THE FBI, THE MICHIGAN KIDNAP PLOT, AND JANUARY 6. You should read this new story in Buzzfeed News on the plot to kidnap Michigan’s Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer. It concerns the arrests last October of more than a dozen men, connected with Michigan militia groups, who are charged with planning to grab Whitmer and put her on some sort of “trial,” in part out of anger at her lockdown orders during the COVID pandemic. But the news in the Buzzfeed story is not really about the suspects. It’s about the FBI. As it turned out, the bureau had deeply infiltrated the group, with perhaps more FBI informants and undercover agents working the case than there were alleged conspirators. But the FBI did not limit themselves to just watching and listening as the suspects allegedly plotted. “Some of those informants, acting under the direction of the FBI, played a far larger role than has previously been reported,” Buzzfeed’s Ken Bensinger and Jessica Garrison write. “Working in secret, they did more than just passively observe and report on the actions of the suspects. Instead, they had a hand in nearly every aspect of the alleged plot, starting with its inception. The extent of their involvement raises questions as to whether there would have even been a conspiracy without them.”

As House leaders engage in a standoff over Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Jan. 6 panel, a poll found that likely voters are more supportive of investigating the social injustice demonstrations that roiled the nation last summer. A supermajority of likely voters (66%) want the Black Lives Matter and antifa protests investigated, while a majority do not support Pelosi’s inquiry into the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports poll. Just 49% support Pelosi’s House Jan. 6 panel, and majorities of Blacks and Hispanics back an investigation into the protests that followed the murder of George Floyd by a police officer. The demonstrations sparked violence in a number of U.S. cities.

Senate Democrats accused Republicans Wednesday of a “shameless, cynical” ploy that would damage the economy and the government’s credit rating after the chamber’s GOP leader said his party would vote against raising the federal debt limit. In the latest chapter of a broad budget battle likely to linger well into autumn, Democrats reacted after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said he believes all Republicans will vote against renewing Washington’s ability to borrow money. The government, which has been running huge budget deficits for years, needs to borrow cash constantly to pay its debts, but its legal authority to do that expires July 31. An expiration of the government’s borrowing authority could lead to a federal default, which has never happened. Analysts say a default could have a devastating impact on the economy, driving up interest rates, lowering the federal credit rating and driving up the government’s borrowing costs.

Senators across the political spectrum are banding together to rollback several tools in Joe Biden’s foreign policy toolbox. On Tuesday, the delegation made of of GOP Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) introduced the National Security Powers Act. The legislation would make it easier for lawmakers to reverse a president’s foreign policy decisions, including war authorizations, weapons sales and emergency declarations. Additionally, the bill repeals all existing war authorizations and would automatically cut off funding for military operations that do not have congressional approval.

Rodriguez: Harris to meet with DACA recipients after federal court ruling
Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday will meet with recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and immigrant advocates as the White House urges Congress to move quickly on immigration reform — potentially in a budget reconciliation bill Democrats hope to vote on this year.
Harris will meet with 11 DACA recipients, current applicants for the program and immigrant rights leaders, a senior White House official told POLITICO. The meeting comes after a federal judge in Texas on Friday ruled that DACA is unlawful and blocked the Biden administration from approving new applications for the Obama-era program, intensifying the sense of urgency among Democrats, immigrant advocates and other DACA supporters.

President Biden on Wednesday said Republicans are lying if they try to paint him and the Democratic Party as anti-police. “They’re lying,” he said during a CNN town hall. “We have to change police conduct, we have to have rules where things are open, we have to have rules where you can be able to determine … how many times a cop has violated the rules, and be able to have access to what’s going on at a police department so the Justice Department can get involved in whether or not they have to change the pattern or practice.”

Ross: George Soros Funnels $1M To Defund the Police as Violent Crime Surges
George Soros is funneling money to support defunding the police, a cause that cost Democrats politically in the 2020 election as violent crime spiked across the country. Soros gave $1 million to Color Of Change PAC on May 14, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission. It is the progressive billionaire’s largest political contribution of the 2021 election cycle and his first to the political action committee since 2016. The contribution from one of the Democratic establishment’s biggest donors could further undercut the party’s efforts to downplay allegations that it backs defunding police departments. Republicans have hammered Democrats over their position on policing as violent crime has skyrocketed nationwide. As part of the effort to beat back the allegations, the White House has accused Republicans of supporting the defund movement—a claim the liberal Washington Post gave “three Pinocchios” earlier this month.

Viral video posted earlier this week shows two men carrying armfuls of jeans, jackets and other apparel as they casually saunter out of a TJ Maxx in the Granada Hills section of the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles. ‘That looks great,’ one man is heard saying in the video as the two men head toward the door with the stolen loot, making no haste as they leave. […] Shoplifting cases have been on the rise in cities across California in recent years. Many say the spike began in 2014 after the passage of Proposition 47, which downgraded charges of property theft of less than $950 in value from a felony to a misdemeanor.

A Canadian doctor claims he has seen blood clotting in the majority of his patients who have had COVID-19 jabs and has issued a “grim” outlook that the worst is “yet to come” due to potential “permanent” damage caused by the injections. “And so, I’m still trying to accumulate more information. But on the ones I have so far, 62 percent of them have evidence of clotting, which means that these blood clots are not rare. It means that the majority of people are getting blood clots that they have no idea that they’re even having,” said Dr. Charles Hoffe of Lytton, British Columbia, in an interview with Vancouver-based Christian broadcaster Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson last week. “So, Laura-Lynn, the most alarming thing about this is that there are some parts of your body, like your heart and your brain and spinal cord and lungs, which cannot regenerate. When those tissues are damaged by blood vessels, they are permanently damaged.”

Steiber: Spike in Death Reports Following COVID-19 Vaccination Caused by a Mistake: CDC
A sudden jump in the post-COVID-19 vaccination death reports is not correct and was the result of an “error,” according to a U.S. health agency. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday said a passive reporting system it runs with the Food and Drug Administration had received 12,313 reports of death among those who received a COVID-19 vaccine. That was a sharp increase from the previous number of reports, 6,079. The jump would have effectively doubled the percentage of post-vaccination death reports, from 0.0018 percent to 0.0036 percent. But a CDC spokeswoman told The Epoch Times the number the agency has displayed on its website is not correct.

These, in fact, are not examples of real freedom at all. Rather, they are about “fundamental ideas of good and evil, of life and death.”
