation
The Arizona state Democratic Party overwhelmingly passed a resolution on Saturday that criticizes Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) for her opposition to eliminating the filibuster to pass legislation key to the party and for her stance on Democrats’ $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill. The resolution passed in the committee in a 415-99 vote, according to Progress Arizona, an organization that advocates for progressives in the state. The measure warned Sinema that the state party will “closely watch” her upcoming votes, and if she does not vote for the massive Democratic budget reconciliation package, it will “go officially on record” and “give Senate Sinema a vote of NO CONFIDENCE.”
