That the DNC footage that the FBI presented to the public was both incomplete and degraded raises troubling questions. At what point was the surveillance footage degraded? Was it degraded originally or did it somehow become degraded once the surveillance footage reached the FBI? Based on a conversation with a very trusted government source, we learned that a government official (not from the FBI) investigating aspects of the pipe bomb case obtained access to and viewed 45 minutes of DNC surveillance footage early in the year 2022. The footage in question was from the evening of January 5th, and footage from the DNC cameras of January 6th that would have depicted the discovery of the DNC bomb (without the blind spots of Capitol Police footage) had already been deleted. The government official in question reported that the DNC footage he or she watched clearly depicted the pipe bomber actually planting the bomb, and did not note any problem with frame rate or clarity of picture. The government official did not, as one would expect, obtain this footage from the FBI. Instead, the official watched the footage at the DNC building. […] Finally, there’s the odd fact that the government official in question had to go to the DNC to watch the DNC footage, rather than the FBI. If the FBI were in possession of the footage wouldn’t that be the logical place for another government official to go to watch the footage? […] This investigation is in its end stages and the people responsible for the cover-up are going to get desperate. On the Friday afternoon before Labor Day, the Office of Special Counsel (OSC), the federal investigative and prosecutorial agency that oversees prohibited personnel practices, proposed new rules that would change how whistleblower lawsuits are handled by the federal government. The proposed rules would empower whistleblowers and enable their claims to become public before any investigation is concluded. Notably, one change would require that OSC place on its website the existence of allegations of censorship or efforts to distort, misrepresent, or suppress information. Currently, such information would not be made public without a finished investigation with OSC’s findings. The proposed rules sound reasonable enough. After all, an increase in transparency, especially when things like censorship are involved, is generally a positive step forward. But the story doesn’t end there. We must look at these changes in the context of several other efforts in recent months apparently intended to “Trump-proof” the federal government.

So what? What Bier and most libertarians fail to emphasize in their analysis is not merely the quantity of economic growth caused by immigration but the quality of that growth. We should not be surprised. Adhering to orthodox dogma at the expense of real-world consequences is just another trait libertarians share with socialists, who are their equally doctrinaire, equally out of touch supposed ideological antagonists. […] That California politicians like Kamala Harris have succeeded in selling this betrayal to the American people as necessary to solve the twin crises of “climate” and “equity” is a con job for the ages.

A mysterious group appears to be sending absentee ballot applications across Michigan, some of which claim authorization from Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. “All Michigan voters can securely vote from home by using the enclosed application to request a vote-by-mail ballot,” reads a mailer that says it was “paid for” by a group called The Voter Project Michigan. “Return the enclosed vote-by-mail ballot application today.” The mailer, addressed to the mother of Michigan Republican State Rep. Brad Paquette, is marked with what appears to be Gov. Whitmer’s signature. Paquette told The Federalist the mailer arrived at his mother’s old address and was addressed to her maiden name — with which she registered to vote in 1979. Paquette said his mother’s registration with this name is now inactive.

My premise is that actions speak louder than words, and we can make a sound judgement about Trump by considering his conduct from the time he entered politics to the end of his first term in office. Here we’ll see that Trump displayed all the largeness and audacity and even pugnaciousness of a Caesar, but he didn’t do anything tyrannical—indeed by many objective measures he did the country a lot of good. Let me put it another way. If Trump were a dictator while he was President, then he was the most incompetent dictator in the history of the world. Dictators control the police agencies of government; Trump was relentlessly pursued by them. He didn’t run the agencies; he spent much of time running away from them. Moreover, dictators don’t lose elections because they control them and rig them in their favor. It is conceivable that the Chinese Communists are voted out of power in China? That the mullahs in Iran lose an election? Tyrants ensure they stay in power. They certainly never relinquish power voluntarily; typically, they have to be ousted by force. None of this applies to Trump.

Republican Nebraska State Sen. Mike McDonnell announced Monday that he opposes changing the state’s current system, where presidential candidates are awarded one electoral vote for each congressional district they win, plus two votes for whoever wins the whole state, to a winner-take-all allocation. McDonnell’s refusal to back the change would allow Vice President Kamala Harris to lose every Sub Belt swing state and still defeat Trump 270 to 268 if she pulls off victories in the Rust Belt and Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. Without McDonnell’s support, Nebraska Republicans have no path to overcome a filibuster blocking the change to how electoral votes are allocated, according to the Nebraska Examiner. With Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (DIE) and Critical Race Theory (CRT) overshadowing an instructor’s life, it is a challenge to educate. Nonetheless, sometimes there is a glimmer of hope. One of the assigned readings where I teach is the 2002 New York Times article titled “Where Nothing Says Everything” by Suzanne Berne. It is a description of Berne’s visit to Ground Zero, seven months after the terrorist attacks. Many students are unfamiliar with the jihadist philosophy behind those heinous deeds. So I show them the 2005 film Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West. It depicts the goals and methodology of those jihadists who wish to obliterate the Jewish people and infiltrate the West. The film also draws parallels between World War II’s Nazi movement and Islamism and the initial tepid response by the West to those threats. Here are the comments of my students. […] How is it that my college students can abhor what the jihadists say and do, but Western leaders lack the fortitude to enforce any meaningful action and instead kowtow to the radical Islamists whose goal is the total evisceration of Western values, and the murder of those they deem “the infidel”?

. . .abortion is at its tiny beating heart not, I repeat not, a political issue. It never has been, actually. It is not solvable at the federal, or even state, level. It cannot be eradicated via executive order, law, or any craft we here possess. “Abortionist” is the second oldest profession after “prostitute.” Humans are human. They will therefore sin and keep on sinning until the very end of time. You could sooner ban porn, or gambling, or beer drinking than totally ban all abortion in the United States. Calling for angry boycotts, bans, and legislative fixes, moreover, is all very dry and dusty and angry. I understand the anger, of course—the wanton murder of fully-formed infants in the womb is a travesty we should all be sickened by. But the key audience to convince here is not the politicians or mass voting blocs. It’s the lone young female who presents herself at the clinic to terminate an unwanted—or wanted, but inconvenient—pregnancy.

Both AOC and Bowman are militantly anti-Israel so this was up there with the KKK or the Nation of Islam kicking out members for not being racist enough.

The son of Ryan Wesley Routh, Donald Trump’s would-be assassin, was arrested Tuesday morning on federal child pornography charges, ABC News reported. Investigators found “hundreds” of files with child pornography during a search of Oran Routh’s home in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Sept. 21. Prosecutors conducted the search in relation to charges against his father, who remains in custody after he attempted to kill the former president earlier this month, according to ABC News. Oran Routh was charged with receipt and possession of child pornography. The videos in his possession include children as young as six being sexually abused, the New York Post reported.

The court ordered Cisneros, whose vehicle made contact with a volunteer’s car while participating in the convoy, to pay the bus driver, Tim Holloway, $10,000 in damages and an additional $30,000 in punitive damages.
