HALPERIN: Biden’s “Garbage” Gaffe Resonates Because EVERYONE KNOWS Democrats Believe it to be True
Mark Halperin, Dan Turrentine, and Sean Spicer, at the top of 2Way TV’s “Morning Meeting” on Wednesday, react to the controversy over President Biden appearing to refer to Trump supporters as “garbage.”
“I think he meant ‘his supporters.’ With all due respect to my fellow Democrats, I do not think he was just talking about the comedian,” Dan Turrentine said. “Just as the comic’s statement plays to a stereotype of Republicans, that Democrats are jumping all over, this plays to the stereotype that Democrats and patronizing and condescending — and I think it is what Biden really believes. It is hard to win the other side’s voters when you have no respect for them.”
“Let’s be clear, it is what almost every Democrat elected official actually believes,” Halperin added.
Sean Spicer said: “I have the most experience mangling words and screwing up on a public stage, so… We played the video, he said it. He can say he didn’t mean it, or he screwed up but to start to play the Tim Walz grammar game is insane.”
“That was the 2020 race too,” Spicer added. “He said the only reason he ran was because of Charlottesville. He didn’t run because of policy. So, I don’t know why this is that shocking.”
